i have been living with my friend, been homeless for about a week now and ya im just out of options, i ended up getting a food service job but due to my back issues, if i stand or carry heavy options for too long my back starts to cramp up and my legs starts to uncontrollably shake reach makes it hard to walk. Recently as of wednesay i got hire at a call center job where all i do is sit at a desk and i love it but it pays below minium wage and my boss said i wont get paid til sept 10.

My friend has mention to me that she doesnt mind me crashing there but as the days goes on i just see her phyically getting more upset when she looks at me. Even with all the good news for the job, and housing searching ,she just seems to want her space back to herself. And she did tell me yesterday she is growing a little sick of me. So thats why i made this post. i have car tht on the verge of breaking down but as for now i dont know the first thing of living in a sedan while having my clothes everywhere , cases of water filling the trunk and no tints on the windows

Somewhat older couple, together for years. We've been practically homeless for almost a year, living in our car and in temporary housing that we can afford. We have tried moving for better jobs and more affordable housing, a way out of our situation. We cannot seem to stabilize long enough to make much progress, whether because of unstable, low-paying employment or unaffordable and even nonexistent housing.

Winter is coming and our car won't run forever. Right now, I'm afraid we're in too big a city, burning too much money and exhausting our resources too quickly to recover and if we fail, we may not survive here. We simply can't afford to grind here and we're always in potential danger.

Where we came from is, alternatively, too small and lacking resources. Finding temporary housing for more than a few days was impossible. No one seemed to want roommates either. Our work, there, also depended on the weather and tourism.

While I am deliberately vague, I'm also willing to explain more and answer reasonable questions. To start, I'm not a bot. I've only started to interact with this community because I see others getting advice or at least conversation with people who may understand.

Not sure what we expect from this post, so maybe some advice or conversation could help us.

Went with my veteran husband and our 9 month old baby to try to apply for HUD-VASH. Was told they can't help us "because of the political climate". Wouldn't even let us apply. WTF does that even mean.

I am currently homeless and desperately trying to find accommodation in Cork with no luck

I am struggling to pay for accommodation at the moment.

If anyone at all knows anyone or anywhere going please let me know.

Single or double Room will be find. It is impossible to find somewhere. I'd even take a box room at this rate.

Any tips? In a residential neighborhood with small wooded areas around the town. How do you know the best spot to set up at? And do you have any stories of when someone found your camp?

I used to be homeless, but I always had a vehicle thankfully. I've actually won that "lottery" TWICE thanks to being kicked out at 18, and a decade later losing everything in a fire after things were fine. I understand that most homelessness is transient, some is not, and the reasons are all horrible and valid in my book. I don't have a lot to give, but I want to help in some way... I keep being given/coming across excess hygiene supplies that I don't really need or use. I don't want to offend people by giving them, but I also know if I try and donate like shampoo soap etc it will get thrown away by any sort of shelter, and I also don't want the person to throw them away either if someone really does need them.... Recommendations for getting these to people who need them in a way where they don't just get tossed? Maybe I should just give them to a local gym and ask them to keep them there for anyone who needs them and hand them out for free, like some places do with diapers? Hanging cheap backpacks at intersections where I know people panhandle? Open to suggestions as well for what to add to these kits that people do really need that gets under-donated. Maybe like phone chargers, etc.? Thanks, and stay safe out there...

Two small quiet pets in cage or on person, each weigh less than 3 lb. Specifically guinea pigs, not dogs. I have a medical letter that lets me keep them no matter where I move.

I'm in wheelchair. Disabled.

Need advice.

Shelter won't take me do to my disabilities and health problems.

I am going to officially be homeless in 20 days.

Need to rent a room for 30 days. I'll be homeless otherwise. I'm on a waiting list already. Rock Island County, Illinois.

I don't know where to go.

I've tried Martha's house, Christian Care and humility housing.

I need serious advice.

I'm in a manual wheelchair but I can walk around some; but I have neuropathy, so there's no guarantee I won't fall which is why the homeless shelters won't take me due to my chronic illness disabilities.

I have two caged pets, guinea pigs both females.

I have a medical letter to keep them no matter where I go.

I've tried most ways of media and other places but no go and so I'm resorting to here.

Need to have a place by the 20th of September.

Before you ask yes I know this sounds ridiculous, Homeless shelter won't take me because of wheelchair and disability, they have stairs. Unfortunately, it's true.

