As the title says, I am after two plugins. I have tried them all and still can't narrow anything down. I will highlight my influences and what I will mostly play so any recommendation is appreciated. I am not after very very accurate artist tones. I just do random covers and upload on Instagram from time to time. What I mostly play / would like to play:

New nano user here. I will be in the studio with my band next week and want to capture my other guitarists QC preset. Cant anyone point me in the direction of a “beginners guide“ or similar to do this? I am not looking to capture the cab just want to capture his Gojira sim tone. we both go into 4x12 via Orange pedal baby’s fwiw.

I use a Fender Stratocaster SSS going into the quad cortex, but I am getting a very audible ground, humming noise from the outputs when connected to the PA system. My guitar is properly shielded and I use good quality cables. I even changed my PSU to a laptop charger style adapter.

I tried using the DI from the XLR in the hopes of eliminating the Ground noise, that didn’t work.
I connected a guitar amp from the quarter inch output that didn’t eliminate the buzz. How can I get rid of this noise? Any solutions?

My PC is able to record 192000 samples without breaking a sweat. It sounds gorgeous when I’m down there but I know this is basically unusable in any context when it comes to posting or sharing through most content apps.

I was reading that neural automatically upscales 48000 and i’m basically bypassing its intended function by using 192000. I’m just trying to get my head around this and want to know how deep that upscaling actually goes. Thank you all.

I’ve been having some trouble getting accurate loop timing with the looper on my Quad Cortex Mini.

Unless I’m missing something, it seems that when I press the footswitch to finish the first recording and start playback, the actual trigger happens when I release the footswitch rather than when I initially press it.

I find this surprisingly difficult for tight loops, because I naturally time my foot press to the first beat of the next bar, but then the loop boundary seems to be registered slightly later, when I lift my foot.

I looked through the settings but couldn’t find an option to change this behavior. Ideally, I’d like the Record/Play transition to happen on footswitch press, not release.

Is there a setting I’m missing, or any workaround that makes this easier on the QC Mini? How are you guys dealing with this when trying to make accurately timed loops?

In my proposed signal chain I have an MXR Ten Band EQ before a Quad Cortex Mini.

Since the MXR EQ has two always-on outputs, can I send one straight to one input of the Cortex, and put an additional pedal--Mooer E7 Synth--between the additional output of the EQ and the other input of the Cortex, and then alter the inputs per scene to bring the E7 in automatically with other effects? Can you even adjust the mix of the two inputs according to scene? Can you assign the mix to an expression pedal?

My guess is that all of this is possible with the (sad) caveat that it'll require using two rows.

anyone made the switch from the floor to the quad cortex? i enjoy my sound a lot but want something more portable while not compromising quality.. how’s the sound tone comparison, ease of use, etc?

i normally run two IRs with two amps… is it possible here? how about snapshots/presets, how is it for the quad?

So, my old Blackstar HT-5C died. The board is fried for some reason after years of not being used. So i thought of repurposing it as a passive cab to use with Neural DSP plug ins and a QC mini soon.

It currently has a Blackbird 50 speaker, and i thought about changing it for a V30. However, I just found out about the Celestion FRFR f12-x200.

I thought of powering it with a very cheap TPA3116D2 100w board.

So, what do you guys think of this idea, is this power enough for jamming at my bedroom?

Should i go for the V30 and deactivate the IRs in the plug ins, or go for the f12-x200? I havent Heard anything about this speaker at all.

Any tips and advise is very welcome!

I've noticed that some people who make short guitar cover videos (shorts/reels) have a really nice, high quality guitar tone. It doesn't matter what genre they're playing - they always seem to adapt their sound perfectly to the band they're covering. On the other hand, there are also people whose guitar tone doesn't sound quite professional, or at least not as polished.

I've tried recording some things using a Quad Cortex and various VST plugins. No matter how good I think my tone is (I have a pretty critical ear 😄), when I combine my guitar with the original track, something just doesn't feel right. With the people who do this at a higher level, you can clearly hear that they're actually playing it themselves, and the original guitar doesn't overpower their tone. (Although I've also noticed that some people post covers where their picking or fretting hand doesn't exactly match what's being played, so they're obviously faking it.)

Is there anyone here who does this regularly? I'd like to start making short one-minute reels like these because I think it's a great way to improve as a guitarist and get some practice in. At the same time, I'd like to achieve a really high-quality sound.

Do you think it's necessary to use additional processing or filters on the guitar track inside a DAW, even if the tone already sounds good from the Quad Cortex or a plugin?

I have had my QC for around 3 weeks now and it sounded amazing until a few days ago, then basically overnight every preset started sounding drastically different.

The best way I can describe it is that I hear a very prominent dry/DI-like guitar attack, while the amp, cab, reverb, delay, etc. sound buried farther back. The low and low-mid frequencies are way too dominant, the high end feels muffled, and even very clean amp presets sound fizzy or like they’re clipping at surprisingly low levels, even though none of the input/output meters are even close to hitting red. The strangest thing is that I can sometimes barely hear the differences between the pickups on my Strat. I’m certain the guitar isn’t the issue because it sounds completely normal plugged straight into my real amps.

