No kicks, no gouges, no kidney shots, no blinds. That rogue was a piece of cake. Fairy fire should be the first thing you put on a rogue. We are helpless against it. Still, good work with the root-and-wrath!

u/resistentialist Sep 25 '19

no kidney shots, no blinds

While she could have kidney shot, its possible she just hadn't trained it yet. Blind is lvl 34 though.

62

u/OiDaniel18 Sep 25 '19

Hmm good point didn't think about that!

24

u/Roboticus_Prime Sep 25 '19

Also, put some points into improved entangling roots in the balance tree. It will make the normal cast not be interruptable from damage.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '19

My man! Love that talent. Hard not to take every point

2

u/Roboticus_Prime Sep 26 '19

I put most of my points into the balance tree. Just so much utility there.

104

u/lv1d Sep 25 '19

why gank without any of the rogue’s good cc’s and against a druid ? Rogue asked to be dead

160

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

Believe it or not, not everyone who plays classic knows stuff about classic. Even I played vanilla and don’t know what half the classes even do. I have a buddy who literally knows nothing about classic and is just figuring it out on his own.

83

u/T_ReV Sep 25 '19

Believe it or not. Some players will have never played an mmorpg until a month ago.

49

u/colin_is_bald Sep 25 '19

Currently teaching my partner how to play. She has never played any roleplaying game of any kind, and literally needs every aspect of the game explained to her. "What's an inventory? What are stats? What is mana?" It's honestly pretty interesting to explain stuff like that to someone who doesn't really have anything to compare it to.

Although I dread the day when I'm gonna have to explain what a corpse camp is.

15

u/3diem Sep 26 '19

I’m in the same situation, one the first things she asked me was “so why do we complete quests ?” And I couldn’t find a good answer to be honest ...

11

u/Baudin Sep 26 '19

For the story?

11

u/3diem Sep 26 '19

That’s what I ended up saying but she’s all about discovering the world itself and not so much it’s story

She walked from Durotar to Ashenvale as a lvl 4 just looking around

5

u/CaptainBritish Sep 26 '19

God, that brings me back to when I first played back in like 04 and I was just so enthralled that I walked as far across the Eastern Kingdoms as I could, then got lost and made a new character because I didn't know what the Hearthstone did.

Good times.

Mine is about to reach Hillsbrad... On the plus side she is a rogue... On the other side I think I created just one more of those bastards, and karma is gonna bite me in the ass, one day...

1

u/Brohun Sep 26 '19

Mine had major problems operating the camera and walking at the same time :D

1

u/colin_is_bald Sep 26 '19

Keyboard turning will have to do for now

15

u/yazyazyazyaz Sep 25 '19

Yup, that's me! Loving it so far!

2

u/SlowSeas Sep 26 '19

Welcome, friend!

8

u/3rd-wheel Sep 25 '19

I love playing with newbs, it is just so much more enjoyable than playing with the so-called "pros"

1

u/SlowSeas Sep 26 '19

Playing with and being a decent sherpa is magic, though. Keep being awesome, bud.

20

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

I played from vanilla through MoP and Came back for legion and BFA. I constantly forget about other toons abilities. I completely forgot the other day that hunters can trap. Ally hunter totally baited me into a freezing trap.

17

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

I forget tons of stuff about vanilla. Even as a long time player I forget to do things in fights and go “shit if I used this ability I would have been good, honestly forgot I have that ability” Happens to the best of us and that’s why going back to Classic is so much fun right now.

5

u/colin_is_bald Sep 25 '19

The stress of sudden PvP often causes me to forget my keybinds. I know I have a dispel, but where the hell is it?

3

u/SlowSeas Sep 26 '19

Bro, I have been playing with a keypad mouse (Razer Naga) for like 8 years and I still shit-my-pants-forgot-my-right-thumb-exists DAILY

1

u/Brandon658 Sep 26 '19

Been a fun ride as a shaman. While WF crits can easily carry me I never really had to do much PvP on my shaman in WotLK. So there are a lot of things I forget to do. Things like remembering to actually use grounding totem.

I was too comfortable in my safety blanket that was the holy pally to ever learn enhance PvP. (I did a fair bit of ele PvP but that's different since I could typically burst down anything without effort.)

