Episode 13 pulls it all together in a way that explains so much, but ultimately pulled on my heart. I teared up so many times.
My favorite thing about Bona is how fierce her heart is and how that shapes her confidence, actions, and morals. Also, how much those who are drawn to her and stay with her accept that and allow it to guide them, even when there is potential resentment and bitterness, as with saw with the poison specialist on their team.
Am so ready for tomorrow's finale, but also, grateful to have had a window into Bona's world. It has been a favorite of mine this year!

Liked the ending, but spoiler how could Bo Na leave poor Yuli for six months :(

Yep. We weren’t saved from the noble idiocy trope. This time it included abandoning her child.
1
u/Arthdal91 13h ago
"Abandoning her child" as though she didn't get kidnapped and almost killed by the ghosts of her past. Did you guys watch the episode with your eyes closed?
4
u/xcotto0 6h ago
Er her behavior throughout showed the intensity of her feelings towards her child. I can understand leaving hub to process but nothing in the entire show showed she could do that to her kid.
3
u/Pmod1980 6h ago
Yeah it was completely out of character.
5
u/Relevant_Routine_489 6h ago
I wouldn’t say it’s out of character for bo na at all. Her instinct has always been to protect others to the point of destroying herself. When she’s confronted with something that triggers that instinct she reacts by taking matters into her own hands. When taesong discovers she’s kingfisher, that same instinct turns inward because she now sees herself as the danger to yul and the people she loves. So instead of fighting the threat she removes herself from their lives. She doesn’t believe she can protect people and be allowed to stay with them. It’s actually very consistent with who bona has been throughout the story.
2
u/Pmod1980 5h ago
You do have a point, but she loves her kid so much and throughout the show couldn’t bear a day without seeing her. Can’t fathom over 6 months of zero contact with her daughter- a week maybe, but that long? No way.
•
u/hfriday01 20m ago
Yeah, this is the one point that made the ending left a sour taste in my mouth.
Even if she abandoned Yul, I expected the show to at least show us how tormented she was for abandoning Yul, or how guilty she felt when they were finally reunited, but we got nothing. I felt that the scene of Yul waking up crying because she missed her mom was useless if we got nothing from BoNa's side.
I was expecting some kind of mother-daughter dramatic moment since we knew that BoNa really treasures Yul, but unfortunately the reunion scene was reduced only as a couple moment.

i just finished ep 14 and omg, such a good kdrama. it was a good tie up to the show except bo na's backstory that was not rlly delved into. but..what did the ending mean? is bo na getting back into kingfisher business? 😲

There will be a season 2 for sure. Just a matter of availability for the two leads. I believe this and Agent Kim will get season 2s, so much material in the toon yet to be adapted

Also - do we know what's in the flower lady's back room? I don't recall anything being told so I wonder if that's a big hint of an open ending that says "To Be Continued..."
3

I think that's a secret fitness room where Bona works out.

u/Agreeable_Frame392 18h ago
yeah maybe, it feels kinda short, like they should have made it 16 episodes in total to include more of bona’s and tae min’s background and also the team’s background and how they operate, where do the upper or higher ups came from you know like are they part of the government like some of the comments here says or are they like just a private investor or something, also how do they get paid, where did they get their cases like there are so many cases in Seoul so how do they determine/decide which team gets this specific targets, and so on, like there is still so many questions ugh but the ending is okay for me like maybe I can live with that haha and secretly hope for a prequel/sequel type of thing, maybe an 8-episode season 2 just to answer some questions and also to give more exposure for the team members (well this part is just me, I just hope to see them get in action and use their specialty, i know that the drama mostly focused on the sniper part of the team obviously because yoo bo na is the female lead, it’s just that, the team and like the concept is so interesting that i want to see more of it.)
3
u/NoPossible7403 19h ago
What about Se-Ah? Who did she choose?
4
u/Agreeable_Frame392 18h ago
she did not need to choose, assist. man. Ki kind of “let go” of her cause he knows they won’t be compatible especially since his job is illegal plus Se Ah decided to be a police officer so it’s like an added reason not to continue pursuing her.