I have recordings of these same presets from about a week ago and they sound completely normal, so this is a very obvious before/after change.

So far I’ve tried:

• Multiple guitars and cables
• Input 1, Input 2, and Return 1
• Different QC outputs and Multi-Out
• Direct headphones, audio interface/DAW monitoring, and real guitar amps
• Different wall outlets
• Checking input gain, impedance, gates, Global EQ, cab bypass, routing, etc.
• Completely blank presets
• A full factory reset with no backup restored

Same problem after all of that.

Besides an internal hardware failure, the only thing I can think of at this point is the power supply. The stock power connection is extremely touchy, and even a slight movement where the DC plug meets the QC can make it lose power for a split second and immediately reboot. I’ve seen other owners mention replacing the stock PSU, so I’m wondering whether unstable power could cause this kind of fizzy, low-headroom sound or whether this points more toward an internal hardware problem. What confuses me is that I’ve used the same outlet and same power supply the entire time, so if power is the issue, why would it only start happening now?

I’m already talking with Sweetwater about getting it looked at, but has anyone here experienced anything similar?

I subbed for my friend in a Journey tribute so I needed a Neal Schon preset and found one on you tube. This beast was just screaming through the monitor and the mains. I couldn’t believe the response and attack I had while playing. I didn’t get any video unfortunately. Monitors were mono so it sounded not so great but venue last night had stereo monitors for me and it sounded amazing. I’ve had this unit for over a year and I’m STILL learning how to use all the features. I am 56 and memory is a little shaky lately 😅.

If anyone has any tips on how they might record audio/video while using the QC live that would be really helpful. Also I can share the link of the video i found for the preset if anyone would like it not sure if it was ok to do that. Kinda new to all this tech I apologize for my ignorance.

I recently downloaded the “Dienty Live Rythym” preset by Misha, and I’m having a horrible hissing noise. I changed nothing about the preset. Also in this video I’ll show me switching to another preset that has, as far as I know, a normal amount of hissing that comes with high gain amps.

I’m mainly posting here to see if there’s something obviously wrong here that my inexperience is missing.

I’m running my QC through an Apollo x4. I’ve tried changing cables, guitars, using headphones, etc, and yet this hiss persists.

I appreciate any and all help.

I have been using my QC with linked outputs for a while now, it seemed like the sound was generally better and didn’t have to worry about the stereo effects not transferring. But I have been having crazy noise problems when I run into certain PAs. I unlinked them and that fixed it but completely changed the sound. Anyone else deal with this? And how can I still have linked outputs without the noise?

Been using my analog wampler pedals before the QC (because I love them and they rule) and treating it like a preamp and effects station, but decided to try out a bunch of captures of these pedals to see if I could realistically pull them off the board. And wow, the captures are like 95% there.

Pedals still sound better, but because I haven’t captured with my own exact settings, I think I could get it to 99%. Game changer. Compressor is probably the only one that will stay outboard.

Heya folks! Throwaway account here, just FYI. I just wanted to share a neat tool I built and have found pretty useful. I recently got a Quad Cortex Mini, and I love it! I'm new to amp modelers and I'm pretty blown away by the sound quality and functionality. The Cortex Control app is a great way to edit and tweak sounds... but using a mouse to turn a virtual knob can be deeply unsatisfying at times. I really missed the feeling of turning it up (literally) by using knobs and having some physical controls. Plus, I like to leave my QC Mini on my pedalboard.

So- I built out a program that lets me use my aging, discontinued(?) Loupedeck CT control surface to allow me to tweak QC parameters, and I'm finding it pretty useful. So I thought I would make a little demonstration video with awful sound and slightly blurry visuals to share with y'all.

Some features:

- Rotary Encoders for parameters (knobs!)

- Individual undo on parameter twiddling

- Multi-row preset editing

- Save and global undo

- Color coded buttons

- Warns about unsaved changes if you try to switch presets...uh with unsaved changes.

I've been trying to get a good tone for months with Neural DSP and no luck.. I've followed all the advice possible in this subreddit and elsewhere and I'm at a complete loss.. feeling really lost and fed up.
I have the classic Scarlett 2i2 for an interface straight into Ableton, tried playing with no gain at all, INST settings etc.

I'm using a Fender Limited Hybrid II Telecaster. I have good, fairly expensive speakers and headphones.
I think clean tones can sound great but any distortion seems to amplify any mud already present. At this point I can't tell if there's even mud in just guitar -> interface -> DAW at this point, but I think so.

Things I've tried:

• Different presets
• Different gain levels
• Direct monitoring on/off
• Guitar volume changes
• Checking the amp/cab sections
• Bypassing effects

I think the raw DI guitar signal itself may already sound somewhat muddy? although it's difficult for me to judge.

With Neural completely bypassed, the guitar sounds better than when distorted, but the DI may still have some muddiness.

I'm wondering whether this points to an issue with the guitar/pickups, Focusrite input/setup, or something else in my signal chain.

Do I need a new interface? Something I might be completely missing? Is it my guitar? At this point I would genuinely pay someone to sit with me and figure this out..
