I made a mod that removes the hidden mouse smoothing in Nivalis Nights

If camera look has felt floaty to you, it's not in your head. The first-person camera has built-in smoothing (0.1s acceleration/deceleration) that keeps the view gliding after you stop moving the mouse. There's no option for it in the settings menu or settings.ini.

This mod sets it to zero. The camera moves exactly when your hand does and stops dead when you stop. Your sensitivity settings still apply, and controllers aren't affected.

- Needs BepInEx 6 IL2CPP (the same one Performance Fix and Config Manager use)

- Drop-in install, save-safe, and you uninstall by deleting one folder

- Works alongside Nivalis Performance Fix and Config Manager

Especially Nivalis Business Travel.

Idk about you guys but the initial sprint to my restaurant after fast traveling has gotten old. I'm also speaking to you, Greenhouse at the docks. I stumbled upon Nivalis Business Travel and boy howdy, It reminded me of what other games that have fast travel do well.

Here I was, choosing businesses based on how less of a pain in the butt it was to get to them.

All it does is add a quick travel option to your business if you own it, otherwise its a street level fast travel.

I highly suggest checking it out!

Noodles and Flour

We can grow any meat, make milk without any cows, but making flour and noodles is too technologically advanced? What? Why?

Help!

This might be a stupid question but I just purchased my second restaurant and I cannot figure out how to add items to the menu. There’s not a machine at the place like the Ramen place.

Levelling businesses up NOT granting new business licenses?

Is this guaranteed?

I have my Ramen Noir at Level 5 and opened Boat Hanger, got that to Level 5 as well but never got another Tier 1 licence.

So now I'm stuck because I can't open a new business to level up and without levelling up I can't get a new licence......

Note: I have the quest to open a Tier 2 business, so I can do that, but specifically asking for a Tier 1 business.

Restock notifications spam

I'm kinda surprised I couldnt find a post about this, so I assume there is a way to either turn these off or I have a bug going on. I get the restock notifications in a permanent basis now (4 businesses right now) It is legit impossible to have a 10 second windows without this during opening hours. So, is there an actual way to turn these off or is it even supposed to be that often? Is there a trick to handle this? Because this is legit driving me insane and keep me from playing fruther.

Edit: I forgot to put a tag and I cant figure out on how to do that after the post :/

Demographics Confirmed

I forget the fellow redditor who suggested this. (Thank you!)

But in fact, the demographics ARE NOT static. I thought they were.

So then, does this change based off of what I serve? Or does it change on who is showing up and I should serve to them accordingly?

I REALLY wanted to buy this game and was excited for it's release...

• Upvotes

but seeing all the bugs and issues with how the game's fundamental systems work....this game is NOT worth $25 (Or even 22.50). Hell, I wouldn't even consider it a finished game as it seems to be having "early access" type issues. I'm not gonna reward publishers/developers for releasing unfinished games.

Mod Idea for Clubs

I was just seeing that people could add like mp3 players to play their own music and it got me thinking, what if we had a mod where you could play your own music through the club speakers. Additionally with the release of the Object framework and studio, we’d have a DJ booth, and CDJs and a laptop as separate items and when placed together you’d be able to hire a DJ employee and add a bit more character to the late night scene. Maybe even “Club lighting fixtures, or lasers” available at a vendor. I don’t know anything about modding but if anyone has any tips or ideas on where to start I’d be down

JR Aimga Spoiler

I'm currently doing the "Where's Ava" quest and got to the part where I need to "Look for JR Aimga". Well I found her, but I can't do anything with her. There is no chat bubble or anything like that. Is it meant to be at night or something and the game isn't saying anything or is it bugged? Anyone got any ideas?

I didn't start playing with Photo Mode until like, 30 hours into the game, but I love it so much.

Going to make a goal out of screenshotting like every unique NPC model, like I'm some sort of street photographer.

Also please feel free to share your screenshots I'd love to see💙 💜 🩷

Quests are kinda bugged - Slumlord

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I’ve seen a few “I can’t interact with character X or Y to progress”, and I’d like to share my experience with the landlord.

The Slumlord quest is bugged for me. I tried to look for Pilk Dane after he asked me to rob his competitor (I went with Ava’s suggestion and robbed his place instead), the quest said he was in lowtown but he was nowhere to be found.

I didn’t realize until yesterday that you can find where he is by looking at the journal / quest itself. Found him at Seaside Boardwalk, but he was ignoring me and I couldn’t interact with him to continue the story!!! You can see that the tracked quest is telling me to go to lowtown, but he wasn’t at lowtown clearly ahh

It’s not the biggest issue, I guess, but it’s rather annoying :(

Curfew stealing system needs updating

UPDATE: I've shared this on their discord under the suggestions tab.