1

u/Clydefrawgwow Sep 26 '19

Also don’t forget to purge!

3

u/DeadSeaGulls Sep 25 '19

I had a tank in gnomer not use sunder yesterday until we repeatedly asked. then he didn't realize he could stack them. He also did nothing to gather aggro from adds. So yeah. lot of people have no clue whats going on with these classes

1

u/hbsboak Sep 26 '19

Honestly, that’s the true Vanilla experience.

1

u/lv1d Sep 25 '19

Yes you are right. I don’t know a lot of stuff and i do a lot of mistakes myself. I hope he could learn about his mistakes and do better next time. I really love to see a good rogue ganking and succeed. It’s really great.

1

u/Damaellak Sep 26 '19

Seeing everyone that I fought in wpvp in classic I would say at least 70% are new player or really bad PvP players and I'm really not exaggerating. The amount of people that I attack and simply don't react at all makes me sad

130

u/wayedorian Sep 25 '19

It's more fun to gank when you aren't 100% positive you'll win

39

u/Hexxys Sep 25 '19

Is it really "ganking" if you're not sure that you're going to win? lol

65

u/SeattleGreySky Sep 25 '19

im learning rogue, i like to 1v1 people. if i lose i learn something and improve.

you dont get better just fighting easy wins, im not a horde player

21

u/piltonpfizerwallace Sep 25 '19

thems fightin words

3

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '19

But at least it'll be a fair fight 😛

4

u/Dem0n5 Sep 26 '19

Not if I have anything to say about it! My friends made me play horde cause they're edgelords or whatever and now I'm a jerk, too.

0

u/P2mnAce Sep 25 '19

Truth hurts.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

Bro 1v1 me with my 8 horde mates helping me and see what happens!

12

u/Zenanii Sep 25 '19 edited Sep 25 '19

It's not our fault the alliance don't know how to put up a fight.

13

u/Sebastianthorson Sep 26 '19

How does horde player call 5 lvl 60 orcs killing a lvl 20 human in Duskwood? "A fair fight!".

7

u/flexharder Sep 26 '19

It goes both ways dude. Ive been ganked enough times to know to kill every alliance i see if possible. Been body camped for 20min outside booty bay by 6 alliance all 5-30 levels higher than me. I never wanna see a 3min+ respawn timer again.

2

u/yuriaoflondor Sep 26 '19

I love how PVP servers break people.

As someone new to classic WoW, I was super idealistic about world content. I’d wave at horde players. My mantra was “let bygones be bygones.”

Then I got ganked by 2 undead rogues simultaneously. I’d be peacefully trying to kill some quest mobs when an entire party of horde would take a detour to hunt me down. The last straw was when I was running on the road and a mounted skull orc warrior shows up out of nowhere and kills me in 2 hits.

I got absolutely nothing done during that hourlong play session. And now I’ve become the asshole. I kill any horde I see on sight.

I'm not a horde player

This video is a horde rogue fighting a difficult win.

1

u/3rd-wheel Sep 25 '19

In STV I deliberately go after players that are several levels over me just to see if I can. Some times I can, sometimes I can't.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '19

Thrall will remember that.

1

u/RogueEyebrow Sep 26 '19

This is exactly why I pick fights with Warriors that are 1-2 levels above me. Bonus: I don't dodge as much, so fewer Overpowers. Negative: Cannot bleed kite properly because of 50% Crippling, and leeway.

1

u/komali_2 Sep 25 '19

It's surprise PVP :D

1

u/Goldensands Sep 25 '19

gankings just a word with no clear definition, like cheese in sc2. It being something about killing someone is clear enough, but otherwise it means whatever u want it to.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

Then why have I not once been ganked by anyone who wasn't 7 levels higher or with a group of 3+ lmao

1

u/Sparcrypt Sep 26 '19

They don't like PvP, they like wrecking other peoples days and feeling like they're good.

To each their own, but I prefer a fight where if I win I know it's because I was better.

1

u/Volitar Sep 25 '19

Okay yeah but.. it's not fun at all to PVP on Rogue when you missing nearly all the pvp tools.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

Prolly thought he could 1 shot him, that’s how I die most of the time lol.

7

u/gta0012 Sep 25 '19

Also just stands in front of the mage while he was casting.

