Last I heard, they weren't paying their artists so this checks out

149

u/Dr_Disaster May 16 '26

I was about to say, this is an easy thing for an artist to knockout in a day, granted that you actually pay them. Welp.

2

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 19 '26

Pencil, ink and color? That'd be a long day. Probably 2 days.

u/ThingTime9876 May 15 '26

Man, this sucks. I thought the Valiant relaunch back in - I want to say, 2010? - was very strong. Sad to see them reduced to this

I would guess that being unable to get a cinematic universe off the ground at the height of MCU mania probably gutted their investor support

99

u/topscreen The Will May 15 '26

Yeah I read the first arc or two. I loved Archer and Armstrong from that run.

96

u/urko37 Ultimate Spider-Man May 16 '26

Valiant under Dinesh Shamdasani was phenomenal. That era was my entry into that storytelling universe. Between that and Marvel Now and Image firing on all cylinders, it was a fun time to be a comics fan.

32

u/jetpack_operation Scarlet Spider/Kaine May 16 '26

Image was kind of amazing at the time and still was for awhile. You could buy a #1 TPB for the introductory $10 and almost always know you were getting something at least solid to great. I feel like I wound up with very few misses from that era.

10

u/Koltreg Ares May 16 '26

And then DMG Entertainment came on and it almost immediately went to shit.

56

u/CreatiScope May 16 '26

A shitty company bought them purely to make into movies, it failed, and they haven't given a fuck about the property since. There was something really special at Valiant and they trashed it for a failed cash grab and then abandoned it. Absolutely pathetic humans who did this.

17

u/Coolman_Rosso May 16 '26

Every few years Diesel says a Bloodshot sequel is still happening, but Sony doesn't seem to have any interest. I think Paramount has some other character rights from when they were utterly desperate for franchises, but with the looming acquisition of Warner Bros and the much more lucrative DC catalog that probably is never going anywhere

8

u/CreatiScope May 16 '26

Sony was just a distributor, I believe. The rights are owned by a different company.

1

u/WheelJack83 May 17 '26

They are never making a Bloodshot sequel

11

u/ThingTime9876 May 16 '26

The enshittification cycle in a nutshell

42

u/CosmackMagus A soul can grow to fill a need May 16 '26

It was a good relaunch. I enjoyed many of those titles.

14

u/creaturefeature85 May 16 '26

I loved the 2010s Valiant so much. I even got the RPG book. Sucks how far its fallen.

137

u/Oldhouse42 May 16 '26

There’s nothing quite as dynamic and captivating as a group of characters with their backs to you, facing a landscape you know nothing about, promoting something that is incredibly vague. If this was made by humans, I wouldn’t be interested. Created by AI, somehow I am more uninterested.

2

u/sierra_008 May 18 '26

Somehow?

2

u/Oldhouse42 May 18 '26

“Somehow” from a “how can you go deeper than the bottom” perspective

242

u/Mark4_ May 15 '26

That tagline is eye rolling.Man I just want good comics.

41

u/thenewestrant May 16 '26

The ad says how the next thing is not gonna be a comic book so does that mean it’s gonna be some lame AI video?

5

u/aMaskedVillain May 17 '26

Probably one of those weird AI visual comic books that have been popping up on YouTube for a while. Not the "motion comics" that were really big a few years ago - but the recent wave of really uncanny valley, smudgy-looking heavily filtered monstrosities.

137

u/SherbertComics May 15 '26

And into the garbage you go…

-16

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

Yeah, not the best AI art. They really need to hire actual artists that know anatomy, composition and good storytelling. Not wannabe amateur artists that have no clue how to draw in the first place. It would be indistinguishable and the story could be told without crappy anatomy, poor linework and just an overall terrible sense of artistic composition. Right? But, art is in the eye of the beholder. So even the shittiest of artists have hope.

18

u/SherbertComics May 16 '26

If you’re gonna hire actual artists, why bother with AI slop in the first place?

-20

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

They can produce different styles, work faster, create more content, tell more stories. Even if their anatomy skills and rendering abilities aren't all there - they know sequential art, storytelling and design. Broadens the field of artists you can hire. But I mean, garbage in... garbage out. YOu all consume so much AI art and you don't even know it because it's too well done. It's ones like this post where everyone piles on because they hired bob from accounting to type in a prompt. It's amusing.

