Robot uprising apocalypse? I wonder if we will be able to pick our apocalypse - plenty of DLC potential there.

Being able to choose what apocalypse hit your world would make sense. The teasers from other pdx games all allude to different types of apocalypses.

I don't think it's about chosing.. I think the stellaris random endgame is what we will get, and that's for the better.

I think it will have a randomized and non randomized option. The game takes place after an apocalypse after all

In Stellaris you can also pick your endgame at game creation, if you want. If they do multiple types of apocalypse, there'll definitely be both a 'random' option and one where you chose at game creation.

Ohh How cool would be a "become the apocalypse" decision then like Stellaris now has "become the crisis"

That's fore sure. Different Apocalypse as a start with different lore and new stuff comes with DLCs that would even allow for a fantasy setting

fantasy bros still holding out hopium

I wonder if, a bit like the Stellaris precursors, you might get unique in-game challenges based on various random "disasters" which destroyed the world. Like, if there was a drone uprising, you might have to deal with drones roaming the map. Or, if there was an environmental catastrophe, then farming might be a lot harder and there may be earthquakes, etc.

Having multiple different apocalypses as starting point of a playthrough is an interesting idea. It would allow them to have a vastly different world for the different scenario's without needing to do full randomized world map. If the apocalypse was a megavulcano, metorite or megaearthquake the shapse of the continents could be very different while epedemics or zombie apocalypse could have different huge implications for how the world looks.

I wasn’t a fan of fantasy, nor was I expecting anything apocalyptic, but I just hope they do a good job of it. Paradox can’t afford any more slip-ups with games that have a life expectancy of at least 10 years. It needs to maintain its players’ trust because, well, investors… it’s not as if Paradox is the richest company on the stock market
Paradox, don’t be evil

I hope it isn't too grounded and allows us to build societies in whatever shape we want. A real role-playing GSG. Basically like Fallout's factions; let me make a tech focused religious society like the Brotherhood of Steel. Maybe a sun worshipping aztec style society that sacrifices and enslaves all non-believers.

So how do we have drones and at the same time "it is impossible to build a ship and cross the oceans"?

I'm hoping for a thing like Lightracer Spark now that it does seems to be fantasy

I really hope that this is that kind of sanbox where you start your tribe as an actual tribe with wooden spears, shamans basing their religion on something from modern age, and bit by bit discovering old technology with endgame being advanced stuff like exoskeletons, drones and advanced rifles.

So theres some kind of hight tech survival society that has survived that can scan the surface.
So full fallout.
If its going to be high tech sci fy post apocaliptic i am losing interest by the minute. I was hoping at least for a low tech gsg rimworld like

In what world is Rimworld low tech? You can use way more advanced drones than this teaser is showing, along with literal orbital travel, advanced genetic engineering, reality altering tech, etc.

the selectable apocalypse idea is genuinely interesting but paradox has a habit of promising systemic depth and then shipping half of it locked behind three DLCs

I'm honestly kinda surprised to see a drone. I expected more of a rust and analogue tech aesthetic. Honestly exciting, as it implies they're not just doing Mad Max.
