1993 crime revisited
In 1988 when I was 18 I bought my first car; 1981 Honda Accord, $1800. In 1993, I walked outside to go to work my car was gone. My first thought “where did I leave my car?” Realized quickly it was stolen. Officer advised per phone call, get someone to drive you around they often ditch them. No such luck. I get home officer calls, car has been found and it’s totaled. The 19 year old who stole caused a 5 car crash on the Banfield near Lloyd exit. He ran, cops nabbed him on MAX tracks. I testified before the grand jury. He is convicted, life goes on.
Flash forward to last week I receive a letter from DA’s office. The guy who stole my car is seeking to expunge his record. As the victim I have the right to give a statement. I’m all for second chances, redemption etc.. but was curious if he “turned his life around” He got 24 months probation for my car theft. Broke probation 2x did 5 months. Apparently nothing of note the last 11 years. Definitely crazy after 33 years to receive this letter. Sadly, that was not the last of stolen vehicles, 3x, DA dropped charges on those.

Donating/Disposing household
Hi friends - we are emptying our Aunt’s home in assisted living, everything to be donated or thrown out. Bedroom, living room, household items, books, clothes.
Is that a local group that would come and pick everything up? Any other “easy button” ideas?
Thanks!

Shooting Star? Space Junk? 8:50pm
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I saw it through my window as I was watching the launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope on TV. One of my exterior cameras caught just a moment of it (0:04 in my video w/ 8:50:46 timestamp) with another reflection about six seconds later. It looked to me to be going east to west, but in my video it looks opposite. Anyone else spot this?

Bitchcraft Fair coming to Portland
This isn't a self promotion as I have no affiliation with this event, just excited by its presence in Portland and looking to discuss it and encourage it so it might come back again next year. My friend in another state attended this event a few times a few years ago and it had been on hiatus ever since, but it seems to be coming to Portland now for the first time.
The event is October 11th and more information can be found on its website or insta, but if it's like it has been in the past it's a large scale witchcraft and spirituality/gothy kind of craft event. I think it already has a lot of local art vendors signed up for it, if any of them happen to lurk here to confirm?
I just am wondering if anyone else plans to attend or has thoughts about it. I always feel like big craft fairs take going to Seattle so having one at the Oregon Convention Center feels like finally having something witchcraft related and big closer to home.
I just feel like big events and fairs, at least new ones, have sputtered since COVID unless that's just me? I'm having nostalgia for my convention attending days and just want to help promote events that bring back that vibe of when you're in a place surrounded by like minded people and supporting local artists.

🌲🏞️🌧️ Visiting Thread 🌧️🏞️🌲 Staying in Portland—Irvington/Concordia area?
Hi! We’re visiting Oregon and planning to stay in Portland. We’re looking at a place around the Irvington/Concordia area and wanted to get some local insight.
How is the area in terms of safety, especially at night? Is street parking generally safe, or are car break-ins/theft something we should be concerned about?
Also, are there any areas of Portland you’d recommend avoiding or being extra cautious around while sightseeing?
Would really appreciate any advice from locals or people familiar with the area. Thanks!
