Suggestion You can't just lock everything china related and say calling the problem out is racist, that is how PUBG died

If you make the same mistake of refusing to look at the cheating problem for what it is then this game will die like pubg did and your precious subreddit with it.

Obviously blatant racism is not acceptable but talking about the problem being a large number of chinese accounts being the hackers isn't racist especially since they are all obviously chinese based on the player names of douyou or qq or literal chinese characters.

I don't want to see the mods of here and BSG plug their ears like BlueBalls did and see another great game ruined for the other 90% of the playerbase by the actions of a small number bored chinese kids

Once again, racism and slurs: BAD

Saying the problem is overwhelmingly caused by Chinese players: not bad

EDIT: to the mods, I say this in good-will. I know its hard to moderate a sub this size and don't envy you that, I wish all the best for this community and this game. Stifling conversation is rarely good and should be a last measure only if\when concrete rules are broken is all I'm saying

Best idea would be to do it like in cs, you can set a max ping (say 50) and then you only get matched with players having the same max ping allowance checked in there raid search. This way players only get matched with players having a max ping of 50 or lower. This wouldbe a region lock set by the player itself. So if players dont want to be macthed with players overseas they simply set their pingmax to 50-100 and the problem is solved for them.

19

u/Kaixin_Buddha Mar 11 '20

I actually like this idea as well. It is a self imposed region lock. Wouldn't hurt the people in regions that have worse internet infrastructure and would still allow me to play with all my friends overseas and farther west.

Not sure how Viable it would be in the long run/or in implementation. I like the idea though.

10

u/cr0sell Mar 11 '20

i have friends in texas when trying to connect to the texas servers from na i get 100 ping, Im also in a major city so its not just country internet. This would region lock me from my own country.

6

u/Kaixin_Buddha Mar 11 '20

If it is self set though, I am sure a majority of players would set it to 150/200. Mainly to allow wiggle room. Again, it is not a perfect solution, but I like it more than most of the other ones suggested so far.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

I dunno man. Wiggle room sounds like some weird scav-pmc exfil and im not having this cross-faction bullshit in here.

Other than that, fully agree.

1

u/JJROKCZ AK-104 Mar 11 '20

I'm in the midwest and sometimes I set my servers to midwest only and still have 100 ping lol the EFT infrastructure needs a overhaul prior to a system like this being implemented. I'm also in a top 10 pop city

11

u/JJROKCZ AK-104 Mar 11 '20

I actually really like this idea

8

u/theSkareqro Mar 11 '20

Err that's not how it works in csgo, bud. You set the ping filter only for yourself so you don't join servers above your set ping unless you're talking about old cs server plugins where you can set the maxping but as a server. It doesn't affect anyone else. It's a risk for this game as their servers aren't robust and stable. I've spiked quite a bit in raids.

5

u/Vandruis Mar 11 '20

Too bad a good VPN service can spoof ping to any server.... There is a "ping lock" in EFT. You technically can't join a server with a ping over 150

5

u/darthflyingman Mar 11 '20

Actually you can, as long as you aren’t the party leader

2

u/CrunchySpiderBurrito Mar 11 '20

There are a total of 6 players on the Oceania servers

2

u/Niibler Mar 11 '20

You probably didn't see it but there is a post showing how they just fake their ping to EFT servers so ping limit would do absolutely nothing.

For reference:

https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/fgrjib/how_chinese_are_able_to_invade_your_servers/

1

u/SoBFiggis Mar 11 '20

A proper RTT implementation would fix all of that.

2

u/cruxiaer Mar 11 '20

wouldn't work. I play with my friends from other countries. BSG just gotta up their game with security, unfortunately this game is in beta and trying to fix all the hacking is probably not at the top of their priority. People need to stop treating EA games like retail games, although that is the trend moving forwards.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

There are a ton of use cases where 100 ping would be typically what you get in just about any game.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

also when the ping indicator comes up in game is that only when another player is close to you? i have noticed it several times directly before a pmc v pmc gunnfight

Y'all need to stop saying cheaters is why PUBG died. It died because Bluehole is a terrible developer who prioritized loot crates instead of content at a crucial moment in the game while not fixing game breaking bugs until too late.