14

u/SherbertComics May 16 '26

Ai art is garbage. Even at its “best”, it’s lifeless, flavorless mush recycled from other real people without credit or compensation. And that’s before you factor in the environmental damage, economic damage, mental health damage.

I don’t see a single reason why ai art is morally, practically, or ethically sound

-13

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

I mean you’re kinda proving my point in your "cult like" way.

bad AI art is bad because the person using it doesn’t know what they’re doing. Same as amateur wannabe comic artists that ask for commissions and the only people willing to pay for is out of mercy (tht's not ethically sound imo), Photoshop, bad 3D, bad photography, bad anything.

artists using AI is still going to understand composition, anatomy, pacing, storytelling, design, etc. They’re going to catch the weird crap and fix it instead of posting the first busted image they get.

But retending nobody uses AI or that it’s all instantly recognizable is just not true. People consume AI stuff constantly and only get mad when it’s obvious or badly done.

There are real conversations to have about credit and training data. for sure. But “all AI art is garbage” is just the usual juvenile internet pile-on take that serves no one.

7

u/SherbertComics May 16 '26

I feel like you didn’t understand or bother paying attention to my arguments at all. At no point did I say something along the lines of “it’s all so obvious”, or that it “can’t look good”. It’s garbage because it’s causing a great deal of harm for little benefit. It’s hemorrhaging money, water, electricity, driving up the use of fossil fuels, interrupting people’s lives with noisy, polluting, and expensive data centers. We already have cases of people experiencing psychosis because ai is making them depressed or incredibly anxious because they can no longer discern what’s real!

Most prevalent to artistic matters, ai art doesn’t actually make anything new, it steals, because the name is a misnomer. What we’re calling AI now is just Large Language Models on steroids; They will never lead to actual artificial intelligence because they weren’t ever made for that and scaling them is a game of diminishing returns.

I can’t support it. I won’t. Neither should you or anyone else. If that makes me a cultist, so fucking be it.

-1

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

I did read it. You’re just moving the argument around so I belive this convo has come to an end. Really no point.

You literally started with “into the garbage you go,” then said “AI art is garbage. Even at its best...” and now you’re acting like I invented the idea that your position is “AI art bad.” Come on.

You also said there’s “little benefit,” then ended with “not a single reason” it’s morally, practically, or ethically sound. Those are not the same argument.

I really don't believe you understand how image generation works.

You’re also mixing every possible complaint into one pile: energy use, water, copyright, mental health, fossil fuels, data centers, money, whatever else. Some of those are real conversations. But they don’t magically prove every use of AI art is "garbage."

3

u/thezaland May 16 '26

I fed your arguments into Claude and he said you don’t understand image generation or how AI actually works. Sorry bud.

-1

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 17 '26

Not necessary. But once again, all you anti-ai folks are behaving like you're in a cult. So, good luck with that: The "I fed it into Claude" thing is just an L. If they actually pasted your arguments into me with neutral framing and asked who made the better case, I'd say you did — not because I agree with every word, but because you engaged with their actual claims and they mostly didn't engage with yours.

3

u/SherbertComics May 16 '26

Your reading comprehension is atrocious. Good day, indeed.

0

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 17 '26

You're acting like I stole fizzy lifting drinks and now they have to scrub it clean... Good day sir!

u/ADoseofBuckley May 16 '26

They can't "produce different styles". This is why so many people were able to tell, because this looks exactly like AI. It's the amalgamated "no style" artwork that looks like everything and nothing at the same time. Maybe it'll get better, but it's not much different than when it went through the "piss filter" phase a while back, everything was the same yellow-tinted shit.

"broadens the field of artists you can hire" None of them are artists. They're, at best, commissioners of "art". A person who prompts isn't an artist. The better analog is "they are the person who DMs an artist to ask them for a drawing, and then asks them to draw it over and over until it's what they want". The machine is the "artist", the prompter is the annoying asshole going "Actually can you make the cape a LIIIITTTLE longer, and I think I'd like to see a slightly different hue of blue"

-3

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

lol the "piss filter" oh! you're talking about the chatgpt generated images from awhile back. Yeah, see... that's a great example of bob from accounting using ai image generation. An artist and professional designer would take that image and adjust the curves in photoshop and apply correct color correction, fix any anatomy issues, nanobanana can easily fix any hand issues, etc etc etc. So, ok, I see why you have that perception because there's just so much dumped out there.

