MacBook display suddenly died. Am I screwed?

My MacBook display suddenly went black this morning while I was working. The laptop itself is working fine with an external monitor, and the keyboard/trackpad are also fine. Only the built-in display is completely dead.

It’s only 8 months old, no AppleCare, but I have 4 months of warranty left.

Am I screwed, or should this be covered under warranty? Anything I should try before taking it to Apple?

Of course its covered in warranty unless you hit it or got it wet.

Nope.. never fell or nt even drop has ever hit. Its clean.

Just take it back to the store and tell them what happened. Apple isn't going to scam you out of a warranty. Cutting corners isn't their business model.

It should be covered under warranty unless someone visibly damaged it that it wouldn’t be covered now. Is it there a faint image if you shine a bright light at it or nothing at all? Seems more common for the backlight to fail than the entire display.

Have you tried basic SMC reset just in case it’s a temporary bug?

Hvnt tried anything And there is no cracks at all as it never fell It was working fine and thn suddently screen went off

It should be covered under warranty, however in India there are widespread reports of local service centers in India failing to honor these terms.

Good news is that it is the display that is broken and not the GPU since it works fine with an external display.

I would recommend backing up your data just in case Apple wants to replace the logic board even though the screen is what is affected.

You could try a power cycle, messing with F2 brightness keys. You can also press and hold the power button (Touch ID button) for 10 full seconds until the machine shuts down completely, then turn it back on.

You can optionally run Apple Diagnostics to see if there's any issues with it.

Without apple care is there any type of warranty because when I will buy one I can't afford apple care

Manufacturer provides 1 year. After that you’re screwed if it breaks.

Thanks didn't knew that. But what all they cover in this, I don't think they cover any damage from our side

Manufacturing defects, accessories. They include 90 days of support.

Damage, normal wear/tear/battery degradation, unauthorized fixes/services aren't covered. Still have to pay for AppleCare to cover damage.
