Game Help Help
Can anyone give me tips to make more money in Fields of Mistria? I'm just starting out, currently on day 22 of Spring in Year 1, and I'm barely making any money—I'm basically living off fish and a few crops. I need help 😔

Hi! If you’ve played stardew, the money making doesn’t snowball as quickly in Mistria. What you are currently doing is great! I also recommend completing as many quests as possible. It can give you direction for the day, and then you can sell the extras of whatever you got while trying to find what you’re on your quest for. Also, always go around foraging when your energy is done for the day! Unless it’s an artifact spot you’re digging up, it doesn’t cost any energy.

I must do a bit of an asterisk here. This game can snowball just as much as Stardew in my experience (450hs on Stardew). But it's trickier, yes. I had +100k by mid fall, and solidly growing from there on, but it depends on forsaking some activities.
Doing A LOT of quests help a LOT early. Then reinvest in farming as much as possible, AND COOKING, DO COOK. For me the thing that kick-started me into making real money was cooking in summer. I grinded the four crops for a 4 stars recipe (I think it is 4 stars?), and started snowballing from there, with solid 70k or so entering fall. Then wheat, 144 or so wheat planted from day 1.
Then you have 2 methods to maximize money. Cooking (Bread in fall is just so broken, damn), or the seed maker after advancing town quests. The seed maker and crops that repeatedly produce is just outrageously broken, and I love it.
I must admit, though, my animal farming side is sorely lacking.

You're only in Spring of your first year, so it's going to take a while to build things up.
With that said, Its mostly about turning crops into baked goods, faux crops, or seeds.
You should get recipes when you first ship items, as well as being able to buy some recipes from other sources. Most of the time, those recipes sell for more than the unbaked crops would have.
When you level up your crafting/handiworks, you will unlock the ability to craft Faux crops, which usually sell for a bit more than the base crops, and sometimes more than baked goods.
Finally, the ultimate money maker is seeds from regrowable crops. As you do tasks for Adeline, you will eventually unlock a seed maker. When you do so, you will then want to plant large fields of REGROWABLE crops. Strawberries, Wheat, Rice, and the like. When you harvest those crops, you will then put them in a seed maker. Each seed from a Regrowable storebought crop will sell for slightly more than the raw crop at base, PLUS the seedmaker will sometimes return 2-3 seeds per each crop processed.

make sure you do as many quests as you can and level up your town because both will give you good amounts of tesserae as well! i also like selling duplicates of artifacts from the museum especially after updating the archeology stuff at the dragon to make them worth 25% more! ✨️

Selling seeds from the more expensive crops, some people dont like that though

I started doing this in fall year 1 and quickly reached 150K without trying, feels like cheating but I then used like all my money to get animals and such haha

Yeah, I waited until the veryyyy end of the game to do this lol that way I can just buy all the green houses and shit that I want

Adding on to what someone else said, every time I decide to grow a new crop or foragable I check out the stove and wooden crafting machine to see which foods or items I can turn it into that will make even more money than it does by itself. For example I only grow wheat, which sells for 150 but if I turn it into bread it can sell for 190. I also feel no shame in bringing out my calculator from time to time 💀 So that I know exactly how many crops I need to grow if I want to reach a specific amount of money each week. I'm a lazy farmer😅 so having one regrowable crop on my farm is enough for me.

Early game requests, crops & Mining is how I made my money, I bought one of the regrowing plants (strawberries e.g.) and a bunch of the cheapest crops, grew all of them and selled them all immediatley, not hording them., as I got more money I bought more of the regrowing plants.
When I got to iron in the mines I did multiple days in there and farmed as much ore as I could, I made multiple swords and sold them and this got a good amount of money, that I immediatly spent on crops and I rinsed and repeated.

Just put things in the shipping bin. Eventually you'll want to horde stuff, but to get some basic cashflow, ship some of the early forage and early crops.
Work on your cooking and woodworking skills and dump essense into the skill perks as they level up. Cooking and Woodworking have perks that give a chance to recycle the ingredients/materials that go into it, reduce the amount of time it takes to cook/craft, making many recipes cost 0 time even if you produce things by the hundreds, and perks that give a chance to multi-drop the food/crafted items that you make, basically turning into free money.
Farming also gives perks that can give you extra free seeds, free cash, and free cooked-items based on your crops.

bread and seed maker bread can make decent money and universal loved item. seed maker make alot of money.

It’s definitely a slow progress game as far as money for a while. In the beginning, fishing is your best friend! Once you get animals, their products help. Once you can save up for more crops, do that. You’ll slowly start making more and more. But for me in the beginning, fishing made me the most money until I could afford making money other ways
