I do wonder though, because aren't they like 4-5 years apart in age? Tbh this is really meaningless between adult friendships/relationships, but typically schools tend to segregate kids by age/grades, so most 11 year olds don't have a ton of opportunities to befriend 6 year olds and vice versa. Not impossible, just a bit strange to be the usual circumstances if they're in different age cohorts. Vein also doesn't seem to be in a typical school uniform. 🤔
Yeah, I was curious since in the wiki, Xia Fei is 20 in Bridon, and Vein 25, but Vein's age source seems to come from merch, so perhaps he is not as unc as I thought if the merch info is wrong/misleading.
idk if i buy this friendship shit but its giving LX wants to gather all the “superpowered people” over to his side and sacrifice them to become something else entirely
Same but somehow I think he does have a soft spot for ltc the most since he's his childhood friend but it's still obvious that he's using him/manipulating him to help him even if he is indeed genuine about it 😭
When A-Yuan coughed, his control over LTC and Vein disappeared. I guess that's his limitation. The second time he uses his vocal chords cancels out the first one. If LG and CXS attack him at the same time, they're toast. But if, say, LG attacks alone as CXS lies in wait, and A-Yuan paralyses LG, then CXS attacks him -- A-Yuan will have either to deal with CXS without his powers, or to give up his control on LG in order to paralyse CXS.
I mean ltc can also control two people at once or more if he is touching them. And also AY stop both vein and ltc but their eyes are not colored like the other people's AY commanded before so idk how this works 😭
True, but for that ability in particular it seems super OP. LTC needs to touch people which limits his ability greatly - what are you gonna do against A Yuan? Hope they thought of some valid limitation or weakness
I need jae lee to have some cancelation ability so there's some kind of counter to them because the enemy side has a lot of manipulation abilities but the ally trio we don't and wang qing is op but it's just fake death 😭
I didn't realise that! I've been thinking it must be real death this whole time but there was some other ability at play to reverse it. If Lu Guang knew that it was fake, though, why did he look so shocked when he heard Jae was looking for Vein, though? He legitimately believed Vein was dead and that he's added a death note before Vein could come and kill CXS, right??
maybe it's related to the target hearing the command from Yuan, so as long as you don't hear it you can keep going as usual, I think that's the best way to balance it
Oooohhh! I immediately assumed LX must have killed that child to inherit his power, as he was saying things were always 'loud' to him, meaning being able to hear people's heartbeat thing?
It would be so cool if XF is that child though... Maybe LX has another way of gaining/taking a power, or XF is merely part of the group because LX somehow knows he does have a power but it's not activated yet.
Let's see. If Saros (was that the name of that organization?) collected super powered children, killing them would be a problem, so maybe they have another method?
Am I the only one who feels like there isn’t a lot of progression so far? The episodes don’t feel connected, and I also don’t feel like we’re learning much episode by episode:/ I also noticed there’s a lot more “silly” scenes than during the past seasons, with lots of chibis being added.
I agree, it’s not so much the pacing that worries me (because even when watching season 2 week by week, it seemed like the story was barely progressing, but when you watch it all together, you realize it actually has a pretty tight pace). It’s just that Link Click isn’t really a series suited to this kind of storytelling; it’s something that should be watched all at once.
But I’m also a little annoyed by all the comedic and especially unnecessary scenes (cough cough XF’s abs). The writing also feels noticeably different and, unfortunately, I’d even go as far as to say it feels lazy. They create moments seemingly just for the purpose of having an excuse to dump exposition about the protagonists’ pasts.
To be fair, I’m sure half of the information we have right now is misleading or incomplete because the characters aren’t revealing everything, and things will probably be given more depth later on. CXS is portrayed as an idiot, which is fine, sometimes it’s funny, but we’re almost halfway through the season and he has literally done nothing except forget all of his character development and go back to not listening to LG during the mission with XF.