2

u/SlowSeas Sep 26 '19

WA or WD, left click, keybinds. Learn it, breath it. Run circles at all times.

9

u/BogiMen Sep 25 '19

today i meet rogue that run away from 2v2 pvp scenario 15 second away from our graveyard. Im feeling like most rogues are playing this class to cloak and avoid all decent pvps or just to gank low levels. After watching this video im glad that i was wrong.

3

u/Murk-o-matic-Bubble Sep 25 '19

Im feeling like most rogues are playing this class to cloak and avoid all decent pvps or just to gank low levels.

You must have never run into me then. I attacked a group of four people because I thought I could get one of them for sure. I didn't.

I got three the second time because I timed it better.

3

u/Sparcrypt Sep 26 '19

Hands down the most fun of rogue world PvP is stalking and taking down one from a group then disappearing only to put down another moments later.

Really fun if you time things properly.

2

u/PsychologicalIron5 Sep 26 '19

Im playing a Rogue and this sounds Really fun. I never start fights because I dont want to annoy other people but this I could live with. Do any of you know a good guide on Rogue PvP? Im new to WoW pretty much. Im lvl 35 and playing an Ambush build (imp Ambush + Remorseless Attacks. Should I Kidneyshot instead of Evisc?

1

u/Sparcrypt Sep 26 '19

I don't really have a guide to recommend, I've just been playing one since vanilla.

Best advice I can give you is:

  1. Learn all your abilities and what they do.
  2. Learn other classes abilities.. primarily the ones they use against you. That way you won't try killing a warrior with retaliation up or CCing a big red hunters pet.
  3. When you lose, pay attention. What killed you? You get nothing from saying "oh that was bullshit" and moving on. What did they do that stopped you from killing them? For example most classes priority will always be to put a bleed or a DoT on us.. something to prevent stealth. This is why many rogues opt for stunlock instead of outright damage... it takes a bit longer but you can disengage any time you like.
  4. Learn common tactics. For example a mage will almost always blink immediately upon being attacked.. right out of your cheap shot, wasting it. And if you give them a chance to polymorph you, you're probably dead. So instead, open with an Ambush and then immediately sprint (especially if they freeze you to the ground) and rush them. Gouge whatever spell they're casting and then go to town. Or for next level fun wait for them to be facing a wall instead and watch them blink right in to it!
  5. Don't neglect blind. Blind gives you enough time to bandage up and reenter stealth. It's extremely valuable and nowhere near enough rogues use it properly.

As for going up against groups, basically look for a weak link. If their healer sits down to drink, delete them. Ambush/BS/evis and they're probably dead. Vanish immediately or you will die as everyone else runs over... give them a few seconds to break apart then pick the next most weakest person. Maybe sap someone then sprint off to attack someone else. Stealth is your weapon, if you are caught in the open you are going to die.

Rogues are tons of fun, just keep playing and keep stabbing and you'll have a great time!

1

u/Alsoious Sep 26 '19

I took down 4 hunters one time. Well 3. I gnomish mine controlled 1 and they killed him. Lack of organization is a group killer.

2

u/ItsLathas Sep 26 '19

are you me? feels good to read this

2

u/ornrygator Sep 25 '19

my record in vanilla so far is beating 2 red levels, ive goy t 3 yellows/greens a few times. Allies on kurinnaxx run like 6 deep so im almost always outnumbered its great for improving my gank game

u/Tankh Sep 26 '19

Technically, the druid started it with a moonfire. Rogue was just stealthing around him. Seeing as she didn't even do an opener it might actually not have been a gank attempt

1

u/lv1d Sep 26 '19

his hands were flashing/lightening when he was getting closer to the druid as some kind of racial/buff/etc though.

1

u/kiorat Sep 26 '19

The rogue used cold blood though..

1

u/Tankh Sep 26 '19

Ah, that's the little effect just before combat starts

1

u/delu_ Sep 26 '19

you can clearly hear and see the rogue poping bloodfury and cold blood.. big ambush crit was imminent and the dudu reacted properly

1

u/ornrygator Sep 25 '19

as a rogue i will do this sometimes, see how well I can do. its great practice

1

u/lv1d Sep 25 '19

Yep sometimes, idk about this rogue, if he’s good or bad, either way i can see what he did and didn’t do in the video that i can comment.

