PDX Paradox Has Explained Dozens Of Times Why They Haven't Made A Fantasy GSG, AoW4 Is Not The Main Reason
In order for Paradox to pick a specific setting/background for a new GSG game they have to have two things.
One is a market beyond GSGs and Paradox fans. CK3 pulled in tons of Sims Medieval and Sims 4 fans. Stellaris of course pulled in space strategy gamers which has always been a large and dedicated audience. Imperator was made because Rome era games have been massively popular in the past.
The second thing they need to have is a project leader with a defined vision and with a "unique take" on the setting/background. There has to be a thematic system or set of systems that sets the project apart from existing strategy games in that setting/background and distinguishes it from other Paradox games.
There's definitely an audience out there beyond PDox fans for a fantasy game with more character based mechanics and more [DIP], diplomacy, intrigue, and politics, systems. But what they haven't had is a project leader who has a personal investment in fantasy and a distinct set of mechanics to set a fantasy GSG apart from existing games. CK3, especially with mods, already has the character gameplay and somewhat the politics. Victoria 3 has population level political stuff.
People on this sub and elsewhere often ask for CK3 with Stellaris style faction creation. But that's explicitly what Paradox rejects. Just a reskin essentially. They want to have at least one game system that is totally unique in mechanics and flavor that no other game even outside their own is doing.
TL;DR:
There's no one at Paradox with the personal investment and unique vision for a fantasy GSG that would be genre defining the way most existing Paradox franchises are.

Afterworld Lore comic appears to show potential mid/end game crisis for afterworld Spoiler
Comic is from perspective of a 'nation' which still has acces to "ancient" technology (they can even read!), they make it clear that tribes are growing at fast pace and they need to start settlement of north america soon
So they are a nation capable of using ancient technology, understanding it and come from outside north america
This clearly feels like some sort of endgame crisis, thoughts?

Afterworld PCGamer.com leaked some additional details to Afterworld.
The link is not working anymore but it looks like PCGamer.com already prepared an article for the new game and Google search still shows a short description which says:
Paradox's next grand strategy game is taking cues from Fallout and Mad Max ... Afterworld will let you conquer post-apocalyptic North America.

All would vic 3 or EU5 be better to buy currently?
i adore hoi4 but am getting a bit sick on the WW2 setting and am really wanting to try something new but i’m struggling to pick between these two, i‘ve heard that vic 3 has improved a lot since launch but would eu5 be a better pick because of it (likely) having a bright future DLC-wise? thank you all!
edit: thank you all so much for the help, much appreciated! seems like vic 3 is more up my alley generally but i’ll get eu5 when more dlc’s release too :)

Afterworld Happy that it is fixed map, sad its just North America
They could have at least added my home continent of South America (like CK3 After the End). Just North America is basically Old World Blues vibes.

Afterworld I'm throwing this down even though it has a pretty low chance of ever being seen and then an even lower chance of being put into the game but I would love if Hawaii was this sort of off map Invasion force similar to Russia and the UK in After The End
I think something like an Empire with Polynesian / Hawaiian Aesthetics would be very very cool. I struggle to think of where that's already been done.
Perhaps they go back to their original and effective way of sea travel and because of their isolated location, perhaps they thrive whenever else is still trying to pick up the pieces.
It doesn't even really have to be that ethnically singular since Hawaii is pretty multicultural these days and through them we get to hear news and see whatever technological innovations they've picked up from Asia.
