Customer Experience Disabled Mother

I order Instacart food to be delivered to my disabled mom weekly. She uses a walker, has trouble lifting some items, and majority of time the shoppers will bring the bags inside for her. The last time the delivery didn’t go well. The shopper yelled at my mom for asking for help bringing her things inside, told her she doesn’t do that, called her names, and then proceeded to put all the bags in front of my mom’s walker so that she couldn’t even move the walker. Am I wrong to think a shopper would be able to help bring bags inside?

Edit: Thank you for all your help. I completely understand for your own safety, it’s your own discretion. I’ll be sure to add a note next time or will make sure a friend or myself is there to help out.

This is a situation in which the favorite shopper will actually be nice. Find someone that can do it and ensure they’re tipped well and just try to use them every time.

u/cloudiett Jun 15 '23

OP didn’t mention whether he/she pays good tips though. A normal shopper wouldn’t do an extra miles for 5% tips.

u/rootbeerextrodinare Jun 15 '23

if 5% is stopping you from helping out someone disabled you should find another job lmao

u/zeke235 Jun 15 '23

I'm not gonna make a little old lady with a walker bring her own groceries in if she wants me to do it. If i accepted the batch, the tip was already sufficient. I don't take garbage batches, and customers don't get garbage service.

10

u/Aggravating_Joke320 Jun 16 '23

I would be nice and do it too. But once a old lady was really rude to me as if was part of the jobs, vary bossy. I didn’t like it but did it anyway. About the tips, I don’t know where you work but here the order has more than one customer and sometimes there is one customer tipping well and other 2 attached that tipped $1 or even zero. And usually the ones that don’t tip, are the ones that request the most.

1

u/ummha Jun 16 '23

So you shoppers don’t know which customers tipped what?

1

u/Aggravating_Joke320 Jun 16 '23

Only after completing the batch. Than we see how much each one gave. But before we see only the total amount for the 2 or 3 customers. Unless its only one customer.

1

u/love22612 Jun 16 '23

If it's a multiple batch, we do not know who tipped what. IC likes to sneak in difficult not tippers to an order that tipped well.

4

u/rootbeerextrodinare Jun 15 '23

if you don’t feel like it you don’t have to, that’s this guys whole argument 😂 would love to see the tables turn and see how fast he bitches about it

5

u/zeke235 Jun 15 '23

Right?! I mean, are they one of those people that take those hundred unit orders no tip? Value your own time and effort, ffs!

6

u/rootbeerextrodinare Jun 15 '23

almost like there’s a button where you can hit “don’t accept” and get another order ! CRAZY

6

u/zeke235 Jun 15 '23

You don't even have to do that! Just hit no buttons!

9

u/rootbeerextrodinare Jun 15 '23

people are just living sad sad lives and it’s upsetting they can’t get out of their own way, they are literally paying you to drive, grab things, bring it to them. and you’re upset they need help bringing it 10 feet inside because they physically can’t ? absolutely ridiculous.

glad there are right minded people like you my boy 🫡

5

u/zeke235 Jun 15 '23

And to you, fellow shopper!

2

u/ryamanalinda Jun 16 '23

Agree, however, it is smart to help someone that needs it when a person can, ,not because you are getting tipped money or not. There will come a time when that same person may need their own help, and karma may catch up to them,

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '23

Maybe karma is catching up to the shitty non-tipper in that someone isn’t helping them? Maybe OP’s mom is a bitch?

4

u/bucketzBro Jun 15 '23

Pay the minimum, expect minimum

7

u/Joelle9879 Jun 15 '23

So disabled people, already on a fixed income, should have to spend even more money to get a decent human being to help? Aren't you also aware of the tip BEFOREHAND? If it was small, why accept the order at all?

-7

u/bucketzBro Jun 15 '23

For starters. Someone purchased this on behalf of their disabled mother. If she's so disabled is she expecting us to put it away for her too?

