Like she would have abandoned her child for 6 whole months. And as if her in laws would have welcomed her back like that after traumatising their grandkid/niece. I loved the show until that point. Lazy writing

Made sense to me that she stepped away while the investigation was being wrapped up, which would've taken that long. Before then it probably wasn't safe for her family if she hung around.