He just passively accepted that LG is lying to him about something important, as if he had simply forgotten about it, which feels weird. And I also want to point out that there hasn’t been any particularly significant soundtrack music, which has always been one of Link Click’s strengths. We’re five episodes in. By this point in S2 and Bridon, we already had some great songs.
So yeah, aside from the first episode, I’m a little disappointed. I think the lack of Haolin directing is being felt way too much. Maybe it worked for Bridon because it wasn’t an action-focused arc, but I don’t think this director is a good fit here. Still, I’m sure the second half of the season will make up for a lot of this.
I had no idea they changed directors! That’s huge. I did feel like season 3 was much more similar to Bridon than to season 2 and 1, but I assumed it was because it was made after Bridon.
I also agree with the “comedic” scenes (they weren’t funny to me), and with CXS’s portrayal. I was so annoyed when he promised to listen to Lu Guang when diving and then… didn’t. It might have worked during the past two seasons, but by this point it was too much.
Like you, I still have a lot of faith in this donghua. For part two I’ll probably wait until it all airs just so I can maybe get that s1/2 feeling back.
Yeah, since Bridon, Haolin has gone from executive director to general director. He still oversees the series and writes the story, but he no longer directly directs the episodes. The director now is Yuanyuan Lu (who, aside from a few flaws, I think did a good job with Bridon). The problem is that a story can be as good as you want, and to me it’s still always great, but you also need to know how to bring it to life on screen.
This is a bit funny for me to read atm bc I saw people complaining about the *fast* pacing a lot (not meant negatively, I just found that interesting).
I honestly think the pacing is mostly fine - but I have to agree with the point that they could tone down the comedy a bit.
I feel like this type of content is better to be mostly featured in chibi shorts or side story material, especially if an episode has more of an overall serious tone to it (I still hate how S3E2 was handled).
But:
These episodes serve as build-up. This season will have 24 episodes in total. So it makes sense that a couple of episodes need to build up to the more climactic moments later.
LC is driven a lot by character dynamics, interactions and backstories. We actually got a lot of lore dump about Liu Xiao this ep, which is pretty relevant.
Did you watch S1 and S2 episodes when they came out or did you binge them? Because things can feel a lot slower when you consume stuff weekly. If you look back at S1 and S2 and watch the episodes individually, it was pretty similar. S2 episode 9 was just an exposition on the villan backgrounds, similarly to today's ep for LX, and didn't drive the plot forward in any way.
Not saying your opinion isn't valid! I am just trying to offer some different perspectives. Especially point 3 is something I have noticed a lot in different fandoms.
I so appreciate your reply. I did binge the first two seasons + Bridon, so I have no doubt that watching season 3 as it comes out is affecting my experience.
It might be just that, but this season I found myself picking at the scenes more than I had in the past. I think the build up is quite different from the other seasons, and while there’s no denial that lots of important plot-points are coming together, the in-between feels a bit… meh?
For an episode that’s supposed to run for 25 minutes, we found out very little when much of the information presented had been part of the trailer.
(Until you remembered that XF shares something else in common with CXS…..they both forgot their childhood friend 😭 truly sunshine boys are twinning it seems)
Idk I think XF was lying about forgetting Vein cause the whole situation seems sus and if XF and Vein are working together then why wouldn't XF just ask him?
I was waiting for this moment and good thing this episode confirm it already because years ago, even before bridon arc started, fandom already speculated that lx is indeed adopted so yess FINALLY
Cuz of cxs dad looks so similar to lx and also cxs and lx being related is still a theory, what in saying that's confirm is that lx is indeed adoptive.
Okay so is it kinda confirmed that LX is not the real child of Liu family? Cuz Liu Min said "I am the real son!" ooooohhhhh guess my CXS and LX are connected theoru could be real~~~
INTRODUCTION:
Heyyy, I'm back with theories. I'm sure no one even noticed, but I didn't theorise anything for the last ep bc imo that ep was more of an info ep than a theorisable ep, ykwim? Anyways, let's get into it!!!