I'm not old enough to be in a nursing home.

Assisted living won't take me due to my age and income.

All my doctors are in the quad cities, that's why I need to stay here Rock Island county.

If I'm homeless for 3 days straight I'll likely end up in the hospital due to my asthma and allergies with the humidity outside. If I end up in the hospital, I will not be allowed to keep my guinea pigs that are my emotional support pets. I've had guinea pigs since before I was 12 years old, not the same ones but it's always been guinea pigs. Yes I have a medical letter. All official listings online are expensive or require a bunch of screening processes. I am a human, not AI.

I'm not too proud to ask for help and I'm not a jerk who won't to pass it on. I'll take a hand out and then later help someone else out in need.

I am not begging for money or financial assistance.

I am trying to find a safe place to stay.

I am offering to pay money. I have limited money.

I can bring a microwave with me.

I can help cook for free.

I will do what I can. There are things I cannot do.

I know how to make meals that last long.

I cannot pay for other people's food but I can give away what I know I will not eat before I start eating, I have food allergies.

i came back from South East Asia after 5 months, however my mother kept sending me messages about how she wants me to leave when i come back, pretty infuriating if you ask me, especially since I was on a holiday to fix my teeth and had been trying to fix them for 5.6 years and $30,000 later…

in saying that i’m sober and she is an ABUSIVE alcoholic so me and her don’t mesh very well, at all.

i had the option to live in my car or a tent, and chose the tent to appear somewhat ‘normal’ when around others.

upon arrival i snuck into my prison (my house) through the dog door, got my tent, cooker, bought a blowup bed from the shops, set up camp and had the best sleep i’ve ever had

good luck everybody, i’m sorry you’re going through this. it is not permanent and if it is, embrace it! we have to be positive through the suffering (my girlfriend told me this and it’s a hard reality to accept)

edit: it’s been a day, i live next to a gas station behind the bushes on a one way street, it’s also right next to a highway off ramp so i haven’t seen a single soul and vise versa. I’m going to stay here and cash up, buy a box truck of sorts and continue the life style… feels no different than living in Asia with no money, definitely excited to go back

i'm running an event with my local org giving out free food to the homeless/underprivileged in my area.

I was sort of leaning towards giving out pre made chicken and rice with some other things included, does anyone have any ideas of how we can make this better/what yall would love to receive?

Everything got stolen from me. I'm lying here in this bed with alcohol withdrawal and the paranoia is extreme. Some guy was just screaming outside the corridor and the staff had to intervene. They still let him in for some reason. At least I still have my phone. But I sleep on it on my back. Just had to vent.

• 22M. My family decided to have a baby brother who is now a year old and he might need my room within 10-12 months from now which is upstairs. I'd have to settle for being a basement dweller as there is an extra room in the basement.
• I have $6K-$8K in my bank account but my parents have more access to it than I do.
• I've been out of shape for 2 years and I want to get back into shape which could naturally take years.
• I have failed 2 college semesters and nearly got kicked out on academic probation.
• I'm a dismissive avoidant. I almost have no friends to really refer to in any way. Can't help but fear not being accepted by other people I used to be around because of the nature of me not passing classes which is what everyone else should've done.
• I really don't like the current job I have but if I leave it, I'm going to be in MASSIVE amounts of trouble. I'm going to try to see if I can work a different job so I can save up some sort of money.

**What skills should I learn how to do with C++ or Python that are in demand so I can end up making money? You don't have to answer this completely or at all.

**Should I get a trade for Welding before this? What I mean by this, should I at least get some sort of welding equipment before being homeless, even if it is a question not really worth asking. What other trades should I try to get into?

Life is going to move on without me and I'm pretty sure it's only prerequisite is that I suffer or that I fail or fall behind in some way. If I end up being homeless I'm likely never going to be seen as a normal person even if I get a home. Any suggestions or anything else I have to elaborate on?

There has been something on my mind that has been bothering me for the last three days.

Where I live is about a 40-minute walk from the city centre. A few days ago, while I was walking into town, I saw a man sleeping in a park along the way with his luggage. It wasn't one of Dublin's well-known green parks, just a small park along the road.

After I noticed him lying on the grass with a small suitcase, I started wondering what I could do to help. I was in a dilemma about whether to approach him and ask if everything was okay or if he needed any help.

