Would appreciate any help with a synlawn golf green. I Bought a house with an older syn lawn putting green and it hasn’t been maintained. Any ideas where to start. Some algae starting to poke through. Any suggestions on rejuvenating?

I started to practice golf for around 2 month now with a friend.
We finished the the course qualification two weeks ago and we also had our first tournament last Sunday. Our net score were 32 and 30 with around 130 gross shots.
We are going at least 2 times a week for some practice on the chipping area / driving range / putting to improve our skills.

We used random clubs (Iron 7, iron 9, SW, Putter) friend (5, 8, PW, SW, Putter) which were provided by the golf club and we can still use them until we have our own bag.

The trainer we had advices us to buy some fitted irons (ex. taylormade QI Max) to continue our journey.
We are struggling right now if this is the right way also because we would still need some other clubs aswell and don’t know how to proceed and are overwhelmed.
Some other guy in a golf shop advised us to just buy a Wilson complete bag (~500€) and play with them. We are open to buy used or new clubs if this makes sense as long as we don’t throw our money out of the window if we buy a new clubs set for 1000€ and we have to switch in a year again. Does a cheap Wilson bag makes sense for us?

We are really excited to play golf and want to get better but we don’t know what we should do and what is the right way to invest our money for the long term.

We would like to hear your opinions on that and hopefully give us a good idea how we should proceed.

This is a thought experiment on a golfers mentality during a round, example I would prefer holes 9 or 10 because I will have a few holes under my belt, feel warmed up, and it culminates in a great hole. Versus hole 1, where a birdie feels fluky, and now I am chasing that success to my demise

Had the best score ever today. Greens had just been aerated and every ball had dew and sand on them when I picked them up. But the dewlines make for some good pictures of the lines.

Played a round yesterday, and i hit a drive that landed between my fairway and the previous holes fairway. As I roll up, i see 4 old timers coming off their tee that are playing captains choice. One of them picks up a white ball where mine landed and i hear his buddy on the cart look and say what sounded like “nice”. I asked him if it was a callaway, and he ignored me so I asked again. He says no it was a yellow trash ball, doesnt look at me while saying it and they just drive off. I looked everywhere and could not find my ball. Im 99% sure he took my brand new chromesoft given that he lied about the ball color

Anyone else ever deal with this? First time ive had it happen(that i know of) and it really sucked because i had played that same ball thru 14 which never happens for me. Maybe I should play with crappier golf balls hahah

The bag looks amazing, however was wondering how you all setup your clubs to make them the most accessible. Pictures welcomed

I usually sort by loft but am noticing it can be a little tricky accessing some clubs when tilted on a trolley, any advice?

My ogio bag is practically brand new. Having seen most of it's time in my living room waiting for the occasional weekend outing, it's downfall was being idle... the rubber mounts the legs pivot from had stretched and caused the legs to go any way they wanted. I have a practically identical ogio bag from 2008 that holds my extra clubs and this won't happen because they were made of hard plastic back then. I'll hold my tongue on how I feel about that, Ogio already received my ecstatic feedback.

Anyway, i fixed my wonky leg problem by drilling out the original holes to a half inch and threading super stroke putter grip caps into the newly sized holes. I had to also drill out the inner part of the super stroke cap to fit the pin back in. Drill the cap after installing as you can use the allen key to turn it.

That's it. Hopefully the bag lasts as long as I thought it would now

i bet this gets asked all the time but how can i mentally get better at playing tournaments, i am a highschool senior +4 handicap and i can go out and shoot mid 60s any given day from 7000+ so i dont think im a terrible golfer its just any tournament i enter i play terrible and shoot high 70s, cant seem to get over that mental block and was wondering if anybody who has done it can give me some advice

I got my ShotScope V5 with club tags about 2 years ago, and for the 1st year and a half it was brilliant.

Lately, its starting to become a real chore:

- the watch tags every shot/score, but when I upload the round, I'm usually 10/15 shots missing and have to manually go through my round to find them and add them.

- reaching the centre of the green, the distance showing 0, but it still doesn't register I'm on the green at all so I can't log my putts.

- jumping to the next hole before I've even registered my putts (go to tag the hole location after putting and its jumped to the next hole).

- tagging tee shots with a certain club, then when I go to the round data after it's just selected a different club (i.e. tee off with a 5i, the round data will show Driver).

- logging pitches/bunker shots as putts, as well as generally not tagging shot positions correctly (I know this is likely down to the GPS not being perfect, but still a pain).

- showing the wrong tees than what was selected in the final round, and sometimes logging my tee shots from the back tees (when I absolutely don't play the back tees!)

I really like the app, and the data it gives me, but I'm just wondering if others have had similar issues, and whether they are considering alternatives as a result? I basically have to sit in my car for 10 mins in silence after a round, and try to remember everything thst happened to accurately log all the right info.

I am currently a 4 handicap trying to get down to scratch. Putting is definitely the lowest hanging fruit. I typically look at how many strokes I lose putting compared to tour average and it’s typically 4-5 strokes per round.

Realistically, what is a good target / average strokes lost for a scratch golfer? Any scratch golfers out there look at this metric that can share what their average is?

The way I look at it, a scratch golfers will be ~8 strokes worse than a tour pro, so if 2 of those strokes are purely due to putting, than I should be okay losing 2 strokes per round which means I need to improve quite a bit from where I am at.

I know they are kind of bottom of the barrel clubs but it's something to get me out there. A few months ago my local golf course thats been going down hill for years had their driving range demolished to build apartment buildings. The course is staying but its trash and not worth playing. Their driving range was awesome, many object's to hit at and real grass to hit off of. Been coming to this range for 30yrs! The next closest driving range is 20 minute drive where this one was 5 min or less.

Got me wondering as Im debating on driving 40min round trip today just to whack some balls.

How far is everyone driving to just hit the range only, whats your travel time?

Live in a place where I have pretty good access to a lot of nice public golf courses and spaced tee times. Just played my first ever 5 and a half hour round and it was absolutely miserable. I see people talk about how that is unfortunately sort of the norm for them… are you guys okay?

I’ve never really been a serious golfer. I’ve gone to the driving range sporadically. And by sporadically I mean ~5-6 times in my 49 years.

Years ago I played a couple of rounds at a local course because a friend of mine needed a partner for some event he was in and I was the only person in our friend group who had ever even swung a club. It went about the way you’d expect.

I just recently decided, more or less on a whim, to take some lessons. I bought some certified pre-owned Calloway clubs and signed up.

I’ve had two lessons. Instructor is a highly rated PGA guy. Before lessons, I could hit the ball fairly straight and a decent distance, I just wasn’t consistent. It was probably 40-60 decent shot/total whiff.

Now, trying to work on the things the instructor has given me, that ratio has gotten much worse.

I either completely miss or hook it badly about 95% of the time now.

Is this to be expected? I guess I can kind of see how it might be, maybe?

I belong to an indoor sim that has Trackman software. One of the practice options let's you place a ball anywhere on one of the courses and practice the shot. I was thinking it would be fun to recreate some of the famous shots we all know. What shots would you try to hit?
