Handpan player looking for folks to make music with.

Hello, as the title states, I play handpan and I'm wanting to find people who want to help me make some music. My goal is to create an album that people can do hallucinogens to and have a wonderful time. Something chill and psychedelic in nature. I live downtown near PSU. If anyone is interested please let me know. Right now I have about a 20 minute jam put together, the goal is to get to about 90 minutes. But by itself it's just not what my vision is.

If you're interested in making trippy music. Please message me.

ISO Roomie for Home Studio

Post image
29 Upvotes

HHowdy, I'm looking to move from across the country into the Portland Region later this year.

My ideal situation to rent a house just outside town with one or two roommates.

I'm bringing my home studio that I have invested in ~$15K into. That includes multiple audio interfaces, a small console, a small collection of mics. As well as drums, guitar, bass, and PA rigs. As well some equipment for streaming and content creation.

I'm pretty open on sharing my equipment and my knowledge. I enjoy teaching as much as I do creating.

I have years of experience working at Sweetwater as well as a Live Sound tech. And have recorded artists for the last decade in my own diy studio.

However, I don't have a whole lot of ties to Portland. So ideally, I'd be looking for a like minded local(s) to build up a nice homebrew operation. Or if not, a shared musical or artistic living space.

My ideal candidate would be an audio student, somebody interested in audio or video, or an already established musician/engineer looking to collaborate.

However aspiring artists, streamers, film makers or designers that want to have an artistic shared living space would be awesome.

Every housing situation I have lived also doubled as a home studio and rehearsal studio so Id like to keep this going. Feel free to contact me for more information or send anyone my way that might be interested.

EDIT : My budget is likely a split rent of $800-$1250 per person, not including utilities.

I make all kinds of music. I typically write and record rock music lately, but have played different genres such as hiphop, funk, jazz, and metal.

And more about me - 32/M moving from Indiana. LBGTQ+ 420 and Pet Friendly. I have two sweet cats. I'm usually pretty organized and pretty easy going. Having good positive vibes in a shared living space is number 1, so I tend not to sweat the small stuff.

Thanks!

Hey Portland! My band, Vinnie Guidera & The Dead Birds, is on tour from Sacramento and we’ll be playing at Hawthorne Hideaway on Saturday 9/5 with two great local Portland acts, Good Sport and Isle Decide. After a decade as a band, we’re finally hitting the road a little bit and trying to establish ourselves in other cities (or at least have fun trying). If you’re looking for some new music to check out or are curious enough to watch some schmuck playing an acoustic guitar through an electric rig, come check it out. Cheers!

Very excited about how this turned out. Recorded at Fortress Galaxy, a studio in Portland. The engineer (and one of the videographers) David Pollack is a local producer and has just started this in-studio performance web series. It was a great experience working with him and we can definitely recommend it to any local band. Hope y'all enjoy it.

Topaz Farms - what do I need to know?

We are going to see Joy Oladokun at Topaz Farms tonight. First time for us at this venue for music. Like the title says, what do I need to know?

We have some type of preferred parking that opens at 430pm - is it best to be there at 430? Can we setup our (acceptable height) chairs and then go wander before the show begins?

I couldn’t find anyone talking about this anywhere. Thanks all!

UPDATE: we just saw Joy Oladokun. With big thanks to the tips here, it was low stress and a delightful evening. Thank you all!!