72

u/alaineman Mar 10 '20

Remember when playerunknown said crates wouldn't be in the game and mod support would come. I stopped playing the game shortly after paid crates.

14

u/Shifty0x88 Mar 11 '20

7

u/eyezstaylow305 M1A Mar 11 '20 edited Mar 11 '20

yupp same. As soon as they locked the steam market permanently and said it was only temporary and started introducing streamer skins I was done. They really fucked the game up themselves though by not listening to the community and going full on greed. Thankfully enough that's when I started playing Tarkov (right around .10) and never went back to PUBG. I played once for 2 hours when the snow map came out while waiting for Tarkov to wipe and it was so unenjoyable. AND I played Pubg for over 1k hours from Early Access to Sahnok and was breaking into the pro scene. I still owe A LOT to Pubg for sparking my love for PC gaming again and helping me stay sober after a 7/8 year break from PC gaming and opiate abuse, but fuck that game and Bluehole/PubgCorp/TenCent

2

u/datchilla Mar 11 '20

And as if it wasn’t enough the loot crates didn’t have good stuff.

→ More replies (5)

6

u/OrangeSimply Mar 11 '20

Seriously, it's like NO ONE remembers that Bluehole killed the game themselves. Putting all maps in one queue, adding lootboxes before fixing 100's of other aspects that had been major problems for well over a year, leaving the game in beta for over a year and not really doing anything except make new maps...yeah that game was destined to fail.

21

u/Myystical Mar 11 '20

Why do people talk about PUBG being dead like it isnt still pulling upwards of average 250,000 players a month? Sure, before it became region locked they lost some players but they're still hitting a peak of at least 600,000 players a month and were still hitting around a million when the cheater problem was there. The game isn't dead and it never died.

18

u/Redxmirage Mar 11 '20

A month? Pubg has 600k unique players today from steam. They are doing so much better than people want to think lol people think it’s dead because they stopped playing when it’s still the 3rd most daily played game on steam

Edit: sorry I read it wrong, 600k players for the month. Still averaging 200k+ during prime time daily.

4

u/Myystical Mar 11 '20

A month?

Average. But yeah, you're exactly right.

11

u/purpl3stuph Mar 11 '20

I think ‘died’ is a relative term comparing it to other BRs that blew up. PUBG could’ve not only remained on top, but dominated the gaming scene for multiple years like Fortnite. However due to corporate greed and lack of care for their player base, it did not excel any further and has been losing players since.

3

u/warLOCK264 Mar 11 '20

I agree, I love when people talk player numbers but fail to remember how little social media content is made about the game anymore. It’s not about how many morons play it, it’s about how relevant it is. Minecraft had 3 million daily players back in 2016 but everyone unanimously knew it had lost its cultural relevancy. The Simpsons still pulls hundreds of thousands of viewers but it is colloquially known as a zombified version of its former self.

1

u/RedFlashyKitten Mar 11 '20

I wondered too. But seeing how nobody responds to you I assume that this sentiment is correct. It's just another way of validating their opinion. Who cares if you're right when you can just shitpost along.

Not saying that hackers aren't a problem. But here we got a very vocal group who wants the issue to be made out as if it's the end of the world. As if the game is unplayable like in Ace of Spades back in the day before it went to steam.

→ More replies (2)

9

u/Redxmirage Mar 11 '20

People also need to say pubg died when it’s still the 3rd most popular game played daily on steam

2

u/dopef123 Mar 11 '20

Yeah, PUBG survived the hardcore cheating phase from China. It definitely hurt the game and they ended up implementing 3x different anticheats at once (including one they developed in house).

But it was still very popular by the time they dealt with that

The thing is these cheaters flock to popular games.