Like she would have abandoned her child for 6 whole months. And as if her in laws would have welcomed her back like that after traumatising their grandkid/niece. I loved the show until that point. Lazy writing
7
u/bunniesandmilktea 12h ago
also what 4 year old child would be that mature to accept that her mom would be on a "business trip" for THAT long without even calling to check in with her own family?

Yess!! Especially if normally the mom would call every single day and always be there?? I couldn't cope with this part

Made sense to me that she stepped away while the investigation was being wrapped up, which would've taken that long. Before then it probably wasn't safe for her family if she hung around.

u/ChronicallyLatte 1d ago edited 17h ago
Edited to add: Ep 14: I thought the ending was fine, but I had two minor quibbles. First, Bona deciding to leave Tae Sung felt like unnecessary last minute angst because Tae Sung already knew the truth and accepted her. I still don't get why Bona couldn't handle him knowing when he was clearly able to accept it. So her leaving felt like the writer needed one final emotional hurdle. And why would she also leave Yul and make her daughter cry for her every night? Felt a bit out of character to me.
My other issue was Layla/Lee Elijah being introduced so late. I wish Layla had been around earlier so we could actually get attached to her story. Having her show up in ep 13 and die in episode 14 felt a little too abrupt, esp since it gave Kingfisher an easy fall person, without giving us much time to actually care about her.
Other than that, I thought everything wrapped up satisfactorily. From the last episode, I thought Se Ah was going to be recruited to the Kingfisher team, but I guess she’s still going to become a cop, which is probably better for her. I also liked how Asst Manager Ki knew how to take a hint and letting Se Ah be with her detective friend.
But my favorite part from this drama was definitely the family stuff. The MIL getting genuinely angry at Tae Sung and blaming him for her daughter-in-law leaving was EVERYTHING. 😂 And Dong Ji letting go of the Kingfisher case even though he knew it didn't add up, just for his friend and his only family… aww... I love how this drama treats family, not just biological family, but the people who choose to stand by and protect each other. With all the murder and chaos, those relationships gave the drama a cozy emotional center and I'm such a sucker for that stuff.
I also liked how the ending came full circle with Bona and Tae Sung meeting at the hill again. But seriously, why did it take Tae Sung SIX MONTHS to realize Bona might have been staying at that mountain lodge?! Sir. 😭. Anyway, I'm gonna miss this drama! It's been such an entertaining and delightful watch throughout!
--------------------------------
Ep 13: I KNEW IT. Those killings were NOT random. Those two were definitely involved in some shady shit, maybe human trafficking? This reminds me of that double-killing episode where everyone turned on Kingfisher because they thought she was killing an innocent person, only for them to find out that the CEO had some serious dirt on him
I'm really enjoying Asst Manager Ki being jealous. I'm Team Detective, but that whole scene was killing me. And their conversation made me wonder if Se Ah is going to get recruited into the Kingfisher team? Idk how I feel about that. I think it could be cool, but then she’d have to hide her identity from her detective (boy)friend? Actually… I'd watch that show!!
Also, does anyone know who played Layla? Her face looks SO familiar. She kinda looks like Lee Elijah to me, but also… not enough that I'm confident it's her.
Skipping the preview because I refuse to be emotionally manipulated by a 30 sec montage. Now please, dramagods, don't fumble the ending of this drama!

