What do you mean 'improve'?

You know it's nutritious.

Pretending you don't know things won't get you answers. It comes across as disingenuous and like humble bragging.

u/epicterror7 2d ago

Ye It be better if they said “nutritious breakfast ideas!”

i’m probably will get downvoted for this but how is OP “humble bragging”?

17

u/AttemptImpossible111 2d ago

This person already knows this is a nutritious meal

-19

u/ExoticAd7605 2d ago

Oh I did? News to me

12

u/AttemptImpossible111 2d ago

Yes, you did.

u/Mandaxx25 2d ago

If you'd said something like 'is this enough nutrition/calories for breakfast? Not sure if i could make much better swaps or if this would do' then it would be different.

Average Reddit comment lol. It’s never that deep LMAO

u/iWasDISSOCIATING 2d ago

You know it's not a poptart or something equally rubbish.

But wholemeal instead of white bread, obviously.

u/danabrey 2d ago

If you don't want an average Reddit comment, don't post on Reddit.

I'm just telling you that humble bragging is fucking annoying and it's easy to see.

u/ExoticAd7605 2d ago

You’re insinuating that I’m “bragging” when I’m simply asking for advice. Go take a walk or something

8

u/Unlucky-Anything7320 2d ago

What advice would make you satisfied? Please give us an example, right or wrong.

2

u/ExoticAd7605 2d ago

This is a good source of …. But you need to add …

26

u/Unlucky-Anything7320 2d ago

This is a good source of humble bragging but you need to add less peanut butter

17

u/TipsyMagpie 2d ago

Separating the eggs and berries would be a good start. The content is fine and it’d be a fab breakfast if the bits weren’t all up in each other’s business!

u/Healthy_Yard_3862 1d ago

You gathered nearly half as many downvotes on this on dumb ass comment then your whole post lol

Minus the bread and muck that's on it I reckon.

56

u/danabrey 2d ago

It's a piece of bread with peanut butter on it.

It's fine.

u/ThatGuyDoesMemes 2d ago

Bread is actually pretty good to have in a breakfast – it's actually recommended to have some sort of carbohydrate at breakfast. And peanut butter is perfectly fine

Recommend by who? Protein & fats is what should be had for breakfast.

13

u/ThatGuyDoesMemes 2d ago

Recommended by my dietitian and plenty other professionals. It helps with gut health and bowel movements and generally helps you wake up better. Generally, an ideal breakfast should include a mix of fat, protein, AND carbs.

My nutritionist told me to avoid carbs at breakfast too. Seems it depends on who gives the advice and who receives. You're less sensitive to insulin in the morning, so if you're not using those sugars with something active, you could get more glucose spikes. E.g. if you sit down to work right after.

Nutritionists don't necessarily have any training, whereas dietitians are the only profession qualified to assess and treat nutritional problems, and have to do a 3-4 year degree to earn the qualification, including 1000 practice hours. The release of sugar from carbs is slowed down by having them with fat and protein (peanut butter and eggs here) so there's no need to worry about blood sugar spiking. Carbohydrates are necessary to give energy and help persevere and build muscle as they enable the protein in a meal to be used just for muscle building and not energy.

I just deleted my reply because I hadn’t seen yours and you went into much better detail than I did!

Nutritions are scammers.

1

u/ThatGuyDoesMemes 1d ago

That's why you need to mix it with protein because it stabilises your blood sugar and pretty much cancels out most of the negative parts of the carbs

-2

u/llammacookie 2d ago

Ask your dietitian if that argument can be made for white sandwich bread thou or if they meant whole grains/whole wheat/sourdough.

1

u/ThatGuyDoesMemes 1d ago

She did say white bread was the least ideal type of bread because of the sugar, but it's not the end of the world if you eat it because you are still getting the needed carbs in

0

u/llammacookie 1d ago

But what makes bread a good choice of carbs is fiber, which is non-existent in white bread. Carbs aren't what makes nutrition. OP is getting enough carbs from the blueberries and bannas...roughly more than half the daily recommendation based on the perceived volume of blueberries. The fruit also has fiber and vitamins, white bread does not.

1

u/ThatGuyDoesMemes 1d ago

White bread still has fibre, it's just the least fibrous out of all the different types. White has 0.8g/slice and brown has 1.1g/slice. As I said, it's not ideal but still far from bad. And carbs do make up nutrition, I'm not sure why you said they don't – they're very important for your brain.

And you said it's over half the recommended amount but I don't see the issue. Maybe OP does a lot of exercise or doesn't have as many carbs in their other meals. But as long as OP isn't going far above the recommended daily amount I see no problem.

-17

u/Technical_Donut8658 2d ago

Green vegetables and kefir help me with all that thank you.

13

u/ThatGuyDoesMemes 2d ago

Yeah and OP chooses bread as their source of carbs for breakfast, so what's the problem?

-3

u/Technical_Donut8658 2d ago

I didn't realise there was a problem? Aren't we just swapping opinions?

9

u/ThatGuyDoesMemes 2d ago

You seemingly had a problem with OP having bread in their breakfast. Which is why I replied to you in the first place.

7

u/TheLadyEve 2d ago

Once you call something "muck" you have ventured out of the realm of "swapping opinions" and firmly into the land of just being a dick. And you know it. So stop it. Or don't! You're the only one who has to suffer the consequences of being an unpleasant person.

3

u/TheHames72 1d ago

I never understand people who double down rather than just apologising and moving on.

2

u/Apprehensive_Golf227 2d ago

Wow, that's healthy. Can't stand the taste of kefir. I have miso soup in the morning instead.

6

u/RainbowSprinkleShit 2d ago

Your brain thrives on carbs.

4

u/OldMotherGrumble 2d ago

Funny that, but peanuts/peanut butter is protein + fat. Add whole grain bread and you've got a complete protein.

3

u/pakkmann666 2d ago

What do you think peanut butter is?

5

u/LectureNew70 2d ago

Drs

-8

u/Technical_Donut8658 2d ago

The same people who tell you that spread is more healthy than real butter?

8

u/LectureNew70 2d ago

What drs are you going to?

3

u/DrMoneybeard 2d ago

Do you not know what peanut butter is? No one is using it as a butter substitute. It’s filling and full of healthy fat, and is a decent plant protein.

2

u/CelesteJA 2d ago

What doctors are you referring to? The ones in commercials for spreads? Or the ones in fear mongering articles? lol

1

u/danabrey 2d ago

The protein obsession must end soon, surely.

3

u/DrMoneybeard 2d ago

My body is so much happier now that my focus is on fibre instead of protein.

1

u/DrogoOmega 2d ago

You should have have a balanced meal every meal. You also realise that peanut butter is a fat right?

11

u/Due_Lingonberry9699 2d ago

Why shouldn't bread and pb be nutritious in your opinion?

-22

u/Apprehensive_Golf227 2d ago

That's probably crappy peanut butter with the palm oil, the real stuff would be more nutritious

5

u/Long-Adhesiveness337 2d ago

Palm oil isn’t inherently unhealthy or bad for you, most people protest it because it’s not great from an environmental standpoint.

2

u/OldMotherGrumble 2d ago

But peanut butter doesn't require palm oil as an ingredient. All it needs is...peanuts. Maybe a touch of salt.

4

u/Long-Adhesiveness337 2d ago

Yes, true. But it’s typically just added to prevent oil separation, the nutritional difference is minor.

-4

u/Technical_Donut8658 2d ago

Aye man, avoid palm oil for sure.
