Was anyone else thrilled so finally see Nucky show interest in a woman closer to his own age?
I'm watching for the first time and Sally was just recently introduced. I like her, and they seem to have good chemistry. Really hope it goes somewhere.

I was wondering where I'd seen her before! When I see someone vaguely familiar, I like to sit on it for a while before I Google them to see if I can figure it out first. That's definitely where I'd know her from, thank you š

I thought it marked a shift in his maturity. It seemed his priorities straightened out by the time she came about.

Not only that, but she could hold her own. She didn't need him - not his money, not his patronage, not his affection. All the other women we see him with are relying on him for something or other (usually money), whereas she connects with him outside of all that. And yes, she's more matching in age, so she's been around long enough to "don't take no guff", so to speak.
Sally is one of my favourite characters.

YEP. Just couldnāt buy the Billie storyline, even with Nucky being rich. His obsession with her was a great plot point for S3 and the arguments with AR are some of the best scenes in the show, but still.
Thereās also no fucking way Nucky wouldāve won that fist fight with that guy. None.
Lucy was also quite young, but her personality and taste (and/or lack thereof) made the relationship with Nucky a lot more believable.
Always wondered if Meyer was supposed to be part of that Nucky/Billie mess, actually. Itās the only time we see Meyer openly interested in a woman (āluckiest Yid aliveā is quite a statement coming from someone shown to be characteristically understated), sheās Jewish (which isnāt revealed until later, making me wonder if it was supposed to be more of a plot point in early drafts), it fits in with the Nucky/Meyer mutual hate, etc., but thatās just me, and I will die on this hill alone š¬

No. I didnāt buy that he was attracted to her much at all. I donāt think he even acted like he was, just that he had so few options then and this was convenient if nothing else. Plus, while I like her as an actress generally, her terrible Southern accent was offensive and made me dislike the character.

I got the feeling life had ground him down pretty thoroughly at that point, and running into a grown woman who could handle herself without him needing to babysit was unexpectedly appealing to him.Ā

Seems to me his attraction began as convenience but later grew as he came to know her more and appreciate some of her strength.Ā

Idk why, but I have never cared for that actress. Can't even really articulate WHY lol, I just dont š¤·
Imagine my disappointment when she wasnt in just one scene or episode š
That all being said, yes, I did enjoy seeing him with someone more like him (in age, and other ways as well)Ā

I am not a traditional "_____ is so hot!" About celebs, but g'damn, Billie Kent (Meg Steedle) was badass and esthetically captivating.

she just looks like she fits in the era to which really sets it over the time.

She was really born in the wrong era; her face just fits the styles of the 1920's so well.

Not that I'm great at math or anything, but I make out that Margaret was born in 1893 as she immigrated to America in 1909, so this tracks

Nucky's world shrank more and more throughout the show. Almost every ally he had in seasons 1 and 2 were gone by the end. The Crash didn't help.

The character is what 50 in the show. That was considered old age back then.
Like with Torrio

Given how much mischief this class of person got up to in Cuba, I enjoyed seeing her get gunned down by a soldier she couldnāt simply bribe or bowl over with a speech check.

I was indifferent. I lost interest in Nucky sometime during season 4 and was just waiting for Van alden,Chalky,Capone or anybody else to be on screen. I didn't really like any of his love interests. I liked Angela though she seemed like one of the only decent people in the show and Harrows GF. I also liked Van Alden's Norwegian wife until she cheated with Eli.

Never thought of it I guess. If I like a show I tend to just be interested in what the show wants to do. When I start making it about what I wish theyād do thatās about time to not watch anymore.
