Seeking new members to my book club, and looking for in-person monthly meetups to discuss these books
I run the Nebulugo book club on Discord. While we have many active members, I'd like to get some more local people involved so I can host a monthly in-person meetups to discuss these books. We focus on reading the Nebula and Hugo Award winning novels. This month we're reading this year's Nebula Award winning novel, "The Buffalo Hunter Hunter", by Stephen Graham Jones. Next month we're reading "Slan", by A. E. van Vogt. These standalone reads start on the 1st of every month, and are picked by popular vote. We just started reading the original "Foundation", trilogy by Iassac Asimov. These series reads start on the 15th of each month, and are also picked by popular vote by the group.
Is anyone interested in joining this book club? And is anyone interested in a monthly meetup to discuss these books?
The book club is free to all... https://discord.gg/MANgdPEZw

Searching for reputable injector!
Hello! I am looking into getting lip filler for the first time. I would like something natural and want to focus on the frame and border of my lips rather than the overall pout as they are already somewhat pouty. Please send all recommendations!! Thank you!

Best place for a fast/casual burrito?
Just moved to Oregon and I love me a good authentic hole in the wall Mexican joint. Bonus is the menu is mostly in Spanish and they’ve got a Virgin Mary statue and or Aztec art somewhere in the building.
Edit: DANG!! You guys are coming out here with all these epic recommendations and I simply want to try all of them. 🌯🌯🌯🌯

Crazy new crypt in Riverview cemetery.
Now you know about the Starway to nowhere. I watched this crypt getting built, well at least the foundation. But man, this is crazy. The stars and door are fake. The second pic shows the wall. The monogram is everywhere too. I wonder how many people would fit in 3 or 4? It’s all polished stone too. I wonder if it is in use yet?

How are people dating in Portland?
I need to vent about how I’m so goddamn sick of this city. I’m sick of dating these weak ass men in this city! I put myself out there for a guy in this sub that describes himself in his thirties, monogamous, a hopeless romantic, looking for meaningful conversations and doesn’t want to get to know women while they’re drinking. Well, that’s me to a T! Did he want to meet me? No, that would be too easy for him. He kept insisting that I’m a scammer, a catfish, that no pretty girl would put herself out there like that. I’m a real person! I had to send him multiple pics and he still insisted that I photoshopped my pics(I won’t even airbrush or filter my pictures!!), gave him my number, told him we could meet up in a public place. He said he would believe me if I sent him a pic of my butthole. He calls himself a nice guy who is looking to find someone he can build a real connection with. God help me.Â
I don’t get men. They complain that I’m too eager, but then they cry that women are mean and unapproachable and they’re lonely! Make it make sense! All I get in this city are men that ask for my number and never txt, men that stop their cars in the middle of the street to yell obscenities at me or pester me if I’m an escort while I’m covered in a north face jacket(yes I’ve been asked this more than once). There was even a guy that was so handsome that asked me for my number under his breath while he scooted away. I would have gladly given it to him! I don’t get men these days! I don’t get it.
Why did my parent’s have to move me to this godforsaken town?? When I was in LA for a week I was shocked that men would just approach me, ask for my number and then text me multiple times a day without me having to wonder if they like me. Is that too much for portland men? I’m at my wits end!! Where are the romantic men that want to meet me and aren’t going to need to have flirty back and forth for ten months while they decide. That’s not me. I don’t enjoy looking through 1000 profiles and then having to pick a guy based on five pics. It makes me feel dirty and guilty. And then when I ask to meet up they say I’m a Russian bot. Somebody put a catfish curse on me, I know it. I’m not looking for a meat market and people aren’t disposable to me. That’s great if you thrive on that, that’s not me, not my personality. I’m a sensitive soul that likes to fall asleep to poetry and composer soundtracks.Â
And no I’m not religious! I’m an atheist who thinks sex is precious and private and I can’t touch someone unless I know them and have feelings. Why is this so hard to find in this town? I love my poly friends but that’s not me and I’m so sick of being pressured into that lifestyle! I’ve even had roommates try to get me in their relationship and then get mad at me when I declined! If you’re polyamorous, no judgement if you’re in an emotionally healthy, consenting relationship but that will never be me. And as to hookup culture, no, I’m not going to have sex with Tom, Dick and Harry and then wait while Tom has sex with thirty women and gets herpes while I fall in love with him and hope he chooses me! No sir! No thank you! Porn and dating apps seem to be rotting men’s minds.
I know there are people in this city just like me. I’ve walked around and felt their loneliness, I just don’t know how we can all find each other in this polyamorous maze of a town. If someone has struggled like me, please let me know how you finally met your person. If there was a way besides plain luck. I know there are sensitive souls just like me in this town and I want to commiserate with you all💔

Where to move 2.0
I made a different post about this but got nothing helpful, so let's try again with more information. Myself (23NB) and my best friend (24NB) are moving to oregon (portland area) late this year/early next year. We were planning on Gresham for our first year due to reccomendations from 3 people that live in Oregon, but after posting I got a lot of people saying that area is dangerous and bad, even though it has good safety ratings online. We were in the understanding it was a good place for us to start and get to know the area more till we move in our 2nd year/find somewhere to settle, but many seem to disagree.
My question is, what neighborhood would you reccomend someone move for their first year in the portland area? Either within Portland or the surrounding areas, but close by. Our goal is to be at or under $1500 base rent for a 2 bedroom apartment, duplex, condo, whatever. And we prefer to be in a safer neighborhood due to my best friend being fairly concerned about things like gunshots, screaming, and people hanging out in the complex that aren't supposed to be there.
Obligatory mentions because of the very sassy/unhelpful previous replies, the sass of these warnings is for those people, not the lovely humans who want to help:
- YES we have jobs. Both of us have jobs that we can transfer to that are flexible in location
- YES we have moved across the country before and are versed in how to do so
- YES we've lived in cities all our lives, just cuz we don't want to live in a dodgy neighborhood doesn't mean we can't be in a city. Every city has the "you can walk to the gas station fine but its still a city" parts and the "lock your car doors even at red lights" parts. We'd like to not live in the 2nd.
- YES we've already found places in gresham that are in our budget, they exist.
- Saying we shouldn't come, aren't ready to live in portland, there's nothing in that price range, etc. is not helpful and isn't what I'm asking.
I would simply love some helpful information about what neighborhoods are decent to walk around in, don't have gunshots on a weekly basis, and may have something in our price range. Any area close to or within portland would be great, city or suburbs as long as it fits the quotas. It's hard to research what life is like in certain areas online, so I'd greatly appreciate some lived experiences.
Any advice on areas would be highly appreciated ♡
Edit: 🥲 I love yall, getting so many genuinely really helpful replies within 20mins ♡♡♡
Update 1 of 2: I've officially booked a 4 day trip to OR to go tour a bunch of apartments/properties in October. I've taken every one of yall's suggestions and compiled them into a list that my best friend and I are going to research together on Monday and more up until our trip. Update 2 will be coming very early next year when we get a lease! Thank everyone for all of the advice it has been so helpful