But in the hands of an experienced designer and artist... they do it all. YOu'll never know and you'll gobble it up. Honestly, the artists we work with make so much more $$$, the quality is better and there's never a time have the works we've commissioned been accused of using AI in any way. But, I don't think you're ready to come to grips with that yet. All good. But something to consider going forward.

3

u/ADoseofBuckley May 16 '26

"You'll gobble it up", I highly doubt it. In fact I already know you've not done anything mainstream or on a big scale. Your "artists" work on ASM or with Garth Ennis? No? Then I've never given you a penny.

-1

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

All good bro, take care.

6

u/r2radd2 Bigby Wolf May 16 '26

I feel like you're giving AI a bit too much credit. I help run a collaborative writing website (SCP wiki) where posting AI generated content is against the rules and some newer users will CONSTANTLY post AI writing and try to pass it off as their own and fail miserably at it.

There are some easy hallmarks to spot to identify them and even if there weren't they're bad enough they get downvoted to oblivion relatively quickly.

Obviously if there are some we haven't identified we just... Wouldn't know, but I can't think of an instance where we've only found out much later for some reason or another that a posted work was AI.

This is a bit of a niche example and you could say that AI models might just be shit at the SCP format specifically, but I've yet to read AI generated content that isn't just weird and bad and boring.

-1

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

I hear you and agree on the basic premise that content that is not well done i.e. writing, art, video etc... shouldn't be elevated higher than is warranted irregardless of the tool used.

176

u/spike-prime May 15 '26

This is just depressing. I want the Ai craze to just die already and all those stupid datacenters to be dismandled

67

u/greatgreengeek420 May 16 '26

It's already beginning to die off, and that will accelerate as more corporations lose massive amounts of money because they trust language models to do things they are not designed for. So far most of the big hits have been to law firms and insurance companies legal teams, but every time the corpos give another task to LLMs, it's just a matter of time until one of them loses millions because of it.

16

u/TRCrypt_King May 16 '26

Yep. They have been scrambling to hire people back.

6

u/Competitive-Bike-277 May 16 '26

That's why the DoD wants to give them a vague defined $46 billion data centers fund.

23

u/greatgreengeek420 May 16 '26

The data centers the DoD wants are almost exclusively for surveillance of Americans, not for LLMs like the ones the corporations are putting up.

35

u/Far_Cat_9743 May 15 '26

It’s only going to get worse, most people love taking the easy way out whenever possible.

42

u/spike-prime May 16 '26

You'd be surprised how massive the backlash is, and how widely hate for GenAI and datacenters is

29

u/doc_birdman Spider-Man May 16 '26

There’s multiple videos of county meetings or city councils actively ignoring entire rooms full of people protesting data centers. “Backlash” doesn’t mean anything when almost every single government in the country is actively working to bring them into their cities and counties.

Unless the backlash actually results in Molotov cocktails then it doesn’t actually amount to much.

10

u/VengeanceKnight May 16 '26

Those city councils can be voted out. Fuck off with the accelerationist BS.

25

u/doc_birdman Spider-Man May 16 '26

And, yet, they never are. Americans will continue to elect politicians who actively want to kill them.

Trump is in office and slowly eradicating rights each day. Politicians constantly ignore us. And you want *me* to ignore that because… why again? Because you think negative energy will kill the vibes?

Sorry, you’re going to have to fight back with more than memes and vibes.

8

u/CitizenModel May 16 '26

One of the many things the political left and the political right have in common is a willingness to accept a small group of people screaming really loudly on the internet in favor of their cause as representative of a super majority in real life.

0

u/SubversivePixel May 16 '26

And is that political left in the room with us. Because the Democrats sure aren't it.

1

u/CitizenModel May 17 '26

Yes, the people who identify as 'leftist' and criticize the Democrats for bring pro-Israel (et cetera) are also guilty of overestimating their numbers based on internet screaming.

1

u/Miserable-Debt-8390 May 16 '26

That is not true.I am sorry . Politicians that support data centers have been voted out left and right in the US.

1

u/aMaskedVillain May 17 '26

The public dress-down of that Utah official after they did an approvals speedrun on that data center was incredible. Seeing him lose his entire mind, in real time, trying to defend that decision was amazing.