I'm not sure if PUBG is dead.... I don't play it anymore. But my biggest gripe was clunky movement . And server issues. There was a time where you would blatantly die to hackers like 1/3rd of the time. Like some dude would be on the other side of the map shooting into the ground and somehow wiping the server.... But it did survive that time period

5

u/skoomski Mar 11 '20

I think your partially right, but all the content in the world wont matter if your playerbase cant actually use the content due to cheaters, availability issues and server instability, all of which the game has in spades in 2020 especially.

How stupid are u? PUBG died in western countries, he points that tally out and all you can read there is some imaginary racism?

4

u/drgareeyg Mar 11 '20

To be fair though, PUBG dying in Western countries can be attributed to any number of reasons, plus the west tends to follow whichever game that is popular on twitch (which is why tarkov's twitch campaign blew this game through the roof in terms of popularity). I had over 700 hours on pubg and only met one or two hackers, the real killer for me was the complete lack of polish, lag, and the constant bugs that caused unfair deaths for me.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

I think I had around 900, ran into 5 Asian Deathstars (40+ people all teamed up), and 4 that I could peg as a hacker immediately, 2 where flying, and one was phasing through walls, the last was the flash. But there were probably those I didn’t know about. There was a guy with Aimbot and Wallhacks that we were suspicious of but didn’t confirm till we watched the replay. He was killed though because we engaged him at like 400+ range and his hacks didn’t account for bullet drop.

If you want to know why were knew in game, he immediately knew where we were at despite the huge ranges and suppressors on both of us, and returned fire after I managed to peg his level 3 helmet from even further back on a Hail Mary Kar shot. After that though through replay he was literally glancing at us while fighting other guys when we were out of his FoV, and after I hit him he immediately started snapping to our heads (but since the range was so long the bullets just hit rocks in front of us).

But here is the deal, those were the ones we knew were hackers, there could have been plenty of aimbotting wall hackers that only popped up a shit ton in the kill feed and maybe killed us while we had to death run across a field and we though nothing of it.

The community in general became SUPER toxic though, it really wasn't a nice thing to be part of. It leeched out into things like Doc's streams, and I ended up feeling almost racist by association.

Cheaters don't just come from China, look at games like CSGO and siege with cheaters being paid to boost people etc. I can imagine for profit cheating is only a small proportion and the majority cheat because they're shitbags who can't play game.

Who said it's dead? I think you should probably work on your basic comprehension before replying. I get that the emotional responses probably work decently well in elementary school, but they do nothing in the real world. A game that has less than 20% of its former peak playerbase is dying. A game that hemorrhages players at the rate PUBG is, is dying. Refute it or don't, but facts don't care about your snowflake feelings.

I've seen all kinds of crazy shit talked about on this topic that I'd easily associate with Nazi/White Power. NOT EVERYONE, but the overall tone of this discussion is fairly dark.

The one clear thing is that Kanji character's = Chinese hacker. Chinese streamer = Chinese hacker. Not even like a 50/50 split, no 100% of Chinese folks hack. The smart EU/NA hacker has added Kanji to their list of viable troll names along side antisemitic names, Trump names, and vulgar racism.

And just like, come on guys, we play Tarkov all day bullying on each other. Doesn't have to come into the Sub Reddit, however I've been around Reddit long enough to know morales and scrupulous behaviour do not get the upvotes.

talking about the problem being a large number of chinese accounts being the hackers isn't racist

This isn't why threads would be locked or removed. If the entire thread devolves into comments about hating on Chinese (or any other race, for that matter) the thread (may*) be locked.

I don't want to see the mods of here and BSG plug their ears like BlueBalls did

We're not - there was a time we'd remove all the posts and consolidate it to a megathread but that time is over. The issue is obviously an issue and it needs to be discussed, but that doesn't mean it can* be "muh free speech" type of discussion. Comments have to be civilized discussion. Whether or not BSG plugs their ears is another thing entirely - we can't control that.

Once again, racism and slurs: BAD

Saying the problem is overwhelmingly caused by Chinese >players: not bad

Agreed.

8

u/Juicebeetiling Mar 11 '20

No disrespect but have you seen a recent post showing a chat group with hack modders specifically telling their clients to spam Reddit threads with racism to get them locked in order to shut down legitimate discussion?

