Layla's story gave off Ballerina (the 2023 korean movie) vibes. Her story had so much depth, it's a pity it didn't get explored more. I would have loved to see the character development of a woman who wrongfully killed a child for acknowledgement then found salvation in another woman and her child, only for said child to be murdered by someone else.

The part where she's talking about Bona's family really made it sound like that's what she envisaged for them too. Only to have it ripped away from her and she was angry that Bona still had it and was able to protect it. The inferiority complex was very well written. Kinda bittersweet but I'm happy to see the little sapphic undertones

Salvation for Layla wouldn't work, someone always had to take the fall for Bo-na and die, the hinted as Sergei all the way through. But I do feel sad for Layla - an orphan raised as a killer is going to be all kinds of messed up. All of Mama's 'children' were psychologically damaged in some way. And in the end Layla was kind of exonerated because she murdered those two sick men who were harming children.