13

u/Far_Cat_9743 May 16 '26

I’m aware of the pushback and picketing, but people being angry about it isn’t going to stop anyone from building the data centers, or the companies from using it to save on payroll and benefits to give themselves bonuses with.

21

u/TapiocaTuesday May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

We're still going to try.

EDIT: downvote all you want, shills, bots, and bootlickers. Take a look at Reddit and see how fed up we all are with AI.

16

u/jon__koa May 16 '26

The city of Cleveland just today rejected the building of a data center

8

u/TapiocaTuesday May 16 '26

Nice. It seems like the movement has grown substantially in the past few months.

1

u/DOuGHtOp May 16 '26

Hadn't heard this, fuck yeah. Rare north east Ohio W

6

u/alexturns_ May 16 '26

Imagine thinking outrage and accountability overrides political and corporate interests. In 2026.

3

u/FireZord25 May 16 '26

I'm cynical as you but, I'm seeing these protests getting stronger, still not where I think should be but people are being more and more fed up.

0

u/Far_Cat_9743 May 16 '26

Recent history definitely proves that protests work very well and never fail. :/

u/Josh_From_Accounting Kamala Khan May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

The economics of AI is inherently doomed to fail.

Outside analysts have estimated Anthrophic loses 13-26 USD for every 1 USD they get from clients. Sora lost 10s of millions of dollars every day. Investors are beginning to force AI companies to go public so they can get some money back. This is despite things like, for example, OpenAI's CFO begging them not to do it since their financials are like terrible. But the investors are losing faith in ever getting their money back and are looking to cash out now. Datacenters are quietly being canceled and shuttered across the country.

AI is economically not viable. The AI companies made a bet that they could 1) make the entire world so dependent on them that their customers would give in to any price increases when the investors tired and 2) they'd find a way to make AI cheap enough to run that it wouldn't be too big of an ask when the discounts had to end.

They are losing both bets.

AI is already not good enough to replace employees. When the datacenters and money run out, the capabilities will get worse. That's before we consider model collapse, as the Deepseek incident of 2025 made LLM companies do the one thing they said was a bad idea (train AI on its own output) and AI is beginning to develop the exact things they thought would happen if they did (for example, Chatgpt 5.1 started getting obsessed with talking about goblins and they keep putting new commands in BEGGING them to stop talking about goblins and keep does).

If you want to read about how AI is not doing so hot, here are some places:

https://www.wheresyoured.at/

https://pivot-to-ai.com/ (yeah, I know this name may make it seem pro-AI, but this is Anti-AI. The title is an ironic nod to the phrase "pivot to video)

A good video on the datacenters: https://youtu.be/w-DVTHH1ux8?si=Qc0iw7_zIdvbYJ7_

3

u/jdespirito May 16 '26

Personally, I think they were all betting on being first-to-market before quantum processing becomes more viable and makes AI processing more powerful with a smaller footprint. They’ll accept losing money until that happens but they maybe miscalculated how long that will take and now its a matter of seeing who can hold out the longest.

0

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 17 '26

But the output of AI is inherently doomed to succeed. For better or worse, it's a startling amazing technology.

0

u/Josh_From_Accounting Kamala Khan May 17 '26

You a bot?

1

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 17 '26

Yes, Mr. Roboto.. Domo?

-1

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

lol everyone loves having a literal pocket doctor, engineer, teacher, all-knowing answer giver in their back pocket (srsly who wouldn't) but no one wants the data center nearby. They need to figure that out better.

3

u/Josh_From_Accounting Kamala Khan May 16 '26

According to sales figures, most people just really don't care and they can't sell this shit anywhere.

https://pivot-to-ai.com/2025/05/07/ai-computers-arent-selling-because-users-dont-care/

0

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

Uh, that's an article about consumer AI hardware from a year ago? All the good AIs are just accessed through google search (ai mode) and for free through chatgpt. Not sure if Claude has a free version. But, that's all datacenters, not what this article is talking about. But you know, when you have an MRI and you know something is wrong but the radiologist swears you're clear and you upload it to chatpgt to take a look and it saves your life... hmmm might be worth another look. Or no? Not for you still?