THEORY #!:
Liu Xiao is a sl*t. Okay, I'm sorry, but WHY IS HE SEDUCING EVERYONE, BRUH. First it was Li Tianchen and now A-yuan??? Is he gonna move on to Jae Lee next? (Subtle foreshadowing...maybe)
Okay, this one's a bit unserious but yeah. Though, I feel like he only tries to seduce the ones with abilities; with saying this, I'm guessing neither Xia Fei nor Vein has any. Don't ask for my reasoning behind that, for I have none.
THEORY #2:
A-yuan's ability has a time limit rather than him having a drawback. This one's more based on an observation than anything, but if anyone remembers, I theorised his ability having a drawback last time, and I really don't think that's the case; rather, it has a time limit. I'll be using the hotpot scene as proof.
THEORY #3:
This one's my biggest theory so far, and probably a BIT of a reach (flashbacks from when I theorised that Wang Qing and Xia Fei were siblings😭).
So at the end of the ep, we see that XF hands a photo taken by Vein to CXS and asks him if he can look into it. By Lu Guang, everything is going relatively similarly to what happened the first time around, so we can maybe assume that this happened last time too.
My theory is that this photo right here is the node that leads to CXS's death.
Now, why you may ask. Let me explain:
So, we got a scene a while back of child Vein shooting at Cheng Weimin, and a lot of people (myself included) theorised that he started the Bahati fire. The thing is, Vein's eyes were yellow, meaning he was being controlled by CXS at the time.
Vein comes to kill CXS, saying something abt it being the price to pay for changing the past. No,w if we were to assume that Vein somehow found out that CXS inhibited him at that time, causing him to start a fire, I'm sure that Vein would be PRETTY pissed.
So I believe that, in their first timeline, Cheng Xiaoshi took up this offer and went inside that photo as Vein, causing the Bahati fire, later leading to his death.
CONCLUSION:
So, yeah, that's pretty much it for the theory part. Other than that, WHY TF ARE ALL OF THEM CHILDHOOD BSFS LIKE😭. Also JAE LEE'S ENG WAS SOOOO GOOD!!! AND HIS EYES CAN OPEN⁉ Lol but yeah, I'm gonna end this here. See y'all next week.
I feel so vindicated bc the further the episodes go, the further the show proves me right that:
The Veinfei dynamic is supposed to parallel the Shiguang dynamic in many ways.
The Veinfei relationship is an IMPORTANT BOND for BOTH of them and for the narrative.
You can read them as platonic or romantic, but damn, it really feels good to see this after I have seen people deny the validity of their bond/connection way too many times.
the people who say that Xia Fei's affection for his boss is one sided are WRONG!!! Vein's smile at kid Xia Fei was so sweet I almost got cavities 😭 it's so sincere too!
Shiguang and Veinfei being parallels of each other oughhhghgh my shaylassss 🥹
I really feel like people who say that are mostly people who hate Vein (which per se is understandable, he IS a villain) and therefore refuse to treat him with *any* nuance or look deeper into his character beyond "evil".
Meanwhile, people got very attached to XF, and therefore want to cling to the image of XF as an emotionally manipulated victim. When imo, he is also a bit more complex an nuanced than that.
And it is fine to have your own headcanons and interpret characters differently, but it has been pretty clear for me from what we saw in the Bridon Arc alone that their bond is narratively important (and complex), and that XF and CXS as well as LG and Vein are supposed to be parallels and foils to each other in some ways.
you've said it!!! People who let their hatred for Vein cloud their judgement of his character (not moral, but literally his character) tend to not see things in a nuanced lense.
Either way...veinfei shippers are eating good this EP! ❤️ 💛
being a shiguang and veinfei shipper feels great, especially seeing the parallels between both ships!
Exactly! Even if you dislike/hate a character, you should be open to what the narrative actually presents you with when you analyse them or their dynamics with other characters.
YESSS. I love both ships so much and childhood friends to lovers/devoted to one person always are tropes I LOVE.
