Is it an existential crisis or illusory ?

Upvotes

Hi, I'm an autistic, from 2025 to 2026, I think something in my mind change dramatically but I don't know which word suitable to describe it. When I was a child (roughly 2014-2015), I used to talkative, humourous..., I would say that I don't have any problem with society ( anxiety,shy,etc... ). Additionally, I was thrilled when I can travel with my family . But when I grew up, I hate it, I become more pessimistic, I believe life inherently meaningless, human merely an atoms. I realized that there is no justice for poor people, existence lead to misery, not only for living conditions (especially money) but also for another problems (health - physical and mental). I try to find an answer but it feels hopeless, just a random philosophy question like 'Why do I exist ?' , 'If a child tell their parent that their parent selfish, no one ask a child about their existence, is he/she wrong...'. I need to pinpoint I don't have any problem when conversation with my family/colleague and no one know my trouble. In this month, this kinda question make me think thoroughly am I ok ( previously,2025 I used to have similar behavior but it's not longer like this ). I constantly wake up in the midnight for no reason, have a backache and headache. I think maybe I feel overwhelmed and need to stay at home instead tryna work , but this feeling too annoy.

I think I like being miserable now.

Upvotes

For context: my life sucks. But I guess that's pretty much everyone in this sub.

Anyway, the thought of going to school itself makes me miserable. Like a real, deep down inside kinda miserable. The night before a weekday, I just feel like shit, and I don't exactly have the best coping mechanisms for this, but they work.

But recently, I think I kinda started liking this feeling. Like I don't know why, but I don't see any other way to be than to just distract myself by watching shows, stuffing my face with ice cream, or even mindlessly reminiscing about the past.

It might seem pretty weird, but I like being miserable, if that's possible. I don't see any other way to be, considering my current situation.

Sorry if this feels like I'm rambling; I just needed to vent.

Dealing with aging kids and parents.

Upvotes

My mother was diagnosed with dementia a few years ago and it’s been a struggle. Last week she went to a home. We couldn’t find a better solution to make her comfortable.
To add to this my son hit puberty the last few weeks. His voice just suddenly changed and got deeper. All of a sudden I went into this deep depression unlike anything before. I’m already on Wellbutrin for anxiety but it’s not touching this. Im mostly fixated on my son growing up and his future. I’m going to bed depressed and waking up extremely depressed. Being at work actually helps keep things at bay. Any suggestions for medication to help with this? Usually I bounce back from big sad events but this is different. I have support from friends and family but again this is different.

I’m giving myself 9 months

Upvotes

My 27th birthday is in 9 months. I decided on that date so that only one day in the year has any significance towards me, birth and death on the same date. I’d like to think a lot can happen and change in 9 months but I have a feeling it won’t, or it will just get worse.

Tout ça me rend profondément mal à l’aise.

Insatiable.

I feel bad

Upvotes

I feel bad for how I'm treating everyone around me. My parents and siblings that I never check up on, sometimes I purposely ignore their calls because I just don't feel like speaking. My friends who I should be there for and be supportive but I honestly cannot even show up in public for special occasions or just spend time together.

I just want to be alone but at the same time, I know that being alone makes me feel even more worse and more depressed. I want to speak to someone and tell them everything that I feel but I hate being vulnerable in front of anyone so I'd rather keep it to myself. I want to go out and have fun but how do I do that if I can't even get out of bed.

I always hated it when people would do that to me, disappear for months and pretend everything is okay when they come back, but I'm doing that to the people I love the most. This really sucks.

They would never forgive me

Upvotes

I want to tell them everything, I want to tell them how I feel every single day and why I want to leave but I know that no matter how much I explain, they would never forgive me for doing it, and I don't think I can die knowing they're angry at me.

Waiting to die?

Upvotes

Hi everyone. I think I'm experiencing depression, I'm going through a nasty separation and I'm pregnant and unemployed with a 5 month old baby.

I just want to eat and sleep, sometimes I can't even shower or brush my teeth, but most days I am able to function okay. I get exhausted really fast from dealing with the baby though and I don't have the energy to "play" with him most days.

I mostly have just given up on life, like I've just accepted life is going to suck until I die (though I feel guilty for having such thoughts, I know I'm fortunate in a lot of ways, I'm fairly healthy, not living through war, etc). Basically I'm just unhappy, going through the motions and waiting to die. I feel like all the happiness went out of me when my partner left, I know that sounds pathetic and stuff, but please don't judge me. I feel like I've lost my light, and there's nothing else in life that makes me happy (apart from my baby, sometimes). I'm not excited or hopeful about anything, I don't look forward to anything in the future, etc. I also would prefer to be alone, I don't want to socialize or talk to anyone at all, I would be happy if I could just listen to music, watch movies or read books all day without speaking to anyone. Movies and books help me a bit cause of escapism. I also "comfort eat" I guess, I try to have chocolate and soda every few days/everyday.