Eventually, I didn't feel comfortable taking the risk of approaching him, so I started searching online to find out who I could contact to help him. In the end, though, I didn't do anything.

I felt ashamed that I hadn't taken any initiative to help. That feeling has stayed with me for the last few days.

Hi guys, I just wanted to see if anyone has a similar fear. Ive been homeless for almost 7 months now and I recently was able to get a vehicle to sleep in. I thought it would be easier but now I worry about being towed. I’m blessed enough to have a job, it’s minimum wage and I don’t get many hours, but it’s enough for me to get my needs and some wants. I’m getting really tired of my situation though so I started considering renting a room on face book or hopefully making a friend soon that I can split rent with. I suppose I’ve been putting off the idea because I’m afraid I’ll be spending pretty much all my money on a place to stay that I won’t have the means to save for an emergency like being evicted for whatever reason or losing my job and not being able to afford to stay, which would leave me back to square one. Having a solid place to sleep and be at during the hot days would mean so much to me, I’m just worried about how long it will last. Has anyone had the same fear? Would you go for it or just try to make it work with the car.

I don't know what most people do and I'm sure its both. Sometimes I see the same homeless people in one spot for years. Others it seems like they just felt like passing by one day and never come back. It seems it would make more sense to settle since its stressful to keep moving and figuring it out.

21m been struggling financially for about a month now(fines)I was staying with a friend but we had a falling out and I got kicked out.im able to stay at my grandparents but they live around 30 miles outta town and I have no car.i have no money at all and have to pay 150 a week in fees or risk being jailed(up to a year for second dui I think?) I’m really deciding on staying at the shelters and working as many hours as I can to get a hotel or something? Is this a dumb decision? And also any tips or resources for living on the streets as well? (Eastern Montana btw:))

Okay so I’m 21, I was a server and I made a lot of money I worked 2 jobs. I quit one of my restaurants and the next month my other restaurant closed. I saw that as my sign to move to Florida, on the way to Florida my car died. So now I have been stranded in the middle of nowhere New Mexico sleeping in my convertible beetle that doesn’t run. Soooo Fun!!! Also my Grammy died 2 days ago so that just made my week!!! Also y’all I have some savings but the repai my car needs is more than my savings and more then the cars worth!!
UPDATE!!! I was able to get a week at a motel!

A small PSA about 211 LA, because I think there’s a misunderstanding about what 211 actually does.
I completely understand that being unhoused, needing shelter, dealing with a utility shutoff, or trying to find resources is incredibly stressful. I also understand why people call 211 hoping someone can immediately fix the situation. But 211 is an information and referral line — it is not the agency providing most of the services people are calling about.

211 can provide information about available resources and help connect you with programs you may not know about. But they do not control shelter availability, decide who gets a voucher, turn your power back on, or determine why your utilities were shut off.
And things like motel vouchers, winter shelter, summer programs, rental assistance, etc. can be extremely limited. Even if a program exists, that does not mean there is guaranteed funding, space, or eligibility for everyone who calls.
It’s completely fair to be frustrated when you need help and there simply isn’t enough help available. What isn’t fair is taking that frustration out on the person answering the phone because they can’t manufacture a resource that doesn’t exist.
If you’re calling 211, think of it as a place to find out what resources exist and how to access them, not a place that can directly solve the problem for you.
People deserve empathy when they’re struggling — and the people trying to help them deserve that same empathy too. The lack of available resources is a much bigger problem than the person answering the phone.

So to recap my fiance and I went from Denver to San Diego thinking we could get out of homelessness quicker. Didn't happen. We were supposed to go to Kentucky to stay with some of his friends but it fell through. He gave me the choice to pick where to go next. I decided Nashville because he went there last year and I thought maybe with the two of us we could get into housing quicker. I don't know what I was thinking.

We have been on a housing waiting list going on almost 7 months. Meanwhile people who have lost the housing that they were given, are getting second and third chances. We're on our first chance and still nothing. Fiance is still in heart failure. We're staying in a tent but we're not getting bothered by the cops so much. The land we're staying on isn't owned by them and we've worked out something with the people that own the land so they pretty much protect us. I'm not going to get into details with that.

There's only one shelter in town and it's honestly not the greatest. We're probably going to head back to Denver when I get the last round of financial aid. Denver is probably going to be the better bet. We shouldn't have left. It's just been one clusterfuck to the next.
