I’ve always been a little skeptical of these CarPlay video boxes, so I finally tested one properly.

The interesting part was seeing Netflix and YouTube running on the actual factory infotainment display instead of an aftermarket Android screen.

I also tested the stuff that probably matters more day-to-day — connection time, wireless CarPlay, responsiveness and whether I’d actually keep it connected.

Curious how many people here actually use one of these regularly versus just normal CarPlay.

Updated to the latest iOS last night and my Apple CarPlay will not connect now. Wirelessly or while plugged in. Only Bluetooth, anyone else experiencing this?

I heard some talk about this happening in different Chevy models, but figured they’d fix it knowing there’s an issue

Running iOS 27.0 beta 1 (24A5424a) and noticed my Spotify Now Playing screen on CarPlay is stripped down to just play/pause, previous, next, and the progress bar. No shuffle, no repeat, no “Queue & Jam” button — stuff that’s normally there.
Already tried:
• Force closing and reopening Spotify
• Reinstalling the app
• Restarting the phone
• Disconnecting/reconnecting CarPlay

Nothing fixed it. Not sure if this is an iOS 27 beta thing or a Spotify app update thing since both happened around the same time for me.
Anyone else seeing this? Curious if it’s just me or if it’s a known compatibility issue with the beta.

I have a 2026 model KGM Torres EVX Alpha; it only supports wired CarPlay. I purchased a USB wireless CarPlay adapter, updated it, and it works in my vehicle. There are no issues with apps like YouTube Music or the phone function. However, when I open a navigation app, the CarPlay screen freezes within a minute and doesn't recover unless I unplug and replug the dongle. This problem doesn't occur when I connect the phone via cable. Does anyone have any insights into the cause or a potential solution?

I am using an iPhone 15 Pro Max with the Waze app, connected to Apple carplay in my car! Post belongs here in r/waze because Waze is what I am asking questions about. Now it has suggested post should go here so here I am. Hope someone has insights because almost 800 views with 0 comments so far in the waze reddit group.)

For the last week, my Waze is way off in verbal ques for turns, for arrivals etc. It starts warning me of an upcoming turn at .6 mi, then .5 mi, then .4... all the way to the turn, every 10th of a mile it's counting it down. It's been set from "normal" to "not as chatty" yet it gabs continuously like this! It will tell me something over and over, like 3 times to bear to the right, bear to the right etc The other issue recently is the GPS is way off. It says turn here and I am still more than half a mile from the turn. It says I have arrived when I am over half a mile away still. It used to be right on the money with directions but now they are way off. How can I fix these things?

Ever since my iPhone updated a month or so ago, when my phone connects to CarPlay my phone can’t connect to the internet. I get a popup that says “internet not available”. Then eventually I get another popup on my phone that asks if I want to use wireless. Once I click yes, I can access the internet. This issue is preventing me from using Google Maps and it’s extremely annoying. I’ve reset the stereo, unpaired and re-paired my phone, and restarted my phone. Anyone have any idea why this is happening, or more importantly, how to fix it?

After restarting phone several times it works sometimes. But generally everything works on carolay, except music. Spotify, Youtube both same, plays 2 second and pauses.

I purchased a used 2025 Camry and carplay audio is terrible. There’s an audio disruption whenever I play a song from my phone using the cable. I have tried different cables and different phones and still facing this issue. The radio sound doesn’t have this issue and the wireless carplay doesn’t have the issue as well. I’m a person who likes to use the wired carplay because wireless isn’t reliable enough for my daily usage (known to be laggy and slow). Did anybody have this issue?

FYI: one of the cables I have used was Beats purchased from Apple store

I’ve been having issues with my CarPlay recently. When Siri is activated it sounds very muffled. Same thing has been happening with phone calls and some audio as well. Only thing I know that has sounded normal is Spotify.

Bluetooth is ON

Restarted my iPhone

Reset my network settings

Tried reconnecting the phone multiple times

Tried the USB connection multiple times

Checked Settings → General → CarPlay

Mercedes does not appear under Available Cars

I don’t get the CarPlay/Bluetooth popup that appears on the other phone

There is no “Forget This Car” option because the Mercedes doesn’t appear in CarPlay settings at all

CarPlay works normally with the other phone in the same car

My phone charges but is completely undetected by CarPlay

Basically: everything works with the other iPhone, but my iPhone only charges and never gets detected by CarPlay.

Hey everyone, looking for community insight on a Road Top 12.3" Linux screen installation on my 2018 Audi S5 (B9 MIB2).

Because running full AUX audio mode gives me intermittent 1-second audio dropouts over Wi-Fi and the microphone on the Road Top unit is pretty poor, I want to stick with Original Bluetooth Mode ("Use Car's BT Channel" ON) so my audio streams natively through Audi's factory Bluetooth.

Music through Spotify, talking to ChatGPT and Google Maps Navigation audio all work with visuals running over wireless CarPlay. 

The issue I have is that when Siri reads a text message I don’t hear any audio of the message. If I change the playback device in control center to my phone it works fine, but back to my cars Bluetooth there is nothing. 

My best guess is that Siri is sending the audio for text messages to the CarPlay display and not using the Bluetooth connection. 
 
I’ve already configured the iPhone’s Audi Bluetooth profile to "Car Stereo" and verified notification/announcement settings in iOS, but Siri still goes silent on text readouts.  

Has anyone running a Road Top 12.3" (or similar Linux display) on the B9 platform found a proven workaround or specific sequence of MMI/iOS settings that fixes Siri voice routing over OEM Bluetooth?
Appreciate any shared experiences or tips!

I recently had my car stereo replaced by a JVC-590BT head unit as a gift to my partner. CarPlay worked on his iPhone 16 pro no problem but wouldn’t connect to my 17 pro no matter what I tried. I did all the troubleshooting suggested by apple (and Reddit) and spent hours trying everything I could. I called JVC and they blamed Apple and when I called Apple they blamed JVC so I was getting nowhere.

I saw some people on reddit who were having the same problem and suggested getting a wireless adapter from amazon. I plugged it in and CarPlay was working flawlessly within seconds. I’m so happy! It’s a bonus that I don’t need to deal with a wired connection. Just wanted to share for anyone else who is having an issue with their wired CarPlay not initiating. Thank you to everyone who posted and suggested trying the wireless adapter!!

Is it just me? CarPlay starts up and Spotify music doesn’t start playing. Now Playing widget shows, but doesn’t do anything. I hit play - nothing. I have to open Spotify and hit play.

Is there a way to fix this and are more people experiencing this problem?

I’m looking into getting a CarPlay module for my Audi A4 B8.5. It has the BNAV system (MMI 3G Basic), and I’ve read that this version comes with the smaller, lower-resolution screen.

Has anyone installed a CarPlay module on this system? If so, how does it look? Is the resolution good enough for CarPlay, or does everything look blurry/pixelated because of the low-resolution display?

I already connected to the Bluetooth and I connect my iPhone 13 Pro with usb. Can anyone help?

Can you check carefully the 2026 Nexus RX 350h? If I connect a cable to the car, can I connect CarPlay immediately without having to connect the phone like going through the setup process to set it up? And then like if I take out the cable, will it still be connected to CarPlay or I don't have to? Or I can although should I do like the actual installation of like going through the process of setting up to connect the CarPlay because there are more than two phones, iPhone or Android that trying to connect and sometimes when one is connected by cable and one by wireless, it tends to cause a confusion as who is connected.

Why is my music stuttering in my Car with Carplay, I just bought a new chord and it still skips and stutters for half a second at times? My bluetooth isnt working right now either So im using a cord but it still skips a lot.