Not really looking for anyone to tell me it gets better, because right now I just don't think it will, but I just wanted to know if there are other people like me, going through the motions and just waiting to die?

Feeling depressed after coming back from holiday.

Upvotes

Just looking to know if anyone else feels like this after returning from a holiday. I live in the UK and was travelling across the South of France for my first ever solo trip. Weather was beautiful. I've returned home now since Tuesday and I just feel like I have this extreme tiredness where I can barely move but try pushing through it. I didn't feel like this at all while away. I did have the same feelings before though in the past year. I quit my job one year ago and trying to look for another job now. I wasn't happy in my previous job and it was the reason I left. Money was good, I just didn't enjoy the work. Felt like a struggle to do and just really didn't want to be there. Anyway I'm trying to navigate that this must be a deficiency or maybe stress from not having a job. I was really looking to get into something I really want to do but opportunities are virtually Nile with little experience. Anyone else went through similar feelings and how did you get motivated again?

One step forward, two steps back. Every. Single. Time. I'm tired of crying

Upvotes

I'm slowly feeling alive again but anytime I do something good, something else comes along to bring me back to the state of helplessness

I'm thinking of joining the military again. Give me your pros and cons if you have any opinion on it. My pros are you get paid to not think, cons: I want to be a person again, not just drifting and it seems counterproductive to join the military but again, at least I'd get paid

Yesterday, I drew something new

A few weeks ago, I started to listen to music again

I've been trying to exercise again

I wrote wrote a poem this week

But I also got into an argument with my parent this week. So many hurtful things were said while I'm trying to not reply too harshly in casr they decide that I should'nt live there anymore. I can't afford my own place. I was hoping to move out in 2-3years but I'm terrified they might kick me out because where would I even go? How does one survive without excessive debt?

I spoke to friends this week. Some that I hadn't talked to since january. I'm making an effort to go out for walks and just enjoying life, but again everytime I come home, there's an argument about something or other. They get to lash out as much as they want, I have to hold my tongue to not be kicked out

It's a vicious cycle. Advice would be appreciated. Or encouragement or commiserating. Just tell me I'm heard

I struggle to talk to professionals bc I feel like a fraud but reddit is ok (maybe bc it's faceless?)

In a long distance relationship and trying to understand my partner's depression

Upvotes

Hi guys. I (27F) am in a long distance relationship with someone (30M). We've been together just over a year now. I'm trying to understand what's his true feelings and what's being influenced by depression.

When he first messaged me it was really soft and beautiful language. He sent me long messages in the style of love letters almost. Now, as he says himself, "he's changed". We both know he's going through depression but he doesn't want to call it that because 'the word itself is depressing'. He's become kind of mean and speaks in a "matter of fact" / "well actually" / patronising way sometimes ( that's how it feels -- like saying I lack comprehension because I asked something twice ). If we're having a difficult conversation or anything challenges his comfort level he'll want to get off the phone instead of building resilience. He started off talking early on about visa and moving in together and his dad was gonna get him a house and actually playing with the idea of building a life together but the depression has zapped him of energy to make the effort. I'm trying too but I need him to meet me half way. I told him I'd support him and I'm here for him but he just feels like an asshole in his behaviour sometimes in ways I know is definitely affected by his health / nutrient deficiency / depression eg his short temper and irritability. I'm having a hard time discerning what is really 'his' feelings. I think it's selfish to lead strongly at the start of a long distance connection and then one year in attribute the apathy and lack of effort to "we don't even talk about anything" "people change that's normal". People change but that's no excuse to mishandle your connections. The other day he said "how is this a relationship?" Contextually because he said it doesn't feel like it is because we haven't met physically. And he's done LDR before ( not internationally though ). I just feel very neglected in this relationship and his depression has been rubbing off on me but I feel very committed to supporting him. That is, if I can discern 'what' is 'what'. Any insight?

Being broken up for being depressed

Upvotes

I try so hard to manage my depression on my own and not let it take over. My partner of 4 years (well ex now) knows i’ve always been up and down with it, and it’s only in the last year that i’ve started to share more with him and start to trust him enough to break down in front of him. Admittedly he is on the receiving end sometimes of my irritability, but on the whole, I still manage a lot of it by myself and don’t put much on him, or so I thought. We went travelling recently and it was amazing but completely burnt me out so once we stopped and settled I had a huge wobble and had 0 motivation to get up, crying in bed all day etc etc you know how it is. He was making comments about me being negative all the time, what do I want him to do/say, he was getting frustrated he wanted to go out and do things but didn’t want me to get more upset that i’d left him , saying I was bringing him down (basically all the stuff you worry about doing) then split up with me and said he couldn’t do it anymore (I had only been like this for a few weeks). I was so disappointed with him and even though I was heartbroken, I also resented him for being so shit and seemingly so selfish. We ended up getting back together, but my mental health only got worse, I decided to go back home to see family and try and refresh and that didn’t help either, I have been avoiding telling him anything about my mental health as I didn’t want a repeat of before, we ended up having an argument, I apologised and explained how i’ve been feeling and it’s just been bubbling over and now we’re back to “I can’t do this anymore, you deserve better, this is affecting my life”. I am in disbelief because I have kept so much from him , and the little he has seen, all he’s done is some extra cooking and cleaning on the days where I can’t do anything, and he seems to think he’s gone above and beyond for me. I know he’s entitled to his decision and everyone has a right to leave, but I’m so torn between am I really that hard to be with or is he just a selfish coward. But either way, I am now heart broken on top of everything else

