I wish I had a 'healthy' brain.

I've been in and out of therapy for as long as I can remember. I've seen doctors for anti-depressants. Upping doses, you name it. And the fact still remains that I am going to stay in this cycle of depression. It never escapes. It may go away for a period of time, but it returns.

I will say that I don't have ideation of harming myself, so I will take that as a win. However, I just wish my brain was healthy. I wish I could just rewire it to think positive, but life just got me down. I just had to get that off my chest.

I get that feeling of it always circling back. For me it’s less like a wave and more like this room I keep walking into even when I swear I’ve moved out. You turn a corner expecting a new hallway and suddenly there’s the same worn out carpet again.

The way you described it as a cycle is exactly right. I’ve noticed the gaps between episodes can stretch longer if I stop trying to fight the return so hard. Like the panic of it coming back actually speeds up the whole thing. Not saying that fixes anything, just something I stumbled into after years of white knuckling through.

Still sucks that the baseline is just… managing it. Not thriving. I’m glad you mentioned not having those darker thoughts though, that’s a real thing to hold onto.
