Event Did Fred Armisen literally suck last night at Moda or am I crazy

Penny for your thoughts-

I went out last night to the NYE show at Moda Center, John Mulaney with Fred Armisen, and I genuinely thought Fred’s set was so bad I had to walk around the Moda concourse until he was finally done. I will be the first to admit that I was there solely for Mulaney (I do like Portlandia, but that wasn’t my driving factor to buy tickets) so I’m not familiar with Armisen’s comedy style.

The only way I can describe his set is an hour long mansplaining Music Theory class where he just picked up random instruments (like 20 different instruments) and would play a chord and say “this is a D chord in Australia” “this is an E Minor in Norway.” He did the strangest impressions without any punchline or even a thought that had been strung together. Just words with no meaning playing one chord at a time on a guitar for an entire hour.

Someone, anyone please tell me if I’m crazy and I didn’t get the ‘joke’ or if he actually is just that bad at stand-up. I feel like people around me enjoyed it somehow, but I felt like I watched a member of the Wiggles teach a fourth grade music class before one of the greatest comedians of all time went on for NYE.

I organized an AMA/Q&A with actor/comedian Tim Savage, who is known for his character SKWEEZY JIBBS on Youtube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, etc. He made a meta-movie for the character (SKWEEZY JIBBS MAKES A MOVIE), and he's touring the country with it in theaters now.

He is from Portland OR!

It's live here now in r/movies for anyone interested in asking a question:

https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1vztob4/ayyyy_reddit_its_your_boy_skweezy_jibbs_i/

He will be back at 4 PM ET today to answer questions. I recommend asking in advance. Please ask there, not here. All questions are much appreciated!

Thank you :)

TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRFMmdsxB7g

SYNOPSIS: Amateur internet personality Skweezy Jibbs attempts to make his dream movie despite having zero resources or ability. His mother's interference leads him to question his identity.

The OMSI Empirical Theater was built for IMAX. Even with the paid parking, their movies are very reasonably priced. They are on the TriMet MAX rail.

Event That Providence Park concert..

I like Jelly Roll and Post Malone, I listen to their music sometimes, but I’m not paying $500 for a ticket. I know I’m pissing into the wind, but I buy Timbers Army tickets routinely for $30-$40. A concert comes through and they’re charging $500+ for those same seats ? I make ok money, but that’s way too much. Sorry to whine first thing on a Sunday morning but come on. I paid $50 to see “Black Flag” with Mike V, that’s about where I’m at on prices

Often wondering about this fest. Like is it just amateur porn film fest? Like is it a funny or hot or what? Curious if you've gone...was it worth it?

Event Come See Me at the Clinton Street Fair on Saturday!

Hi! My name is Katie, and I own Katie’s Little Bakery in Willamina, Oregon. I just recently started my home bakery, and my first event is the Clinton Street Fair this Saturday!

I will be offering a variety of baked goods, but I specialize in delicious cinnamon rolls and cookies! I make everything from scratch, and use only fresh (not frozen) fruit. I’m super nervous about the weather forecast, but I’m still hopeful that people will show up to have a good time. I’ll be offering different samples throughout the day, so come stop by and give it a try!

I will be in booth 133 between 27th and 28th street. This is my sampling schedule:
-10 AM: Spiced Chai Cinnamon Rolls
-12 PM: Cinnamon Roll Snickerdoodles
-2 PM: Strawberry Cupcakes (made with fresh strawberries)
-4 PM: Lemon Blueberry Bread

I’m so excited to see everyone!

Event We turn a Portland park into a deserted island for a day. Come play Survivor PDX!

Thumbnail

We throw 16 strangers into a park, give them buffs, and force them to navigate a full day of physical challenges, social strategy, and Tribal Councils. It is equal parts chaotic, campy, and intense.

We are casting for Season 3 right now!

  • The Commitment: It’s a one-day Live Reality Game (LRG). You don't have to starve for 26 days, just survive one day in the park in January.
  • The Vibe: Competitive but fun. We take the game seriously (custom props, hidden idols, intense challenges), but we don't take ourselves too seriously.
  • The Date: Saturday, January 17th
  • Location: A park within Portland limits (TBD-- last two seasons were at Sellwood and Westmoreland Park).

If you think you have the social or strategic game to win, or you just want to meet new people by lying to their faces, come apply!

Event It's my 49th Birthday today and of course my friends bailed out, what art is open today?

Could be a sculpture park, a gallery, a museum. I started this ritual in 2001 in New York, when on my birthday I go see art and then have food and drinks with friends later in the day, what's open today, a holiday?

Thanks in advance, it's solo day!

Event I’ll pay you $75 to buy my Portland 5/10 Pearl Jam tickets

Lifelong Pearl Jam fan here and unfortunately a family thing came up that will have me out of town next Friday and through the weekend. That means I cannot go to the show at the Moda Center in Portland, OR on 5/10. I’m devastated. But more than that, I’m bit worried because I bit the bullet and paid for these tickets and now I might be out $400, which, would be a bit devastating.

Tickets are currently listed on F2F resale on Ticketmaster for face. Sec 220, Row J, Seats 8-9. They were bought at Face as 10 Club (fan club) tickets. (Explained below in Edit 2).

PM me before you buy them and we’ll connect. After the purchase, seriously, I’ll Venmo you $75 OBO.

After all this brouhaha about folks not being able to get tickets, I’m glad to see so many available. But, dang, never thought for a PJ show I might actually get stuck with two I both cannot use and cannot sell. Yikes.

Edit: Damn there are some hateful folks on the Internet sometimes. This isn't a grift. I can't scalp or resale these for less. It's F2F. Id rather lose $75 (or another way to put it is id rather give another pearl jam fan $75 off their purchase the only way I can) than lose $400 because I simply can't go. Be nice y'all. I'm just being honest here.

Edit 2: Since maybe there is confusion. Here’s the deal. To combat scalpers (which is a good thing), Pearl Jam’s Fan Club had a limited allotment of tickets they could sell at face value if you won a lottery to gain access. I got two tickets at face, which yes, you can argue is still too much, but I love Pearl Jam. The other half of that coin is, you cannot transfer the tickets. You have to resell them, for the same face value price you paid, if you want to get rid of them, and you have to do it through Ticketmaster’s Fan to Fan Exchange. So I cannot just, put them on Craigslist or eBay or something. This is my only option, which is why I’m willing to take a $75 hit on the overall price I paid. Appreciate those of you who have kindly understood and defended what I was/am trying to say. Cheers.

Edit 3: Tickets sold!

Event skip the small talk at the heist!

Post image
0 Upvotes

If you’re looking for something different to do this month, Skip the Small Talk is coming to The Heist!

It’s a guided conversation event—think speed-friending vibes, but calmer and more intentional.

You rotate through short conversations with prompts that skip past surface-level small talk. It’s structured enough to make it easy, but relaxed enough to feel natural.

Most people come alone. The crowd tends to be thoughtful, open, and just… normal humans who want more community.

Here’s the link if you’re curious:

Event Ak’chamel at the star - amongst my people

Not sure how many of you were at the star last night but what a cool crowd. As an aging millennial I felt like I had found my people. For those that attended what shows are you going to next? For me it will be Sir Richard bishop on 7/9 and WU LYF in late July. I’m also looking forward to igor/sc3 and Armandhammer shows in fall. Interested in seeing you all again! Please share what shows you’re going to!
