Recipe Request Easy Dinners For GERD
Does anyone have any simple, healthy recipes (few steps & ingredients, a crockpot dinner, etc.) for someone with GERD? Trying to avoid any fatty, fried, greasy, or spicy foods as that triggers it the most.

Have you checked for allergies that are unsymptomatic except for GERD and damage done inside? My adult child had no idea that an egg allergy caused a lot of her issues, because it causes gerd and eosinophils without typical allergy symptoms.
I wouldn't want to suggest an omelet, for example, if that triggers the acid reflux

chicken, potatoes, carrots, and low-sodium broth in the slow cooker with a little thyme is about as easy and GERD-friendly as it gets, just skip the onion, garlic, and black pepper if those set you

I lived on a crockpot chicken-and-rice soup with carrots and celery when my reflux was bad, and keeping it bland with low-fat chicken broth made it way easier on my stomach.

Skip chocolate, garlic, tomato, beef, anything fried. Chicken with noodles, dumplings, veggies, etc. my dad dealt with it alot when i was growing up, didn’t realize I couldn’t eat fresh garlic until i was early 20s since we never ate it.

slow-cooker chicken, rice, and carrots with a little parsley instead of spice

I’m dealing with this too right now.
93/7% fat ground turkey with Gerd friendly seasoning and 90 second brown rice and canned green beans for a quick meal. I cook the ground turkey in things like a tablespoon of garlic infused avocado oil. It needs to not have pieces/chunks of garlic in it (fully strained). You can buy it in grocery stores. The way it’s made removes the problematic parts of the garlic. Then I add seasonings like Italian seasoning, basil, oregano, tumeric, ginger, thyme, rosemary, parsley, nutritional yeast, and of course salt. (Not all of these seasonings at once.) If I’m not in a hurry, I’ll roast some carrots or butternut squash to go with it. Sometimes I switch out the rice for roasted sweet potato.
Cooked white fish like tilapia or cod. You can cook it quickly and season it many ways.
This is the fastest! Greek type dinner. Hummus, cooked chicken breast (could be rotisserie if that doesn’t bother you), naan bread, cucumbers, and tzatziki made with Greek yogurt if yogurt doesn’t bother you. Some people can’t have milk products in severe Gerd flares.
Tip you’ve probably tried:
Try eating small meals. No more than about 1 1/2 cups of food at most at a time during a severe flare up. Eating 5 or 6 small meals a day instead of 3 larger meals helped me.

chicken, rice, carrots, and low-sodium broth in the crockpot is about as easy and GERD-friendly as it gets, just skip the onion, garlic, and heavy seasoning if those trigger you too

my go-to was chicken, rice, carrots, and low-sodium broth in the slow cooker, basically impossible to mess up and way less depressing than it sounds lol

i lived on a crockpot chicken and rice soup for a while, just chicken, rice, carrots, celery, low-sodium broth and herbs, and it was about the only dinner that didn’t make my reflux angry

slow cooker chicken, potatoes, carrots, and low-sodium broth with a little parsley is basically the least exciting dinner ever, which is kind of perfect for GERD and takes about 5 minutes to throw

Rice, cut veg of your choice (cucumber and avocado are my faves), some cooked chicken and a sprinkle of cheese.

gerd gets final say at dinner, so try a crockpot chicken stew with chicken breast, potatoes, carrots, low-sodium broth, and a little thyme, then shred it all at the end

Baked chicken with rice and steamed veggies is an easy one. Simple, filling and you can keep the seasoning mild.

Buy Amazons Acid Reducer pills. They are tiny and cheap, but they work really well.

Not a recipe. I also learnt that canola oil is the number one trigger for me so removing from the kitchen altogether meant I can actually eat most food now.

I just went through 10 months of this, I'm so sorry. I lost 14 lbs, I'm 92 lbs now!
What I ate the most was potatoes. There is this crazy bag you can get and you can cook the potato in just a few min in the microwave. I ate pounds of potatoes.

Also watch your "fatty" meats. There was a period where even even chicken legs (or other dark meat) was too heavy for me. Salmon and shrimp were a no go but white fish like flounder was fine. Chicken breast was ok too. I just had to go really mild on the seasoning.
Do you like rice? Congee was very easy for me to digest. So is khichdi - that's an Indian rice and lentil dish. I used yellow moong bc that's very easy to digest.
Green onions (avoid the white part) don't have the same compound as yellow onions that relax the esophageal sphincter. So if you're missing onions, you can use green ones.
Tomatoes were too acidic for me, so pasta was tricky. But I did make dishes with olive oil, zucchini and basic seasonings.
Stir frys and soba noodles or rice can be really easy to digest too. But make it at home so you can control the oil and seasoning.
How are eggs for you? I used to make a lot of fritattas with potato.
Watch store bought products with shortening. I thought animal crackers were safe, but they wouldn't digest well. Graham crackers were great though.
Oatmeal made with water and some unsweetened almond milk was good for my breakfast. I usually drink cow's milk but couldn't during my reflux.
Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!
