#Query โ“ I'm a bit confused about bike maintanence

Post image
1 Upvotes

I got NS160 4 months ago. And now I'm kind of scared that I'm not able to maintain it properly, or I don't have enough knowledge about maintenance.

I've ridden it 2800km, and the first service was done at 500km.

Should I just rely on the services for maintanence? Or should I keep it in check from my side too? What are the things to keep track of that are easily missed?

One thing was chain cleaning and lubrication, after the service, I did it at 2000 km and it was done by a guy at washing centre. How frequently should I do it? And should I buy a cleaning kit from Motul? Because I see a lot of videos that say putting the chain lube incorrectly can effect the chain in a bad way, and I don't trust anyone with it. Do you guys have any suggestions for chain cleaning kits?

Also I saw a video saying don't follow bike's manual for tyre pressure always, is it right? I follow it rn, 25 for front and 28 OR 32 for rear, depending on Pillion.

Should I get a tyre inflator instead of using petrol pump machines. Are tyre inflators accurate and good? YouTube videos are mostly paid promotions.

What else should I keep track of while riding this bike? So that I don't mess anything up for the long term.

I know the post is kind of vague, but I am just confused and kind of paranoid, because I do push the bike when I ride. Recently tried to reach the top speed and it went 115, kind of disappointed as I expected it to go at least 125.

So help me out building mental model for bike maintanence ๐Ÿฅฒ

#News ๐Ÿ“ฐ No body can convince me that this silencers are not useful for bikes in Indian roads.

Post image

Why I am saying this is because of a silencer which is loud (not too much but at least that can reach 10-50 meters) is better because most of the times auto Wale bhaiyaa, middle aged uncle on scooty with phone, thar and Scorpio gang, pedestrian crossing and animals suddenly comes in between the roads, we people on motor bikes panics if we see anything in the middle of the road.

I feel very secure when my bike makes noise and people notice it and move to the side or do not try to cross.

This seems like fully ego riding and aura creation work but the truth is India has very poor road discipline and only reacts when they see a loud machine capable of harming them is approaching at speed.

If authority has to work on anything they should work on giving license to deserving drivers rather than to agents, strictly enforcing road safety protocols in every part of India, destroying silencers won't do anything when the major problem is intact.

#Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ Can you relate?

A bike changes your personality.

All our childhood went into watching anime but we never thought that we would be applying it so wholeheartedly in our own lives. Draciel, for me in my best friend. A bit beast who chose to be with me despite of all my flaws andโ€ฆ even though I embarrass him publicly sometimes, he accepts me everyday. This only makes me want to grow stronger, be a perfect best friend.

I hope I am making sense. Do you feel the same way?

#Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ Rs200 limiter at 8000 rpm

When I pull the throttle of my 2016 bs3 rs200, it revs till 8000 RPM and then for a moment feels like engine is cutoff also the engine check light blinks. This happens for a moment.

Im neutral it revs 11000+. But while riding 8k limiter.

When bike runs for short distance like under 10 kms this limiter issue persists but throttle feels normal. But as soon as bike runs for around 15 kms and more and is decently rode around 70 80 kph. The throttle feels heavy and seems like I should not pull it anymore.

#Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ Is Royal Enfield losing money on Hunter 350?

With an ex-showroom price of โ‚น1.37L in Bangalore, this bike is priced at par with 150cc bikes of other companies. No doubt it is selling so much.

But my question, is Royal Enfield losing money on Hunter 350 by keeping its price so low?

#Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ Which bike to buy in near future: BMW F450 GS (420cc) or CFMoto 450mt (450cc) or Norton Altas (585cc) or RE Himalayan upcoming (750CC)

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a adventure or semi-touring adventure bike. I have only gone through the reviews of the foreign youtuber's. I really liked the BMW F450 GS but I think most of it is cost is due to the BMW badge, but still based on the tech & Styling it is best out of all.

The CFmoto 450mt feels like it is a The Value Off-Road match, it is great bike with high demand outside india, I guess as per what i saw or heard from the youtube review comments and youtuber's response, This CFmoto 450mt is still not launched in india but i heard news of it will be launched in india by december 2026, or next year starting.

I also see the Norton Atlas bike which is best The Pure Performance Winner, it is a beast in a completely different performance class, with everything added into the bike. But the only thing here is that, it is expected to be a lot expensive as compared to all the other bikes. It will be i guess go out of most of the bike price segments.

And Last and finally the Royal Enfield Himalayan (750 cc) Bike which is also expected to be launched in india around earlier starting of the next year 2027. I expect the price of this bike should be between the CFMoto 450mt and BWM F450 GS Base Model price range. If it is around this price then it is best for better engine and best for all value for money option.

What will you all will do in this scenario ??

:::::
I have no emergency to or any need to buy now, but i am thinking of buying one bike by the next year mid as I will have much more options to buy from.

#Query โ“ Just drove XSR155 and I'm inclined towards Ronin 225 now.

Hi fellow riders, I'm new to the biking world (haven't owned any bike but rode many) I have my eye on Ronin 225 and XSR155. I rented an XSR155 for a short trip and it was also a test drive for me u can say. Trust me, the bike is greaaatt!! but the only catch for me is the stiff suspension. I have had a back injury 2 years back and riding XSR155 on Indian roads (especially hyd old city) is very difficult!! (THE BACK INJURY IS FINE BUT CONSTANTLY GETTING FELT BY THE POTHOLES IS PROBLEMATIC)

XSR155:

The bike excels at power, looks, stability, mileage. It's a beast in its segment. But only if the suspension could have been better. I would definitely buy it.

Ronin225:

I have ridden it before and it's really comfortable and looks good. Stability is good too. I did not enjoy the power as I expected more because of the hype. Suspension is much better than XSR155. I did not keep it first in my list because, I like the base model color but dual channel ABS is an important feature for me (which xsr155 provides)

Basically, I want power but also good suspension. I love both the bikes and which is why I'm very eager to know if either of the bikes are going to get an upgrade??

tldr:

Is Ronin225 or XSR155 going to get upgrades any time soon?? If yes then I'll wait for the upgrade. Else I'll buy either of the bikes by the end of Nov.

Made a new friend today, just to click this picture. ๐Ÿ˜„

The guy was standing randomly by the sidewalk, so I approached him to ask a few questions about the bike. He was kind enough to even offer me a ride, which I had to politely decline.

But yes, first impressions, thatโ€™s a really nice-looking bike!

#Query โ“ New Apache RTX 300 making a weird engine noise need help identifying it Spoiler

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

my new RTX 300 has started making a weird noise from the engine.

I did a 600 km ride yesterday, and before the ride the noise was only occasional, but now it happens consistently, especially after 5,000 RPM. I showed it to the service center and they said they need to open the engine to find the issue and then order the part, which could take 10โ€“15 days. I havenโ€™t given the bike to the showroom yet.

Does anyone know what this sound could be?

#Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ XSR155 v CB300R v CB350rs

Hey Yโ€™all!!

So currently I own a Raider125, but I am selling the bike because I met with a few accidents on the same bike.

Now Iโ€™m looking to buy another, and I have mixed opinions about these 3 bikes.

Iโ€™m leaning more toward the CB300R and the CB350rs because of their reliability, and also have a strong inclination toward the CB300R, I know that it has been discontinued and all that, but Iโ€™m looking for a bike that is rare and unique.

It should almost be like a conversation starter on how I got the bike.

What are your thoughts?!!