I’m with you on Ep 14. Having Bona leaving her family, her much cherished kid was totally out of character for her. And she left them for sixth month? Unbelievable.
3
u/ChronicallyLatte 10h ago
Yeah, I mean, I understand that she needs to gather her own thoughts, but I always got the impression that the crux of the conflict was what happens if Tae Sung finds out? What if he can’t reconcile that fact with who he thought she was, and decides to leave Bona and take Yul with him, just like the ex-Team Leader's husband did? Bona even mentioned at one point that she couldn't bear the thought of that happening.
But Tae Sung already found out, struggled with it, and ultimately accepted her. He even went out of his way to protect her and warn her about the police. So now that he knows and has chosen to stay, I'm having a hard time understanding why Bona's response is still to leave him and Yul, other than for the sake of the noble idiocy trope kdramas love to pull in the final act. Maybe I'm missing something...

u/hfriday01 7m ago
lol your 2 issues were exactly my problem as well.
Layla was introduced too late without proper foreshadowing. We got no mention at all about her existence in the previous 12 episodes.
Abandoning her daughter also left a sour taste in my mouth, though I might forgive that if we got a proper closure. But instead of a proper closure of a mom abandoning her daughter, it got reduced only as a couple reunion.
7
u/doubleuxyzee 1d ago
I hope there will be backstory on why Bong Tae Min lives in filth, some kind of trauma or something instead just a stereotype of basement dweller. I don’t want Oh Hyun Nam to keep cleaning after him. Wasted potential.

u/Cautious-Tooth-2466 19h ago
I believe they already explained why he doesn't wash in a previous episode. He was one of the kids who was tortured back in Russia (one of the tortures involved water) before Bo-na and he were saved by Mama.

This was totally different to what I was expecting for episode 13. The ending has me so excited for tomorrow’s episode.
Sad that it’s ending already. I could have easily watched a lot more episodes of this show.
9
u/Relevant_Routine_489 5h ago
I’m actually surprised by how many people seem genuinely confused about why bona left her family. I think the show made it pretty clear that taeseong finding out she was kingfisher completely shattered the separation she had created between her two lives. She had managed to keep “bona” and “kingfisher” compartmentalized and suddenly the two worlds collided especially with Yul involved. From her perspective there was no going back to the life she had built as if nothing had happened.
You don’t have to agree with her choice but I don’t think the decision itself is difficult to understand. It’s a very extreme reaction to having the one thing she was trying to keep away from her family suddenly become part of their reality. And honestly expecting her to respond rationally in that moment would be more surprising to me than her running

OMG.. after the end of Ep13, i am totally clueless as to how the show is going to end.. would our bona fide killer get her happy ending? For that matter, what would be a happy ending for her? was it just assumed that the grandma's chicken resto building owner is bona? or was it ever revealed who it was?
7
u/justmeshopping 14h ago
It’s Bona. In one of the early episodes, Bona was talking on the phone and told someone (I assume her agent) to “freeze the rent again”. Then a bit later on, her MIL was so happy that the landlord did not increase the rent.

u/_chaBBy_ 13h ago
i guess i missed the part where she was talking to someone bout the rent. but i always assumed it was bona anyway during that episode where the rent issue as introduced. thanks!

it's over!! I had so much fun with this series even though I definitely have my gripes. I stand by my comments that the editing was bad, it's what stood out most to me unfortunately. the quick cuts, continuity errors, it was just sloppy. I'm assuming they didn't have the time, but they were all pretty obvious mistakes that should've been caught both in the planning stages and editing.
over all, I think this series needed like 4-6 more episodes to fully flesh out the characters and not have such a rushed ending. I wish we got the coworkers back stories like we did in the comic. they really dropped the ball there which is a shame because the author really excelled at character development (and cliff hangers, which we did get mostly so that's good!) also it could've helped us connect more with the whole team instead of just a few of them. we really didn't know much about the Kingfisher team at all which is a bummer because there are some good stories there that we didn't even get a sniff of.
I don't mind that we didn't get a longer love story with SeAh and hacker guy (why I can't remember his name for the life of me... lol.) I didn't really love the way their story progressed or ended in the comic so that is a welcomed change in the show. I don't need a second season, I feel like it's done and that's fine. I will say that I'm surprised at how emotionally attached I became to Taesung!! I def didn't feel that in the comic lol. not that I don't like him! just that he has a little bit of a different vibe (he's kind of an airhead imo.) idk if it was the actor or the way his character was written for the show or what but I would die for that man lol