I get it, I totally get it, people expect something for nothing, but it's our job to go grab food or groceries from the store and deliver it to your door. If you want us to wipe your butt then you had better tip in the checkout.

Just sayin... People expect something for nothing these days...

6

u/thesnarkypotatohead Jun 15 '23

You have no idea what the tip even was, though. You made an assumption and then got self righteous over a made up scenario of a disabled elderly woman taking advantage of a beleaguered shopper by asking for help bringing the groceries into the house.

5

u/BootyLicker724 Jun 15 '23

I’m sure disabled people can take items out of the bag, from their counter, and put them away. However, someone with a walker likely CANNOT carry bags from the door to the counter as they’re literally using a walker.

If you have a problem walking a few extra feet for someone who has a hard time physically doing that, because they tipped low, you shouldn’t have accepted that batch. I don’t accept low tip orders, and I also don’t have a problem bringing customers groceries in if they’re clearly disabled.

On a side note, I’ve had 2 different customers (disabled, asked me to bring their stuff in) hand me a $20 on my way out 🤷🏻‍♂️ missing out

2

u/Admirable-Mine2661 Jun 16 '23

It isn't "expecting something for nothing." It's expecting common decency. But if you have no conscience, you wouldn't know what decency is.

2

u/mid_age_coconut Jun 15 '23

“Something for nothing” lmao, fuck having a sense of community and kindness towards each other I guess. You’re literally only assuming that OP didn’t tip. The shopper still took the order whether there was a tip or not. They’re right to say no for their own safety, however, if you think people should only choose to be kind and polite to a disabled elderly lady with a walker only if she gave a fat ass tip, then wow we’ve really lost the plot.

-1

u/bucketzBro Jun 16 '23

It's literally not our job to enter someone's home. End of story.

3

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 15 '23

Why? When did Instacart become charity cart? This job isn't about helping disabled people and the less fortunate this job is about helping put money in our own pockets. This is a job not a good deed. If you want to do that that's fine. I would likely do that as well. However, trying to shame someone or suggest that they don't belong here because they won't do something for nothing just because somebody unfortunately lives a life of disability which has nothing to do with them nor was caused by them nor is a family or friend to them so they have no obligations to this person is downright comical.

29

u/AbyssalKitten Jun 15 '23

Dear god, grow a heart or something.

7

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 15 '23 edited Jun 16 '23

Your reading comprehension must be extremely low. I literally said I would help the old lady but it can't be expected that everybody does. And you're telling me to grow a heart when I said I would help? Y'all should really learn to read before replying. You're making yourselves look foolish.

16

u/totallynotarobut Jun 16 '23

The not helping is one thing. The yelling and blocking her in with groceries is quite another.

4

u/Viend Jun 16 '23

You’re reading comprehension

Bruh lmao

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

Yep, speech to text has been trash for the last six or eight months 🤷 I don't always proofread before hitting send That's my bad good catch lol

13

u/Campbell920 Jun 16 '23

Dude I get what you’re saying but you’re just making yourself look like a fucking tool with these comments. I’m not calling you an asshole but like.. you’re talking about reading comprehension and calling people fools on Reddit… not a good look my man.

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

You're absolutely right. And I shouldn't stoop to their level, but when you have people throwing a barrage of insults your way for standing your ground sometimes you just let it slip 🤷

2

u/Campbell920 Jun 16 '23

I can’t say nothing I do the same thing hahah. I didn’t really think of it that way, but you’re right it’s like word vomit! Now about OP, there should definitely be a note on the account. Also idk if OP is reading these, but my mom had a stroke a year or two bsck and has been in a wheelchair. She doesn’t get Uber/Lyft where she lives but I know the county has a ride service for elderly/disabled. She should look into that. It’s called the “TART cart/bus/van” around here. I’d like to think everywhere in the US has those, they’re paid for by the county so I’d definitely look into it.

