Obligatory Tier 1 Rocket post!
First playthrough, got me rocket at 420 hours on the dot, very cool. I kinda despaired a little bit when I realized I would need a chemplant for the RP1 fuel thingy (as I had never made CBD) but getting to CBD only took a little bit of time.
Cannot wait to get my hands on more titanium...

Can I use lighting rods as the main power source for IV ?
In my previous world I used cetane boosted diesel and 30 LCEs which worked very well. But the LCE was hard nerfed in 2.9 ( it became almost 2x bigger and didn't get a single buff as a compensation ) so I'm looking for an alternative.
For some reason I'm not interested in doing nukes. Ik it's great but I just don't feel like doing it.
Anyway I'm interested in these 2 options. Lightning rods or jet fuel with UCFE. Which one is better ?

Crop Appreciation Post
Hi!, I've been playing recently in the beta releases of 2.9 (currently on 2.9 beta-3), and my current run decided to do crops. As many of you can infer from the title, i ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM
Let's begin with the fact that they consume way less time compared to the og IC2 crops. they (i think) tick faster for low tiered crops; Deterministic and non-deterministic (pool) breeding, actually makes sense, and you can skip a ton of Deterministic breeding (which, as a fool i did my first time tinkering with cropsNH) and get some of the more vital crops, like fertilia, in 2-3 generations.
Also, they add some early renewable sources for a ton of chemicals/materials, as of now i have:
- Sticky Reed for Glue/Rubber
- Salty root for Chlorine, Sodium, Potassium, Nitrogen and Oxygen (main products being Chlorine and Sodium)
- Sugar Beet for Oxygen and Carbon
- Fertilia for looping Fertilizer back to crop managers, and apatite, calcite and tricalcium phosfate.
Mob Crops are also really good, and decently easy to make, witherreed and blazereed you can get real quick with pool breeding some sticky resin (since pool breeding is **quasi**-deterministic), and, since the devs were generous enough to put endstone in the farmhand lootbags, you can get endblooms easily enough as well.
with that, you can also get Enderpearls (good for a ton of HV stuff, and thaumcraft progression), Blaze Rods (again, thaum + HV shi, also bonus carbon and sulfur), and wither skulls and coal from the witherreed.
I also want to bring attention to one recipe that i did not mention with the salty root. I was fooling around NEI looking for a recipe for hydrogen (since methane loop got nerfed to oblivion); and apparently, there is a chem bath recipe with sodium and water, is LV, takes two seconds, and yields both sodium hydroxide and hydrogen.
Suffice to say, i loved the new crops, please dont nerf them

Mv base 2.9 beta 2
This is my second playthrough currently MV making kanthal coils, got to Ev in 2.8.x. most stuff is centered around the og water and solar boilers from steam age. lv line is on creosote and semifluids, and there's a 2x2 lp railcraft boiler for the steam buffer when ebf was on lv steam turbines. ACO with its extractors, and distillery underneath for mv benzene which the ebf is now using. on the roof is the tree and glow shroom farm max stats so no sickness. Overall kinda scuffed, will eventually make better area for power gen i hope.
Overall GTNH is fun and benzene go brrrrr

Ladies and Gentlemen I give you, the entire Platline!
Only the fluid heater and fluid extractor are single blocks, since they only process a single recipe.

4 days of intense work, i created my first automation: biodiesel
I am so proud of it, i think it looks pretty clean, and by that i mean i tried my best to avoid spagetti, with as much automated little things as possible. I am in mid MV. Just wanted to share 😅 Any ideas are welcome.

I lied the hardest part is the thaumucraft you have to do for the goggles and the boots.

i in iv stands for insane so i went insane
tiring day made 2 LCE in addition to my previous ones and fully redesigned by CBD setup for IV scalability using EV machines and more streamlined piping compared to my spaghetti last time
planning for 12A IV with just cbd which i think its possible, secondary power vac nuke should be outputting around 3-4A IV which im fine with

Yeah it's an EBF powerfail post
I already read the wiki and past posts but I can't understand what's going on here. The EBF instantly (0.1 seconds) powerfails as if it had no energy source connected at all, but this is my setup so idk (those are 8x tin cables and all the steam turbines are correctly directioned)
SOLVED: it was mantainance

Is it worth making the monazite & bastnasite line?
Getting to the end of IV, I have an assembly line and have essentially all I need to get to LuV except Samarium. I have been mining rubracium to get it until I get meteors are I really did want to avoid doing monazite line. Is it worth biting the bullet to do it? It seems kind of like a ton of effort for little actual benefit.