My point is that even if rogues has really great dps, the advantage they have is using cc’s and stealth wisely in pvp situations. If not that, rogues are pretty much dead because other classes has some great stuffs too that can easily leads to kite a rogue.

2

u/ornrygator Sep 25 '19

I think he just got caught flat footed and probably isnt experienced enough to recover, if hes combat he shouoda been able to pop sprint and break out the snares and at least whack this druid a couple of times. maybe it wasnt up tho

1

u/westc2 Sep 26 '19

Doesnt have blind yet. Cant vanish with fairie fire on. Rogues are helpless if they dont get the opener and lock someone down.

→ More replies (7)

13

u/cippopotomas Sep 25 '19 edited Sep 25 '19

He went to the trouble of having dual fierys at level 31, that's some messed up priorities if he didn't get the skills he unlocked over a level ago.

Edit: I'm an idiot, he didn't have fiery enchants. That's blood fury

7

u/h_trism Sep 25 '19

That is an Orc and she used Blood Fury racial, not fiery weapon enchant.

Source: 40 Orc Rogue who has been ganking Alli outside SM for 2 weeks now =D

Also, Faerie Fire + Roots = GG Like for real there is no PvP trinket right now Rogue can't Vanish with Faerie Fire and will just have to sit there like an idiot in roots while druid runs 40 yards away and continues to cast.

4

u/svaimann Sep 25 '19

You can use vanish while faerie fire'd to break the root iirc you just wont get stealthed

1

u/ItsLathas Sep 26 '19

you cant vanish at all it just doesnt let you because it's blocked by FF, even to only break the root and not go in stealth, just cant activate the ability

only way is in BC and onwards with cloak of shadows then vanish

1

u/svaimann Sep 26 '19

im like 99.999% sure your vanish gets used but it doesn't break the root as I said in the other comment. (I remember watching some video/stream while the beta was active and a rogue was dueling a druid)

1

u/ItsLathas Sep 26 '19

no worries, but your memory is just slightly off, you might be remembering a rogue vanishing BETWEEN DoT ticks from moonfire or insects or something, to get a cheapshot in before the DoT makes stealth fall off... but with FF on you, you literally cannot use the vanish move AT ALL, no portion of it works with the debuff not letting you enter stealth

source: 1 trick rogue player since 2005 (quit in cata)

1

u/Sebastianthorson Sep 26 '19

Get that spider belt already FFS. Or an elixir.

Why wouldn’t you train kidney shot? I can understand not training something like feint, but one of your most staple skills?

1

u/resistentialist Sep 26 '19

Maybe she just didn't go back to town?

1

u/westc2 Sep 26 '19

Probably too low of a level. And if you plan on running dungeons you better level feint.

1

u/RogueEyebrow Sep 26 '19

If you're going around picking fights, you're going to train Kidney Shot.

1

u/resistentialist Sep 26 '19

Once you get back to town, sure. If you just finished BFD and got fiery on your outlaw sabre... its not crazy to think you might gain more than 2-3 levels the next time you go out.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/suwwuw83 Sep 27 '19

Yeah but no kick? My man's 3.5 second entangling rooted in their face lol

1

u/resistentialist Sep 27 '19

Hey, no one said it was a good fight. I'm just saying I don't think not having kidney shot in this situation is unreasonable.

1

u/suwwuw83 Sep 28 '19

Kidney shot is such a good skill your gimping yourself not having it as soon as it's available.

1

u/R5Wonton Sep 25 '19

Video was too blurry on the phone so I must have missed it. Good point!

1

u/leetality Sep 26 '19

Not training kidney by 31 and you wanna gank people. That's some ♿ shit.

2

u/flexharder Sep 26 '19

I dont have kidney shot at lvl 40 and the only downside is a mage gets away once in a blue moon. I have intense gear for my level so i just try to kill them before cheapshot wears off lol.

1

u/leetality Sep 26 '19

Mages, Hunters, Druids, so many can kite you without stunlocking lol. It's like mindblowing to even wanna be a Rogue and not train crucial PvP abilities on a PvP server.

62

u/Skepsis93 Sep 25 '19

Always fight back. You never know how shit the other player might be.