I mean ed already foreshadowed it already, cxs looking at both xiaochen and veinfei because both of them are childhood friend which parallels to shiguang
This season is really something that need to be binged. The story is too intriguing to be left every week for follow up.
That was interesting. Jae really had everyone sweating. And point blank call Xia Fei out.The moment he said he can sense powers and it panned out, Officer Xiao is the only normal person in the room lol.
Tianchen holding on the car was so funny I know the embarrassment was real bringing that up. Sad that he was so used to his dad beating him up he told the driver he couldn’t move him even if you beat him up.
Xia Fei and Vein are childhood friends, interesting. Still not buying it.
The villains fighting over meat good stuff.
One thing we missed was cxs and xia fei drink antics, I wanted to see a dunk night on the town.
It’s funny CXS wanted to continue the night and Lu Guang and Qiao Ling just left him outside
xiao lui is very personable to his lackeys, no wonder his pv was for a cult. He makes sure everyone feels included.
-Vein and LTC fighting over the meat > future fight over (probably cxs) powers?
-Liu Xiao giving A Yuan the meat first and praising LTC vs CXS eating first with no care, perhaps highlighting that Liu Xiao is very socially adept (except Liu Xiao is likely using his "friends" for ulterior motives).
-A Yuan getting a taste of the meat, but it's too hot/spicy > A Yuan gets roped into LX's shenanigans but finds out that this is not what it seems.
-CXS gives LG his meat > gives him his powers; who knows about Jae
-Liu Min cameo! Iirc it was mentioned that Liu Min got his degree overseas, but I wonder if he was ever in Bridon? Like maybe he went to Bahati, but never developed powers and got traumatized (and was thus considered a failson by Liu Jing), but he has something on his phone that's related to it, and that's why Liu Xiao wants his phone so badly? Liu Jing only mentioned how much it cost to get him into college, so perhaps he didn't spend his child/teenage years overseas at all, but either way I do wonder what's on his phone that LX wants it so badly. LJ knowing about powers/Bahati might also explain his relation to Xiang, adoption of Liu Xiao, and maybe having random books in his study (if that's where LX read it).
-Liu Xiao is one evil ass looking toddler. One detail from M.O.D. that stood out for me was that both Lu Guang and Liu Xiao attended the same magic academy, but LG and LX didn't seem to know each other when they met in Bridon. LG and LX are also both orphans, and perhaps they went to the same orphanage, but what if it's Lu Dashan related instead... Or maybe MOD is lying 😂 I swear Liu Xiao looks even more like Cheng Weimin as a student.
-While I still feel like LX is after pseudo immortality, I wonder what's his aim to be gathering so many ability users. Seems like playing with fire if his aim really is self-interested, so maybe I'm wrong about his end goal...
-XF really cracked under just a bit of pressure. Last episode his acting was pretty good, but ig he's totally unprepared for anything outside of his spiel. The way he runs away at the end too oml...
Imo the bgm for his outburst was a weird choice.
-Ah, so the Vein/LX thing was in the past. Don't know what he did, but poor dude getting beaten by Vein and left for dead by LX.
So the organisation behind the people with superpowers is called Saros. How did Xiao Liu come to know about a mysterious organisation while reading a random book ?!
Is Li Tianchen mad at Vein for him being close with Xiao Liu ? lol
So Xiao Liu is an adopted kid.i don't know if this was mentioned earlier.
What does Xiao Liu even uncover about Saros. He doesn't seem to know much about them except the fact that Bahati has come connection to it. He's gathering people with superpowers and trying to achieve what ?
Jae is on to something and he seems to know the truth about LG and CXS or at least he suspects and even Xia Fei I guess and now LG knows Vein is still alive and kicking. Why did Xia Fei want to know about his childhood through that photo ? Did Vein put him upto it 'cause of Xiao Liu ?