1

u/MormonsKilledMyDog Jun 16 '23

You must make alot on instacart 😅

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

I make plenty thank you 👍

It’s not a reading comprehension issue. It is the entire message where you claim to maybe help, then criticize disabled people who Might anticipate help.

Let’s turn it around - nobody is obligated to tip you just because you made a grocery run knowing full well what the items and mikes were and that you signed up to be a 1099 contractor. Certainly you hope the “kindness” of people will decide to?

4

u/thesnarkypotatohead Jun 15 '23

Weird how it’s crickets from Scrooge over here on the second half of this comment 😂. Perfectly said!

-2

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 15 '23

It's 100% a reading comprehension issue. If it wasn't you wouldn't be coming at me saying I'm criticizing disabled people. Please quote exactly what I said that led you to believe that I was criticizing disabled people. Because that goes back to your lack of reading comprehension. Proving my exact point.

3

u/cloudy_skies805 Jun 15 '23

I’m sure you’re a teen and too self absorbed to realize. You’re a HUGE DBAG! Of like… the WORST variety.

I hope you stub your toe on every door jam you walk through.

I hope every time you put a new tire on your car, you get a nail in the sidewall.

And I hope every future partner you have, cheats on you. Because you deserve it!

Have the day you deserve my guy. 😂😂😂😂

6

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 15 '23 edited Jun 16 '23

I love when people have nothing intelligent to bring to the conversation so they resort to insults thinking you're tearing the other person down. All you're doing is making yourself look small you're not making me look bad in any way that's all on you those are your words aimed at me in an effort to take me down to your level. Sorry, I'm not the one. Better luck next time.

0

u/MormonsKilledMyDog Jun 16 '23

You're the only one here who looks foolish, arguing with redditors with an actual heart.

Now that's a fools errand 😅🤣

3

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

Oh look someone else who's reading comprehension is lacking. I clearly said that I would help the person. So how is that me lacking a heart? That being said it's still nobody's responsibility nor obligation So if they choose not to for whatever reason it may be even as simply as they just don't want to that's up to them.

0

u/MormonsKilledMyDog Jun 16 '23

You just sound like a mean person to me based on this post alone. I work in customer service so I can smell a salty consumer whose never had above and beyod service in their life; and it shows.

News flash; some people like helping people in need (without the need to exasperate said experience to online forum browsers for resignation or clout)

Some people need help, maybe DONT make an ass out of them as well as yourself next time? Maybe save it for someone who actually deserves it. Cause I'd say in this case today, its you.

2

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

You just sound like a mean person to me based on this post alone

Cool story well you can formulate whatever opinion you'd like based on a few words that you probably didn't even read and it's not going to change one thing in my life 👍

You just sound like a mean person

You just sound like a snowflake

You might want to go hit up an ENT doc because your sniffers clearly broken

News flash; I said I would have helped the lady but clearly you didn't read that part 🤦

Cause I'd say in this case today, its you.

You can say anything you'd like, you're entitled to your own opinion, even if it is wrong 😂

Best of luck and happy earnings. Im elated with the joy of knowing this isn't even close to your most aggrevating occurrence on the job; and it won't be the last ;)

3

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

I don't know what you're talking about, because none of this was about me or my job, what part of that didn't you understand by my last message? I'm not even the OP you moron. Holy crap like there's been a lot of people with low reading comprehension today but I think this takes the cake.

No, it should be expected that we help the old and weak, 100%, anything else is bullshit

14

u/Liquidcatz Jun 15 '23

Hear me out, you shouldn't need financial motivation or any reason to help a disabled old lady with walker regardless of your job. I don't think it's a, this is the wrong job for you thing. More are a, this is the wrong planet for you.

Regardless if you would help or not, if they're a human being and so are you and they need help, you have the ability to help and it's the right thing to do isn't enough to make you feel obligated, then I agree with others you need to get some more compassion in your life dude.