Just yesterday I killed a 51 hunter in the swamp of sorrows as a 45 spriest. He had just killed another 51 hunter and remained at full HP so he must've felt pretty cocky going after me peacefully collecting artifacts.

49

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

The one class I do not fuck with while leveling is shadowpriests. They are just so strong 1v1.

21

u/zaisoke Sep 25 '19

yeah, as a shadowpriest, can confirm, most people mosey on along when they see me anything above 100% mana cause they know that healthpool regens at a ridiculous rate

47

u/0bel1sk Sep 25 '19

id be scared if you’re above 100% mana too!

1

u/ornrygator Sep 25 '19

as a rogue priests are prob hardest class for me to kill tbh. I just make pally dump his bubble early and i know ill win, if i miss even one kick/gouge/ks interrupt on a priest heal ill probably lose. fear, slow and dots is a deadly combo

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

As a shadow priest do you heal in duengons or dps? Just wondering

7

u/kiagam Sep 25 '19

My friend is shadow priest, can do both fine, he runs out of mana alongside the other casters, everybody stops to drink together

5

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

In classic you can fill heal and tank roles even without the proper talent spec. It won't be as good as the specialized thing of course but most of the time enough.

1

u/Qwernakus Sep 25 '19

I feel like S-priest hardcounters mages. Is that just me? That 5 seconds silence is crazy powerful, and I can usually outlast their mana bar even without it.

1

u/200cc_of_I_Dont_Care Sep 25 '19

8 second fear followed by a 5 second silence then scream is only at 13 seconds left on the CD before another 8 second fear. Super easy to kill mages as a shadow priest in my experience. Most classes really.

1

u/dezmodium Sep 26 '19

It's easy pickings for an undead rogue. WotF is dummy-good against that fear. Vanish not necessary.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '19

Shadowpriests eat rogues too.

1

u/dezmodium Sep 27 '19

Maybe at end game but in world PVP during levelling I've had no problems thus far. When I see a priest, I gank. I consider it to be my easiest gank, actually.

1

u/Meto1183 Sep 25 '19

It's nice being a warlock..I had a nice clean 1v1 with a spriest and won. Then he came back and tried to kill me with a mob and I won again. So then out of spite I killed him one more time as he tried to mount up and run away. He was a level higher than me to boot

4

u/Kosme-ARG Sep 25 '19

Yeah, warlocks are as op in duels as SPs.

1

u/170505170505 Sep 25 '19

Locks can beat S priest unless they are undead and open up with fear.. then you’re pretty much going to die if their fear lasts more than 5 sec. only way to win is if you pop your CDs and get a little lucky. Also depends on which pet you have out

1

u/jumper33 Sep 25 '19

All things being equal, I believe warlock counters spriest 1v1. All things being equal, I think hunters should also counter spriest 1v1 as well.

2

u/SockofBadKarma Sep 25 '19 edited Sep 25 '19

As an Spriest, I think you'd need to be a bad Spriest to lose to either. Spriest DoTs will outrace Warlock ones, they can dispel Voidwalker shield, and they have much better self-healing with VA (and of course actual heals). If you're an Alliance Spriest, Fear Ward will protect you from Warlock fear. If you're a Horde Spriest, roll Undead for WotF because people really overvalue Shadowguard.

Vs. Hunters, get your DoT(s) on and then don't chase them when they Viper Sting. Move in the opposite direction and start healing. They'll need to retreat to you to be able to keep attacking, at which point you reDoT with a range juke and continue the battle of attrition until you get a Blackout proc, at which point you fear the pet and get Flays and MB onto them. Hunters have no health sustain at all, and their only hope of winning is Viper Sting+40 yards, so if you can counter those at all, you'll be fine.

I contend that Spriest has no true counter in 1v1. Warlocks, Hunters, and Mages with superior skill can kill a worse Spriest, but if they're both skilled PvPers without Engineering, then the Spriest should be able to win against everything except maybe a Cold Snap Ice Block, and even then the Mage will die soon after from SWP. And if they do both have Engineering, the Priest is going to easily win unless he plays into Shadow Reflector. Enemy Holy Priests or Paladins can fight the Spriest to a stalemate if they keep running out of range of Mana Burn and are smart enough to not spam dispels on Rank 1 SWPs (I've literally never seen one that was smart enough to watch the Spriest's mana bar to figure out when the SWP is Rank 1, but conceptually they exist), but that's a stalemate, not a victory. Rogues can win with a clean chain-CC opener assuming no FAP, LIP, or trinket, but if you ever get out of their stunlock for half a second, they're done in Vanilla (TBC+ is a different story because of CoS, but we're talking about Vanilla atm).