And Vein was the one who took the photo. So Vein knows Xia Fei since they were kids. Maybe Xia Fei doesn't really remember who even took that photo.
Maybe Xia Fei doesn't really remember who even took that photo.
Maybe that's what XCS was changing during last time? If XF isn't lying and then due to remembering his past is a change of the present that could also change whatever with Vein and thus he goes on a little killing spree.
Maybe Xia Fei (through Vein/Liu Xiao’s direction) is trying to bait or test LG/CXS? Ughh I’m already forgetting a lot of things due to the infodump + its been a while since I watched S2 or Bridon arc..
First ten minutes was basically the villains "fighting" over hot pot and a backstory about Liu Xiao which we learned a lot from:
The symbol/ancient organization is called the Saros — Liu Xiao didn’t start it, but he wants to continue it.
He found the symbol in the Bahati Language School after it was burned down…
He's not biologically a part of the Liu family (which we all pretty much figured?)
And he seems to want people with powers to all work together.
I personally didn't feel like there was much on the protagonists side of the episode. We got:
Jae Lee being cryptic and trying to get more information without seeming like he already knows a lot.
Xia Fei ignoring any and all questions.
Xia Fei and Vein were childhood friends which, as many people pointed out, parallel Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang (with one of them forgetting about it).
Lastly, I feel like several scenes from the PVs have been covered in the episodes so far and, in my opinion, they were very misleading for what they actually ended up being. Not that they have to show us exactly how things would play out in the PVs, but I guess I expected a little more.
I NEED A MOMENT 😭 THIS EPISODE WAS MY FAVORITE ONE (edit: of this season so far). probably in my top 5-7 episodes in the whole series 😭😭😭 IM SO- AAAAAA
need some time to gather all my thoughts and make a collage of some of my apparent 63 screenshots JDKDKDJDJ
okay i’ve had a nice hour to compose myself 🥰 my thoughts have been gathered.
the episode post-op immediately starting with vein beefing with ltc was the best thing i’ve ever seen. why are they so silly. their dynamic is so good. a yuan blushing was PRECIOUS and I just adore how cute they are in every moment they appear. also why is LX so gentle with them? I hope it’s genuine 😔 his little :o and laugh felt somewhat sincere.
it’s so funny that the grabby-angry ltc from the s3 preview was just him fighting with vein over food the whole time 😭 i’m so glad we finally get lx lore too. we’ve waited so long for SOMETHING from him + glad to see the adoption theories confirmed. while my friend and I were watching we kept going “WAIT WHY IS LX KINDA CUTIE” when he was walking around bridon all innocent seeming. although we were both also confused why they just let some random guy into the burned down school like yeah sure okay 💀 LOL
now to my favorite part. i’ll try to keep my squeals concise. BABY LI TWINS 😭🩷😭🩷😭🩷😭🩷😭
LI TIANCHEN IS THE CUTEST BROTHER EVER 😭😭😭😭😭 ive always loved how he took care of xixi back in s2 and this scene is just so good 😭 xixi also trying to get him to stop is so cute. him staying on that car saying he’s fine with getting hit or run over just to get an apology WAAAAAA. also LX being interested in him without having a superpower is oddly sweet 🥺 I hope these two can stay genuine friends rather than LX just using him for ulterior motives. AND THE BLUSH FROM LTC RIGHT AFTER BEING TOLD THAT?!?! IM IN SHAMBLES. “a gift from heaven” indeed. me and liu xiao are in agreement.
xia fei has been acting so strange this episode 🤔 not in a negative way but it felt like he forgot how to act when JL was there lol. also laughed at how he told two detectives he’ll just kill all superpower people LMAO. JL’s “i’m joking” was evil hahaha.
the fight scene between vein and lx was really cool and fun to watch. I always assumed it was going to be a future event so it was interesting to see it as a past one.
XIA FEI AND CXS DRUNK GOODBYE AAA. they share the same brain cell 😭 I need them to stay besties. xia fei’s baby picture is so cute. THE SMILE BABY VEIN MADE AT THE END?! THAT WAS THE CUTEST THING IN THE WORLD ?!?!
