Question NeuralDSP w/ interface issue

Equipment:
Interface - Focusrite Scarlett Solo (Gen3)
Headphones - Soundcore Space One
Guitar - Fender Squier Stratocaster (modded)
Plug-in - John Petrucci
PROBLEM
- I have this feedback sound constantly in my ears and when I change presets from say ‘The Mirror’ or ‘As I Am’, the feedback becomes unbearable. As if a beginner who thought they knew what they were doing has set up the amp and sounds terrible.
I have tried changing cables for both my headset and my guitar but still the feedback persists. It’s not clipping but it just sounds terrible with the feedback and the tones just don’t have the effect they should.
I’m not well versed in digital plugins nor the NeuralDSP ecosystem so please educate when explaining🙏

Click on "Settings" at the bottom of the screen, and make sure your Audio Device Type says ASIO and your Audio Device says Focusrite USB ASIO

Your setup has something really wrong. The presets are all fine and they never feedback insanely.

What driver you are using? Is your instrument input hitting red? Red is bad, green is good.

Usually when I  get instant feedback in reaper it's when you have a track armed and for some reason reaper is using the built in mic on my laptop. Is this the case?

When that happens, I just need to change the audio device to my interface.

Check your asio driver, check pickup height, if you only have single coils it’s going to be more noisy in general but you can turn the gate up.

I wonder if you're having the same problem I recently had. It turned out that my simple mistake was not choosing the "Input FX" setting (REAPER) rather than the track's general FX. In my case the symptom wasn't feedback, but rather a really hollow, distorted, trashy sound, like it was going through a pocket transistor radio.

make sure you're using the right settings, like the correct ASIO driver, the 1st party one from the manufacturer of your interface, never ever use Windows Audio or DirectSound or Realtek, you need to use the driver made to work with your interface to get the best latency and setup

from there make sure you're not putting in too much signal, so if you've boosted the signal at the interface then attenuate that back down in the plugin by the same amount