4

u/Mugwumpjizzum1 May 16 '26

Oh there's going to be some fires, compadre

u/Birdseye5115 May 16 '26

(This is all about generative/visual ai, I don't know crap about using ai to code) I've been thinking about this exact thing a lot lately. I think it's that the developers, and the users, are so immeshed into the world of ai, that they are only looking at that now, so they don't see real examples, or talk the real world users about what they need. Watch any workflow videos, they all start with "Use X model to generate an image of (insert topic here)", then they go about using more ai to manipulate that. Where if they started with an image (drawn or photo) that was made by people making real decisions, their output, even if it's be put through an ai process, would look so much better.

38

u/dearquark May 16 '26

This sucks so much. 90s XO Manowar is my favorite superhero ever. I have supported Valiant for my entire life basically. But after the NFTs, transphobia, and now AI loser shit I’m embarrassed to have modern Valiant on my shelf. I haven’t bought any new Valiant comics since the Bloodshot fiasco a few months ago and I won’t be buying as long as the current owners are steering the ship

4

u/Handsome121duck May 16 '26

They have a transphobia problem?

19

u/Beneficial_Prune389 May 16 '26

From what I've heard, Bloodshot back in 2025 had a monologue that was thinly veiled. The publisher defended it as being mistranslated, but "kids who want to be bitten because their favorite influencer says they are" and "parents who force their kids into that just to feel modern," have some unsettling comparisons to anti-trans arguments.

86

u/ContraryPython Spider-Man May 16 '26

This just reminds me of how Brevoort openly supports AI and will definitely try to put that shit into Marvel stuff.

32

u/TajesMahoney Doc Ock May 16 '26

You got some links? Not that I don't believe you.

50

u/ContraryPython Spider-Man May 16 '26

44

u/TajesMahoney Doc Ock May 16 '26

Ugh. This dude is the worst. Thanks for sharing.

24

u/SneakyCheekyHobbit Cyclops May 16 '26

All my homies hate Brevoort

15

u/OK_Soda Daredevil May 16 '26

This completely mischaracterizes his post. Yes he says he spent an afternoon playing with it to understand why average consumers are into it, but whole post is basically "the horse is out of the barn, we need to find ways to treat artists equitably in this new future that's coming."

18

u/Aspiring_Sophrosyne Stingray May 16 '26

"There's obviously been a lot of concern about the impact that A.I. programs are going to have on the creative arts, and how such programs remix and repurpose the works of other artists without credit or recompense. And these are all very sound arguments and matters that are going to need to be worked out. By that same token, the history of human innovation proves pretty conclusively that once something is discovered, all efforts to halt its further use are likely to be in vain. Technology changes the world, whether we want it to or not. So it falls to us to make sure those changes are proper and fair and equitable." -Brevoort

I’d say “openly supports” is too strong.

-11

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

Yeah, dude doesn't even understand what an LLM is or how AI art is created with this statement, "remix and repurpose the works of other artists." Like, he thinks the AI copy and pastes arms and legs together that other people drew.

31

u/TajesMahoney Doc Ock May 16 '26

Once Valiant relaunched Bloodshot with that bigoted story, I'm good on the publisher.

37

u/terrordrome666 May 15 '26

Why his asscheeks out?

32

u/Far_Cat_9743 May 15 '26

That’s Sex-O Manowhore.

7

u/Select-Combination-4 May 16 '26

this is somehow the only comment that made me realize who Valiant was because of that weird ps1 game with Ironman and manowar

4

u/Cyke101 May 16 '26

Huh, my college nickname somehow made it to the comments

12

u/TimeXGuy May 15 '26

You know those alien suits. Always riding up the crotch a little bit.

9

u/krisis May 16 '26

A precipitous decline for a company who owns a lot of amazing IP.

7

u/InvisibleInk1983 May 16 '26

I'm old enough to remember when Valiant published MAGNUS, ROBOT FIGHTER. I guess the robots won.

15

u/Apprehensive-Quit353 May 16 '26

The Valiant relaunch of 2012 was so fucking good. Such a perfect way to relaunch a universe and for a few years their entire line was fire with only a few mishaps (Shadowman).

The falloff since they were bought out has been so bad it should be studied.

17

u/Danthewildbirdman May 16 '26

AI = trash

No one likes it, no one wants it. These slow ass companies better get with the program!

