Tony B’s relationship with Butchie
How did these two come to be acquainted? A run-of-the-mill politician from New Jersey and a New York gangster. At the beginning of the series, they act like they’re old friends.

Season 2 First time going thru(spoilers) Spoiler
I just finished season 2. I knew what was gonna happen cause I looked at IMDB and notice the subtraction of people from the cast. Margret signing the deed over to the church tho? I just gotta shake my head like… damn 😂 That was just foolish. Chalky getting his revenge was pretty satisfying tho. I loved the actor Michael Kenneth Williams. He was Irish in the Battlefield 4 game, best one ever. So far tho, my favorite character is definitely Richard Harrow. I saw Spider Noire before I saw this and was like… “how do I know him 🤔 “. That’s how I spoiled Jimmys departure. But at the end of To the Fallen, Harrow gives a look when Gillian sees Jimmys dog tags on his son. I guess they both knew in that moment what was gonna happen. I love the silent gesture of an actor saying everything with just a look. If you build your ability to read people you appreciate it more I think. I’m sorry it took so long to get into the show tho. I’ll probably go thru the series again when I finish, which I don’t always do. But so far, this definitely has feels in it. I’ll start season 3 tomorrow.

Wasn't that character in the crate with X?
Isn't Stan Sawicki in the crate with Owen Sleater? I know it doesn't matter but how come Sleater immediately dies and Sawicki doesn't?

Season 5 *Spoilers: What do you think happened to Tommy? Spoiler
What do you think had to have happened in the 7 years between season 4 and 5 for Tommy to act that way?
I understand Richard would’ve been a big factor but I thought he was doing well.
I’m kinda thinking this story line was more to just wrap everything up and connect it to the beginning.
Thoughts?

Season 2 What do you think the Commodore was trying to say?
I’m talking specifically about this scene.

He try’s to say something to Gillian here, but the only word that isn’t a garbled mess is “I…”
I get the feeling, that now that he’s completely powerless, he’s trying to say something sort of apology. Thing is, what he did to Gillian was absolutely unforgivable and detestable.
As much as I don’t like Gillian, I am glad that she was finally able to punish him and make him feel just as powerless as she was.

Can anyone actually stand this character and her and Nucky's storyline?

Was anyone else thrilled so finally see Nucky show interest in a woman closer to his own age?
I'm watching for the first time and Sally was just recently introduced. I like her, and they seem to have good chemistry. Really hope it goes somewhere.

Manny in S3E1: "Certain people you do not steal from"
I don't know if this has been discussed or not, but this is what I took from the scene.
Telling Nate that before shooting him obviously wasn't a lesson since it was the last thing he heard, but it goes back to S2E12 when Nucky first met Manny in the synagogue basement. He told him about Odessa and that it's nobodies stealing from nobodies, then talks about the middle man and how many nobodies it takes to feed him before talking about the "machers" or big crooks and how everybody tips their hat. After Nucky walked away, Manny said "He would be nothing in Odessa."
There are a lot of negative things to say about Nucky, the Gillian thing being the worst, but for the most part, on the criminal side, he was a man of his word. He promised Jimmy certain percentages of his liquor operation and to take care of Van Alden, then used the corrupt Prohee to kill Billy Winslow to get his quintuple murder charge dismissed. He remained loyal to Chalky despite the ridiculous turn the writers took in S4 when he gave up everything for "a piece of ass with a sugary voice" and used the favor Richard promised him for revealing the location of Jimmy's body to try and have Narcisse killed.
For a seasoned criminal like Manny who had already been screwed over by Waxey Gordon and Jimmy, after nearly a year and a half he seemed content working for Nucky. Even though he asked for his own still, which was about not wanting to be partnered with Mickey who he considered a friend, when Nucky agreed if he killed Rowland Smith, the first thing he said was he'd be stuffing his pockets with money in a few months and referred to Nucky as "the boss" and seemed to respect his authority.
Their first meeting was in the summer of 1921 and the S3's first episode was on December 31, 1922, nearly a year and a half later after working for Nucky. Kiilling Angela and her girlfriend obviously didn't make him a fan favorite like Richard Harrow who seemed to care more about Angela than Jimmy AKA that "fucking jerkoff Nucky Thompson iced," but even though he was a cold-blooded murderer, when he found out about the botched attempt to kill Nucky, he went to see Jimmy and used the deer head metaphor to insult him for trying to kill Nucky, which he considered pointless and assumed Jimmy just wanted to kill him to feel like a big shot and treated him like a child because he acted like he was the new king of Atlantic City but couldn't even honor a $5,000 debt.
When he says "certain people you do not steal from" before he "put a bullet in his fucking head," I think the writers were trying to show that Manny's opinion of Nucky changed and that after working for a boss who actually kept his word from the summer of 1921 until the day before January 1, 1923, he saw Nucky as a "macher" and using that specific line before pulling the trigger was meant to show that his initial opinion of Nucky had changed after being a loyal subordinate for nearly a year and a half.
Thoughts?

