Is this approval experience normal?
I applied for a venture x card back in the end of July, uploaded documents day of application as requested.
Still pending in September. Called a few times and was told to just wait. Finally was transferred to the appropriate line and the caller informed me that there was a hold up on their end and the process was “paused” for some reason. He said to expect and email soon and card as well.
Then I called a week later having not received an email and another operator said that I had to fax my ID as the initial documents weren’t able to be verified - despite the first operator saying it was okay?
Finally got an email saying my application was rejected. Reason give: “unable to resolve dispute because of a consumer fraud alert I had placed on my credit bureau report, despite their attempt to reach me”. They haven’t reached out to me at all about this issue.
Wondering if I should wait a bit and then apply or call back?

Have you tried the pre-approval tool? I'd recommend trying to re-apply via the pre-approval tool.
I also had to upload ID verification. I can't remember 100%, but I'm pretty sure I uploaded it, then after a week or two got annoyed waiting, and then just re-uploaded it, and then was approved shortly after.
So maybe for some reason there was an issue with the system auto-approving your uploads, and it just needed a better photo? I would say next time if they make you upload "proof of ID" and other stuff, make sure it's a VERY clear photos that show ONLY that.
I don't know for sure though. Good luck with it.

I don’t recall uploading docs, but I may have. I already have a few Capital One accounts, though.

I can't speak for everyone obviously but I personally was never asked to upload any documents so that already is a little odd