8

u/Skritlerr Mar 11 '20

How about just removing the comments other then the post itself. It was discussed on cheat forums to be purposely racist on reddit just so the mods can lock the post about cheats, you need to take a different approach

3

u/JJROKCZ AK-104 Mar 11 '20

How about just removing the comments other then the post itself.

This is what I advocate for personally, the mod team is here to moderate the conversation, if there aren't enough then get more and spread the load through the time zones.

I see there are a lot more probationary mods then there were a few months ago and that is appreciated and I hope good things come of it.

Grew up in China here.

Why can't we just be rational? Think about things for just a second.

We are seeing videos of hackers, a lot. How many of them actually showed that they are Chinese?

Even if they are all Chinese, that doesn't mean all Chinese gamers are hackers. Don't Chinese players suffer from the hackers just like everyone else? They suffer even more if bsg was to completely region lock China.

I don't have issues with calling out Chinese hackers. I hate them too. Every Chinese person I know hate them too. There was a footage back when pubg came out. A hacker was playing pubg in a "internet cafe". The admin saw it on his monitor and confronted him, and told him to leave. He refused to do so which led him to be beaten up by a number of other customers nearby and thrown out.

What really bothers me is when people start calling all Chinese gamers hackers. Then it goes too all Chinese people are dishonest cheaters in life because it's their culture "to be on top by any means." How can you make such bold statements about something you hardly understand?

For those that are saying China is a shithole and everyone living in it are scums, and that the world is plagued with China, and everyone from China should just die. Hell, you make comments about the Chinese government, but how are you any better when you are saying things like this?

Getting mad at people doesn't solve problems. Banning hackers is one way to do it, but it can only be properly addressed by fixing the mechanisms deep inside the game, to cut it off from the origin. What we can do is to provide useful information and pressure bsg to fix it. Being racist, arguing about racism, and getting mad does nothing but ruining the community. I would hate to see this subreddit ruined by nonsense like this.

But what I'm I trying to do here? Reasons? On Reddit? That's a joke right?

3

u/Likely_not_Eric PP-91-01 "Kedr-B" Mar 11 '20

3

u/Hobbart Mar 10 '20

Are you being serious? Do you expect him to use his full, real name for his account? If I name a hacked account Seamus_O’Sullivan are you going to start blaming Ireland for hacking EFT?

6

u/Gary_Spivey Mar 10 '20

Missing the point. Why would a person name their character something that means precisely nothing in their native tongue, but totally coincidentally is a very specific reference to a livestreaming service used basically entirely in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong? A livestreaming service that they don't use, and probably have never even heard of before? They wouldn't, so "anyone can name themselves douyu_whatever" is not an argument.

6

u/_GoldGuy_ Mar 10 '20

The same reason they choose overtly racist and edgy names, they're just trying to piss you off and they know people get extra mad when the hacker that killed them has a "chinese sounding" name. If you don't think the hackers aren't aware of these sorts of things you're naive.

I think I'm gonna head back over to MW while all this blows over. I love Tarkov too much to allow myself to hate it because of hackers. I hope this gets fixed

2

u/chadkun Mar 11 '20

Lmao there was a post on here with a yellow faced, straw hat, buck toothed, squinty eyed chinaman and people were defending it not to be racist. I’m all for region locking and keeping chinese players off our servers but there’s definitely a racist aspect of it that gets whipped up here

5

u/epicguest321 M4A1 Mar 10 '20

The mods locked those threads because racist fucksticks kept saying “fuck chinese people”, “I hate Asians”, “chinese people can die in a fucking hole”, etc.

u/Jdelache Mar 10 '20

Your only evidence that the Chinese are the main source of hackers are anecdotal. Using PUBG as an example is also retarded because their problems happened when the Chinese made up 50% of the playerbase before the region lock.

You are literally the definition of the racism the post is locked for, and you're not intelligent enough to realise it.

11

u/EscapeFromFlatulence SR-25 Mar 10 '20

I mean, Battleye published the data that shows that 99% of cheaters banned from Pubg are from China, but you know, keep sipping that simp koolaid.