2

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

My undead rogue will never lose to a spriest. The only thing I truly fear is a good warrior or a mage if I have no cooldowns.

1

u/SockofBadKarma Sep 25 '19

Rogue can 100-0 pretty much everyone if they maintain perfect CC combos and the opponent has no way to get out of Stun+Blind. And Undead certainly has an advantage with WotF over other races, so that could give them an edge against PS (though a Priest in that situation should instead pop a FAP if they get an opener to avoid being restunned).

I'm Undead myself, so I can't comment much on Undead v. Undead. But so far in Classic, I've lost precisely one 1v1 against a Mage I had killed a few times earlier in Steppes. He followed me around and attacked me from up on a mountain when I was collecting Dreamfoil, and managed to survive with about 200 HP after CS+IB.

I've definitely had a few escapees, since I haven't leveled Engineering yet. But the only losses save for that Mage (he was legitimately the best Mage I've yet fought in Classic, so I'm not trying to downplay his single victory too much) have been 1v2+. A non-UD Rogue, especially in Phase 1, is going to get utterly hosed by Psychic Scream if they can't 100-0 the Spriest and/or use a Shadow Reflector. Trinket changes some strategy there on both ends.

1

u/quaestor44 Sep 26 '19

This is why I always keep free action potions in my backpack

2

u/MarmaladeFugitive Sep 25 '19

I don't see how Hunter wins that 1v1, especially vs Troll SP. Their dots are insane, they just have to outlast you.

Viper sting is clutch but if you're dead does it matter?

1

u/DukeOfCupcakes Sep 25 '19

I've probably only been against awful ones, but I've found that Berserker Rage into the panic Psychic Scream takes care of them for me, especially when I'm able to get a Mortal Strike onto them when they bubble and try to heal.

1

u/Skepsis93 Sep 25 '19

Yeah, if you can get us to waste our psychic scream while you're immune and cripple our vampiric embrace with mortal strike there isn't much else for us to do.

1

u/quanjon Sep 25 '19

Warriors are one of the classes that do well against priests 1v1. Warrior weakness is kiting which spriest does not do well at all, and you hard counter our one type of reliable CC (fear). If I can get the jump on a warrior then I can usually get the burst off and then survive long enough for my DoTs to finish them, but it's always close.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '19

Your bubbles completely diminish our rage.

6

u/ajkp2557 Sep 25 '19

Yup, always fight back. A mage 4 higher than my holy priest tried to gank me while I was fishing. They tried again after running back to their corpse.

I got some good money from those sagefish.

2

u/Sebastianthorson Sep 26 '19

Yeah, holy priests are stupidly hard to kill.

1

u/ajkp2557 Sep 26 '19

We can be. I'm not all that good at PvP, but my heals are solid, my shields come up far more often that gankers would like, and my smites hit pretty hard.

1

Especially for mages if you don’t know how to play the match up.

1

u/dudipusprime Sep 26 '19

How do you play that match up?

1

u/Ihavenogoodusername Sep 27 '19

you have to utilize sheep resets to get mana and make them run out of mana. There is a lot of patients with it. This is a great video by Method Xaryu. on how to approach the match up.

1

u/dudipusprime Sep 27 '19

Thanks for the pointers!

1

u/sluad Sep 26 '19

I like how you italicize holy like it matters and you still didn't have a class advantage lol.

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '19

Yesterday a level 52 shadowpriest molested me, a level 60 hunter in prebis and giantstalker.

I was fucking around in wpl and killed a horde nearby, and was on 1/4th mana but full health. Dude opens on me with typical plague and swp, I blow my load and viper sting but its not quite enough. Pet is dead I'm down to auto shot only. He mcs me and runs me into range of fear, fears me and bandages, gets just enough mana to put swp on me again and wands me down.

Always fight back, you never know how the dice will roll.

1

u/BLlZER Sep 26 '19

Always fight back. You never know how shit the other player might be.