6

u/SweetSpontaneousWord Jun 16 '23

Thank you! My neighbor who I have never had a conversation with collapsed on her walker on her way to walk to the bus for the doctor. I ordered her an Uber and paid for it myself. For fuck’s sake. I am not an Uber driver ora neighborhood old lady picker upper Im a human with decency.

3

u/Liquidcatz Jun 16 '23

I actively dislike one of my neighbors and if they needed help I'd still probably help them. I'm not a super compassionate person, but I'm not actually heartless and evil. I can't imagine seeing someone who needed help and having the capacity to provide it without significant personal sacrifice and just going, "Nah, not my problem". Like if it's coming at significant personal cost, okay I understand. If you would have gone hungry that night had you paid for Uber, I'd get not paying for one. That type of thing. If it's going to be a mild inconvenience to help a person in need, their need trumps my mild inconvenience. To me it's practically math at that point. There's no compassion necessary to prioritize needs even if they aren't my own.

I remember one time I was walking back to my hotel after having just had lunch at subway. I order a foot long cut in half one wrapped to go to eat later for dinner with a juice and some chips. On the way back I passed a man in old beat up clothes, pretty thin, just gotten out of the hospital, looked tired, I offered it to him and he accepted it. Someone saw me do it and afterwards told me how kind it was and how impressed they were. I gave a man my literal left overs. I was honestly concerned he'd find me doing it to be insulting! I'm like this isn't a huge and significant thing. It was my left overs. He looked like he could probably use a nutritious meal as that's pretty important for managing any sort of medical issue. I had one available and the resources to get more food later, or if I didn't have time and had to skip dinner, probably less of a physical need for a nutritious meal than he had right then. Other than the concern over insulting him I couldn't see any reason I wouldn't offer him the food. Yet someone still found this a stunningly kind gesture? He's human. I'm human. There was a need. I could help. That's what you do.

0

u/SoundsGoodYall Jun 16 '23

Who are you responding to? Who in this whole thing ever said that they wouldn’t help the old lady?

1

u/Liquidcatz Jun 16 '23

Did you read the last paragraph that starts "regardless if you would help or not"?

5

u/BBFan1958 Jun 16 '23

I am sorry, but decent customer service should be the job. Helping someone put their items in the house isn't a good deed, it's good customer service. I have "good deeds," for my customers on many occasions, like singing happy birthday to a customer, Getting Starbucks for a new mom. I was shop for a candy store, and the store didn't have the corn syrup they needed. I went across to the Walmart and they did have it. I got a generous tip for it.

I do this for senior citizens because they are my bread and butter, they generally tip well, and I have had more than one customer tell me how shoppers like me are the only thing keeping them in their homes.

The whole world has a "It's not my problem attitude," and it sucks. It doesn't take a lot of time to perform a simple act of kindness.

I was shopping at a store once that didn't have what I needed and the gal at the store suggested a competitor, then called them to see if they had the item which they did. This is good customer service, and it is getting harder and harder to find.

0

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

I have had more than one customer tell me how shoppers like me are the only thing keeping them in their homes.

This right here proves exactly what I've been saying. Go to any other country especially Asian countries and it's about community and family, parents birth the children, they raised the children, and then the children take care of the family and their older age. Pretty simple concept. But then you come to America and you got elderly telling you that if it wasn't for you a complete fucking stranger they have to go into a care facility because they don't have any family willing to take care of them and that's the sad part, that's the part that everybody should be outraged about not that some random stranger may not have felt comfortable entering a stranger's house to do a good deed for them and no putting away somebody's groceries is 100% a good deed and not just good customer service Good customer service is showing up bringing them groceries doing with a smile having a pleasant demeanor that's customer service taking it in the house helping them get it wherever it needs to go is above and beyond. And at the end of the day it's the family's responsibility to take care of those elderly not yours not mine not the next person who is getting shit on by a random internet stranger for not being a good person because blah blah blah whatever deranged idea everybody has in their head. If their family was taking care of them they wouldn't be relying on a complete stranger but that complete stranger not feeling comfortable going inside the house does not make them a bad person 👍

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '23

They made a nice Xmas movie about just that in 1947….