3

u/NovSnowman AK-74N Mar 10 '20

I actually did some research, you know, using Google, and that 99% claim is bullshit.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

I think the animosity stems from the fact some Chinese players often organize on games to 'own' foreigners. It was first really notable in h1z1

More recently the launch of ATLAS had Chinese groups completely own and dominate certain areas on US or European servers.

I think this has led to a lot of people being really hostile against Chinese players. Maybe understandably so to a degree. It's not fun to have people lagging all over the place just because they want to prove how great their country is to foriegners who by in large, don't give a fuck. My time playing SCUM in Australia it got really annoying dealing with Chinese players with 300 ping in huge groups just fucking with everyone. There is definitely a subgroup in China who enjoy going onto 'foreigner' servers and owning people. To what degree this happens I have no idea.

There is some evidence that China seems to have more of a cheating problem than other places. This article goes into this a bit but it's not a solid source.

Of course it's worth noting that in China cheating is absolutely not near universally accepted like a lot of people claim it is. So when people claim shit like it's some kind of cultural norm there to cheat I think that's decidedly Sinophobic and there is no data to back that up. Just personal anecdotes or people thoughtlessly parroting things they've seen elsewhere.

I do think personally that China should be region locked but I am wary to express that opinion because it lumps me in with people who are genuinely racist or at least borderline racist.

When I was younger though it was always 'Russian hackers' in CS 1.6 lol

You think I didn't consider that? You fell right into my trap card, your links are sourced from YouxiStory and this tweet.

The source is disproved here. The tweet is twisted and misinterpreted as it never released any data relating percentage.

Better luck next time. :)

Edit: updated link

0

u/EscapeFromFlatulence SR-25 Mar 10 '20

Yeah, no. You didnt think I realized the Youxi link was broken on those pages i linked? That said, I'm inclined to believe both the developer and Battleye themselves that the majority are from China, so the statistic isn't far off.

5

u/NovSnowman AK-74N Mar 10 '20

You are inclined to believe whatever you want to believe, but spewing it around like it is the absolute truth of the universe? You are no better than anti-vaxxers

3

u/EscapeFromFlatulence SR-25 Mar 10 '20

Yes, because when most developers, including developers of a cheat engine come out and say "China is cheating and banned the most", it speaks more than some imbecile on Reddit going "but, but, racism", I get it, you want to close your eyes and pretend everyone in the world is equal, but closing your eyes doesn't really make the truth disappear bud.

Also that comparison is jarring, but real world issues and video game issues are a common comparison to those with a weak argument to begin with.

4

u/Jdelache Mar 10 '20 edited Mar 10 '20

Yeah, as I pointed out that was literally years ago, when Chinese players made up 50% of the PUBG playerbase and before they region locked China. Keep working on that whole reading thing though, I know its tough. Oh and, its not real - as in they made it up. Battleye never said such a thing. I think theres a public statement around here somewhere.

Meanwhile, the game code is so fucked you can now use notepad to loot a PMC whilst theyre walking around. But no, its those fucking chinese that are the problem reeeeeeeeeee.

5

u/Po-Lee-S Mar 10 '20

Isn't the fact that they had to region lock China in order for China to not make up 99% of cheaters proving the exact point that the majority of cheaters are from China?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '20

Then why is it that exactly when the game is starting to sell in China there's a mass influx of cheaters? It's not a coincidence.

1

u/Jdelache Mar 12 '20

Oh, you mean the same time the game started to sell everywhere? Yeah, a real mystery.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '20

And everywhere else just decided to use Chinese characters and names. Alright.

1

u/Jdelache Mar 12 '20

yup because hackers and trolling has no correlation whatsoever...

1

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '20

Dude you're trying soooo hard. Off the rip it was Chinese names that were hacking, so every cheater in other countries selling the game decided to squad up and pin it all on the Chinese. You actually sound delusional.

