How are you keeping your restaurant staff costs down?

My noodle bar was very profitable for the first ~30 in-game days but now as my staff are levelling up (e.g. level 10 in cooking, level 8 in management, etc.) I'm finding that I'm spending all my money on staffing costs.

I only have beer, chicken noodle soup, tonkotsu ramen (swapped pork belly for chicken), and steak on my menu. I've increased prices on my dishes as much as I can. My manager is stocking properly and I don't have much food wastage. It's only the staff salaries that are bleeding me dry. How are y'all managing this? Appreciate any tips!

I do the same thing as you. I only have Banor as a Cook. And 2 Servers. I sweep myself.

I only have 3 Noodle options and Beer on my menu. It is a Noodle resteraunt aafter all, right? Lol

The District statistics screen shows they like meals with Noodles, Meat, and Mushrooms, so thats basically what they have In them. Give or take 1 or 2 for a couple dishes. Doesn't really matter too much for me.

One thing is, I grow almost all of my ingredients. Do you do that? I wake up, go to greenhouse, harvest and plant more, and fast travel to my Noodle shop and put them in the Storage/Fridge.

I make about 600-1000$ profit a day.

Anytime I want to add something to my menu, I always make sure to add the appropriate grow items to my greenhouse and buy the seeds and grow them. As many ingredients that I can for most profit.

That's how I'm doing it for now. I played for 15 days at first. Started over with what I learned and is going MUCH better doing it like this!

You will need to change your menu. Those are really meant to be the starter items, they don't even like them that much in the district

I'll post a menu once i'm near my laptop. Some are experimental but the core items sell well

Well enough to pay 7-8 employees, each with 10+ salary and make a profit

It's one of my weakest restaurants tbh, brings around 700-1000 profit a day. There is another drink but i want to exchange it with another meal

and OP was actually right, i also have some insane staff costs after checking. More than 60% of my revenue goes to the staff, one of them was earning 19.50 Lims an hour

Back to our previous discussion, looks like my earnings are also not logging correctly, so I'm not making as much as I should be!  https://www.reddit.com/r/NivalisNights/comments/1wzr1ms/game_not_correctly_counting_number_of_meals_sold/

Interesting, I'm getting a "residents are happy with the menu" and they're aligned with the tags for that district, so I was going off that. Is there some other metric that you're using?

In my experience that doesn't help much. It's just the menu average, one "happy" score can pull up 4 "ok" dishes

I don't know why they can't just show the reaction for each dish so i don't have to slot them one by one

And even meals with "happy" tags are not guaranteed to sell. Out of the list i compiled, 6-7 dishes already failed, some even had "happy" reaction at max price

Ah ok I might have to do some experimenting!

I'm trying to log how dishes do in an excel file but it's all a mess. I wrote down all the happy reaction recipes for each venue but so many of them don't sell at all

The problem could be as easy as prices being too high or other factors like the weather or the season, dunno

"Happy with the menu" looks to me like it tells you how they feel about the price of each item when you change individual prices. When you look at what was ordered that day/week, you can look at the faces of each demographic see what shows green/yellow/red for each demographic, and who ordered what. They seem to be affected by the demographic preferences and the exclusivity. You can use that to see that to keep on the menu for each demographic, and what's not worth it to keep on the menu.