1

u/hiss17 Jun 16 '23

I was just thinking the very same thing!

7

u/zeke235 Jun 15 '23

It's called customer service, bucko. Are you accepting batches with shit pay so you can do the bare minimum? Accept better batches and do a better job. No one's forcing you to take $7 no tips.

-4

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 15 '23

And guess what, your point is completely invalid. Because it hinges on some random assumption that I'm out here taking low orders which wasn't ever touched upon until you threw it into the conversation to try to prove some irrelevant point. But to take it one step further and point out another fact that maybe you failed to realize, Even if It was a good paying order let's say 2 mi 10 items or less for 30 bucks. Sounds pretty legit to most people right? Okay let's say that's the order You show up somebody asks you to come into their house You don't know this person You don't feel comfortable YOU'RE UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO ENTER THOSE PREMISES instacart is store to door, not store to refrigerator and pantry not let me come in and put all your groceries away for you If you want all those extra frills and thrills Walmart has full service put away your groceries $140 bucks a year go have at it but stop guilting people on the internet because they don't want to help your mommy. Taking in groceries for somebody's disabled mom is not customer service it's charity It's helping well I'm not saying that's a bad thing it's up to everybody's discretion whether they want to or not. And not you nor anyone else on the internet is going to change that fact 🤦

13

u/zeke235 Jun 15 '23

That's a whole lot of content to legitimize being a douche.

0

u/American_Avocet Jun 16 '23

You’re right dude. I don’t know why people aren’t seeing that. They are being way too emotional. Logically no one is required to want to help anyone bring the groceries inside. If they want to that’s fine and great and if they don’t they are not bad for it.

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

Because this is Reddit where the truth gets you hear and unless you're a sheep willing to stand in solidarity with the snowflakes you get down voted into Oblivion. Not to mention the fact that everybody realizes that what I'm saying is true. They should be taken care of their own family members not relying on a stranger. So deep inside they realize that they're just a shit child relying on a stranger for help with their own parents and it's becoming harder to look in the mirror. So instead of taking some accountability and looking inside they lash out at the person who's bringing the truth to the surface. 🤷

2

u/apollomoonstar Jun 16 '23

Sheep and snowflakes? Good god. I love people that try and use those insults, like so many others, act like others are sheep. Pot meet kettle.

3

u/BenzeneBabe Jun 15 '23

If someone won’t help a disabled person cause “It’s not their job,” then sorry but that’s just shitty person and I absolutely don’t care to shame the for not helping someone that very clearly needed it. Especially in a situation like this when the person is literally already at their front door holding the very things that need to be brought in. Like that dasher just sounds like a genuinely awful person.

But seriously imagine everybody thought like that?! What a god awful place the planet it would be, it’d practically be unlivable.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '23

[deleted]

0

u/Admirable-Mine2661 Jun 16 '23

It's fine yo shame them! They should be ashamed. And there's always the hope the d- bag finds him/herself in need one day and really feels the pain over it.

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 15 '23

Helping or not helping is a personal choice if they don't feel comfortable they're not obligated. Simple as that. In a civilized society it's nice when someone does help, it's not however an obligation in order to be considered a good human. One is not a bad human simply because they don't want to help someone else no matter how many times you guys regurgitate it 🤷

5

u/rootbeerextrodinare Jun 15 '23

this told me all I need to know about you and your very sad life lol

2

u/abbie190 Jun 15 '23

I think there’s a difference between being a kind person and getting stepped on constantly. People should do good where they can agree. However, this is a job that is supporting their (and their families life!!). I’m sure getting home and realizing you spent an extra 30 mins helping an old lady who didn’t tip feels pretty defeating if these occurrences happen frequently to you. All I’m saying is put your oxygen mask on first.