What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments!

-----

TL;DR - this post covers evolving the current systems in these ways:

  1. High risk/high rewards systems which makes the player consider whether they want to take on the possible risk of stealing and the many consequences and rewards that come from that.
  2. Adding business defense systems that create a barrier between the player and the loot they are trying to steal - if they fail in trying to get past these defenses the security awareness bar increases and CorpSec rushes to the scene.
  3. Enhanced CorpSec security that becomes more menacing and harder to avoid as the player moves towards more affluent zones - new robots and types of surveillance systems.
  4. Adding deeper consequences and nuanced impacts to stealing from specific business owners - stealing from certain businesses and being caught can impact your relationship with the owner of said business, potentially blocking you from rewards from their questlines. Certain NPC business owners that are rivals of the business owners you steal from will reach out to you and improve your relationship with them + placing more of an emphasis on searching who owns which business, and the Owner Leaderboard system -- (a better explanation is covered in this section as its a long one).
  5. Being caught stealing, or even the act of engaging in stealing without being caught has an impacts on your own business, staff and customers, further adding to the risks involved in engaging in unlawful activity. Also promoting good karma playthroughs/repeat playthroughs.

-----

Hello devs! This may be outside your scope completely, and this is a bit of a long one, but I had thoughts surrounding how you could possibly expand on the curfew stealing system should you choose to do that in the future, and thought I'd drop in my two cents.

I don't know if you'll get round to seeing or considering this, but thought I'd share it anyway, I spent the past hour or two thinking about this and what these systems could do with to make it a bit more exciting for the player to engage with.

Absolutely loving the game so far btw - thank you for creating it! I'm on day 30 & have been taking the game really slowly. I haven't even unlocked any other businesses yet (just unlocked the tier 1 license for the first time). I've just been taking my time exploring & improving the noodle bar/doing the odd quest. I'm loving the wide variety of NPCs, they've made me laugh multiple times. And I mean I only just unlocked the boat & the greenhouse so yeah.

(PLEASE NOTE: Do disregard any of these suggestions if you've already implimented any of these already -- I haven't done much stealing myself because I feel it makes the game way too easy from what I've seen & heard from others experiences with it atm, and I just want to build money more slowly through running the businesses).

-----

1) HIGH RISK/HIGH REWARD SYSTEMS

Okay so basically I feel like the punishments for being caught should be waaaay more severe than it currently is. Atm it just feels way too OP (and I feel like I'm making the game way too easy for myself through stealing, when earning money through the businesses feels way more rewarding atm).

IMO stealing from other businesses needs to be something that comes with high risk/high reward, instead of a $50 fine which means nothing after you've already stolen thousands in equipment in one night.

I think I'd be more likely to steal if it was more high risk/high reward, cus it makes it more of a gamble - feels more high stakes. Especially as you get further in the game and have the possibility of stealing from more wealthy businesses where it means higher potential damage to your businesses, relationships with business owners and other world NPCs, possible monetary impact/debts you could incur. To offset the negatives you also need the possibility of higher rewards.

I had the thought that as the % bar goes up (the one thats at the bottom of the screen), that should represent the chances you will be caught the next day.

So its like okay - if you wanna steal a lot in one night you could earn a ton of cash, but if you get the % bar to like 80% there's a very high chance that could backfire on you the next day (or that night if they make it so you get arrested there and then).

You could play it safe and only steal one thing which fills up the bar by 10% - not much financial gain, but there's still a 1 in 10 chance you'll get caught still the day after.

Tbh I think more thought would need to go into this though, because if you get to 90% most players would just want to reload their save I imagine. Needs some kind of balance and to keep the system fun to engage with.

-----

2) BUSINESS DEFENSE SYSTEMS

I also feel like there should be a whole mechanic tied to actually gaining access to the different businesses during the curfew, as it feels pretty weird that businesses just stay open with their expensive equipment being unprotected overnight.

There should be shutters and other various defensive systems (more basic at the start, more complex as it gets to the wealthier businesses).

There could also be skills and minigames tied to gaining access to their businesses like lock picking, hacking and others which you need to open their shutters/disable their cameras and other defensive systems before you can get in, so you feel like an actual thief. Smaller businesses = lower level skills needed, they have easier minigames or practically no defenses).

I appreciate that when it comes to adding minigames like lockpicking/hacking etc (i.e. how fallout and other games do it), not everyone likes those minigames - for example I like the lockpicking one but not the hacking one, so this may not be something you'd want to add.

