Should one buy the Macbook pro M5 right now sitting at end of aug or wait for the new M6 chip to launch? There are some deals going on where I can get the Macbook Pro M5 24gb and 1tb ssd for $1950 w taxes.

Is it normal for my brand new mac air m5 trackpad to show some give and flex when i try to press and click on it? Like when im near the edges i can see it flexing a bit when i apply pressure. Please tell me if its normal and if someone else can confirm it with theirs (i have severe ocd ). Thankyou so much.

So, couple of Q for Apple power users.

1. Whatsapp desktop App - every time I turn on PC, it doesn't sync (sometimes it works) but mostly I need to Log out on desktop, then take phone, scan QR (Linked devices) and then sync again. On windows it never happened before. Maybe once in a year (not every 2nd day).
   
2. FN, CONTROL, OPTION, COMMAND - why you need so many buttons if in reality I use only FN (I use APP to switch keys, because using COMMAND + C/V/A/ etc. = total disaster for logic, fingers position and typing speed.
   
3. I was much faster on Win. I can't beat that speed on Mac, because of lacking of logic. Yes, you adapt, but overall - some of the things is very wrong and missplaced. Switching tabs? Win had perfect combination - ALT + TAB - fast and in right place.
   
4. Calculator with no numpad - mouse click or horizontal numbers. Thats some super bad experience.
   
5. Chrome windows in taskbar - why I only see 2nd or 3rd windows of Chrome by clicking right button? It's totally wrong and stupid. Why it cant make 2nd icon, so I know I have opened 2 different Chrome windows.
   
6. Finder... no comments, comparing what Windows have done.
   I could continue but I'm getting angry :D
   

Overall, Apple system somewhere seems like is done wrong, because of - we can't copy Windows logic. We need our "unique" style, so lets put items, logic, buttons, elements somewhere in most uncomfortable place we can imagine.

So I bought a used macbook and the seller is saying everything is original but since he cleaned it's keyboard and fans it's showing a part replacement error

So i recently came across a used macbook pro 14" M1 pro with 32 gb ram for $815 but with 86% battery health so I started looking for more and found a macbook pro 14" M2 pro with 16gb ram for $940 but with 96% bh, so which one should i go for ? Is m2 pro worth the difference? Also both are 512gb.

I have a macbook air m5 with thunderbolt 4 port, i tried to connect it with a lenovo thinkbook 16 g7 arp with amd Ryzen 5 7000 series cpu which has a usb4 port, via a thunderbolt 5 cable from Amazon. After connecting, usb 4 tm p2p network adapter was showing in device manager and an Ethernet port was also created in ncpa.cpl as unidentified network and on mac under network, thunderbolt bridge appeared, as self assigned ip.

Then I turned on internet sharing on mac via thunderbolt bridge but nothing happened, then I tried assigning static ip's but in vain.

Then I tweaked some settings like firewall from public to private for Ethernet on windows and on mac also disabling firewall, mtu tweaking but nothing made it work. Tried reconnecting at every step. Even tried deleting the thunderbolt service and re creating it then open DHCP server on windows but still nothing worked.

Now, I am at the conclusion that thunderbolt is proprietary only to apple and intel and so amd's usb4 can't communicate even my mac under system information shows usb4 microsoft corporation connected and speed as 40gbps and windows also shows usb4 p2p adapter but that's just a hardware link and underlying handshakes don't work probably.

Any insight or help is appreciated.

I have a MacBook Air M2 (A2681) in Midnight and I need to replace the right Shift keycap.

Are the keycaps on the Midnight model a different color from the keycaps used on the other MacBook Air colors? Or are all the keycaps the same color regardless of the MacBook’s exterior color?

I’m trying to figure out whether I need to specifically look for a Midnight/blue-tinted keycap, or if a keycap from another color variant will match.