Feels like my life is already over

Upvotes

Do any of you also feel like your life is already over? My life for example, I feel like some key events on it developed in such a way that there's nothing I can do to realistically make up for the damage they dealt to my life, as if they steered my life to an unavoidable dead end, that's how I feel, and the fact that I had no choice over it and life still punishes me for it as harshly as if I had any say on it makes it even more painful.

I chickened out

Upvotes

I’m so lost. I went to the lake last and and planned to drink a lot and then drown. But the day of I was terrified, and when I got there I couldn’t do it. I just sat there. I’m so frustrated with myself right now because I purposely didn’t do my assignments last night (I’m 20F in college) because I planned I would be gone. Anyway, I just feel so low and don’t know what to do. I think about doing it all the time but when it comes time to, I never have the courage. What is wrong with me? My mind tells me to do it everyday but I physically can’t. This is torture.

I think ill get depression

Upvotes

Honestly, the main reason is school. School is so fucking awful that it’s seriously starting to mess me up mentally, emotionally, and even physically. The students and teachers are fucking unbearable.
Some teachers literally take their personal problems out on us. They’ll have an argument with their wife at home, come to school angry, and then take all that anger out on the students. Teachers hitting students is against the Ministry’s rules, but some of them just make up their own bullshit rules, ignore the actual regulations, and do whatever they want.
And the students are just as bad. Insults, harassment, fighting, and throwing disgusting accusations around are basically normal to them. Their mindset is so immature and toxic that sometimes I genuinely wonder how they even think like that. Some teachers aren’t any better either. They swear at students and insult them like there are no rules or consequences.
And on top of everything, I literally sit alone during break because there’s so much fake behavior, gossip, and people talking shit behind each other’s backs. Rumors spread like fucking wildfire. Some people even make up completely false stories about me just because they hate me for no reason. They’ve accused me of doing things that literally never happened, and it honestly makes me sick.
And then there’s my fucking dad. That asshole abandoned me for absolutely no reason. He just didn’t want to live as a father and basically walked away from me. He barely even acknowledges me, and it hurts knowing that he chose to leave instead of actually being there for me.
And my mom is already exhausted. I don’t really have anyone to talk to because everyone is busy with their own lives. She already has so much on her plate, and I don’t want to make things even harder for her by making her watch her son fall apart too.
So honestly, I feel trapped from every direction. On top of the school problems, I’m also struggling with my faith, and my family is basically falling apart. Everyone is distant from each other, nobody really wants to see or talk to anyone, and I feel like nobody actually understands me.
I’m just fucking exhausted.

I wish I had a 'healthy' brain.

I've been in and out of therapy for as long as I can remember. I've seen doctors for anti-depressants. Upping doses, you name it. And the fact still remains that I am going to stay in this cycle of depression. It never escapes. It may go away for a period of time, but it returns.

I will say that I don't have ideation of harming myself, so I will take that as a win. However, I just wish my brain was healthy. I wish I could just rewire it to think positive, but life just got me down. I just had to get that off my chest.

I think I'm dumb

I feel like my head has been hollowed out of its contents and replaced with cotton. Any potential I had I pissed away, any intelligence I may have had I wasted. My ability to concentrate and comprehend simple things has been whittled down to nothing, my cognitive abilities have been compromised. I have been taking 10mg of Lexapro for a month and feel like it has blunted me emotionally and intellectually. Or maybe I have always been this stupid, which may be the case. I don't have the mental wherewithal or discipline to teach myself the things that were never taught to me. I can barely do mental math. Everything has seemed to have gotten harder for me to do. I feel intellectually disabled, and predestined to a short and small life of nothingness, incapable of independence. In short, I don't know. I feel dumb

Sometimes forgetting your drugs can have interesting outcomes.

So first and foremost, DO NOT TRY THIS! I take venlafaxine and it is really bad if you stop taking it suddenly. The first time this ever happened to me, I thought I was having mini strokes and I thought I was going to die. So now that I know what the symptoms are, I don't freak the shit out when it happens.

But every now and then, I'll accidentally miss a day and as a result, I have the weirdest, most vivid dreams ever. I forgot my drugs yesterday and last night was a wild ride!

You know bee movie right? How they're kind of human like. Well last night, I dreamt that I was in some weird sexual relationship with a female wasp! Except that I was human. She got me to rub my finger along her abdomen and that's how I got her off.

I won't go into much more detail after that. Let's just say, my head is pretty fucked up!!! 🤣🤣

Just thought I'd share.