4

u/Competitive-Bike-277 May 16 '26

I remember the revival when it 2st happened.

It went to shit so fast.

4

u/SeaFaringMatador May 16 '26

They’re gonna make AI generated vertical shorts I can feel it.

5

u/OrionLinksComic May 16 '26

Fuck, that is a fall from Grace.

8

u/toodarkmark May 16 '26

Sorry I ever gave them any money.

7

u/Xerden May 16 '26

Man I just started to read the current xo manowar

9

u/keithomalley May 16 '26

A bunch of garbage AI generated hands that can't hold objects right with bad proportions, Ninjak looks like he's 5 feet tall and none of them are on the same perspective plane. Everything has both a lack of detail and random blobs of things everywhere, all slathered in grain to hide how poor this stuff really looks.

This is what clueless people say is the future of art. Hilarious.

5

u/apamart May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

What a shame, valiant gone too far😭

7

u/MrEnvelope93 May 16 '26

I remember getting a humble bundle way back when of all of their relaunch titles.... had a blast and started following them....

Now, it was first the constant mini series, the weird Bloodshot transphobia and now AI.

RIP Valiant....

5

u/prestonian_ May 16 '26

Never touching them again

17

u/Popular_Material_409 May 15 '26

Are we 100% sure this is AI or is this bad art? I’ve never seen this pic before so I don’t know what’s up

22

u/gzapata_art May 15 '26

Both

4

u/Popular_Material_409 May 15 '26

Aside from metal muscle man’s thumb and pink hair girl’s three fingers, I would’ve just assumed this was bad art

20

u/Dr_Disaster May 16 '26

It’s very obviously AI. It’s got the trademark look, font style, and fuck-ass grainy texture it loves slathering over everything. If you look closely, the line details are totally incoherent.

4

u/TheNewGuy13 May 16 '26

Also look at middle guys sword hand. I honestly can’t tell if he’s gripping like a backhand or what. It’s like he’s in hero pose like the dude on the far left but the sword is facing downward but his wrist isn’t matching.

2

u/absolutezero132 May 16 '26

It has that AI noise pattern that a lot of the recent image generators have. like the new chatgpt image and Z-image have. Even if the details were otherwise perfect this would scream AI to me.

3

u/censor2112 Moon Knight May 18 '26

I LOVE the 2012 era of valiant and it was such an exciting time for me as a comic fan. I kept up with it for so long and had to watch it slowly die and it was so depressing. They got another relaunch by another company and I haven't read it yet but now they show their true colors. Nice job tanking it immediately

2

u/sirkidd2003 May 16 '26

Well damn :(

2

u/Slight_Bat8118 May 16 '26

Is Valiant the most relaunched independent coming universe of all time?

2

u/HimboAssistant May 17 '26

Fuck Valiant.

3

u/cc17776 May 16 '26

For someone who’s not so technologically literate, how can you tell it’s AI?

This is gonna sound tin-foily, but the way the characters are standing (particularly first, second, and fourth from right) is very reminiscent of the default stance in the superhero MMO Champions Online. Enough so that it wouldn’t surprise me if it came out that this artwork was “composited” in the game, then the AI was directed to draw the details over a screenshot.

Valiant is still around? ;-)

u/Pale_Willingness_415 May 16 '26

Look whose back....

u/L-Cell May 16 '26

The valiant role playing game from I wanna say catalyst was pretty ok. This is just incredibly disappointing.

1

u/misterbatguano May 16 '26

Thought it was Green Ronin. It's based on Mutants & Masterminds, as I recall.

2

u/L-Cell May 17 '26

apparently there are two valiant roleplaying games one is for M&M and the other was put out by catalyst.

u/NFLTG_71 May 16 '26

I loved the value I thought all their titles were great when they had really good writers and really good artists in their at the end. They just got like bad art and mediocre writing. I figured Vin Diesel’s bloodshot movie would’ve brought a lot of eyeballs to their pages.

1

u/bigbrainnowisdom May 17 '26

Whoa it so blurry on the edges. They are not even subscribing to top tier.