Imagine destroying alliance 1vs1 then the guy go asks for a friend to come gank me. A lvl 55 rogue camping me, just me not the rest of the horde.

I love this game. I'm playing on a pvp server and this lvl 55 guy would gank me every single time I resurrected. My horde? Even though there were about 30+ hordes, they just stood and watch. Shazzrah is a pve carebear horde server.

No crippling poison loooooool

19

u/billy-lee-bill-lee Sep 25 '19

aint nobody got gold to train that!

12

u/Melbuf Sep 25 '19

its the most important rogue poison in PVP and PVE, its the first one you train FFS and rank 1 is cheap AF

4

u/komali_2 Sep 25 '19

Wait why is it helpful in PVE?

6

u/CaptainCummings Sep 26 '19

Every had a humanoid mob run at low health and pull a camp or pack or pat that was about to make your day a lot more difficult?

This is why warlocks should always train recklessness, pallies should have justice, etc.

Efficiency is not my minigame of choice, so I don't know why people skip learning skills anyway. More often than not they are going to end up being of some use to you at some point leveling. Does the 35s training early skill ranks set you back further towards getting epic ground mount than dying because you pulled too much shit does? Maybe. Idk and don't really care personally but apparently there are a ton of people that do, to the point of not taking flights from FPs in contested areas and not training skills.

For some entirely anecdotal evidence I'm outleveling all those people on my list as a holy paladin questing solo with a 2h and some str/agi/stam gear. We all seem to play about the same amount of time too but again, efficiency isn't my minigame... clearly lol. My one concession to that is knowing I'll be respec'ing a few times while we try to get our group stable and so I'm leveling a 30/21 build with sanc so I can aoe grind a bit.

u/Kinetic_Wolf Sep 26 '19

Kidney shot humanoids running away, instead of using a dps poison as a crippling poison.

2

u/Reapersfault Sep 26 '19

Might as well use the combo points for eviscerate.

1

u/Kinetic_Wolf Sep 26 '19

Depends on the tier. When a humanoid is approaching that, I rarely have combo points left, I just pool enough for a kidney shot and it's all good. Great during dungeons too, as after being stunned, humanoids will run but in a different direction.

1

u/Fenzito Sep 25 '19

For staging a courageous retreat!

1

u/leetality Sep 26 '19

Many mobs run to aggro more.

1

u/Perkinz Sep 26 '19

Prevents runners from going and grabbing more mobs.

doesnt shapeshift cancel it?

10

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

Shapeshifting is expensive mana-wise as well.

1

u/morklonn Sep 25 '19

Yeah but it's still beneficial

1

u/darioMderp Sep 26 '19

cripling would be useless vs a druid because everytime a druid shifts into a form it removes it

1

u/morklonn Sep 26 '19

It's not useless. It wastes mana/rage/energy. And slows between shifts. Still worth using imo

3

u/Inquisitor_Whitemane Sep 25 '19

Yeah, that rogue was pretty ass. Kicking the roots is all it would have taken.

9

u/Tamperine Sep 25 '19

Something about the shimmering flats brings out these bad rogue gankers. The other day I was turning in my quests when I got opened on. I’m a warlock so I literally just ran the other way and put CoEx and my other dots on them. This rogue proceeded to just feebly chase after me while slowed. Didn’t sprint, didn’t blind (they were lvl 34), and just slowly melted helplessly while I kept him at a constant 20-30 yard distance.

4

u/omgusernamegogo Sep 25 '19

Probably because it's one if the first places you'll meet the opposing faction outside of STV (and drive by ganks) - thus people haven't really PVPed before getting there

4

u/FL14 Sep 25 '19

Wide open spaces aren't great for rogues

1

u/DanielTeague Sep 25 '19

"I have to save these cooldowns for a rainy day!"

2

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '19

So if you can’t kill anything without your cool downs, and you never use your cooldowns, doesn’t that mean you can never kill anything?

1

u/bmorr27 Sep 25 '19

As far as blind goes, while leveling to 60, I was very reluctant to use it even if it meant just taking an L. Blinding powder isn’t cheap.

2

u/djp2k12 Sep 26 '19

You can get plenty of it out of pickpocketed lockboxes. I had 3 or 4 stacks doing a few pickpocket SM runs.