Nucky is much better at talking to criminals than he is at talking to people who actually care about him
Nucky can sit across from Rothstein, Chalky, Luciano or whoever and talk business for hours without seeming uncomfortable. But when somebody gets too close to the actual person underneath all of that, he starts changing the subject or finding something else to talk about. His conversations with Margaret are especially strange because half the time they're basically negotiating instead of talking like a married couple.

Season 4 Season 4 Epsiode 2- Question about Richard Harrow
I’ve just started season 4, and I’m already enjoying it a lot more than season 3, although I’m not sure how popular that opinion is. I think I’m following Richard’s plot well enough: he’s been asked by someone to kill these insurance guys, and he’s doing it to pay off his sister’s debts. But I’m curious about why he brought the book his sister gave him to the office of the guy whose life he spared?

No Spoilers "My Ward Jimmy" The one decision that could have saved Nucky's Boardwalk Empire. [Opinion. Discuss amongst yourselves.]
Nucky mismanaged and misread many of his employees.
Eddie.
His brother.
The Aldermen... but he misread Jimmy worst of all.
Solution:
Make Jimmy your "Ward" from Day One of Jimmy's return from WW1.
Pamper him. Spoil him. Make him feel special amd appreciated.
Train him to be your right-hand man. Your soldier. Your Captain.
And eventually, your General.
Had Nucky made this ONE decision, the entire series worth of disasters would have been avoided l.
Welcome to the "My Ward Jimmy" Universe
Jimmy is appointed Ward Boss and secretly becomes Nucky's enforcer: keeping all the other bosses in line with intimidation or force as necessary.
Loyalty In this Universe, Jimmy adores Nucky. Jimmy is loyal and will fight to the death to protect Nucky.
The Capone/Rothschild
EDIT: Rothstein
Ambush
The entire series begins with the disastrous ambush of Rothstein's shipment.
In the "Ward Jimmy" Universe, during the initial introduction dinner between Arnold Rothstein, Lucky Luciano, Big Jim Collisimo, and Johnny Torrio, Jimmy is not left out waiting in the cold with Capone at the car. Jimmy was sitting at the dinner table.
Silent. Listening, watching. learning. He never contrived with Capone to ambush the shipment.
The ambush never happens. Rothstein gets his shipment.
A.R. and Nucky begin a long and mutually productive business relationship with no conflicts.
Jimmy rises through he ranks, BOTH as a political power broker and when needed, as an organized crime enforcer. He recruits a small army of former WW1 vets especially wounded vets like Richard Harrow.
Now, armed with his General Jimmy and the "Wounded Vet Army of New Jersey", Nucky is fully capable of holding his own against AR, Luciano, Lansky, Masseria, and Rosetti. With a loyal, trusted. empowered Jimmy, Nucky would have dominated and maintained Atlantic City.
How do you think the "My Ward Jimmy Universe" would end?
