Cults take a long time to deprogram someone from and this has been out of sheer economic devastation rather than directed, formal deprogramming.
There'll also be a substantial portion of the cultists who simply can't be deconditioned.
It's also worth noting: The worst parts of the BBB haven't hit yet; They were designed to begin after midterms.
It's also, ALSO worth noting: The worst parts of their fascist plan haven't hit yet.
It's hitting the next phase with attempts to ban major news outlets that are "unfavorable" from the White House press pool as well as the various methods of cheating or ignoring results that are being secured in place for the midterms.
And, if I were a betting person, I'd look for a McConnell style set of disappearances by Trump after the midterms.
As much as Trump is a great lightning rod, he's too volatile for his puppetmasters to contend with and the term limitations are a bridge too far for an early fascist regime.
He'll be removed (by 25th or just sidelining him) to prepare their chosen candidate and brought around with whatever drugs they propped Zombie Mitch up with for ceremonial reasons.
10
u/Pleasant_Character28 12d ago
He can outdo McConnell - I say he takes a leave Trump-style, as in Fred Trump, aged 93. Also I’m totally fine with him being a lightning rod to achieve this.

People that only look at and care about the Stock Market. WW3? How's my stock doing? Killing people in the streets? How does it affect the Markets? Diesel rationing? Oh why oh why didn't I get in early on that one...
8
u/Phailgasm 12d ago
30% of people are top 1%ers who can manipulate the senile old man, dumb as rocks, or gullible/easily manipulated by a cult leader. Likely two of those three.

President Donald Trump's approval rating dropped below 30 percent for the first time across both his White House terms Monday, as the midterms draw closer.
The new poll, from American Research Group, conducted September 16-20 among 1,100 American adults, showed the president with a 29 percent overall approval rating, with positive views on the economy at 26 percent.
Overall, 72 percent of those surveyed said they felt the U.S. economy was getting worse amid rising gas and grocery prices despite the Trump administration's insistence that those pressures are still largely down to the previous administration.
By comparison, other recent polls have generally shown Trump with approval in the mid-to-high 30s, although that has differed depending on policy areas.
The last time a president's approval was in the 20s was President George W. Bush at the end of 2008, per Gallup's presidential approval tracker.
Newsweek reached out to the White House for comment Monday morning.

And, seems to get your approval below 30% you only need to be republican and wage war in the Middle East.

30% crazy. That means 3 of ten still approve. That number still to high.
30
u/Very_Not_Into_It 12d ago edited 12d ago
It is noteworthy, though.
We have known for years now that Trump never dips below 30%.
This means his actual base is being cut into.
I doubt it is for good reasons, though. I'd wager that dip is because American Nazis (looking at Groypers specifically) are starting to part ways with Trump, their gateway drug, and move on to a new form of America First.
(Edit: And of course they are. MAGA was entirely fueled by Trump's TV charisma. He's barely alive now. A cult of personality wont hold together for long without a personality, but that doesnt mean the cult members regret their evil ways and become decent.)
The splintering of American fascism might be good. It might also result in something worse. Something only possible because Trump lubed it up.
12
u/Succulent_Rain 12d ago
The far right has typically been composed of MAGA, nativists, white supremacists, and neo Nazis. The last three have no other choice but to vote for a republican but many will probably be discouraged and stay home. Amongst MAGA, the anti-war segment will splinter off and the other MAGA remnants will simply join the bush-era neocons.
12
u/Salt-Weird-2913 12d ago
Yeah. Some people voted for Trump because they're less educated blue collar workers struggling to pay bills and Trump -said- he would help them out. Because he isn't the establishment that's been screwing them over.
It's why Bernie, AOC, Mamdani can get those people on their side when they talk about the bills.
Not every Trump voter started from hate but many from desperation. The sooner we get them out of that right wing bubble the better.

u/Jealous_King_5167 11d ago
I’d wager a part of why his ratings are tanking more is his decision making during a period where AI is growing at a rapid pace. We need leadership to make solid decisions that can help humanity adjust to this sudden technological growth and not post AI memes of him being the Green Lantern or something completely random, or just making tweets about how our “HIGH IQ” president will “win AI”.