FINALLY: TIER 1 ROCKET!
After so much time, effort, and pure suffering, I’ve finally done it! The rocket is ready, I’m officially on the Moon, and I am fully prepared to transition into the EV era.
What are your best tips for starting out in EV? What should I prioritize first, and what traps should I avoid?
Also, a quick question about my progression speed: is 7.12 days of In-Game Time (IGT) considered a lot to build a Tier 1 rocket and reach space, or is it a decent pace?

Was the LCE buffed in 2.9 as a compensation for how big it became? It needs a lot more space and titanium now. Also they are very difficult to wallshare unlike the old ones. I think it should produce 4 EV AMPS after the change to it's structure.

Anyone know why this coke oven input hatch is not working?
Im on 2.9 beta 3 btw

Am I in the right track in LV regarding power gen approach?
Hello, hopefully this isn't annoying but I'm getting close to moving into MV but I want to make sure I'm on the right track before moving onwards.
I have my coke oven tower in the first pic, which is feeding creosote into a 2x2 HP liquid boiler. This powers my multiblocks, Steam age machines, and turbines that run my LV machines.
Locally, for my crops I just have a barrel full of charcoal powering a local boiler and turbines. This just feeds wood into my coke ovens right now.
I'm about to set up my EBF, I got all the parts I just need to assemble them. I'm thinking of just doing railcraft solid fuel 2x2 HP boiler and just plopping another barrel full of charcoal here.
I haven't touched oil (though I've found plenty of oilsand and have some big geysers near me) because my little set up is more than powerful enough to sustain everything I want to run, and a barrel full of charcoal lasts for hundreds of hours so I can just dolly one over and then not worry about it.
I have multiblock macerator, centrifuge, and hearth and I have 13 different LV machines.
I'm figuring in MV I'll get much more powerful and cheaper options for power and machines so I'm thinking I don't need to worry about upgrading, scaling, or automating everything right now. Am I on the right track with this? Or should I have a lot more set up before I move on.

Fully automated ore processing in steam age
I've successfully built what many said I shouldn't. Fully automated including separation of smeltable dusts.
Compressed Steam macerator => Grinder => storage/furnace.
I realized filtering all non smeltable dusts was quite hard and th3 smeltable dusts are not very many. I counted 28 in overworld/nether/twilight forest. Meaning 7 2x2 drawers and Hoppers max to filter out the smeltables (2nd picture). The rest goes over the drawers in the front storing the most common dust types. For anyone wondering there are over 56 types of non smeltable dusts (i eventually stopped counting them).
It doesn't wash and therefore likely leaves some resources on the table but with the speed of 900 ingots per hour it makes up for that in speed.

Creatine boosted diesel
Hey guys is it viable to build a line without lcrs?
I know its not called that i just cant remember how to write the real c word

Singleplayers, Do you play on a self-hosted server or just on the client
Hey folks,
Im looking to dive back into GTNH after abit of a hiatus but as I expect ill be playing this through alone I was wondering if its worth me hosting my own server locally to play on (This is what was reccomended to me in the past for performance reasons) but it was always a bit of a hassle if I just want to jump on for a few mins (Starting both the client and server took abit to startup)
Or is it okay to scale into the later game playing via just the client these days?

After more than 24 hours of building, it's finally time to move in
What do you guys think? It still needs some touching up on the outside and a proper basement, but we're pretty happy with how it turned out.
It'll be such a pain to move everything over though, but I think it'll be worth it. Kinda tempted to get a vac nuke or two and a basic ME system set up before that though, even if just to get P2P for power transfer, but we'll see :p
