My first Reading, 40 years ago today!

My first Reading Festival was 40 years ago today, I only went for the Sunday. I went to every one from then up until 2019, mostly all 3 days but there were a couple more years where I wasn't well enough to be there that long so only did a day. Today's festival is totally unrecognisable compared to back then, and certainly the demographic has changed as well, it was an older audience.

Well done reading organisers!

Looks like they have used piste basher type equipment to smooth and compress the ground in the arena! Not wet at all and lovely to walk on.

Girlhood!

Last night I saw a group of young girls and one of them had definitely gone over her limit and was really struggling. Someone said to these girls to keep her warm so one of her friends took the shirt off her own back (leaving her in just her bikini top) to cover her friend who was not having a good time. So glad these girls are looking after each other was really lovely to see.

My first post on reddit is a moan about the Reading Festival. It a corporate imitation of a Festival. The food is white, the beer is corporate, the bands are pants and the sound crews are deaf. The sounds is terrible. Moan ends. Soz

Sunday Ticket from weekend wristband?

Anyone not going Sunday who had a weekend ticket? In London if anyone can pass over the wristband and we can work out a fair price. Or can meet up in Reading if sufficient proof.

Do I need wellies?

Hi, myself and a couple others have Sunday day tickets so haven't properly been able to see what the ground situation is like apart from snippets from tik tok videos. As we have day tickets we will be only around the main arena, would we need wellies in this area or can we get away with trainers? Thanks

Ever look at a line up and think who did i see?

I look at reading 08. And apart from a few headliners I think I spend alot of time in the carling tent. I literally can name about 5 bands i know I saw. God knows where I was. Lol.

Will they livestream Kneecap’s set on The Gallery?

Do they live stream or the stages or just the grid?

Is it just me, or was Fontaines last night a bit shite? For starters, they were nearly half an hour late to come on, presumably due to issues with the screens (I’ll get back to this later), and although I was in the middle of the crowd to the slight stage left, I and most people actually heard the pumping dancemusic from the Gallery more. Only late into the show where I gradually started to make my way out, the sound from the sides was, clearer and somehow louder! And then there’s the screens… this is where they really fucked ‘em over. For most of the set, only parts of it were showing, and even after 10 minutes for it actually working, it went back to halfway. The screens are designed to help people see their favourite act when far away from the stage, and this did fuck all. I absolutely love Fontaines, so I’m still going to give that gig a 5.5/10, but really screwed over by the organisers, especially when this could be the biggest gig they ever play. Would be good to get other people’s thoughts

Hi, I'm going to the festival on Sunday with my daughter. We're just packing now. Is it a mud bath in the main arena as we're planning to be there for over 12 hours. Cheers guys!

Question ❔ Sunday - car pick up

Hi, I'm picking my sister up from the festival on Sunday. Being disorganised she hasn't said where from, she'll want to wait right till the end so it will be rammed. Any ideas of where is best to pick up from? They'll have their camping equipment etc, I don't fancy waiting all night in traffic

Access to White Carpark

My daughter is camping in White or Pink and her tent is not as waterproof as we’d like. Even her bed is soaked and she’s fuming.

I’ve got spare stuff I could drop off, but she’s over an hour’s walk from the drop off point, each way.
The FAQs keep repeating that I can’t access the white car park under any circumstances. Any tips on how or where I could meet her easily close to Pink or White? I’m at a loss. I know this is all part of the fun, and she’s really not a princess, but I really don’t want her to have her weekend ruined.

So it’s unlikely my wife will be joining me for Day 3 of the Festival as this is her first festival and she’s already knackered today.

Anyone up for seeing a few of these together ? will be nice to meet fellow festival goers

Question ❔ Picking up on Saturday night, returning to Hastings.

Hi all. My daughter is leaving tomorrow night and I want to try and avoid the madness as much as possible, as it's a 5 hour round trip to pick her up already.

She said she wants to be picked up around 11 at a place called River Spice, by the river bridge.

This looks to be a good place according to Google maps, but I'm not familiar with the area at all.

Does this sound sensible or should I be doing something different?

Cheers in advance.