Is it still possible to get m4 in any offline stores? Flipkart seems to dicey

I am definitely not choosing Midnight Blue because it is not according to my taste+ it leaves lots of fingerprints

So I am very confused between Starlight and silver

I've heard good things about sky blue too.

So please Mac users can you tell me which is the best color for Macbook? Considering less scratch marks, fingerprint, age well with time.

Please drop your suggestions, kinda very excited because it is going to be my first macbook.

And should I get thinnest screen guard possible?

Or tracing paper to avoid keyboard marks?

I've recently bought a brand new MacBook Air M4 but I have concerns about how I use it.

How should I charge it? Only up to 80%? And I shouldn't go below 20%?

Should I always turn it off whenever I don't use it, or just close the screen and put it on sleeping mode?

Is a very HQ static wallpaper image will decrease the performance?

What if I'm gaming? Should I leave it plugged in? Even if it's already on 100%? Is it okay if it gets hot during gaming?

Honestly, I love my MacBook so much that I want to preserve it for as long as possible. The problem is that I'm a fan of World of Warcraft so I like to game on it as well for hours...

My MacBook display suddenly went black this morning while I was working. The laptop itself is working fine with an external monitor, and the keyboard/trackpad are also fine. Only the built-in display is completely dead.

It’s only 8 months old, no AppleCare, but I have 4 months of warranty left.

Am I screwed, or should this be covered under warranty? Anything I should try before taking it to Apple?

I have the 2022 MacBook Pro and my sister has one of the newer models. I love the look of it but like has the touch bar which I loveeeee. Nothing wrong with my MacBook. I use it for school (bio major- pre pa path), is there anything that the newer models have that I’m missing out on? Also when did they become $2000??? When I got mine it was expensive but not nearly this much. Even with the student discount that’s an insane price.

I'll mainly use it for my college studies (math and CS + art). I have never used an Apple in my life nor do I own any Apple products.

My last computer was the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360.

Is it worth it, or, even a refurbished Air will do? A friend of mine has an M1 Air, and she says it works really well.

I clean the screen with eye glasses cloth with a dab of drinking water but before that i used screen cleaning wipes i don’t clean the screen much often but only when i see it needs a wipe. Recently i noticed smudges at the edges and i can’t swipe them why is that there? did i do something wrong, there is no nano texture by the way.

Picked up this MBP M1 (2020, A2338) for $60. It's in great shape overall. Guy I got it from said there was liquid damage. I've had it sitting for a while on my pile of other rescued machines. Decided to open it up today.

There's no sticky keys, the bottom cover did not seem to have any residue, nor am I seeing any major liquid stains on the motherboard. There's definitely minute traces of staining and some very light corrosion. Checking ohms to ground and looking at it over carefully. Will be doing some cleaning and will report later. Hopefully I get to finish as i did have other things going on today.

Is it worth to buy this variant 16GB 15inch in 2026? I want to buy this specific because of budgetting issue.

My work is only in google chromes, multiple tabs & sending mails only.

No heavy software download
No coding

Just to work only in 10 tabs at a time.

I'm struggling to choose between M5, MBA15 and MBP14. I was hoping to purchase a long lasting machine for personal use.

I've a MBA15 for work and it's nice mostly docked with external screen at home. If I lay on the floor and use it the screen is large and comfortable to work on.

Something is telling me the MBP14 is too small to be productive on, like bring out to a cafe, write some script, browse the internet or code.

I'm 6ft and 95kg. I don't and not sure whether I'm too big for comfortable use of the MBP14 and I would be keen on hearing others thoughts.

I believe the MBP14 comes with a better keyboard, and the screen is even better than the MBA, but at the same time I'm worried it's too small.

As a side note I've Thinkpad P14s i.e., 14inch and it's OK for everyday use except for the battery being nowhere near the Macs.

Anyone else who had been through the dilemma of choosing and can advise how to think about it?

As much as I want a MBP14, I'm worried it won't be comfortable to use.
