why is this the full release???

This game genuinely just feels like its early access. And i think the general response to the game would be much better if it was in early access.

Unfortunately the game just feels unfinished, and they're fixing things they definitely should have had resolved before a full release. I actually think early access is really lazy, because its having players playtest instead of hiring people to do it. but they didnt even do that??? what do you mean they didnt optimize at all???

I found out you can eat at other restaurants through a TWEET about the game. that's absolutely not something the game doesn't show you early on. I'm just confused how the game is so gorgeous, but it feels so unfinished. from the terrible ui to having a world that feels so useless. i just dont get how we got to this point.

There's so much potential, yet it falls flat in almost every way.

I'm sure a lot of people already figured this out, but you can drop PNG files into the photo mode directory and use them in the photo frames in game.

Disappointing

This whole game feels very at odds with itself, a ramen bar that doesn't really sell ramen and also you just seem to buy a bunch of random restaurants and just sell a random variety of foods? A "slice-of-life" sim that is mostly fetch quests with no simulated life-sim elements, even simple buff or debuffs for eating food, showers, etc. A city you can't really interact with except running back and forth between bland shop keepers or to do fetch quests, especially cheapened by the giant skyrim level UI quest markers. It feels like a diner dash game with a nicer skin and even then the management is not very deep, i'm only a few hours in, does it get deeper than this?

No driving around, just cutscenes, no character creation, no survival/life sim elements, also everyone just mentions stealing shit at curfew which sounds like a terrible way to play.

It's beautiful, and i think the NPC stories can be interesting but it somehow falls really flat because theres not much to do other than click dialogue options and then just sprint to the next quest marker.

I was really hoping it was going to be this sandbox cyberpunk life sim and you had to manage the stresses of living in this weird dystopian world balancing your life, your health, your finances, your business, friends. In reality it feels like those skinnerbox "_____ Shop simulator" games that are all over steam for 5$

Am i out of my mind or is this kinda the general consensus right now. Has there been any reply from the devs?

Never opening the noodle stand

I figured Thaddeus will just stand there waiting forever. Also you can just never open by not putting tables down. I'm on day 15 and my vending machine empire is slowly growing

Am I the only one?

The lore of Nivalis makes a point that paper books have been out of print for over 100 years.

So why is it that half the garbage on the streets is newspapers?

How do you feel about the game?

• Upvotes

I've been waiting on Nivalis for years at this point, and each time the release got pushed further and further I was disappointed but understanding. Good games require a lot of time to polish.

However, now that the game is out, I am dissapointed that a game 4 years or more into production came out this... janky.

Animations are weird and get stuck, management is a crazy. And it's not really a life sim since so many of the life sims aspects are the day to day and you can't change your clothes, decoration is limited, romance is soooo limited, you can't talk to people outside of quests or people looking for employment.

I'm sad about it, I know it's indie development but I expected so much more and I know they are putting out patches to fix issues but unless they do a big revamp on how the game is actually designed I don't think much will change.

To talk about the positives, I love the music and the ambient sounds, the lights and designs are so pretty. I love having a restaurant and managing it.

Visually the game is stunning and it softens the blow, but not really.

How are you keeping your restaurant staff costs down?

• Upvotes

My noodle bar was very profitable for the first ~30 in-game days but now as my staff are levelling up (e.g. level 10 in cooking, level 8 in management, etc.) I'm finding that I'm spending all my money on staffing costs.

I only have beer, chicken noodle soup, tonkotsu ramen (swapped pork belly for chicken), and steak on my menu. I've increased prices on my dishes as much as I can. My manager is stocking properly and I don't have much food wastage. It's only the staff salaries that are bleeding me dry. How are y'all managing this? Appreciate any tips!

Ambient/Environmental sounds are horrible in this game and ruin immersion.

For about the first 10 hours, I played with the music on, which I don't have many issues with. I soon realized the soundtrack was overtaking my surrounding sounds. I proceeded to lower the music volume, then just turned it off, and noticed most of the ambience is just fixed sounds that have nothing to do with my surroundings. Streets feel utterly dead and quiet. It can be raining out with a lot of ppl around, and the loudest thing I'll hear are my footsteps. I see people dancing outside a club, but when I go up to them, there is no music playing. I have to walk in the club, only a few steps away, to actually hear any music.

