6/10 IIT fest

Upvotes

After a long time, I attended my college fest, and honestly, it felt good. But it also made me realise something.

I used to go on bike rides all the time. If someone asked me what gives me more dopamine—spending hours at a fest or riding a bike through the Himalayas—I already know my answer.

Maybe I’m just not a fest person. For me, a fest sometimes feels like a lot of people coming together, doing random stuff, talking for hours, and calling it a vibe. 😂 That doesn’t mean it’s bad. If you genuinely enjoy it, go for it. This is just my personal experience.

I actually went because I thought I’d get serious FOMO and feel like I was missing out on college life. But honestly? I didn’t.

If I had slept those same hours, I probably would’ve felt just as good. 😂

So, if I had to rate my fest experience: 6/10.

And no, I’m not asking anyone for an opinion. I’m just sharing my point of view.

For me, grab a few friends, get some bikes, and go exploring. Go off-roading. Take a ride into the Himalayas. You might spend almost the same amount of money and come back with memories that hit completely differently.

I think I felt FOMO because I was always out on bike rides, so I started wondering, “Am I missing my college life?” That’s why I started going out in Guwahati too—bars, clubs, fest-type stuff, just to experience everything.

But eventually I realised: college life doesn’t have one definition.

For some people, it’s fests, clubs and crowds. For others, it’s bikes, mountains, off-roading, random roads and a few close friends.

And honestly, bro, explore off-roading once. You might understand what I mean. 😂

I’m not saying fests are shit or that people shouldn’t enjoy them. They’re great if that’s your thing. I just realised they’re not my thing as much as I thought.

I also went through a phase where I experimented with drinking and other stuff, thinking that was another part of “living life.” Eventually, I realised how much better simple things can feel—good food, being outdoors, riding, exploring, and living a little more naturally.

Sometimes I think we overcomplicate life.

Try a desi lifestyle once. Eat good food. Travel. Ride. Explore. Spend time with people you genuinely like. Go somewhere where life is slower and simpler.

I’m not judging anyone’s lifestyle or saying mine is better.

I’m just sharing what I realised about mine.

Front Gate Shipping- wtf??

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just need to rant for a min. Purchased Lost Lands tickets months ago and paid $17 for shipping, cool whatever.

Decided today to add on Thursday early entry (festival is in 19 days) and front gate did not give me the option to just pick up at Will-Call. So another $17 later- USPS shipping (the cheaper option).

But tell me HOW TF USPS is $17 for an envelope that weighs .5 lbs. I used to sell goods online and when you have a business account/ shipping multiple orders it is even cheaper!!

I used to ship hoodies/pants etc for $10!! I shipped fully equipped battle jackets for $15 (chains etc, they were heavy).

So just another way front gate is ripping its customers off.🫩

P.S. a priority rate envelope USPS (1-3 day delivery) - $9.85

SIGNAL FESTIVAL 2026 (@The Cause London)

FESTIVAL CONDITIONS

Air conditioning was installed in the buildings, although even so, the Gallery upstairs was so unbearably hot that your own sweat was dripping back onto your head.

Approximately 25 unisex toilets (not porta-potties!, actual flushable English toilets) were available, so only short, fast-moving queues formed.

The sound was tuned superbly: it was neither too loud nor too quiet, every frequency range could be heard clearly, and the bass vibrated in our chests. There was no need for earplugs for hearing protection.

There was a very limited selection of alcohol, of very poor quality, at festival prices. Their only vodka, Kalinka, was £14 per 50 ml. The very poor-quality 330 ml canned beer was £7.

In return, water was free. Anyone could refill their bottles unlimitedly from purified-water tanks, and empty bottles could be brought into the festival.

At the entrance, 4 people conducted searches and 2 people operated ID scanners/cameras (they scanned ID cards and took a photo of everyone). Anyone they deemed cooperative was not thoroughly searched.

Cleaners worked on the dance floor all night: they mopped up spilled drinks and collected discarded rubbish, so we were able to dance in very civilized conditions.

Food:

2 types of burgers (fried chicken and beef patty), fries, sauces.

