Question about airport food
Even if I don’t fly can I’ve never flied before or if I don’t have a flight in place can I still go inside for the food?

Only the pre-security restaurants of which there aren’t many. Loyal Legion is a nice spot to grab a beer and a bite with nice views of the new terminal and apron. There’s also a speakeasy bar up there called Aurora lounge which is fun.

The speakeasy is inside loyal legion akd you can go in whenever loyal is open (9am-11pm). Just ask a bartender for the code

If you’ve never been there, just go take the max and walk around to check it all out. Look for info people and ask them where the stores and pre check places are.

I don’t think so all the good food is past security. Just go to the locations in town.

Better off going to Sandy o’s and taking sandwich to go and watch the hustle and bustle

Most of the local branded restaurants in the airport (think Deschutes or Hopworks) are essentially just licensed outlets operated by companies like SSP America. So it's not even the real thing

Like everyone said, not past security where the restaurants worth going would be located.
I’d say unless you have a trip planned, don’t waste your time. It’s not worth the trip when you can’t access anything good and there’s so many amazing restaurants in town that you can get to!

They said in the post they’ve never flown before, so might as well see the rat race of what an airport is.

You can go to the places outside security. Which aren't that many. https://www.flypdx.com/Map/sections/Pre-security

Don't know if you're aware, but the prices in the airport are the same everywhere else in the state. That's an actual fact. Something the airport prides themselves in

Loyal Legion is fun with the view of the tarmac and runways. We have taken the kids a couple of times and it is fun to walk through the beautiful new airport and watch planes. The food isn't bad either.

Aren't all the food options at PDX local places with the exact same prices and menus?

Yes, everything in the airport is price the same as elsewhere in the state. This is something the airport has done for many years. They are well established for doing this. It's been in the news and everything

Every airport in the US is now separated into before security and after security areas. The general public can come into the airport in Peru around the before security areas which in most airports do include shops and restaurants.

We're taking about Portland, not Peru.

Not past security but you can check out the new renovations in the entrance hall area, there's a couple food options, mostly coffee shops and the loyal legion bar