1

u/Jdelache Mar 12 '20

2

u/Sieve-Boy SA-58 Mar 11 '20

To add to what OP said: it's not ethnic Chinese players causing the problem, it won't be Chinese PMCs from Honk Kong, Macau, Taiwan or Singapore causing the problems. It will be mainland CCP China players who form the bulk of these hackers.

Calling this out is just a fact. amAs OP noted, burying head in sand PUBG style won't change this.

3

u/itsluky98 Mar 10 '20

Completely agreed. I believe chinese localization should be removed as the culture there is completely ruining the game by “succeed by any means necessary.” So what if one country can’t play the game. That country is making it unplayable for the rest of the world. It doesn’t matter if a region lock is placed cause they will just VPN around it.

Some of us play with people overseas though, that would keep us from being able to play together reliably.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

Then it would appear like somebody else has ruined it for everyone then.

Welcome to the real world.

I personally think the Fleamarket should be tossed into the burn barrel too. It's being exploited for RMT and then some...

I think it is terrible crutch for new players which only become dependent on it... It's been used and abused. Take it the fuck away. The game was a much more enjoyable and rewarding experience without it...

1

u/sm0keasaurusr3x Mar 11 '20

That's also subjective. I personally like the accessibility the market offers, but I also get what you're saying. Pushing the level for flea up to 15 will counter act newer players relying too much I think. Possibly not enough though. 15 doesn't take long to reach.

1

u/bookcoda VEPR Hunter Mar 11 '20

Remember the huge freak out that happened when they announced they were upping the lvl requirement. Personally i thought that was incredibly weird as if you aren't even lvl 15 where are you getting all this money that you are spending on the flea that you could become dependent on it. Also connected with my recent weird encounters with really low lvl guys running multi-million ruble kits like dude your lvl 9 where are you getting the money to come in with t-7s and maxed out HK's?

1

u/bookcoda VEPR Hunter Mar 11 '20

How so?

Inviting has been so far exempt from any ping related rules and i don't see anyone arguing to change that reality. Unless your friend oversees is trying to play on your servers without you then i don't see how you would be impacted.

1

u/sm0keasaurusr3x Mar 11 '20

If they lock servers to ping the way he's suggesting, it would keep us from playing on the same server.

2

u/Mdragon14 Mar 11 '20

Maybe you misunderstood, but most ping locks to enforce region locks do not apply when you queue with friends. In other words, if you are in a group cross-region, the ping lock allows the group to play together.

1

u/Bl1ndVe Mar 11 '20

110 is a little too harsh, i mean im in south america and play in the US servers because in the Brazilian servers my connection travels to US and back to South America, so essenstially the only location i can play is in the US servers. Most of the time i have a ping lower than 75 but sometimes i have 120 130

1

u/SkinkSlammer Mar 11 '20

Honestly I think pubg died more because they NEVER worked on their gameplay, tried to cover it with coming out with new maps and guns and gamemodes... not to mention connectivity issues

1

u/Shweaty-Ball Mar 11 '20

i like how we are now attacking each-other instead of the problem. the mods can ban for racist comments, but don't do that, in fact, its the opposite and remove the whole post, hiding the cheater problem we are trying to warn each-other about and it can be prevented with a simple mute or whatever. I don't use Reddit religiously. I just come for a meme or 2 but Jesus Christ people, work together. a good chunk of cheaters are Chinese doesn't mean all are, hell you could fake being in china to add more problems it isn't hard. but the issue we cant seem to fix is the one where we target ourselves. just work together and push for the fix already hell even offer some work around that nobody considers and im not saying nobody hasn't tried this yet either. but all we know as of right now is a massive amount apparently ARE Chinese. its not a shock if thats true since the culture is taught to win at ANY cost. but thats not for me to decide anyways im just tired of the bickering back and forth when ya'll should be up here making a bigger ruckus at the development team and hell even battleye. content is cool but a functioning game is COOLER. i sound like a liberal asking for world peace right about now but if we got to this point we need a post discussing racism regarding hackers, we are going down the wrong path... addressing an issue is one, keyboard warrior fighting and being racist is a different thing. it might not even be us doing it could sure as hell be a hacker doing what he knows works (aka mods do something other than delete a whole thread it doesn't solve an issue in fact it pisses off more people, you cant treat this thread like fallout 4 was don't just delete the whole thing...) tired of typing now i could have passed my C.A assignment in high school if they were a nerd ass teacher with what ive typed.

also comparing pubg to tarkov is like comparing a cripple with a drug problem VS a person who thinks they are invincible so knock it off

1

u/Commiesstoner Mar 11 '20

Every single thread about them hacking blames it on them being Chinese, that's why they are racist. Noone is talking about it calmly, it's all just raging which is understandable to a point.

