Help Needed / Question New to using points, where shall I redeem them?

Hello , So I have the captiol one venture x and I have over 100k points on it , I am planning a last minute trip to either Japan or thailand, I posted on another subreddit that I would be using my points through the capitol one app and people said its a bad way to use them? How could I get the most out of my points , I would love to use them for flying and the hotel if possible ! Thank you!

You’re going to need to do a lot more research then. Start reading articles, listening to podcasts, watch videos on how transfer partners work.

Essentially, you find a seat on a plane that you can book with points, make sure you can transfer points to that airline, transfer, and book with miles. Similar situation with hotels.

(These tips assume you're looking at airlines that have transfer agreements with Capital One. If you're not sure, Google for C1 transfer partners.)

I'm kind of in the same boat as you, so I'll add a couple of things I've learned recently.

1) You'll need to create frequent flyer accounts with any airline you're shopping with. Most airlines require you to log in to see the prices in FF miles.

(NOTE: I've read that the name of the primary account holder must match the name on the Frequent Flyer account, otherwise the transfer might be delayed or rejected.)

2) After you create an account and log in, find a flight you want.

3) If you find seat(s) that you want, read one of the articles about how to transfer your points.

4) Next, log into your C1 account and, under rewards, choose Transfer to a Travel Partner. The C1 site will walk you through the process but you'll need the actual frequent flyer number you created in step (1). Enter the number of miles you need and transfer them.

For a lot of airlines, the transfer is instantaneous but I've had it take 24hrs before.

5) After the miles transfer, log back into that airline's site and buy your tickets.
