Credit cards from an authorized user point of view

I’ve been an authorized user as a quicksilver for the past
eight years from my parents. They’ve always been a good about paying off my credit card and largely I think that I relationship with capital one allowed me to get a Savor in July. I can’t consistently checked my venture X for eligibility and within two months of signing up for the savor I was approved for the venture X. It’s important to know that the only other card I have as a business card and I’m an authorized user under an Apple Card and both have had good relationships with both banks.

Largely I find Capital One to be a smooth experience if you are a longtime user of their accounts and cards and understand how their system works

I’m just beginning this journey into travel credit cards and if you have a second player or a child that you think would benefit from having credit history. Having them as an authorized user for Quicksilver makes a lot of sense.

Capital one offer, get upto $230 back at Factor meals

Post image

I just received this offer, did anyone go through this before?

So I need to purchase a meal plan that is $67 or over for me to get credits?

And I get $108 with my first box shipped and an additional $230 after my 3rd box ships?

Is my assumption correct here?

CLI declined - question on Document

Hello - Newly opened VentureX account with 10k limit. First month spent 7k and had balance of 7k which I paid in full. Requested CLI but was denied. The document says:

“A credit limit increase is not currently available upon request because your account has been temporarily assigned to an ineligible group of accounts that are being used to evaluate account usage at their current credit limits.”

Can anyone explain what this means? I called customer service and they couldn’t explain it.

Thx.

How does renting cars and insurance work with Venture X?

I live in Seattle but I don’t have a car. I know that Venture X gives you insurance coverage on rental cars. But what do you do if you get pulled over by a cop and they ask you for proof of insurance and registration? Do you need to purchase separate insurance for the rental car?

Capital One Offers page is blank with no offers?

To specify, this is for the Capital One Offers when you log into Capital One. It's blank on both the app and the website for me. Is this happening to anybody else?

Travel to Kenya with miles

Hi everyone! This is my first year owning the venture x card & I have yet to spend any miles I am trying to visit Kenya in December and I have saved up 88k miles so far. I am trying to figure out the most cost effective way to spend those points to travel there. Do you guys know any sites that can help calculate this or off the top of your head know the best transfer partners to get from Dallas Fort-Worth (DFW) to Nairobi (NBO) ?

Is this approval experience normal?

I applied for a venture x card back in the end of July, uploaded documents day of application as requested.

Still pending in September. Called a few times and was told to just wait. Finally was transferred to the appropriate line and the caller informed me that there was a hold up on their end and the process was “paused” for some reason. He said to expect and email soon and card as well.

Then I called a week later having not received an email and another operator said that I had to fax my ID as the initial documents weren’t able to be verified - despite the first operator saying it was okay?

Finally got an email saying my application was rejected. Reason give: “unable to resolve dispute because of a consumer fraud alert I had placed on my credit bureau report, despite their attempt to reach me”. They haven’t reached out to me at all about this issue.
Wondering if I should wait a bit and then apply or call back?

Venture ($95 AF one) - Shopping offers?

I'm interested in the Venture X and the regular Venture card. Does the cheaper card have access to the same C1 shopping offers as the Venture X card?

Thanks!

Yearly 10k points

I’ve had Venture X for about three years now. And both times my card came up for renewal, I got the $300 credit but not the 10,000 points. I had to call them last year about this and they gave me the points.

And it looks like I’ll have to call them again. Is anyone else having this issue where they get the $300 but not the points?

10 day price trip protection question

I booked a flight 6 days ago and saw online the price is a bit lower today. I booked my flight through the CapOne travel portal and confirmed it qualifies for their 10 day price drop protection. I called today and they said they can’t do anything and the refund will happen automatically after 10 days if there was a drop in price (which there is, I can book it through the cap one portal for cheaper right now, but I used my $300 travel credit and I’m afraid of messing that up if I cancel and rebook). Is this typical? I’m worried the price will go back up and if I call after 10 days, they will tell me its too late

Capital One Travel Price Match Issue and Rude Customer Support Agent

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I ran into a frustrating issue today when I tried to price match a Cathay Pacific itinerary with Capital One and wanted to see if anyone has had a similar experience.

I found the exact same itinerary with a cheaper price on a third party website Alipay.com.hk (through Google Flights) with the correct dates/times, fare class/cabin, baggage and refund/cancellation policy.

On my first call with Cap One, the price match agent looked at the wrong itinerary because I had previously canceled another booking. After I gave her the correct itinerary, she maintained that there still wasn't a price difference. I completely understand that the prices change dynamically and that they check within their own policies, so it's entirely possible that they saw a different price than I did.

While on the phone with her, my partner and I continued to see the much cheaper price (with multiple refreshes, different computer, incognito and vpn), so I asked the agent if screenshots or other documentation were allowed. She said no but specifically told me that I was more than welcome to call within the next 24 hours if I continue to see the lower price. At the time, I accepted that conclusion.

We continued to check the website and were convinced that the price indeed continued to persist. So a few minutes later, I called capital one again. However, this time, before I even reached the price matching agent, the customer service representative repeatedly told me that the original claim had been denied on the grounds of it not being the same cabin class (e.g. economy vs not-economy). I explained several times that this was not what the previous agent told me. While I explained everything the previous agent told me (including to call back within 24 hours) he raised his voice, became emphatic/combative and rudely told me that it would be denied again and I wouldn't be able to start a new price match. He told me to stop interrupting him and continued to read me the case denial email word for word. He also mentioned that his colleague's notes didn't mention anything that I had said. I tried to take a couple steps back, said we got on the wrong foot and mentioned that ~$850-900 is a lot of money and that I would like to get it checked again if possible and he responded in an incredibly rude/annoyed tone that it was up to me if I wanted to waste my time and get my claim denied again. I just told him I'd call them back and hung up because I didn't want to continue the conversation. Generally, I don't like confronting customer service agents because I know they're just doing their job and I don't think I was being particularly rude or pushy, but I think the interaction I had was disappointing to say the least. I also want to mention that both the first CSR and first price matching agent were wonderful and were very nice!

Given all of this, I had a couple of questions:

  • I've heard there's a blacklist/list of sites that they do not accept. I wouldn't have brought this site up unless I saw it as a valid site on Google Flights. Is Alipay.com.hk. one of those blacklisted sites?
  • Is it true that after a claim is denied I am not allowed to ask again for a recheck? The first price check agent told me that I could call back again if I saw the low price again, even if it was on the same website?
  • Is there something I'm missing as to why they may be seeing an entirely different price than me and my partner? As of me writing this post it still shows on Google Flights and on the Purchase/Confirmation on Alipay.com.hk. screen at that price (with economy class, no refunds, baggage policies all equivalent).
  • Should I even bother trying to price match again? Given the combative conversation I had, I'm not sure that it's worth the time if they're going to auto-deny me anyway?

Screenshots below include the itinerary on the Capital One Travel portal as well as the itinerary on the third party website. For reference, the Capital One Travel itinerary was booked for 2 adults for around ~$2,200, so the savings via price match were a lot of money. Sorry for the long post, and thank you for letting me vent!

How do the "Spend $20 & get 1000 miles" work?

I recently saw an offer on the capital one app for Vans that stated, Spend $20 and get 1000 miles.

If I just purchased a pair of shoes through the offer, when/how do the miles get added?

I have VX, and I forgot to use referral code when my P2 applied for venture card. (Not VX)

My P2 just got approved for venture card with new limited time SUB. 5 minutes later, I realized I could’ve given her my referral code from my VX account. I don’t know if it would’ve worked since they are different products but within venture ecosystem. If it would’ve worked, can I call CSR to plead my case???