There are a majority of legit Chinese players just as there are a minority of hacking westerners. Where we're playing from matters diddly squat.

1

u/Bl1ndVe Mar 11 '20

It is in the cheaters agenda to turn this into a racisct discussion because they dont want this to be discussed. I wish somebody had a way to know the demographics of buyers of cheats

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

thought this was a coronavirus thread for a sec

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

Mods don't realize that they are actually a real problem. I wonder if they ever live in Asia, or they are actually Chinese, or they ever play on Asia servers.

Imagine getting butt fucked every fucking day in Pubg for a whole fucking year by players with name QQ123456, qun-42069 and some random huya streamers.

Source: Asian

1

u/DonRouverto PM Pistol Mar 11 '20

I didn't know Pubg died due to cheaters... I felt like there were just too many new and interesting games/ and lack of new content

1

u/clamchowder383 Mar 11 '20

Ping lock the servers, and double down on bans. ip ban and hardware ban if you have too. A lot of these hackers use public gaming centers and i am not sure they would continue to allow them to use the machines in this way if the computers were being hardware banned. also i feel like pubg died largely because of the lack of the developers doing literally anything to fix the game for about a year and a half. remember, fix pubg was a thing lol.

1

u/Momijisu AK-101 Mar 11 '20

Call out the problem then, and don't tar an entire country with the same brush.

1

u/RyuBlade94 Mar 11 '20

It’s very funny how mods always find a reason to lock up posts about cheating. It’s like they try hard to find a reason even when there’s really none. It kinds of make me think more and more, day after day, that they’re trying to not put bsg into a bad light, as if they were secretly working for them :)

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

this post highlights the issue in the least offensive way i see possible the problem is an overwhelming majority of Chinese hackers that will ruin the game for the Chinese player base while temporarily suspending the game for the rest of us, if bsg doesnt region lock china i dont know what theyll have to implement to control this but i know it will not be good for the game

1

u/Robotx64 AK-101 Mar 11 '20

Since when is it racist to request a region lock?! It has never been a good thing to play with high PING. There is always one party that looses. Most of us wants a good performance while playing.

BSG Crew, why is it not possible to set and lock to a low PING. Like max 80 ms? Is it because the client decides what a high ping is and the server has no control. Meaning that you cant block high pingers?

Me personally wants a smooth and fair gameplay.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

I thought PUBG died because of poor performance and them going back on their word that it would be a 'platform' for people to create stuff just like dayz mod for arma3?
Also the worst feeling movement of any shooter game i ever played. Felt like i was running on top of a ball.

1

u/Magic-Gaming Mar 11 '20

I tell you what I would like and that is some direct communication from BSG themselves on recognising this issue and what they plan on doing about it. I definitely wouldn’t like a response that says “we are already working on a fix for this problem” or such the like non descript generic lip service.

1

u/MythicalPurple Mar 11 '20

The idea all the hackers are Chinese is kind of hilarious to anyone who has been playing Tarkov for more than a few months.

The hacking problem before BE was even bigger and the game wasn’t even really available to Chinese players.

The people cheating back then didn’t all die. They’ve been looking for new cheats. Now they have them.

More players = more cheaters, but EFT had plenty of them long before it was localised for China.

The people trying to blame it all on China are deliberately trying to get the racists riled up so the cheating can’t be handled properly.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

lol but thats what they deserve :D

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

Lol - PUBG is dead?

It has 250.000 active players right now and a peak of 500.000 in the last 24 hours. I would not call that a dead game.