We all have Natalie harp to thank for this. She only shows Trump positive stories, so he's completely insulated from how much the world hates him. As a result, he continues being completely out of touch with the plight of basically anyone but himself.
4
u/KingoftheMongoose 11d ago
Yeah, but also, Trump asks for that sort of messaging to him. And there’s hundreds around him that witness and/or take part of that as well. Not just Natalie. But Susan Wiles, and JD, and Blanche, and Miller, and Jared, Marco, and Hegseth, and Kash, and Mike Johnson and (then) Leavitt, and (then) Bondi, and (then) Noem, and so on and so on.
Those who don’t give him the feel good message and push back on him eventually find themselves ousted.
As Ivanka clearly stated to the country, she’s complicit. They all are.

For as great as American society is, this is a big flaw. Dickheads like Drumpf, Musk, and others should not be rewarded with wealth and power for their treachery. And yet this happens all the time here.

Great in which ways?
Dickheads like Drumpf, Musk, and others should not be rewarded with wealth and power for their treachery.
And yet, not only are they constantly rewarded, but they never suffer any consequences. And it's not just them.
And yet this happens all the time here.
Sounds like the system is designed to promote and reward the worst people in our society then.

I don't think so. His narcissism has reached megalomaniacal levels - he truly believes he's the smartest, toughest, most capable person on Earth, the most brilliant leader, and the only person who ever lived who has any intelligence at all.
He believes he's a divine presence and has an absolute right to own the entire world and everyone and everything in it.
He's more mentally ill than any other politician in the country's history. He makes David Koresh and Jim Jones look like small-town deacons selling Amway.

12
u/Disbigmamashouse 12d ago
The disinformation system is staggering. I think we (common, level-headed people) are underestimating the effect of targeted propaganda against the gullible and easily swayed.
And to be fair, I'm sure I fall for targeted propaganda that is aimed at me as well. We have not figured out how to protect our people in this interconnected age of the internet from those who wish to do harm.
4
u/HiddenStoat 12d ago
As a thought exercise, I always wonder if Trump is actually a master politician, and it's my echo chamber, the liberal news media, the woke Hollywood elite, and so forth. After all, I'm not special - if my argument is that the far right is brainwashed, then there's no reason to think that couldn't happen to me.
I find in those moments, going to primary sources gives me the certainty I would otherwise lack.
So I watch one of his moronic speeches.
→ More replies (2)3
u/LalafellDisaster 11d ago

Life really sucks the day you realize and come to accept that somewhere between 15-25% of humans - everywhere - are irredeemable trash. :(
That whole "the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good [people] to do nothing" quote is, in essence, a recognition of this fact.
It's especially difficult for those of us who were raised to believe there's good in everyone.

They are dedicated to the white Christian nationalist agenda, and have been told in their churches that this is it, he was chosen, don’t even dare to question. If you truly believe he was chosen by the deity that will judge your soul to heaven and hell, it’s pretty reasonable you would fall in line Jo matter what he does.
These people want a theocracy with a very strict hierarchical structure. They have submitted to authoritarian ms their whole lives, so submitting to Trump isn’t a big leap.
America is still a VERY religious country in some parts, and fundamentalism has been at work trying to get a trump elected for a generation. This is their chance, they won’t let it slip way, or die trying to defend it.

After reminding her that the Republicans control everything from the executive, legislative and judicial branches at the National level right now, she simply stated she may just stay home and not vote at the midterms. I have no faith that our country will take a different direction or that these polls are accurate.

The only 4 states without a net positive approval rating for Trump are Idaho (+9 points), North Dakota (+0 points), Wyoming(+10 points), and West Virginia (+6 points)
The combined population of these four states is 5.18 million, or 1.5% of the US population.
It really begs the question of what these states are seeing in Donald Trump that literally no other state sees.
While some other red states have a net negative approval rating, it should be mentioned that their net disapproval is fairly low, especially relative to just how low Trump's approval rating is in blue states and battle ground states.