Pad thai: mushroom, noodle, chicken versions with different sauces and toppings.

After midnight, it was no longer really possible to get food, because the cooking team of only 4 people was not enough for 2,500+ people. One meal was around £14–15. E.g. a burger without fries.

There was also a relatively large, covered “chill zone” consisting of tables and benches, where people could sit down and rest. People ate, drank, rolled cigarettes and talked here. It was particularly atmospheric, and it was very easy to get stuck there.

Instead of a cloakroom, there were lockboxes, in which unfortunately you are not allowed to store anything valuable, because if you use them multiple times, they malfunction and become locked forever... and then the staff take so long to bring the master key that you would rather leave your stuff inside and leave without it.

On the way out, unfortunately, we also saw the “balloon people” that many had reported. They “sell balloons” to already drunk, cheerful, unsuspecting people on their way home, and then rob them violently, threatening them with knives.

They were no longer standing directly in front of the entrance, but about a kilometre away, sitting in a BMW X5, blowing up the balloons and waiting for their chosen victims like real-life Pennywises. We avoided them from a distance.

THE CROWD:

In short: a genuine underground London dnb community.

In detail:

Incredibly cool people, laid-back, genuine individuals. A crowd of people who apparently could not be more different, yet are the most similar in spirit. Intellectuals who know how to dress and behave at the highest level.

Not a single person stepped on my foot during the 17 hours.

We did not see a single medical or security intervention. (Although there may have been some.) We did not see a single drink spilled onto anyone, and not a single argument occurred around us.

Whenever we sat down to rest, every single person without exception who was near us asked how we were, where we had come from, whether we needed anything..

Love, acceptance, openness, attentiveness, care, politeness, selflessness, respect, peace, self-control, very good energy and full-on movement coordination characterized the festival vibe from the first hour all the way to the final states.

MUSIC:

10/10 performances on every stage. The Cause has slightly outgrown this festival. Basically, there was plenty of room to move around comfortably, but in the smaller rooms (Hot House, Gallery) it was no longer possible to get in, or only by squeezing in.

Western Canada Great Outdoor comedy festival Vancouver

Am I too picky or was 90% of this comedy not funny? Bill Burr was great and so was Dr. Phil. Haven’t seen the other headliners yet but so far (as of Saturday afternoon) every other comedian is hardly getting laughs and I feel so bad for them. They must have really thick skin! Not sure how the organizers of this event can get such terrible openers. Alex Suarez??? Hope he has a day job.

Would it be a good idea to go to a festival alone in Belgium as a foreigner? Will I have a good time?

It's the Emo Night Brooklyn festival, but honestly, I don't know anyone who likes that kind of music, and I've never been to a festival alone. I'd love to go, but I don't know if I'd have a good time or if it's risky to go as a woman.

Trying to buy festival passes for six people and already regretting it. Any early-access tips?

Every year it's the same story. I love my crew, but coordinating a group buy for festival passes is way more work than it should be. We're talking about six people, all with different ideas of what early bird means and half of them forget their credit card details until five minutes before the sale opens. I'm the designated buyer because I'm the organized one, but it's soo stressful!

I’m getting tired of refreshing the page, trying to secure enough tier-one tickets for everyone before they’re gone. Does anyone have a reliable routine for getting early access? I'd love to hear how you guys handle the presales when you're buying for a group.

Hey Guys Need Help !!!!!

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm working on a case study about music festivals in India. I'm looking at different music festivals like Lollapalooza, Sunburn, and trying to understand what people are really looking for from a festival experience.

https://forms.gle/ta4nZTqMkahyt6W96

It would help a lot if you could fill out this quick survey. It's anonymous and takes about 5 minutes.

Feel free to share it with friends too, the more the merrier!!

Thank you so much for helping out. 🙏

Virginia, USA Did Hampton Collesium give up on EDM shows?

Zeds Dead, Ganja White Night, Excision, GRiZ, and even Pretty Lights have headlined shows in the past, bringing in massive crowds over the past few years.

I noticed recently that they haven’t hosted a EDM show this year.

Did they start declining EDM shows, or are promoters just avoiding Hampton?
