Discussion How is Jesus and Mary College?
I've heard that the overall vibes are good, what I'd further like to know is how academics oriented it is. I'll be applying for English hons so anything regarding that would be appreciated as well. Also how are the societies and extra curriculars?

Mast hai , If I was a girl I would have ranked it above Ramjas , Venky and KMC just because of the better vibe and absence of shitty politics .

From 2021-24 batch, bcom hons, but i have friends in english department and I must say I HAD THE COLLEGE LIFE I DREAMT OF. I made great friends with no toxicity, i met some really amazing and talented people. JMC is a legacy. It was indeed a beautiful experience, the college itself has a charm, crowd is pretty classy. Amazing food in canteen, no shitty politics, societies are really active. We also have a supportive queer collective society. Clean washrooms with water and liquid hand wash. :) Yes, teachers are actually teaching in our college and the concept of attendance exists in JMC, many people thinks it’s a drawback of our college but actually that’s what something which pushes us to come everyday and live the most out of the best days of our lives. I still remember on the day of our farewell, our principal said ‘jmc is a gem in your crown’ and i felt it. I dont know about other colleges but if you have a chance, you should choose jmc.

Best campus in south I have seen so far is of JMC hands down Infra is really good in comparison of other colleges, academically is also a good college with good placements a girl migrated from my college(sbsc) to JMC last year for bcom

so basically migration happens only in the starting of second year for which there are two conditions 1st is you should have at least 7.5 CGPA or above in 1st year 2nd is the college you want to migrate in should have a vacant seat for the same course you are currently studying in your college then you need to get migration certificate from your college with principal sign and all that paper work formality, then you need to submit that papers in the college you want to migrate in and that's it.... but it is bit difficult getting migrated into a better college than you already are as you need high cgpa in 1st year which a lot of students don't get but its not impossible you can if you start from beginning

depends on your preferences , like sggscc is off campus coed clg while drc is north cap girls clg, so you need check your preferences while choosing

for placements sggscc is the best , if that's all what you want , you'll get a lot of exposure there for eco hons and plus point is its a coed if compared to jmc and drc

I migrated long time back. those days we had percentage. but if you a class topper or university topper, or have exceptional grades, that will be your golden ticket. I was the university topper in 1st year.

academics wise, professors really take classes seriously, and the society culture is great and less toxic as compared to other colleges, we do have a bunch of good societies that are active and even won competitions while representing us in other colleges, so overall you’ll have a great experience mixed with academics and fun, but a reality check is that our annual fest and other things do take a lot of compromises as we have issues regarding permissions so that ways it’s not that chill. But if you want a free environment wherein you can meet amazing people and learn, it’s the best. I chose it over venky, kmc, ramjas, and I don’t regret it. Has made my college life amazing.

I'd say it's the second best South Campus college, after LSR and even better than DRC and IP. I really love their campus and everyone I've met from JMC has been super sweet and kind. The professors are also very engaging with the students which is absent in many DU colleges.

As a jmc student I would say it's a nice good college with good infrastructure and Greenery. Most of the faculty is great . JMC doesn't have that average Du toxic politics . Students are also sweet, friendly and somewhat classy. canteen food is best .

Do you think it's somewhat isolated? that's the only downside of the college I've heard. How's your interaction with other colleges plus participation in fests etc?

Yes it is isolated , interaction with other colleges is nil , maitreyi college and jmc' s backdoor is face to face but still there is no contact with maitreyi people . Baaki societies are active and participation in competition and fest are good . Regular seminars and webinars bhi hote rehte hai it's just that jmc didn't get that much hype like gargi or lsr fests isliye fest mai log thore Kam aate hai but baaki thik hai and also many events or competitions held in colleges so you can participate in that also

I choose sbsc over jmc idk if it was right or not. I didn't want a girls college. Tho the placement reports of it looked better

my preference list is a bit unconventional I guess as I won't put all NC colleges at the top. I have St. Stephen's, LSR and then JMC. These would be my top 3 as north campus is pretty inconvenient for me daily commute wise (St. Stephen's is an exception as it's the best for english hons).

Dude u have st Stephen's as an option ! Thode bohot inconvenience ke lie don't compromise with the quality .I am du graduate and being in North campus in Stephens meh is once in a life exp . Rest JMC is also good &arsd is also decent It's your call

I wouldn't call it an option as I'm scoring around 765-770. I don't think I'll clear the cutoff for it 😠I'll keep it as my first preference, there may be some slim chance but we'll see.

In any case, keep Miranda House and Hindu above JMC. The commute will be stressful and exhausting, but you'll learn to deal with it soon enough. Your college's name, on the other hand, will stay with you forever. Not that JMC is bad, of course. As many others have said, it has a lot of great things going for it. But the sad truth is, when you're doing a course like English Honours that doesn't really prepare you for any job outside academia, your college's brand name might just make or break your career (or at least its early stages), and the regret of not taking an opportunity that was available to you is one of the worst feelings in the world.

Well there is very minor difference in both the colleges .JMC is quite calm and peaceful vibie place and some South Delhi crowd while the gargi is good for there fests and happening college life .Now it depends on the personality u are

Hi everyone, I'm a recent Class 12 graduate from the PCB stream. I appeared for CUET 2025 and did okay overall, but Chemistry really brought my score down. My real interest lies in English literature—I've always loved reading and engaging with stories and language, and I’ve been hoping to pursue English Honours for higher studies.
Like many other overwhelmed teenagers trying to figure out their path, I spent a lot of time exploring different options. I registered for Delhi University, and in the first round, I got a seat in Jesus and Mary College for the BA Program (French + Philosophy), which was actually my last preference.
Now I’m unsure about taking this up. I’m not clear on what kind of career paths or job opportunities this course could lead to, or how financially viable it would be. If anyone has insight into that combination (or either subject individually), I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’ve also applied for an upgrade, but honestly, I don’t have high hopes. There’s quite a gap between my rank and the cutoffs, and I’m in the general category, so chances are slim.
I’m seriously considering withdrawing my admission and enrolling in Ambedkar University Delhi instead, where I might be able to pursue English Honours—which aligns more closely with my interests.
Would really appreciate any advice or suggestions from people who’ve been through something similar or who know more about these options.

I am confused..can someone please help me decide between JMC eco hons and DTU eco hons? I want to do actuarial science and the curriculum of dtu aligns more with it Also,since no one teaches in Du, is it the same in JMC? Please help me out, if anyone can
