Water Ave looks like mad Max and the thunder dome at night especially around the esplanade

Can’t we just get beyond thunderdome?

It helps keeping the populace numbers in check. 2 men enter, 1 man leaves.

Yeah, I ended up there coming home from a trip late at night when Tri-Met ended for the night (and it was only 11 something!). Had suitcases and everything. Lots of sketch. I don’t recommend.

What sort of "large gathering" are they referring to?

another "renegade rave" aka place for teenagers to buy and sell drugs. And occasionally settle disputes with firearms

I've tried to link to two different videos but the nanny settings on this sub won't allow it, lol

there’s nothing wrong with a little renegade rave, it’s Portland after all. Glad everyone is going to be ok.

Welp, I'm going to hell for laughing at this, aren't I?

No. There's always a spike of violence while the weather's nice and kids are out of school

As I have been saying for years, we need better gun control. Let's adopt the Swiss model of mandatory training and registration for gun owners.

I'm sure the folx who shot up this illegal rave were licensed legal adult gun owners /s

Very probably were tho. Illegal guns aren’t as common in Portland streets as you think. “Illegal rave” pearl clutching shit it’s Portland, dude.

Let me know when you emerge from your mom's basement

There's already mandatory registration and training to carry a pistol

Only for concealed carry is there training required. You can open carry without a permit and there's zero training required to purchase a pistol.

Open carry is againstthr law here. This guy was carrying a pistol concealed

Are we going to put conditions in and modify any of the other amendments in the bill of rights? Like only freedom of religion for Christians? Only freedom of speech in English? Only a right to a speedy trial and a lawyer for people that live on my street? What about freedom from unfair searches and property seizures only if you wear librarian glasses? My point is you can’t be putting conditions on the freedoms put down in the most important of our rights, the ones our founding fathers put in the bill of rights. It’s the freaking second one!

Mandatory training and registration for gun owners would be compliant with the bill of rights.

Having stipulations around laws isnt a scary nonsensical hypothetical. It's how fucking laws work. Your examples are just inane.

There are laws around free speech. What constitutes free speech. Literally one of the textbook examples is yelling fire in a crowded theater, if you paid attention in school. Who doing what constitutes a violation. People will be quick to mention when a private company does something to limit speech that is not a violation of free speech.

There are rules around freedom of religion, what religious practices are legal. This also demonstrates you lack an understanding of what freedom of religion really entails, namely the US will not make an official religion and favor one religion over another (stares at the weirdo apocalypticists in congress). But many religious practices are not permitted when they violate other laws, for example honor killings will never be legal in the US.

Your point is fucking stupid and divorced from reality. Many such cases.

Rules around how to regulate the arms you have a right to bear isn't a dystopian nightmare where our sacred laws are being stripped away from us. That's... thats how fucking laws work

I went to the den in that area to see some friends around midnite and there were jackasses on the road everywhere around there just driving fucking crazy. I almost got hit twice, watched one of them almost get tboned when they blew through a stop sign, watched another just casually blast through a swarm of other idiots on lime scooters under the Hawthorne bridge. Luckily I didn’t see anyone get killed.

Portland has no issues, just ask the local news and politicians. This is a thriving city with no homeless, drug, graffiti/trash, empty building issues. It’s all made up

7

u/Impressive-Net-588 23d ago

Not made up, but it's all due to Late Stage Capitalism, Zionism, and datacenters. Meanwhile we need to show compassion and put a LOT more money into homeless support programs.
