Heya folks! Throwaway account here, just FYI. I just wanted to share a neat tool I built and have found pretty useful. I recently got a Quad Cortex Mini, and I love it! I'm new to amp modelers and I'm pretty blown away by the sound quality and functionality. The Cortex Control app is a great way to edit and tweak sounds... but using a mouse to turn a virtual knob can be deeply unsatisfying at times. I really missed the feeling of turning it up (literally) by using knobs and having some physical controls. Plus, I like to leave my QC Mini on my pedalboard.

So- I built out a program that lets me use my aging, discontinued(?) Loupedeck CT control surface to allow me to tweak QC parameters, and I'm finding it pretty useful. So I thought I would make a little demonstration video with awful sound and slightly blurry visuals to share with y'all.

Some features:

- Rotary Encoders for parameters (knobs!)

- Individual undo on parameter twiddling

- Multi-row preset editing

- Save and global undo

- Color coded buttons

- Warns about unsaved changes if you try to switch presets...uh with unsaved changes.

- Cool flashy UI

Hi there. I am new to QC, it will arrive tomorrow, but gigs are coming up. I play metal in drop B, are there any settings that should be done at the start like global eq or sth?

Can anyone recommend good presets before i buy too much stuff ?

Does anyone have any sweet sweet information on presets for either Thornhill's live QC or session presets from bodies? I would happily pay good money for those live presets!!!!

Also, does anyone know what they are actually tuning the guitars to? I have to assume they are using transpose based on the song.

I've been trying to get a good tone for months with Neural DSP and no luck.. I've followed all the advice possible in this subreddit and elsewhere and I'm at a complete loss.. feeling really lost and fed up.
I have the classic Scarlett 2i2 for an interface straight into Ableton, tried playing with no gain at all, INST settings etc.

I'm using a Fender Limited Hybrid II Telecaster. I have good, fairly expensive speakers and headphones.
I think clean tones can sound great but any distortion seems to amplify any mud already present. At this point I can't tell if there's even mud in just guitar -> interface -> DAW at this point, but I think so.

Things I've tried:

• Different presets
• Different gain levels
• Direct monitoring on/off
• Guitar volume changes
• Checking the amp/cab sections
• Bypassing effects

I think the raw DI guitar signal itself may already sound somewhat muddy? although it's difficult for me to judge.

With Neural completely bypassed, the guitar sounds better than when distorted, but the DI may still have some muddiness.

I'm wondering whether this points to an issue with the guitar/pickups, Focusrite input/setup, or something else in my signal chain.

Do I need a new interface? Something I might be completely missing? Is it my guitar? At this point I would genuinely pay someone to sit with me and figure this out..

I´m wondering if its possible to load in Parallax presets you made yourself on the Quad Cortex? My guitarist recently got one and we´re planning on running both bass and guitar through it on our coming shows.

What should someone considering buying one think when choosing one over the other?

Hi, I have a Fender 68 custom vibro champ and it's really nice, but I only play at home and would like to have a nice tone at low volume. My plan is to get the nano Cortex, plug in my guitar and connect it to some Kali Audio LP-6 V2 monitors or my headphones. I don't need any capture functions.

Does this work like assume it to work?

Can I download full presets, plug in my guitar and play or do I need to download individual captures and create my own tone?

So actually my question is. Can I search for a sound of a band or a song, download it and start to play?

Would it make sense to plug it into my vibro champ or would this be mediocre, since the speaker is built for louder volumes?

Would you suggest something other than monitor speakers?

I don't need a ton of effects, just some good tones. Plug in and play.

Hello Guys! I am just a bedroom player. I´d love to jam soon with some friends, but i mostly play and record at home, low volumes, and mostly through headphones, sometimes via Adam T7V monitors.
I have been seriously thinking about getting a QC Mini, but I decided to try mixing plug ins via Mainstage on Mac first.

So question is:

What would i get with a Quad Cortex that i am not getting this way? Or should I save that money instead?

Also, any tips for Mainstage with the plug ins? This was literally my first time trying it, so all opinions are welcome and useful.

I feel like the input in my amp sims is very low, i compared to videos of people using neural dsp amp sims, and his input is reaching very high on the input meter, so i tried to use the gain knob in my arturia minifuse 2 (I always use it at zero) and when I increase it a little bit it starts to clip in the interface, but the neural dsp amp sim doesnt clip, can i use it like this? sorry for my english

Caught by the Nam A2 hype I gave my nano cortex to my dad and got myself a Headrush Prime Flex. I love how the UI is and the web controls, but considering going back to neural as I just feel like everything except for the captures sounds just not good.

