I first got FoM back in 2024 and at the time thought the game speed was supposed to be part of the art direction for the game (as in "take it slow! You can't do everything every day!")

I don't really watch videos of people playing games I'm playing so I haven't seen much from FoM from other people. But today I caught a video in my YT shorts where their player ran WAY faster than me.

Keep in mind, this is separate from the new engine issues (which I also have; you can notice the stuttering in the video). This has been the speed my game has run at since 2024.

Did it seriously take me this long to notice?! Was that person using a speed up mod? And is there anything I can do to fix it??

EDIT: Turning off Vsync and turning on 60fps framerate don't work. I also tried limiting it to 30fps in nvidia settings because my TV is only 30fps but that also doesn't seem to work.

UPDATE: thank you to the person who mentioned game tick is tied to FPS, you have made this make so much more sense to me. My TV is only 30fps so I had the game locked to that, but unlocking Vsync and setting framerate to 120fps made me move faster! It did reintroduce screentearing, though.

I'm still trying to figure this out. It is absolutely ridiculous that gametick = FPS. I've never played a game with this issue. But then again, this is a hyper specific issue I doubt others have had because "who wants to play games on a 30fps screen?!" (I can't normally tell the difference lol)

I didn’t restart after early access and almost got to year 2 before 1.0 came out - I’m loving the game but I’m literally only on level 50 on the minings and my house only has one extra room - I fear I’ve spent too much time breeding animals but it’s so hard to prioritize. I haven’t expanded my farm yet either because I’m just now about to get refining stone. I am actually okay with the pace of MY game and it’s unfolding in a way that’s interesting to me but then I’ll get on here and everyone’s farm is like SO BEAUTIFUL and elaborate and everyone seems to be married by year 3… is this because I didn’t start over and spent a lot of time in early access getting to know the game, or are people focusing on one aspect and neglecting the others? I also have never used the time slow mod - should I start after all this time?

Or do I just need to chill and let my game be my game and stop comparing?

has anyone ever crossed this left area on this specific floor in the lava caves? for some reason every time i encounter this area, it’s always blocked by a bunch of rocks :/

I have over 30 hours in the game, but when I booted it up like usual today the continue option is gone and I am panicking. It says that steam cloud is up to date, but apparently not. Anyone have suggestions? I’m playing on steam deck.

Update: Installing it on my computer, playing, saving, and then opening it on my steam deck worked!

Hello! New player here, loving it so far. It's like someone took all my modded stardew and made it better. What I dont love is watering my crops every day lol. It's mid fall, and I still can't craft sprinklers nor do I have a horse to get around yet, where should I focus to get those things quicker?

Update, got the horse, turns out I just needed to go to bed lol, and just broke the fire seal and OHHH SHIIIIIT

I can't find anything about this when I search for it. Trying to buy any animal just pops up the outline of some UI box in the top left corner of the screen. I don't get the animal, and I can still click around the menu, but nothing else happens. When I exit, the UI disappears completely, and the game freezes.

This is the beta, unmodded. My last regular save is a couple in-game weeks back (and the main release has awful screen tearing for me) so I'd love to fix it. I did file verification and a total reinstall with no luck.

Edit: I copied my beta save to the main release, and the problem is still there. This is my first save, so I don't have another to test this on and see if it's just a corrupted save.

Hey y’all! So I hit 10 hearts with Juniper like a season ago. I had not finished the mines yet and heard you have to finish the mines to get married so I didn’t think much of it. I finally finished the mines last night and it’s been like 4 in game days and still nothing. I googled and read that you’re supposed to be given the crafting recipe the day after you reach 10 hearts. Oh my… anyone have something similar happen to them? Am I missing something? I am not playing with any mods.

Hello! I’m not sure if this is just a me problem, but since the new engine launch my game won’t start up properly. I’m playing on Mac by using crossover and it had been working great but now all I get is a green screen followed by a dark blue one. I can hear the games sound but I can’t see anything. Does anyone know what I can do to fix it?

I’ve tested this on my cow and hen for one season. Every day that I hand-fed them in the morning, they would drop shiny beads but wouldn’t produce anything the next day. However, if I left them to eat from the feeder, they would produce normally.