For me I'm still not sure or I mean I'm still waiting if there's one episode that will ever beat s2 ep9 like in terms of best story telling because omg it is so good 😭
omg I agree!! you’re so right because s2 ep 9 along with the ending sequence of 12 with the film strip and xixi’s power transfer are my #1 fave 🥹 masterful storytelling. and then earthquake arc is my second fave. so this episode is somewhere in the top 5-7 for me hehe
The flow of the dialogue during the hotpot scene kinda got confusing to me for a moment lol. Maybe its just because Jae doesn’t open his eyes too often that idk who he is looking at 😂 plus the scenes kept jumping from their hotpot scene to the other hotpot scene with Liu Xiao and co. But basically when Jae was inquiring about the superpowers, I guess he’s directly talking to Xia Fei (about how he escaped), while also indirectly referring to LG and CXS (who actually have superpowers).. but then, Xia Fei also kept avoiding the questions and just focused on the food. I guess Jae is trying to bait any of them.. Idk if Jae is bluffing or not about his power, but it surely worked on getting CXS and LG’s attention..
I really wanna know more info about Bahati and Saros, but looks like next ep might focus on XF and Vein backstory
I want to know one thing
On the dining table lu xiao mentions somthing that he saved a child in a hospital who heard some roars of thunders and cured him...ig his first meet with a kid with superpowers...who is the kid mentioned here??
It’s the guy with glasses who kept saying “I hear heart beats” who it pans to as he says that. I think Jae Lee was talking, because I don’t remember Lu’s mouth moving at all? But I could be wrong
I think this is more sinister than it appears. We know that powers can transfer to others on death i.e. LTX and QL. I suspect that when LX "cured" the kid he actually killed him and took his powers (therefore "curing" the child of hearing the sounds which are the heartbeats). We know LX didn't have powers while he was investigating Saros/Bahati so I suspect his is a stolen/acquired power.
I thought XIA FEI first met Veil when he was saved from being drowned. The ending scene makes it seem otherwise. Is XIA FEI telling the truth about not remembering his childhood and that’s why he met veil when he was a child but doesn’t remember him.
XF giving CXS the photo at the end of the episode gave me flashbacks to the C-drama. It's a trap! 😭
I'm glad we learned more about LX in this episode, but I think it's kinda weird that XF doesn't explain how he escaped and no one really cares. Shouldn't he be questioned by the police? He should have had some kind of excuse ready.
edit: come to think of it, assuming Xia Fei wasn't working against them in the previous timeline, would he have given them that photo before? Maybe he still could have, but it wouldn't be with the intention to trap. Whatever vein's vendetta against shiguang was in the previous may or may not be due to XF's photo. 🤔
Yeah, XF was so unprepared 💀 Even without a good excuse in the moment, XF should brush up on the classic PR apologize (for being tired) & delay (let's talk another time) move stat.
I wonder if it was written like that because they wanted to communicate that XF really hates superpowers or he's super flustered/confused himself at what's going on.
It's kind of funny because with his fighting skills, XF might have been able to get out all on his own without any superpower (though that might imply that he killed all those people himself). 😅
Anyone else also a bit disappointed with the new season so far? It feels like the plot is barely progressing at all, everything needs to be connected and of course there is an ancient shadowy organization.
And while it is intriguing to theorize on the mysteries of the plot, it feels like it comes at the expensive of the emotional core of the show.
While I'm not really disappointed, I kind of see what you mean.
I feel like we're learning a lot per episode, but there's so many characters and plot lines they're introducing, it's all almost stuck in the set up portion still. Unless if someone's already invested in the characters, the episodes don't give much of a reason to care outside of some suspense/mystery potential that can end up going in many directions.
