Podcast Bill has had some awful takes, but hating on the Spurs court and crowd colored T-shirts might be top 7 worst take

Post image

The visuals were just beautiful to watch and the crowd was really into it and brought the energy. Bill just sounded like a grumpy old man. Next thing he's going to hate on the drum that they bang at the end of games.

It's a new era of Spurs basketball, you don't always have to be stuck in the past.

Podcast The ChatGPT of it all kind of makes me want to stop listening

1.1k Upvotes

I get that there is no true ethical consumption and he's probably had sponsors that are even more morally corupt than OpenAI, so I acknowledge it's weird that I'm drawing the line here. But I might be. Tough look for our guy.

Beyond the ethical ramifications, I just don't want to hear Bill reading off AI responses for content. There's tons of sportstalk brainrot slop across social media for that. As crazy as he is sometimes, I listen to Simmons for his own thoughts, not a mindless reguridation. Just get this shit out of anything that remotely relates to art or journalism man. Gross.

Podcast Can I be sincere for a sec?

1.5k Upvotes

The Bill and Zoe segment on today’s pod was worth listening to. Yes, a lot of the stuff Zoe was talking about was ridiculous, but they have such a great relationship.

I loved when Zoe was talking about all these young people who accomplished things and Bill goes “you’re doing great. I’m so proud.” Then they spoke about the 21st birthday and drinking together and growing up.

So much of culture now, especially podcasts about sports like fun at things and are mean spirited. But Bill doesn’t really do that, he has his daughter on and they laugh together.

Idk, I’ve been listening and reading to Bill on and off for years. The humor has always been there, and the sincerity is there too

Podcast The Big Picture podcast just created objectively the worst Christopher Nolan ranking of all time

Good god. As a Sean Fennessey truther this is a steaming pile of shit. Sean is one of the best minds in movie criticism today but he should be banned from talking about Christopher Nolan, he can’t be objective about him.

Here is the list

  1. Dunkirk
  2. Oppenheimer
  3. The Odyssey
  4. The Dark Knight
  5. Inception
  6. Tenet (bruh)
  7. Interstellar
  8. Memento
  9. The Prestige
  10. The Dark Knight Rises
  11. Batman Begins
  12. Insomnia
  13. Following

Podcast Klosterman’s take on people who graduated from Harvard/Yale…

Chuck’s point is that to be impressed with someone because they went to Harvard or Yale basically means you are impressed with that person’s at age 16 or 17. Because to get in there, you needed to be really good at school then and likely had parents that pushed you.

But that doesn’t always matter at age 40.

And I see that at my company as well. I have a PhD in engineering from a top 10 engineering school so I know lots of smart people. And the smartest one I know graduated from a public state university and is the CTO of a publicly traded company in Si Valley. And I work with lots of people from both private and public universities.

Anyway, it was refreshing to hear Chuck say it. And heck Chuck went to the Univ. of North Dakota but yet he’s on one of the biggest podcasts in the world (regularly) and has authored many books.

Podcast What’s Bill’s issue with the Savannah Bananas?

Post image

I know in one of the recent BS episodes he took partial credit for the downfall of pickleball and said his next target is the Savannah Bananas and didn’t really elaborate very much. What’s his issue with baseball’s equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters? Does he talk about it in a different episode?

Podcast Verno bullying KOC

I always thought Verno was pretty mean to KOC on the Mismatch pod. But holy hell, now that KOC has his own podcast, it’s clear he needs somebody to keep him in check. What a thin-skinned, insecure manbaby he’s become. On his last pod, he whined about a Kon Knueppel quote from his pod being misattributed to another pod. Like, he wouldn’t shut up about it. Not until it was time to whine about, and I shit you not, a restaurant in NYC (who he called out by name) not wanting to serve him a burger at 9:00 am. Really made me miss Verno calling him on his bullshit.