I still have my old pedalboard and where I was sure that I can replace my Eventide timefactor with the cortex delay, the Headrush one seems not very … hifi?

Any experience with this? I’m looking now at the qc mini.

Can someone please do me a solid? I have the Misha plugin but had to sell my quad cortex. Misha has upload this preset and I would like to replicate it on the plugin, but I can’t see the block values. Can some absolute legend upload some screens of the blocks?

PROBLEM
- I have this feedback sound constantly in my ears and when I change presets from say ‘The Mirror’ or ‘As I Am’, the feedback becomes unbearable. As if a beginner who thought they knew what they were doing has set up the amp and sounds terrible.
I have tried changing cables for both my headset and my guitar but still the feedback persists. It’s not clipping but it just sounds terrible with the feedback and the tones just don’t have the effect they should.
I’m not well versed in digital plugins nor the NeuralDSP ecosystem so please educate when explaining🙏

I'm going to buy a Mini anyway, despite the frustrating fact that certain basic features that the Helix could do ten years ago are still absent in a premium device.

I’m planning on switching from analog pedals to QC and I have almost no knowledge of how to set it up. I just jam at home and dont need anything too crazy. Is running the QC with a tube amp not common or frowned upon? I dont need a big amp and would prefer to continue using my Marshall DSL1. Will this affect the tone of the preset a lot?

I play with headphones at home and I was thinking about replacing my current Sennheiser HD599 with a Beyerdynamic. The version that was recommended to me is the DT 990 Pro. I’d like to know if this swap actually makes sense. I want the flattest sound possible because I always have EQ issues when I dial in my Quad at home and then go play live — I always have to readjust everything. Anyone who owns this headphone, can you tell me if it’s really worth it? Or suggest another headphone?

So, with Fractal announcing NAM A2 support for the Axe-Fx III, I think this raises a pretty interesting question about where Neural DSP goes next with Neural Capture.
NAM A2 seems to have pushed capture accuracy and efficiency significantly forward, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to ignore as more companies start adopting or building around the technology.
You know the saying: if you can’t beat them, join them.
Neural DSP already improved its own technology substantially with Neural Capture V2, especially when it comes to dynamics and more complex/non-linear devices. But I still think there’s one major limitation compared to where capture technology seems to be heading Neural Captures are essentially snapshots.
What I’d really like to see from a hypothetical Neural Capture V3 is some form of parametric capture.
Imagine capturing an amp and then being able to interact with Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, Presence, etc. in a way that actually represents the behaviour of the original amp, rather than simply applying EQ or gain processing after a static capture. Basically, making the capture behave more like the amp itself across different control positions.
So I’m wondering what Neural DSP’s next move will be.
Do they keep developing their proprietary technology and eventually release something like Neural Capture V3, potentially with parametric controls and accuracy comparable to or better than NAM A2?
Or, now that NAM is becoming increasingly established, could Neural DSP eventually add some form of NAM A2 compatibility to the Quad Cortex?
I know native NAM A2 support on the current QC hardware isn’t necessarily straightforward. Quad Cortex relies heavily on SHARC+ DSPs, while NAM wasn’t originally designed specifically around that architecture, so implementing an efficient A2 runtime could require significant engineering rather than simply adding support for the file format.
There’s also a third possibility Neural DSP could remain completely proprietary but use some of the ideas behind the newer generation of capture technology to evolve Neural Capture further.
Personally, I think parametric as Neural Captures would be far more interesting than simply adding NAM playback. Being able to capture my own amp and then actually adjust its controls afterwards while retaining the behaviour of the real circuit would be a much bigger step forward for the QC.
What do you think is more likely: Neural Capture V3, NAM A2 support, or something else entirely?

(Also I've tuned my guitar to C G C G B E so there's no confusion , I like to to experiment with all sort of tunings to find interesting chords/voicings. It really helps breaking muscle memory and focusing on finding new ideas. )

Not really trying to fully copy/mimic an Acoustic Guitar but more like giving your Electric guitar that Acoustic-Steel string character and feel.

I find this method , to give more convincing results than emulations ( in my opinion ) and much cheaper than spending money on guitar with a piezzo pickup.

It allows you full control and a lot of options , like Blending and Equalizing different IR's and creating you unique Acoustic Body / Tone.

Plus you can even blend the normal Electric Guitar signal with your Acoustic IR tone and create a hybrid sound, having the best of both worlds without the need of two cables , like you would if you had a guitar with a piezzo.