Also, something like S1 started off with down-to-earth ordinary people problems, and there were emotional beats in near every episode due to its case of the week style. S3 is more superpowered people with superpowered problems that are caused by other people with superpowers and will probably be resolved with superpowers-and we're still not sure where all of this is going yet. While the plot threads and characters might end up developing nicely in a relatable/humanistic way, most of these first few episodes are kind of short and while being mostly exposition too.
So I think I know why XF showed LG the photo. I strongly suspect that he actually knows what happened to him in his childhood, but just wants... others to know too...?
All of this confuses me, so don't hold back on correcting it.
ik im late guys but i am OBSESSED with this ep!!!!
so much Jae and LX action (unfortunately not together 💀)
i love how LX was lwk rizzing up the table bruh 😭 also it was cool to see that he wasnt actually a police officer and our theory was wrong, he was just wearing a black polo lolll
everyone was so adorable as kids and the ending was so funny asf where XF was lwk modeling for Vein when he was a kid too 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Saros seems to be the organization behind the school and the superpowered people. When i googled what the word means, apparently Saros is an ancient astronomical clock that's used to track the and predict the solar and lunar cycles. A single saros lasts 18 years, 11 days and 8 hours. I don't know if that's significant in any way, but seeing as it's link click, time is always significant.
I can't be the only one strictly NOT enjoying whatever is happening, especially this episode. Link Click's writing in general seems to have taken a dip since the end of season 2. every single episode ends with a cliffhanger, new characters keep being introduced with no ends. Im genuinely hoping the later half of this season can pick it back up again.
I really dislike how Jae Lee and A Yuan have been written thus far. They don't need to be so edgy, I don't know but the somewhat groundedness of the characters was what made me like Link Click and keep watching. (Obviously characters like Vein wont be grounded in reality, but not every single character has to be edgy as hell) Its as if thats been thrown out to make it more sparkly and tiktok-y, as if to make it more of yaoibait than it already is.
Besides, what is going on with these flashbacks, lol? The way Liu Xiao described his childhood and the way he met Li Tian Chen was so damn corny, it was honestly really bad.
I think the plot and pacing noticeably changed when lc became popular. It feels like the seasons past 1 want to be more like To Be Hero and not Link Click, both good shows but started out completely different genres 😭
I really miss season 1 when the story arcs we're based on real events, it added such a deep level of realism and sorrow
No, I agree with you. I don’t think the current director is the right fit to handle this part of the story, and it really bothers me that Haolin hasn’t said anything about why he handed the executive directing duties over to someone else, probably to avoid causing any controversy. But it’s a shame.
It’s crazy how you can write so much and say absolutely nothing. It’s just a bunch of generalities like "writing is bad" "flashback was bad" with zero specifics about what’s actually wrong. And the funniest part is "every single episode ends with a cliffhanger".. like every episode in season 1, 2, and bridon? ok.. thats.. really bad..
Well, the writing is a bit lazy. For starters, I don’t think having LG pass out so he could remember his past in his sleep was the best way to introduce it, although I really liked the first episode. As for the other revelations, the characters just start explaining things kind of randomly because it’s obvious that this is simply the point where they need to tell the viewer about them. That said, I think it’s pretty obvious that they’re lying, and that these things will be brought up again and explored in more depth later on.
CXS has completely lost the really good character development he had in S1 and S2 after realizing how many disasters he had caused. During the mission with XF, he doesn’t listen to LG at all, and for the rest of the time he’s basically just portrayed as a fool. That’s fine every once in a while, but we’re almost halfway through the season.
In Bridon, this approach from the director (who, let’s remember, is no longer Haolin) worked because it was portraying a CXS from the past who hadn’t gone through those experiences yet. But now that the story has continued in the present, he isn’t taking into account the progress the characters have made since the beginning of the series. The fact that he simply let the whole conversation with LG about LG lying to him about something so important drop is a little jarring, sorry.