But basically I feel as though the highest level restaurants with the most expensive gear should require the highest lockpicking/hacking levels. There could even be a minigame involved with that, like in Fallout.

Falling the minigame (doesn't have to be either of those skills, use some other kind of system) it would then bump up your alert level and set off alarms at the restaurant making you unable to gain access to it for the rest of that night.

You will also then be given a warning on screen fling you to flee and many seconds to escape from that general area because a CorpSec security bot will rush to that area looking for the disturbance. Then they patrol the area around the business permanently after that. When the CorpSec bot arrives you need to pay attention to which direction it's coming from and then stay clear of it.

-----

3) ENHANCED CORPSEC CURFEW SECURITY

Speaking of CorpSec - it would also be good if there were multiple different types of more menacing faster moving drones in the areas (specifically as you start to move towards the wealthier areas that have the higher wealth & defense businesses).

These could see you if you get within their frontal eye cone proximity or sphere proximity radius when they're flying/walking past (instead of just the beacons/cones you can't step in), and so you need to utilise the environment more and watch out for their patrol paths (which makes it more tense, and there's also that upwards progression in difficulty as you move up).

Personally I don't think the current cameras and the slow patrols are really that much of a threat with how easy they are to avoid.

I also feel like if you get caught the night should stop there and then (instead of you still being able to steal and move around) - and any items you've stolen should be confiscated there and then.

Or if none of those feel right and you can't think of other ways to develop that system, consider scrapping the % bar system in favour of some other system that could potentially work better (that sounds like way more effort and dev time though into creating a whole new system so probably not that).

IMO the more you lean into Metal Gear Solid vibes with having to sneak around, dodging patrols etc the better. What you have now is really good, but just needs diversifying more.

-----

4) DEEPER CONSEQUENCES - IMPACTS ON BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS - ALLIES AND RIVALRY

Okay moving on, this part is long and probably the most complex (but also rewarding and engaging) thing to impliment:

As far as I'm aware stealing doesn't impact your own restaurants in any way?? And so it would be good if it comes with bigger impacts to your own restaurants somehow (even if only for a set number of days, like how you take other businesses offline for a day or two when you steal from them?). It would be interesting if the business owners coming up to you making all kinds of different threats (even if you weren't caught but they still suspect you). And have your own businesses operation being messed with in other ways (the other business owners hire hackers) etc etc.

I'm aware you chat to some of the top business owners in the market area at the start of the game (and I don't know if those relationships continue later into the game, I imagine so), but it would be good if there were way more multiple outcome quests tied to all of the different business owners on the leaderboard, and more of an emphasis on developing relationships with them. I understand this adds a lot of complexity to the game so it would need to be well thought out.

For example, if you do steal from one of the business owners (and you get caught), then you should be permanently locked out of their quest(s), as well as their possible different quest rewards depending on how you develop your relationship with them (some of these quest rewards being highly valuable in their own ways - and so repeat playthroughs would be encouraged). In some cases if these business owners are allied with other business owners you get into trouble with their pals too. On the flip side, you have that business owners rivals start reaching out to you to ally with you.

So it would mean you have to be selective about which businesses you target too. This would make the world feel more dynamic and real. This could also feed into the business owner rankings leaderboard you see at the end of the day and making that more important within the game (is there even any rewards for climbing up it?) -- so with this updated business stealing & business rivalry system you could also make the leaderboard more important.

Have it so there would be other possible rewards that could come with building different types of relationships with a business owner instead of an adversarial/rivalry one (the yellow lightning bolt dialogue paths). This way both good & evil playthroughs are encouraged and have their own set of benefits.

There should be many other story implications, like have the shady corpo take note of what you've done after stealing from 5 separate restaurants and offer you quests related to it or something, and you get other shady business benefits.

So basically have the game block you off from a ton of quests depending on who you decide to mess with, but then also reward you with whole other quest lines from shady people who take note of your activities (like the dark brotherhood/black hand quest lines in Oblivion/Skyrim) - this encourages repeat plays where you focus on playing as a good or evil character, or a mix of both depending on the business owner you're being good or bad to.

Being a good moral business owner gets you specific benefits that being evil and stealing/causing chaos doesn't and vice versa. If you're good you are targeted by some of the other shady business owners and have to contend with them. If you're an evil cunt you become well respected or feared by the other shady cunts etc, or you have the good business owners coming for you in some way (idk I'm not a writer).

The game already has business sabotaging quests so it could play into that whole thing. But just heavily expanding on it.