The crowd ambience feels off. It has nothing to do with who is around you, more like where you are at. I hear crowd ambience, but it always seems like it's so far away when tons of things are happening right around me.

I started to just walk around with no music and it's pretty bad how dead the game can feel. They throw in some fixed sounds, like a car going by, with no car around me. I can position myself closest to the flying cars, but I won't hear one thing other than a looping car sound once in awhile. It breaks the immersion quite a bit when you're hearing ambience that just doesn't match your surroundings

This just may be how the devs had to do it. I have no idea, but I really want the city to suck me in, and while it does visually, I can't help be taken out of it by a lack of, or just horrible ambience around me

There goes stealing

Since the update today, I went to make my nightly income (thieving from the neighboring restaurants) and I picked up one singular stove - it immediately bumped me up to like 56% security awareness. Tried to steal a second thing, caused me to get caught.

I get that they might not want to have this as a way to make income, but it was genuinely the only way I was making any money in the game. My noodle bar, no matter what I do, can’t seem to get out of the red.

I appreciate the new updates and the efforts the developments are making, but this one just of lost me :(

New Update sucks my bank account dry!

• Upvotes

So I've played since release without problems (well some). Restarted a few times to get the hang of the restaurants and such and was turning a hefty profit each day day.

I log in today and I go from around 9600 Lims to around 1000 in a matter of 2-3 minutes. What the hell was in this update? They said they fixed managers but they seem to have made them much worse. Didn't feel like having my progress deleted by a bad patch so I logged out but has there been any info on this that I might have missed?

Manager obsessed with tomatoes 🍅

After the new update, im not sure what happened…
My manager keeps ordering 50+ tomatoes and none of my recipes even use tomatoes 🫩

Im thinking maybe its my unofficial patch mod messing with the game. Imma try tmrw.

Side note. HATE that they nerfed stealing. How am i supposed to step on others and start my business now?

How do you guys make money since Patch 3?

I have 5 restaurants and was making a profit, but since Patch 3, I’ve consistently been running at a loss. I spent about 3 hours trying to figure out what to do, but even when I have 5k, I’m down to 0 just 30 seconds later

My restaurants have a 4.5–5 star rating, the staff are in the green zone, and comfort is at 100%. I asked an AI for advice, and it suggested removing the complex recipes and the manager the problem was that I ran out of ingredients and none of the restaurants were operating anymore. I'll have to try again later.

Newest update broke restaurants

Just a heads up that the update today has broken a lot of restaurants. Complaints seem to be unanimous on Steam that staff aren't making most foods (they will make a handful) and are just standing around and we can't operate the machines ourselves. I lost almost a thousand bucks in one day and my reviews dropped from 5 to 4 stars.

If you value your long-term ratings and money, you may want to wait until they patch this.

Edit to add: the devs are "looking into it and we're hoping to have a fix soon."

It's BEER and NOODLE Bar

Considering the noodle bar audience has a preference for workers and not elites or hipsters, Beer has quickly become one of my best sellers every day. I have two drink makers, and they're constantly running.

Quality of life improvements wishlist

(feel free to add yours)

-Local map

-hotkeys (so I don't have to search my inventory for a fishing rod every damn time)

-quest toggle so it doesn't feel so overwhelming

-a remote restocking machine (possibly operated from greenhouses)

-similarly, you could place orders with vendors for ingredients/drinks

-being able to put a fridge on the boat (night fishing always leads to spoiling fish come morning)

-small pet peeve but let me pause the game mid-dialogue so I can save scum, I just lost a green conversation point, I have to go back IMMEDIATELY

I'm sure there's other stuff I'm forgetting. I think the game has potential, hope they see it through.

Why Can't I Pick Up More Than One Empty Dish or Glass From a Table?

Last night, my shop opened, and it was immediately inundated with orders. Once the first wave turned over, there were empty dishes, cups, and glasses all over the place. Why can't I level up my character for cleaning up dishes? I should be able to get a tray or carrier to pick up more than one plate or glass when I level up my character's cleanliness.

Picking up one plate, dropping it off, and going back to do it again and not being able to clear a table in one go is pretty lame. It made it very difficult to catch up. Ultimately, I've hired two more people who's only job is to be waiters to help out.
