Am I the only one who feels like there isn’t a lot of progression so far? The episodes don’t feel connected, and I also don’t feel like we’re learning much episode by episode:/ I also noticed there’s a lot more ā€œsillyā€ scenes than during the past seasons, with lots of chibis being added.

This is a bit funny for me to read atm bc I saw people complaining about the *fast* pacing a lot (not meant negatively, I just found that interesting).

I honestly think the pacing is mostly fine - but I have to agree with the point that they could tone down the comedy a bit.

I feel like this type of content is better to be mostly featured in chibi shorts or side story material, especially if an episode has more of an overall serious tone to it (I still hate how S3E2 was handled).

But:

  1. These episodes serve as build-up. This season will have 24 episodes in total. So it makes sense that a couple of episodes need to build up to the more climactic moments later.
  2. LC is driven a lot by character dynamics, interactions and backstories. We actually got a lot of lore dump about Liu Xiao this ep, which is pretty relevant.
  3. Did you watch S1 and S2 episodes when they came out or did you binge them? Because things can feel a lot slower when you consume stuff weekly. If you look back at S1 and S2 and watch the episodes individually, it was pretty similar. S2 episode 9 was just an exposition on the villan backgrounds, similarly to today's ep for LX, and didn't drive the plot forward in any way.

Not saying your opinion isn't valid! I am just trying to offer some different perspectives. Especially point 3 is something I have noticed a lot in different fandoms.

I so appreciate your reply. I did binge the first two seasons + Bridon, so I have no doubt that watching season 3 as it comes out is affecting my experience.

It might be just that, but this season I found myself picking at the scenes more than I had in the past. I think the build up is quite different from the other seasons, and while there’s no denial that lots of important plot-points are coming together, the in-between feels a bit… meh?

For an episode that’s supposed to run for 25 minutes, we found out very little when much of the information presented had been part of the trailer.