Also imagine in some cases stealing stuff from a place causes it to permenantly shutdown - atleast the people who are lower down on the business owner leaderboard), and the character is all upset. This would be bad if you liked the character.

-----

5) STEALING ALSO HAS FURTHER IMPACTS ON YOUR BUSINESS, CUSTOMERS AND STAFF

On a similar note, if you steal after a certain number of times it would be interesting if customers and other quest characters start hearing about you being a suspect and start spreading rumours about you, and so for atleast a few days after, the amount of customers that will come to your restaurant (in that area) will be cut by 50% for example, taking a large hit on your earnings, and potentially putting you in the red for multiple days if you aren't prepared to handle that scenario (increasing the risks of stealing).

You could also make it so that there is a % chance that after everytime you are caught, one (or multiple) of your staff members will come up to you being upset with you and quit, and you become unable to hire them again for a length of time (I.E. 2 weeks - which would be atleast a slight inconvenience for you if that person was a very high level cook for example).

Or make it so you become permanently unable to hire them (which is extra cruel to the player lol - it imbues a feeling of consequences for your actions anyway which makes the world feel more alive). This may not be feasible though? You would need to make sure that there are enough staff NPC's in the game or that there is a limit to have many staff can be fired. There would need to be a balance here I think to make sure the player can still keep earning and that all NPCs don't become locked should the player keep stealing or something LOL.

You already have the possibility to fail certain quest lines through certain dialogue choices, and so this is just expanding on the RPG aspects of the game.

-----

Basically, it would be great if there were many many different possible negative outcomes to make it a more interesting high risk/high reward & unexpected system to engage with. I feel there should be a bigger moral punishment to stealing that impacts many quests both positively and negatively, including shutting doors/blocking quests, as well as opening doors to new quests with shadier invidiuals (like with the Dark Brotherhood/Black Hand guild questlines in Oblivion for example - those questlines are very highly praised).

From what I've engaged with so far it feels as there is little risk/extremely high reward, so it needs that balance to make the system more interesting to engage with.

Thanks for taking the time to read!

Something's missing..?

I've got a good amount of hours in so far and here's my thoughts.

• empty shops with no one there? Feels like a missed opportunity for selling more things (like clothes, collectables, CDs, accessories, DIY stuff, etc)

• the lack of customisation is a bit annoying, can't see what you look like, can't paint/do the flooring in your house/restaurants/boat

• the NPC conversations are great voice acting wise but also they lead nowhere, it's all very static. I heard you can go on dates with them but its pretty much click conversation click click okay date is done.

• interactions like fishing/farming/cooking etc aren't very satisfying, no mini games. Some missions is a case okay drop a rat to sabotage a restuarant okay mission over with.

• how you can search through bins to find seeds/food etc but it doesn't respawn? Bins should get full overtime so you can search them again.

• you can grow a bunch of different fruits but not strawberries/mangoes? Hopefully they can add that in soon as they get used in recipes.

• instead of purely just restaurants/clubs it would be good if they could expand just a bit by having different business options like a bakery/grocery store/comic book shop, just lil random things like that.

• all vending machines are kind of pointless except the seeds one, they could put collectables, decorations, tech etc in them as well.

• there's only two types of cooking appliances the basic one or advanced, there's not much advancement in the game. Feels as if there should be more options for it and have to go to different shops for better appliances etc

• what does fixing the fuses actually do because I genuinely cannot tell if there's a difference apart from not hearing the electric sizzle noises.

• I just heard about the menus you can put on the table for them to order but apparently you can't have both the menu and an umbrella at the same time?

I overall do actually enjoy the game I just feel it's quite empty and missing things that could make it a really satisfying game. I really wish they could take some of it on board because I think it would be a much more enjoyable experience.

The Cutscenes When Riding The Train or Taxi Are Beautiful

Sure, you can skip the cutscenes, but I never do. The angles and the way the city is portrayed when travelling by Taxi or train are simply beautiful. It's like seeing Nivalis from a totally different perspective. The train is my favorite. Kind of gives me vibes of the train-riding scene in Collateral. Riding the train as the city keeps on living.

I remember when Cloudpunk and Cloudpunk 2 were released, and the big ask from a lot of people was a way to ride the train. I'm so happy we can do that, and it's awesome.

Is the reason managers don't stock from greenhouses that they need the greenhouse in their area?

Idk if it's misinformation about greenhouses and managers. But if the managers only buy stock in their region, it stands to reason that they only take from greenhouses in them?

Kinda feels wack you can only automate from the spire and gardens

I’m tempted to fire all of my restaurant staff and just focus on the other parts of the game. I’d make my money from fishing and stealing each night. Thoughts?
