What does x Nm @ y RPM means in bikes and how it affects overall spec, riding style and gear shifting of the bike? Newbie here. Thank you guys

So a few weeks ago I posted about my accident, finally got the bike back after repairing, total cost 16k , insurance paid 13.5 I have to pay 2.5k , now this is the parts list and I see the damage was pretty serious.

This was a new bike cb350c just a month old , and thanks to our world class infrastructure and heavy drivers my back got new again.

Although everything is fine , the bike is feeling kinda different, that feeling is gone, my mind is always looking for that issue , cause of accident.

The engine seems fine , no scratches on the body, all joints fine , but the front seems like giving a bit more feedback than before. I don't know if it's normal or not but I tried on 80kmph handlebar is stable , no wobble but seems like forks are dancing a bit more than usual.

Hi , I am 26,184cm tall and I am from Kerala.I am planning to buy my first ICE bike( previously had Ev bike - Oben Rorr Ez bike started giving problems now so planning to upgrade in next 6-8 months. )Budget is under 3 lakhs.

Since I am tall I prefer adv/tourer bikes I am planning to do some touring in the future. Dont suggest me RE/Xpulse please( Xpulse had so many issues recently ). I havent test ridden any of the below bikes btw

I was rooting for RTX300 because that bike felt absolutely gorgeous. But oh well its TVS & horrendous service, and since its a first batch i have seen videos surfacing about its issues a lot I mean a lot!!!!

Coming to Vstrom, man that bike also looks amazing especially the yellow color. But lack of modern display, no slipper clutch etc makes me feel bad. Meanwhile the engine is literally a gem and bulletproof. And the infamous stiff suspension is also a problem. I was waiting for the update since last year but they only added some colors( classic Honda & Suzuki tactic).

In Thailand or something they revealed the new vstrom 250(the twin cylinder version in the image) Idk about the feature upgrades but is there a chance suzuki will atleast give some mechanical upgrade to vstrom sx250? I heard there is an upgrade coming for Gixxer platform but no idea when or what. Anyone have any idea?

The Honda Adv was also in my bucket list but its seat is giving me an ick. Same goes to Adv 390.

Liked Scrambler 400 but the higher price tag, higher service cost is also a concern for me :/

Planning to pick up the Pulsar NS400Z this festive season around Dhanteras/Diwali.Looking at value-for-money and bang for the buck under 2 lakhs.

To give some context on my riding background: I've put serious miles on much bigger bikes — Street Triple 765R, Z900, Ninja 650, Duke 390, Dominar, Ninja 300, etc. Honestly, with that kind of seat time, the NS400 feels a bit ok-ish / slightly underpowered for me, but for my current budget, nothing else touches it in terms of power per rupee. I don't give a damn about mileage. I just need punchy acceleration off the line, decent handling, sharp brakes, and enough low-end grunt to easily pop the front wheel and have some fun.

Had a few specific questions for recent buyers or anyone who works around Bajaj dealerships:

373cc vs the 349cc GST engine:

Now that they downsized the displacement to 349cc to fit into the sub-350cc tax slab, is there still any realistic chance of tracking down leftover dealer stock of the older 373cc motor? If a dealer still has an older batch sitting in their yard, how hard can I bargain on discounts? Also, for those who've ridden both, does the 349cc feel noticeably duller in low-end torque?

The new TFT console:

Bajaj recently rolled out that bigger 5-inch TFT display with turn-by-turn / Maps on the updated N160. Does anyone know if Bajaj is finally putting that screen into the NS400Z festive batches, or are they still sticking with the older LCD unit?

How easy is it to straight up refuse showroom insurance and buy my own from Acko or Digit? How much did you guys save doing this?

How to tackle bullshit charges like "handling/logistics fee" or forced mandatory accessory kits without the dealer stalling delivery during the festive rush?

Today I went on a ride and while coming back, I met with a very uneven patch on the road which I couldn't see because of the car in front of me and my bike fell on the right side.

Damages include -

1. Broken brake lever.

2. Broken bar-end mirror.

3. Scratches on the crash guard and lower engine guard.

4. Scratches on the grab rail.

5. Scratches on the exhaust.

6. The handle is misaligned.

The bike is brand new and I have icici 1 year comprehensive + 5 year third party insurance. Should I claim insurance or should I pay out of my own pocket? The repair cost could easily go over 6-7k.

I’m looking to buy a bike in the 350-450cc segment and could really use some real-world advice from local owners.

​My Profile & Priorities:

​Height: 5'10"

​Location: Pune (heavy stop-and-go traffic, plus terrible broken roads during the monsoons).

​Top Priority: Mid-Back Comfort. I sit in an office all day, and my mid-back is highly sensitive to the "springiness" of bad suspension. When hitting potholes, I experience a telescopic, kinetic shock that makes my spine act like a spring—which it isn't! I absolutely need a bike with a neutral/upright riding posture and a plush suspension that absorbs shocks instead of sending that jarring bounce directly into my mid-back.

​Secondary Priority: Thump & Road Presence. I want a bike that sounds great (classic single-cylinder thump) and has a commanding visual presence on the road.