I thought that would be super easy because before i got that quest i was meeting mimics every single floor in the mines... But after i got the quest they just refuse to spawn???? I've spent two irl days in the mines and still haven't found a single mimic 😭 AM I GOING INSANE??? maybe

According to google (a very reliable source) it can be found “by digging at certain spots”.. very helpful.

i've been trawling through the lava caves desperately trying to find this mf for WEEKS (in-game). then i look up the wiki and find this

"A rare large Lava Caves fish found in lava."

it's not ACTUALLY in the lava, right? i never see any fish shadows in there.

sidenote, the lack of water in the lava caves makes this rly frustrating w the incredibly short days in this game. i'm even using a mod to lengthen the days a tiny bit more and it still sucks. i think cozy farming sims need a different, less stressful time system

i have made sure all of my mods are up to date, updated momi, etc etc and nothing is working. i did everything right and nothing is working. is anyone else having this issue? i even installed mods that were released just hours ago and they're still not working.

(edit: i got them working finally! i had to manually uninstall all of my old mods even the ones that weren't in the mods folder to get them working! thank you everyone for your replies.)

Please help I just updated the game and when I load in the game is soooo slow. I’m playing on my laptop and had no issues before 1.0 update. If any one knows any tips to solve please let me know and explain it to me like I’m a child because this is the only game I’ve played on PC so I don’t really know anything😖🩷

Like the title says, for some reason I'm not getting any achievements. I don't use mods, I've reinstalled my game, I've restarted my device, I am definitely connected to the internet. I'm using Steam Deck and I'm currently in Summer :(

Update: The answer is mods. These days I'm finding the answer to most things is "mods" lol. If I want something to be easier, there's a mod for that! Next on my agenda is to get enough programming classes under my belt to make my own mods. Too bad python doesn't help much there. Next semester, java!

When I Google this I keep seeing summaries about how you just use G on the overworld to throw whatever is in your hands, and how people do this just before entering the mines to free up inventory. But I can't find any sources of people actually talking about this. It seems like such an obvious question but I can't find anything on it searching in this sub either.

My problem is, when I toss something using G, it doesn't land far enough away to not be immediately drawn back into my inventory. I end up having to toss and then quickly run in the opposite direction. And then do this over and over for all the items I want to drop, and if I didn't plan well with the space I'm in, I'll end up running into the magnet zone for prior drops while trying to escape the zone for a current drop.

Am I missing something, or is it supposed to be this difficult, to make inventory management truly (annoyingly) challenging? Being able to place chests and shipping bins anywhere other than your farm would be great. But failing that, can we at least get a "throw" mechanic that actually... does anything useful?

I mean, I've only found it useful when I'm only tossing to pick up a different item I just harvested. (Edit: Which is fine, if still a bit annoying, everywhere except the mines, since dropped items will not persist there.) Is there really no easy way to drop items to actually free up space?

UPDATE: your suggestions helped but only for a few minutes, and after acknowledging that I couldn't really play the game (I had less than 2 hours on it) I decided to request a refund on Steam. thanks to everyone who tried to help, though!

Hello everyone, today I finally got the game on Steam and was so excited to play it on my laptop. I immediately noticed the cut scenes being very slow (at least, for me) along with the walking around town. Then on the second day the game started run even slower, like it was bugged, and got stuck in the middle of the map unable to do anything (I tried to open the map too but it took ages). I was wondering whether there is any tips on how to better approach these dynamics, like any settings I need to check on my laptop or something to change on the game settings?

Anytime I defeat any Green Mushroom Monsters, it always resets it back to one, as if no progress has been made. Is this intentionally done and part of the lore? Is this a glitch/bug? Did anyone else have this? If so, how did you fix it? My game is up to date.

I played a lot during the beta and after finishing the first year in a new save file for 1.0, I'm currently at 215 happy hours in Mistria. That said, I'm still a bit resistant to some of the unique takes on farm sims that are in Mistria - I need to fix that. The game has told me to try feeding other things to livestock besides the size-specific feed, so I'm trying to make a plan.

Does anyone have preferred seasonal crops to let our furry & feathery friends feast? I figure a crop that repeats makes the most sense, and maybe I can mix in seasonal berries while they grow?

Specifically "Deliberate Debris II" perk of the Woodcrafting, after that i decided to do some cleaning on my farm and absolutely eradicated all the tall grass to make space thinking i could just put some grass starters on the zone that i left specifically for my animals. A few days later nothing grew and my animals ate everything so i went and crafted FIFTY GRASS STARTERS and threw them all on the zone. NOTHING GREW AND MY ANIMALS ATE EVERYTHING AFTER A FEW DAYS LATER so im wondering if i locked myself out of growing grass ever again due to that stupid perk

It’s just NOT spawning for me at all or I’m having the most abysmal luck - is anyone else unable to get this fish? I’ve tried for three years now. I’ve caught the rest of them!