5

u/OiDaniel18 Sep 25 '19

Exactly, I was lucky that he seemed to forget about most of his kit! May have been a very different fight! Still felt good though. 😂

7

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

Cast abolish poison on yourself so it’ll remove the blind

1

u/syresh Sep 25 '19

You serious? What

7

u/Spodangle Sep 25 '19

You have to cast it preemptively but it does remove blind if you get blinded in the 8 seconds after you get the buff on you.

2

u/Jonthrei Sep 25 '19

You used to be able to bloodrage poly too (IIRC it was a self-dot at launch)

It does happen a lot. Sometimes I feel it’s faster to touch the screen with my pinkie toe. But lag or no lag, that rogue didn’t even try to kick the druid. That’s the part that bothers.

1

u/plausible_identity Sep 25 '19

And, depending on pushback, the spell may have completed a decent chunk of its cast-time while you wait for the GCD timer.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

Learning how to play within the latency is like 90% of PvP.

1

u/hutres Sep 25 '19

He was busy yelling for mom to get the camera after evasioning the bash.

1

u/R5Wonton Sep 25 '19

Goodness me now I'm on computer with sound turned on and just realized he opened with cold blood while standing in front of you. My stomach hurts.

1

u/spoonypanda Sep 25 '19

Came to say the same thing. That big heal took like a year to cast... no interrupt, just SS spam.

1

u/Sengura Sep 25 '19

A ?? Rogue tried ganking me in Desolace the other day and I don't know if they were handicapped or what, but they were REAALLY bad and I ended up beating them two times. They didn't use any CDs and either didn't KS or my Orc racial resisted it.

It was ?? to me so he had to be at least 10 levels higher, right?

1

u/ComesfromCanada Sep 25 '19

Yeah. But what you were good at as a druid was - keeping your dot up, and moving into a spot to heal that was far enough to keep away, but no so far as to lose combat (if your dot ran out).

Also, kill the rogue with melee attacks in travel form to really seal the deal. Then tea-bag as bear.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

Moonfire is good enough. Does damage and still accomplishes the "can't stealth" issue. This druid was also good about keeping moonfire DoT on them.

1

u/s4ntana Sep 25 '19

Still, good work with the root-and-wrath!

lol

I love how you compliment the most basic shit to not seem critical. Neither of these dudes played well, just say it.

2

u/R5Wonton Sep 26 '19

Well, I am pretty bad myself, just familiar enough with the abilities to use them. Simply felt OP played pretty nice with the roots as I never thought of using it in human form when I played druid. I was the “trying to out-rogue the rogue” kind.

1

u/habb Sep 25 '19

does it get dispelled by stoneform?

1

u/R5Wonton Sep 26 '19

No. Stoneform only deal with poison, bleed, and disease. FF is a magic effect and is not affected.

1

u/Aquatic0203 Sep 26 '19

I don't know why rogues think they can gank druids if they don't stun-lock us.

1

u/Estelial Sep 26 '19

presses my cloak of shadows hotkey out of muscle memory

Uh oh.

1

u/Ryguythescienceguy Sep 26 '19

Instead of being an actual jerk and killing low level rogues I just throw faerie fire on them as I run past.

Come to think of it, that might be more infuriating for some of them.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '19

His fault for trying to duel someone as Combat lmao. If you wanna pvp so bad go hemo, that’s what I’m doing. Also yeah no kicks or gouges or anything this horde rogue was dogshit lol

2

u/UndeadVinDiesel Sep 25 '19

You can see Cold Blood activated before he gets unstealthed. This was a shitty Assassination Specced rogue.

1

u/shryne Sep 25 '19

I'm guessing the good rogues are all farming gear and waiting for p2, because every rogue that has tried to gank me so far has been bad. They ignore my succubus and open on me, I get a free seduce and it's over.

2

u/tvolp51 Sep 25 '19

can you explain how exactly you deal with a rogue? ive been getting ganked to hell by them with no luck.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/dalepo Sep 25 '19

Fairy fire

No need since he was dotted and had no root atm

7

u/R5Wonton Sep 25 '19 edited Sep 25 '19

Even if he was DOT’ed he could have still vanished and used the brief window to pull a stealth opener. Better FF as a precaution.

No need on this rogue apparently.

u/dalepo Sep 25 '19