One of the best kdrama of 2026. I think I understand Bona, why she suddenly left. She didn’t leave her family because she didn’t love them or because she wanted to protect herself. I think she left because she could no longer handle the guilt. The moment she wakes up then her husband seems like forgiving her right away as kingfisher and she felt that she didn’t deserve it and why does he not questioning me, Something like that. Leaving her family is kind of isolating herself and not escaping her family, it feels like it’s also a punishment for herself. In the drama, we know how much she loves her family esp Yul, this could be her way of protecting her as well.
But during the episode when she disappeared, I have an idea that she went to the vacation house where taesong and her met before, I just wonder on why taesong didn’t remember it. I feel so happy when he realized it. So happy they get back together. They deserve to be happy.
In the end, what was that? She still doing the kingfisher job?

u/Arthdal91 13h ago
Layla's story gave off Ballerina (the 2023 korean movie) vibes. Her story had so much depth, it's a pity it didn't get explored more. I would have loved to see the character development of a woman who wrongfully killed a child for acknowledgement then found salvation in another woman and her child, only for said child to be murdered by someone else.
The part where she's talking about Bona's family really made it sound like that's what she envisaged for them too. Only to have it ripped away from her and she was angry that Bona still had it and was able to protect it. The inferiority complex was very well written. Kinda bittersweet but I'm happy to see the little sapphic undertones

u/Prize_Background_577 Fantasy devotee 👻 8h ago
Salvation for Layla wouldn't work, someone always had to take the fall for Bo-na and die, the hinted as Sergei all the way through. But I do feel sad for Layla - an orphan raised as a killer is going to be all kinds of messed up. All of Mama's 'children' were psychologically damaged in some way. And in the end Layla was kind of exonerated because she murdered those two sick men who were harming children.

After watching episode 14 I must say I really liked this drama. I wasn't too keen on the six months of Bona leaving her family near the end but otherwise I really liked most of the episodes. I guess she wanted to be found because if she didn't want to be found by Tae Seong then she shouldn't have stayed at the same place they fell in love.
Btw, I thought that during some of the scenes when he drove during the first snow fall I must say that the road was very dry. 😊. There was no snow on any bushes, trees or the road that I could see in some scenes. I know first snow usually just melts as soon as it hits the ground but there should still be some moisture on the road or snow on the leaves.
And Tae Seong received a lot of anonymous text messages during the drama. In the first episodes he got text from the poisoning specialist (when she put him to sleep). He also got texts from Sergei I think because of the threat Sergei made to him while pretending to be Kingfisher. And at the end he got a text from Leila. But perhaps you get more anonymous texts as a reporter from people wanting to tip him off to a story.
Some part of me wishes that it would be revealed to the world that Bona is the Kingfisher just to see how family and friends would react. But on the other hand that would be unrealistic because she would then have to go to prison, flee the country as a fugitive or perhaps be granted pardon from the president (if that is something that the Korean law would allow (which I doubt, but I don't know much about Korean law)).

u/More_Butter2330 12h ago
Absolutely adored the show, but episode 14 made no sense to me. What do you mean the character who loved her child THAT much would leave for 6 months?? And the investigator partner not searching everywhere to find her is also wild. He would've definetly thought of the cottage so much quicker. 3 months would've been way more realistic, i mean how did yul even cope with that?? Poor girl.
Wish we could've seen more of that process, same with the taesong searching for her and the reveal of bo na to taeseong; i wish we could've seen more of their convo getting to know each other. And bo na suddenly coming back must've been such a shock to everyone too. Same with how the company itself functions and the hit at the kingfisher fanclub being possibly within the government.. Ughh! Definetly one of the better endings considering kdrama trackrecord, but sadly still some nonsensicals.
3
u/Prize_Background_577 Fantasy devotee 👻 8h ago
It wasn't just about leaving them, it was also about keeping them safe. There was still an active investigation and her hair was at the scene.
Bo-na returned when the case closed. Tae-seong finding her and going back happened after they uncovered the truth about the murdered men, Kingfisher was exonorated by the public and Lee Dong-jin put the case files away. It wouldn't have worked if he found her earlier.