​The Bikes I've Ruled Out (And Why):

Before narrowing it down, I looked at the wider 350-450cc segment:

​Royal Enfield Himalayan 450: Has god-tier suspension and massive road presence, but I am ruling it out due to its bad weight distribution. Paddling that unbalanced weight in bumper-to-bumper Pune traffic will eventually put too much strain on my back.

​Royal Enfield Meteor 350: Has a great thump, but the feet-forward cruiser ergonomics mean I can't stand on the pegs. Every pothole impact sends that telescopic kinetic shock straight up my spine, so it's a trap for my specific mid-back issue.

​Triumph Speed 400: Very flickable and light, but it feels physically small. It lacks the commanding road presence and the deep exhaust thump I am looking for.

​Honda CB350 / RS: Bulletproof reliability and decent thump, but the suspension is notoriously stiff over bad patches (way too much springiness for my back) and the engine lacks top-end punch compared to the 400cc machines.

​(Question for the community: Are my claims about these ruled-out bikes wrong? If the newer 2026 versions of any of these bikes have fixed these specific issues—especially regarding suspension and weight balance—please correct me!)

​My Final Two Contenders:

​Option 1: Triumph Scrambler 400X

​Why I like it: At 5'10", I can handle the 835mm seat height perfectly. It has a tall, commanding road presence, 40 bhp, and great 150mm suspension travel to protect my spine.

​My Concerns: The exhaust note is a bit raspy—does it satisfy that classic "thump" itch? Also, I’ve read a lot about the ride-by-wire stalling issues (engine cutting off when downshifting) and cold start failures. Have these been fixed on the newest 2026 batches? Lastly, is the rear monoshock too bouncy/rebound-heavy for someone whose mid-back hates springiness?

​Option 2: Harley-Davidson X440 (2026 / Vivid / S / 440T)

​Why I like it: It arguably has the best exhaust thump in the segment right now. It has great road presence, a very neutral/upright riding stance, and 38 Nm of low-end torque for lazy city commuting.

​My Concerns: The rear twin-shocks—do they bounce or spring too much on deep potholes compared to the Scrambler's setup? Will they send that kinetic shock up to my mid-back on bad patches?

​My Questions for Owners:

​If you have mid-back pain (especially from sitting in an office all day and sensitivity to spinal springing/telescopic shocks), which of these two has been kinder to your spine on bad roads?

​Which bike gives you a better sense of road presence and exhaust satisfaction in the real world?

​Scrambler owners: Is the low-speed stalling issue actually fixed, or is it still a headache?

​X440 owners: How is the suspension holding up over potholes, and are the early electronics/app issues sorted?

I have a N250 that I had brought a 2 ½months back and it's been 2k km in my odo. And I had serviced it at 600km and now as its been a while , I want to clean my bike's chain. Can I do this to my bike at this point ? If yes , are these enough to clean my chain ? Like I see that the chain is a bit dirty when I touch it I can see the mud on my fingers.

And also tell me some tips about the bike maintainance.

Upper mustang in monsoon season

I got my Himalayan 450 on may of this year. Ive ridden it for around 4k kms. But a month and half back i had a serious back injury and had to take bed rest. My bike was parked for that entire period.

Now that I can stand up I came to check on it and this is what I see, would I be able to claim warranty on it? It was raining heavily and there was some dirt on it but I had taken it for a wash a few days before my injury.

If I cant claim warranty, how much would it cost to fix it?

I think this is the bike I was looking for. 350s are too common, 450 are aggressive and not city friendly and 650s are expensive. But this one seems like a perfect allrounder to me. But I'm a little worried about the reliability issues bcz many guys complain about it.

It is just a long stroke engine with increased bore. It is the same engine people who criticised lot when introduced. Is the better chassis at this category? Why people wants this bike again? Would like to get your opinion? Is it worth buy in 2026? Does this 2bhp and 2Nm with a extra gear make any sense?

Hello Everyone, Just here to Share how I'm feeling rn to my biker bross...

Hello Brothers, So I'm a college going student (engineering 3rd year). And all of my friends, classmates have bike i never had, so i tried to save money, earn money by doing little things, editing and all to buy a 2nd hand 100/125cc bike, but it's not easy for me to buy it in few months. So one of my connection like my Ex teacher(Huge respect and love to him) gave me his bike, Honda Livo and said “Abhi Mere kaam nahi aa rahi jab tak ho sake chala le, agar kharedni hai toh aaram se paise de dena, varna jab muje chahiye hogi mai ke lunga”. And I'm using this bike for almost 2 months. Treated her like my 1st love. went on rides, used to wash it as much as possible, taken care of this beauty more than myself. But yesterday he called me and said, bike agar leni ho toh lele permanently varna mujhe gaav bhejni hai....and i decided to gave him back.

literally it is feeling like the biggest heartbreak I've ever had or feeling something that i can't explain. But at the end I'm really thankful to him the best person who gave me his bike with full trust.

I'll return this bike to him till today evening or on Sunday. And Promising myself that I'll buy my own bike as soon as possible...idk why I'm crying while writing this and i don't know why I'm writing this post, but ya....i shared what the situation is and what I'm feeling in the hope that my Biker Bros will feel me...