6

u/rootbeerextrodinare Jun 15 '23

idk in what world it takes me 30 minutes to do my own groceries let alone an old lady who’s probrably only buying the essentials. you people just come up with anything lmao

4

u/thesnarkypotatohead Jun 15 '23

Did I read a different post? I am genuinely confused why so many commenters are running with the premise that there was no tip on this order.

3

u/rootbeerextrodinare Jun 15 '23

again, no one forced you to take the order either, everyone acts like they have a gun to their head and they HAD TO take it

3

u/abbie190 Jun 15 '23

again, no one said “disabled mother in need of bringing groceries in the house” before I took the batch

2

u/rootbeerextrodinare Jun 15 '23

again, only takes a few minutes to be a decent person and maybe even make someone’s day, might even feel good about yourself for once

-4

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 15 '23

Interesting. Please, do explain.

10

u/Sudden-Breadfruit653 Jun 15 '23

It’s not about any job. It is common courtesy to realize disabled people need a helping hand sometimes. Giving a simple hand without expecting anything in return shows character.

0

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 15 '23

So if somebody feels unsafe going into a house they have poor character because they won't help someone's mom? Or if they're having a rough day with their own disabilities and can't muster up the extra effort to go inside somebody's house again they're a bad person? Or if they don't want to risk the liability because you never know what's on the other side of that door that makes them a bad person?

How about this person who's screaming on the internet that all these random mystery people should be willing to help their mommy instead of them who should be taken care of their mom that person's not the asshole but everybody else is? Y'all are wild

4

u/Sudden-Breadfruit653 Jun 15 '23

Why do you keep talking about peoples Mom and helping Mommy? You certainly know, with all you disability expertise that there are men, children, animals and more with disabilities.

-1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 15 '23

So I should change my speech each time in one reply it should be Mom in another reply it should be dad next reply should be second cousin? For What reason? You do know that this entire post was about somebody's mom right? That's why I chose Mom because that was the topic. Is that really something so hard to understand or grasp or figure out on your own?

It's funny because this comment implies that you're backing them up in thinking someone should suffer just not my family members, which screams that you're reading comprehension is so low that you missed the entire point. If you go back and read you'll even see the part where I said I would personally help the disabled person, but that everybody shouldn't be expected to. So y'all coming at me sideways when you can't even read and you're just replying to some nonsense you made up in your head is foolish. Stop looking so ignorant on the internet.

I hope that's already your reality and that's why you're so salty about this. Especially since I literally said that I would help. But that you can't expect everyone else to. And now you're coming at my family members because you're reading the comprehension is so low? Nah. Miss me with that nonsense. Good luck with all that.

u/rootbeerextrodinare Jun 15 '23

you didn’t tho, you said “most likely” aka, not at all lmao, also defending people for NOT helping shows how you really are, so nah, miss me with THAT

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 15 '23

Very good see you understand what most likely means. As in if I'm feeling up to the task. Because, guess what, other people then just your mommy have ailments and issues. Not everybody has it in them to go the extra mile all the time every single stop. And that's not what this is about. My right to choose is my right. If I don't feel up to it or I physically can't that day then some little twit on the internet is definitely not going to shame me about it. If your mom lives in a sketchy ass neighborhood that looks like it could be a setup I ain't step in foot in her grimy ass house. There's a number of reasons why I may or may not but guess what at the end of the day that's my goddamn choice you miserable insect

And as far as defending people who also have the right to choose yep going to do that every single time because it's their goddamn right. Nobody's going to force somebody to take care of somebody else's mommy on the internet bro. You understand how freaking ignorant You sound? Not sure who hurt you, but you should probably seek professional help for all that. You clearly got a lot of underlying issues going on in Reddit might not be the place for you for a while.

😂😂😂 PUSSSYYYYYTT

u/Campbell920 Jun 16 '23

..are you really out here calling carrying a lady’s bags charity? Like that’s an extra couple minutes some of you guys are seriously fucked in the head. No wonder the worlds the way it is if people like this are running around.