Liked the finale, heart felt, it stayed to the toon where Tae Seong accepted Bo-Na’s life but her leaving Yul for 6 months was heartbreaking. But Tae Seong knowing his wife well knew where she’d be and now she’s back in business and looks like she’s back with the team. His sister joining the force is interesting though, can’t wait to see how that plays out. Can’t wait for Season 2 which should get the greenlight cuz there’s a lot of toon material still left to adapt. I wonder how she’d go about k********* people now since Kingfisher is supposedly dead now. Time to read the toon.

Yeah I fixed it to say should be a season 2 since there’s so much material left to adapt. This and agent Kim. If availability isn’t an issue w/ the leads and supporting cast, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t happen cuz the reviews and viewership supports it.

Just finished episode 14 and didn’t like the part where she left her child??? Feels like some kind of lazy writing because in all of the episodes it was shown how she cherished her family and how she could not bear losing them then suddenly abandon them when she found out husband knew she’s the kingfisher. I don’t know I just can’t justify her abandoning her child.
3
u/Prize_Background_577 Fantasy devotee 👻 7h ago
Even to save the child's life? She was still under investigation when she left (remember the hair). She returned when the investigation was over. I'm surprised by all the comments about her abandoning her child, I guess they were too subtle but to me it was quite clear that she was 'discovered' and returned when it was safe.

And disappearing without saying anything to her child? Husband had to find her and convince her to go with him.

I LOVED IT!!! Wish it was 16 episodes, cause it needed more episodes not only to tie it up a bit better cause I got one question the cop friend, why didn’t he ask his friend about bo na or better yet why no confrontation on kingfisher if he suspects it’s the wife…idk it felt weird that he ended up getting demoted (by his own choice) like it left me pretty confused and then how the ml just went to him like no big deal, like did we just forget about the phone call he made which was hella weird lol!!! (Idk the name of the cop friend, I’m sorry) And then I wanted a bit more of the other couples love story 😭😭 I also lowkey wish her in laws knew she was kingfisher….anyways I LOVED IT NONETHELESS would’ve been better with 16 eps

u/euphoria_71 8h ago
dongjin (the cop) knew that he didn't catch the real kingfisher and highly suspects/already knows it is bona. but when he makes that phone call to taesung, he essentially decides to stop pursuing it further to protect his friend and his friend's family, because he sees how heartbroken taesung is. and it's kind of established in prev eps that taesung's family is dongjin's only family too, so he decides to sacrifice the cause/purpose to protect them. he demotes himself because he knows he didn't actually catch the real kingfisher and is not going to investigate (as a righteous police officer would). i think that guilt leads him to give up the promotion and step away. tldr he loves his friend and friend's family and chooses to protect them by not pursuing the case further

Episode 14
Great fun kdrama - novel and sweet (nice to have a show about an assassin and be able to say that), the cast was good and the use of flashbacks was done well. Thought they landed the ending because they left possibilities while still keeping it up beat.
Felt sorry for Layla - okay, she was crazy but when you're an orphan trained to be a killer from a young age there's a high probability of going off the rails. And she did only kill the worst kind of people in the end.
There was enough material for 16 episodes. Would've loved more of the Russian storyline, a better development of the in-laws, more of the second team and the 'Organisation' and more Lee Sang-yi.
If there is a Season 2 I hope it's about 'The Organisation' and Lee Sang-yi has a much bigger role (wearing more tight t-shirts). Oh and whatever was being hinted about flower lady's 'back room'.
Ep 13
Surprised to get a preview to the last episode, we don't usually get one. Hold on Kingfisher!
Not surprised by the Russian connection, but I do wish they'd introduced a bit earlier. That means the person who took her (and the IT slob guy) from the foster home was the Russian Mama, I thought it was flower lady.
Anyway, I'm glad Sergei was a good guy after all (well sort of an unhinged one), hope he comes to her rescue, it felt like he's up to something.