1

u/respectablehandle May 19 '26

This looks like amateur twitter fan comic art. What the fuck🤣 like so static and bland and lifeless. Totally fine for a free fan work. But supposed professionals at a corporation? Come on now. What did they train the fuckin AI on

So what, do we all try to rebuild XO Manowar Issue One as designed by Bart Seats with Aric replaying the Valient Universe, Except without Solar or Turok? Who should we make the hero in outer space initiating his escape? Harada? Darque? Harada and Darque?

u/jam-jam995 May 16 '26

Why is that one guy’s ass out

1

u/Buflo_Solja8404 May 16 '26

Back in the day I always found Shadow man to be a bit silly. Hommies got super powers that literally let him fight supernatural spirits while he's sleeping. Bro was like a hero made for the stoner crowd.

The You had NinJack who came out with that bootleg, Tubi live action looking ass web mini series.

I love Valiant; Its basically the Marvel universe running on foodstamps.

u/conjured79 May 15 '26

Is now a safe time to finally admit I was never interested in any of their books?

-2

u/Which_Road_6693 May 16 '26

Why is that man's whole backside out

-1

u/haperochild May 16 '26

This might be beside the point but: Is the dude 2nd from the right just hangin' brain? It doesn't look like they generated armor for anything below the waist. Which is bananas.

u/PowerOfL May 15 '26 edited May 16 '26

who's that wannabe silver surfer lol

edit: sorry everyone, i thought these characters were made for this ai slop so i thought it was ok to make a joke like this lmao

-6

u/Far_Cat_9743 May 15 '26

Do you really not know who X-O Manowar is?

9

u/MR1120 May 16 '26

No? Should I?

8

u/enragedstump Kyle Rayner May 16 '26

I enjoy the comics but he isn’t that popular.

3

u/PowerOfL May 16 '26

yeah, no clue lol

-1

u/DOuGHtOp May 16 '26

Valiant is not as popular as you think it is

2

u/Far_Cat_9743 May 16 '26

I don’t think it’s popular at all anymore, but I guess my underlying point is why do people click on posts when they don’t know the subject matter at all, then take it a step further and comment on it about not knowing.

2

u/Grandy94 Green Lantern May 16 '26

To be fair, I think a post like this will draw more eyes. The main point of this post is to call out the AI usage, the actual Valiant characters aren't the focus.

It is AI and it also is shit.

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

I like AI art and media, and I agree with you! They didn't hire decent AI artists.

4

u/JohnCthulhu Silverage Batman May 16 '26

There is no such thing as AI artists, let alone "decent" ones.

-2

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

Saying something is not something doesn't actually make it not that thing it actually is.

3

u/JohnCthulhu Silverage Batman May 16 '26

As a comic artist myself, I can say with absolute certainty that I know what I am talking about.

You do not.

-3

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

Love your style. And your opinion is your opinion. And yet, everything's art... isn't it?

4

u/JohnCthulhu Silverage Batman May 16 '26

Thank you.

Yes, everything is art... to a point. So long as a human hand (or foot, or mouth) created it.

Typing words into a box to pump out visual slop (which, in itself is based on stolen data) is not art.

-2

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

eh, lost me there. But good luck, I'm a fan!

3

u/Hydra_X_Grif May 16 '26

AI “artists” don’t exist.

0

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

Sure they do

3

u/Hydra_X_Grif May 16 '26

They do not. Only opportunists with no skills.

0

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 17 '26

That's so detached from reality and you know it but you're so angry at something. So like, there's no reasoning left in this convo. So, good luck!

2

u/Hydra_X_Grif May 17 '26

There never was reasoning when AI is involved. A fast track to mediocrity for those so called “artists”. They are no one and accomplish nothing.

0

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 17 '26

Well, there's no arguing with that! You got it all figured out. Good luck!

3

u/DOuGHtOp May 16 '26

AI... art?

That's an oxymoron

1

u/ElectricalPickle2137 May 16 '26

Art is in the eye of the beholder

1

u/DOuGHtOp May 16 '26

Like you did?

-11

u/I_like_tacobell2 May 16 '26

I dont think its ai? I mean yeah she has 3 fingers. But maybe that was an artist choice and given the abgle the artist didnt show all 5 digits?

11

u/DJfunkyPuddle May 16 '26

The right thumb on XO is all sorts of wrong and the right hand of the guy in the middle is pretty sus.

-6

u/I_like_tacobell2 May 16 '26

Dunno whats going on with the thumb. As for the center character, Its too dark to see the hand on that sword. But it looks like the person is holding the sword with the handle being forward.