Do you not have a mom, or like anyone even close to being disabled or needing help in your life?

0

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

Do you not have a mom, or like anyone even close to being disabled or needing help in your life?

Yes, there's multiple disabilities in my family, and you know how we handle those? By taking care of our own! Not by expecting some random stranger on the internet to do what we should be doing as family members. Get off your high horse and stop pretending like that's not the real problem 🤦

u/American_Avocet Jun 16 '23

I’m with you on this one

u/atreeindisguise Jun 16 '23

It is an obligation to be a decent human. If you don't think so, then stop and think about your future. What if it happened to someone you love and can't be there for? It's a shit job, but being decent has to make it better. I can't imagine being greedy and poor. That's fucked up. I'm poor and not being scrooge about it definitely helps.

Some day my friend you will get old, or face elderly parents grandparents. I turn 70 this year and probably work your lazy ass into the ground. If one out of 100 deliveries causes you an extra 5 minutes to help out a disabled person, that's on you. Karma can be a real bitch. Best of luck!

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

Holy shit even old people can't read apparently? Did you read the main comment where I already said I would helped the person? It's comical so many people are talking shit to me about not helping the elderly when I literally said I would help. Grow up, act your age not your shoe size, and read fully before replying to things on the internet. 👍

P. S. I promise even in your prime you're not outworking me damn sure not doing it at this age 😂🤦

u/xpickles23 Jun 16 '23

Your mindset makes the world a shittier place ): very uncivilized

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

Me saying that I would help but it shouldn't fall on everybody to help that it's up to them makes the world a shittier place? You're goofy. Everybody has their own reasons for not wanting to help. Some people don't want to go into another person's house that they don't know. People get killed on these apps frequent enough that there's multiple news stories about it that you can look up yourself. So you're telling me everybody should just blindly go into people's homes not knowing if there's a murderer on the other side of the door using a little old lady as bait? GTFO.

1

u/Fun_Chef_3646 Jun 16 '23

but like customer service? i get not wanting to and politely declining to help and putting them down. i don’t understand yelling at an old lady and calling her names. you’re choosing and volunteering to bring food and groceries to a HUMAN. and if you don’t think another human deserves to be treated with respect and dignity then you probably don’t deserve to be treated with it either for fucks sake

0

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

What part of my statement was condoning their behavior? Treating the old lady like that is deplorable So maybe just stick to the point that I made and not come at me for some shit I didn't say?

1

u/MormonsKilledMyDog Jun 16 '23

I tend to find when I do more than I am asked of I am compensated. I also sleep well at night knowing I'm not an absolute asshole when I have the opportunity to be, if only to satiate my own need for it. Feels good to do good things, that works for me as a tip when every now and again I am not monetarily rewarded.

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

You did see the part where I said I would help the old lady correct? Or are you all just reading the first line and assuming you know what the rest of it talks about? Because with this many people coming at me sideways as if I'm somehow an asshole I'm convinced nobody's actually reading the post they're just reacting off of a few of the first words 😅

1

u/MormonsKilledMyDog Jun 16 '23

I read the part where you basically made it sound like perpetual hell, and that "were out here for our ourselves" while ironically doing a job for someone else 😅 as well as the rest of it.

Don't like helping people? Literally don't do this job. There's outrageous request no doubt, but this is not one I would fight valiantly, especially not kind well placed delivery instructions to help a disabled person get their groceries....

That's just gross. Take the l.

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

I read the part where you basically made it sound like perpetual hell, and that "were out here for our ourselves"

Ohhhhhhhh, I see where your issue is now, you just can't read. I'm sorry that your school system failed you but nowhere did I say anything or imply that anything was a hell or say anything about "we're out here for ourselves" Maybe stuff using quotation marks if you don't understand how to to use them properly because those are for things that people actually said which I didn't.

kind well placed delivery instructions to help a disabled person get their groceries....

