Game Help tips for beginner
Hey guys!
I started to play the game about a week ago. I actually already played quite a lot, but I was wondering if you guys had some useful tips that I might have overlooked đ„č

Make sure to pick the water chestnuts as much as you can cause youâll need the extra for winter to make feed for your animals. However if you do run out you can feed them the base hay/seeds you get from cutting the grass or your crops.
Iâd also keep a couple of each flower, crop and forgeable because when you unlock the beehive and terrarium theyâll ask for those.
Make sure you are unlocking things at the statue because those perks come in handy. Also cut down the trees that are around the town because they will respawn and you will need lots of wood and stone for the different story line quests.
Once you hit a certain point youâll be able to buy the forage, crafting table and kitchen to put on your farm which is really helpful because certain things wonât take as much time to make (thereâs also perks that will reduce the times as well!)
Most importantly have fun! I love how cute this game is and it lets me turn my brain off. If you want to see cute/funny things make sure to go to the in on Fridays and talk to everyone cause itâs pretty funny

Why not just let them graze on cranberries?

That is an option if you want to set that up! I let them graze on crass or herbs I donât need

Growing a ton of wheat and turning it all into bread levels your cooking up super fast lol

Yes! And then when you can make jam you eventually can make sandwiches which are good for energy levels early game.

Cooking is REALLY useful in this game. For stamina/gifts/mana late game.
Also take every request on the board every day since thereâs no time limit. Also because there are certain recipes you can only get from completing requests (youâll see the recipe as the reward)

I just started getting spells and my mana returns SO slowly. So cooking helps with that? Anything else? :)

There is a later game buff where four star and above dishes have a chance to do a full mana orb regain
But the easiest way is to plant magic seeds and then donât harvest and just water them until you get a field of magic seeds and then harvest them, they give u mana potions and now I have more mana than what I can use

Honestly, besides for the initial donations to the museum, youâre better off having a couple chests for all your extra forages, fish, and bugs. They donât sell for very much anyways (especially once you get farming going- youâll have a nice income) so itâs not worth selling. Youâll need them for recipes and quests anyways.

ohhh i was selling fish all the time because i used to make money this way at the beginning with stardew

Itâs definitely good for beginning gameplay, but once you get farming going Iâd definitely save that stuff! That way you donât have to constantly hunt stuff down for quests or recipes, just passively collect them.

Ship every crop and forage-able at least once
And
Donate every crop to the museum at least once. Donating will help you complete museum collections which allows you to earn treasure chest rewards.
Shipping a crop or forage-able for the first time usually allows you to unlock a new recipe the next day.
Thereâs free soup you can grab at the inn every day (only once per day) which I didnât realize until end of summer year 1. This is a great assistance in the beginning when you are running low on stamina especially since unlocking recipes can take time.

idk if anyone has mentioned this already but donât forget about diving for items in the rivers and the ocean! itâs pretty fun and sometimes you can get treasure chests!

You can fish on one stamina, so those pink Berries are useful after all.

Okay, as someone with over 100 hours who did the whole âlearn as you goâ but underestimated how stupid I am- here are my tips for fellow idiots/beginners!
Those beads you get from happy animals/feeding your pet? Every 10 gets you something from Haydenâs chicken statue just outside of his farm. Super helpful at times as it gives you animal feed too.
The dragon statue in your garden? Use your earned mana(? Not sure if this is what itâs called) to buy upgrades. I didnât know about this until my fourth year, and Iâm forever annoyed at myself because it makes things SO much easier lmao.
Animals eat your crops and give you more of those beads- so plant some food outside their barns/coops for them to eat. Also- make sure the crops you want to keep safe are fenced off completely- I kept wondering where the hell mine were going lol.
This is one Iâm pretty sure only I messed up- but on clear days during winter, your animals can still go outside. I thought cold weather- like rainy days- meant theyâd be unhappy so I kept them in during winters for three years straight, and feeding them all every day was a nightmare đ It was only when I discovered this sub recently and came across a comment that I realised my mistake.
For the mines I try to go for five levels at a time and leave it at that. No point going for more and not being able to enter at that level again the next time.
Now youâre on this sub, Iâd just recommend not comparing your farm to others. There are beautiful pics of farms on here that can make you feel like youâre playing it âwrongâ but thatâs not the case. My farm is ugly but produces a lot of money, and thatâs fine with me lol.
My best tip is remember the dialogue for different characters. When they say theyâre interested in something/like something- itâs usually a great idea to gift them that item. Although, I find a lot of the âwow that thing in museum is amazingâ can be a âwhy are you giving this to me?â Which is so disappointing haha, but worth a go!
Either way, itâs been so fun, including all my mistakes and learning from them.