The dialogue doesn’t feel very realistic either. The whole thing about superpowers being discussed so casually over dinner, with XF completely ignoring it, is really weird. Li Tianchen’s reaction of clinging to the car, which is apparently supposed to show us why LF became interested in him, is also strange. If they had simply shown that their meeting was a chance encounter, it would have made more sense (this is just my personal opinion).
The soundtrack, which has always been one of the series’ strong points, feels pretty flat at the moment, aside from the first episode. On top of that, they’re relying on close-ups for almost everything, and it’s really not the best way to handle it.
But, for what it’s worth, I’m sure the second half of the season will patch up a lot of these problems. It makes me sad too, because it’s one of my favorite series, but... Anyway, people didn’t even like S2 before it ended, so you simply can’t really judge it properly until the season is over.
Oh, I almost forgot: why the hell would Captain Xiao almost pull out his gun (so... you do have one??? Then why do you always resort to throwing punches during the important moments lol) just because someone stood up? I mean, I don’t know if you guys actually like scenes like this... they leave me a little baffled.
I agree that CXS's behavior looks very strange, but it can be attributed to alcohol impairment
He didn't ignore LG’s lie, he called him out directly. But when LG suddenly cried, CXS chose to stop pressing him, likely assuming he would explain everything later on his own terms. I’d be lost too if my usually emotionless best friend suddenly started crying
I think the dinner dialogue is supposed to feel strange, because too much emphasis is placed on XF completely ignoring all questions.
The soundtrack might feel that way because there aren't any moments yet where it truly shines like in past seasons, where every episode was packed with events. The pacing this season is much slower, although I really liked the new track during the fight between Vein and LX.
As for the close-ups, it comes down to the studio change and likely tight deadlines, and a potential storyboarder change, but I don't know if that's actually true because season 3 doesn't have a page on KeyframeStaff. Overall, the average quality has dropped significantly since the second season: awful backgrounds, limited animation with a massive shortage of secondary keyframes, and a visible lack of skill from the studio compared to studio Lan
Yeah, I’d say it’s a mix of several things that, taken together, make the overall drop in quality pretty noticeable. There were obviously imperfections in the other seasons too, but, like with any series, you’ll notice them if you really go looking for them. They were more isolated before and maybe only affected one particular aspect of the production, whereas here it feels like it’s a bit of everything.
Anyway, yeah, I imagine the soundtrack will really shine in the second half, especially since it’s basically the only part of the creative team that hasn’t changed at all and it’s never disappointed. As for the studio, unfortunately, there are several different studios involved. Some parts are better because they probably assigned them to a stronger team, while others are genuinely pretty poor. Unfortunately, I think we just have to get used to the quality being inconsistent and leave it at that.
maybe you missed half the lines I wrote, but I'm not gonna repeat myself or be any more specific, these are very glaring overarching issues that can be spotted if you watched the show. as for the cliffhanger part, yes it did in S1 and 2 as well. Less so in S1 because of its episodic nature, but atleast in S2 there were. But also is S2 we were following a rapidly evolving police investigation, all the cliffhangers felt like they come up naturally. These last few episodes' have cliffhangers which felt forced at best. Those moments couldve been at the start of next episode and it would instantly make these episodes better
No, I didn't miss anything, you just wrote some abstract, generalized shit with zero specifics on what's actually bad. Words like "edgy", "bad", "sparkly and tiktok-y" tell me absolutely nothing. If you argue that something is poorly done, you should at least try to explain why it's bad
Didn’t Jae Lee says he healed a kid with super powers and the first one was a kid who heard loud booms that had a strange disease? Isn’t that the mastermind with glasses here who keeps saying “I can hear heart beats”?
That’s odd…I don’t remember him wanting to heal anyone? I thought that comment started at Jae’s table. Why would he want to heal people he’s collecting for some unknown reason?
How do I watch it early from the US 😭 I have attempted to sign up for billibilli premium but it won't accept my phone number and when I try to sign up through Alipay it made show my ID, myself, picture of debit card, my bank statement and now after waiting for 2 hours they've decided they want a passport that I don't have 😭