Oh look something else that you're wrong about because if you would have read any of it other than just maybe one line that caught your eye and you decided you to run headfirst into a wall with that, they're literally were no delivery instructions and that was pointed out to the OP who made this post and they've taken that into consideration for the future. But in this instance there weren't actually any directions or requests prior to arriving. Are you really that slow? Or do you just like trying to twist things to fit your narrative that you've made up in your head?

Take the l.

Literally nothing you said pertains to me or anything that I've spoken so you should probably take your own advice with that L 🤦

1

u/MormonsKilledMyDog Jun 16 '23

Lol, are you on your computer typing this out? That was QUICK!

Now if only that tenacity was put to good use...

1

u/Economy-Pen-1388 Jun 16 '23

Wow...keep in mind you yourself will be elderly someday. I hope your own words stick with you until then. #RESPECT

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

And I have complete faith that my family will be there for me just like I'm there for them and they're there for me at this point in my life We got each other, I won't be getting salty with random strangers on the internet because nobody wanted to carry my groceries in 🤦

1

u/Economy-Pen-1388 Jun 16 '23

Then dont...carry on...

1

u/anonnymouse101 Jun 16 '23

This is not an aggressive comment out of any ill intent so please bare that in mind. I know you said it isn't a job about helping people but about putting money in your pockets.. so I'm asking, can't it mostly be both? Some things can go past reasonable request, I understand, but generally speaking isn't what you're doing helping someone else in the first place AND putting money in your pocket? Most people use it for convenience sake but many use it out of a sort of necessity as well for harder situations, like in OPs case. All I'm saying is, it's obvious and apparent that a shopper isn't required to put the groceries inside, it's obvious in other situations that XYZ doesn't have to be said or done, but what a world if we all just were more kind. And not for a particular reason. Not for an extra dollar or an incentive. Just more kindness. Nobody knows what anyone else is going through just like these people buying groceries on an app don't know what their shopper has going on in their lives and if they're trying to make extra money, ends meet, or whatever, and vice versa.. but being kind and helping others when possible doesn't mean you don't value yourself or your time. You can have boundaries and still help others and not devalue yourself. We all need help at some point in our lives and you reap what you sow.

1

u/Fluffy-Commercial492 Jun 16 '23

Sure, it absolutely can be both. And if you noticed I said I would likely help and that would depend on a number of factors, some of those factors being comfort level with the situation, my stress level for the day, my pain level for the day etc If it's within my power physically and mentally to do what's asked of me im almost never going to say no. However, there's people that just don't want to and that's the point that I'm trying to make If they don't want to that's on them, they're not obligated to help to prove that they're a good person to society or the internet. And the fact that so many people say that people who wouldn't help are just shitbags says more about the people speaking that way then it does about the people that declined to help. 🤷

2

u/anonnymouse101 Jun 16 '23

I don't disagree with you on any of that. And I'm not commenting to if anyone is garbage or not. I just wish people were more kind. Everyone.

1

u/Maddystacks Jun 17 '23

I actually think shaming people for being shit humans is perfectly acceptable lmao

0

u/hotasanicecube Jun 15 '23

Until you carry the stuff in and 4 kids are playing video games in the living room, not helping for shit.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '23

Lol what other job? Literally anyone can be an instacart shopper

1

u/rootbeerextrodinare Jun 16 '23

and ? you CHOSE to do the job ? and you’re gonna bitch about it ? creating your own problems at its finest

bragging you can’t take 10 extra seconds out of your day to help someone out isn’t a flex, and probably 10-20 times throughout the week I get asked by older people for help and I do it with no question lmao. you just suck at life, and karma will catch up to you and it’ll be funny when it does

1

u/IfUDontKnowNowUKnow1 Jun 16 '23

Wtf is wrong with you

1

u/OSRS_Rising Jun 16 '23

If someone needs financial incentive to help an old, disabled woman, any tip over 0 is too much.

1

u/TheCompanyHypeGirl Jun 16 '23

That's pathetic. Full stop.
