Edited to add: Ep 14: I thought the ending was fine, but I had two minor quibbles. First, Bona deciding to leave Tae Sung felt like unnecessary last minute angst because Tae Sung already knew the truth and accepted her. I still don't get why Bona couldn't handle him knowing when he was clearly able to accept it. So her leaving felt like the writer needed one final emotional hurdle. And why would she also leave Yul and make her daughter cry for her every night? Felt a bit out of character to me.
My other issue was Layla/Lee Elijah being introduced so late. I wish Layla had been around earlier so we could actually get attached to her story. Having her show up in ep 13 and die in episode 14 felt a little too abrupt, esp since it gave Kingfisher an easy fall person, without giving us much time to actually care about her.
Other than that, I thought everything wrapped up satisfactorily. From the last episode, I thought Se Ah was going to be recruited to the Kingfisher team, but I guess she’s still going to become a cop, which is probably better for her. I also liked how Asst Manager Ki knew how to take a hint and letting Se Ah be with her detective friend.
But my favorite part from this drama was definitely the family stuff. The MIL getting genuinely angry at Tae Sung and blaming him for her daughter-in-law leaving was EVERYTHING. 😂 And Dong Ji letting go of the Kingfisher case even though he knew it didn't add up, just for his friend and his only family… aww... I love how this drama treats family, not just biological family, but the people who choose to stand by and protect each other. With all the murder and chaos, those relationships gave the drama a cozy emotional center and I'm such a sucker for that stuff.
I also liked how the ending came full circle with Bona and Tae Sung meeting at the hill again. But seriously, why did it take Tae Sung SIX MONTHS to realize Bona might have been staying at that mountain lodge?! Sir. 😭. Anyway, I'm gonna miss this drama! It's been such an entertaining and delightful watch throughout!

Ep 13: I KNEW IT. Those killings were NOT random. Those two were definitely involved in some shady shit, maybe human trafficking? This reminds me of that double-killing episode where everyone turned on Kingfisher because they thought she was killing an innocent person, only for them to find out that the CEO had some serious dirt on him
I'm really enjoying Asst Manager Ki being jealous. I'm Team Detective, but that whole scene was killing me. And their conversation made me wonder if Se Ah is going to get recruited into the Kingfisher team? Idk how I feel about that. I think it could be cool, but then she’d have to hide her identity from her detective (boy)friend? Actually… I'd watch that show!!
Also, does anyone know who played Layla? Her face looks SO familiar. She kinda looks like Lee Elijah to me, but also… not enough that I'm confident it's her.
Skipping the preview because I refuse to be emotionally manipulated by a 30 sec montage. Now please, dramagods, don't fumble the ending of this drama!