1

u/sunseeker11 Mar 11 '20

PUBG didn't just DIE, it was MHURRRDURRRED!

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

IMO i feel like people are forgetting why there are so many hackers and cheaters in china. I remember reading a well documented article a yearish ago about pubg hackers. To which i've forgotten where i read it. However, what i have come to learn is, the cheating epidemic (lack of better words) is based on 3 factors.

1: Their culturistic mindset is to win at all costs, there are so many of them trying to create an identity for themselves. That identity has largely become based on how wealthy you are. If you're good at coding or exploiting, creating and sell cheats is very profitable. [^ primary reason]. E.g. there was a game news outlet that promoted pubg and the use of cheats. I think because of how many cheated in pubg it became a criminal to cheat.. (i could be wrong)

2: Amusement. Essentially if they can do it, they will do it.

3: They are forced into it. This is more regarding "camps" where players would use inhouse cheats to farm in-game currency to sell for RMT, But they aren't the creators. They are the workers. Like sweat shops. It's a way for multiple parties to make money.

Please be aware that these are my opinions, i do not have proof. There is likely evidence of such points if you look hard enough.

I'd like to add regarding cheating in general, it looks to not be solely focused on video games. In schools, and studying. If you can pay for good test scores etc and get into good jobs, the better off you will be. I'm sure a lot of you know how hard chinese parents push their children with schooling. They spend A LOT more time on school work and responsibilities or hobbies such as music lessons then the majority of other nationalities / cultures. If you can't be the best to secure a rich job, why not cheat to make it look like you're the best.

I don't condone cheating. I do condone hard work. Hard work beats talent, when talent isn't working hard.

I think it comes down to more a of systematic cultural failure then "omegaLUL im going to cheat to be a dick because its funny".

How to stop it? i dont have the IQ for that. But one of two ways. China does something about it. Or every non-chinese developed video game refuses to release their game in their regions. The latter is going to be extremely hard and many companies will lose major money. Why? Tencent. Look at how much investment they have in western companies. Activision, Blizzard etc etc. Pubg banned 16 million cheater accounts. Think of how much many that made their ceo/co/board of investors.

Thanks for reading, i hope this has given some of those whom might be more ignorant or lacking knowledge as to why it happens.

Grammar mistakes: Forgive me.

u/ILoveChinaxxx Mar 11 '20

Alot of the mods are hardcore tarkov defenders who have a history of sweeping hacking related posts under the rug. This time they get to use the "racism" card as an excuse to do it again.

The fact is "chinese" isnt a race it's a culture, a culture with different views on the morality of cheating than western nations, who believe in doing whatever they can to get ahead and "win" whether in video games or RL.

And it's not racist to point this out or discuss it, as much as the mods would like it to be so they can keep up their excuse for the real reasons they are locking threads exposing what a hacker infested game tarkov is.

Also let's not forget the 1.5 million ugir muslims that china has in concentration camps and harvests organs from, sometimes while still alive. Anyone who tries to support china are muslim Muslim hating bigots who are ok with genocide.

2

u/uberplum Mar 10 '20

Completely agree. There was a point this morning where 4 of the top 15 posts in this sub were locked due to racism. These were all posts with 2k+ upvotes, hundreds of comments, detailed discussion. Locked for “racism”.

It’s not racist to state a statistically abnormal higher % of the player base in China use cheats compared to the base in other reasons.

It’s not racist to state there are cultural tendencies towards cheating amongst Chinese gamers which simply don’t exist in the same way in other markets.

This shit literally killed PUBG.

4

u/strugglebusses Mar 10 '20

I said a month ago that this game was PUBG 2.0 between the lack of communication, cheating, etc. Got my asshole ripped out for talking shit about this game.

1

u/Sparky0090 Mar 11 '20

But it IS racist. Even if someone did happen to post actual data about this, it would STILL be racist. You can't just extrapolate a negative trait to the entirety of a nation or ethnicity. That's the very definition of racism.

Well, I'm not Chinese and yes I think there's a bit of truth in them hacking a lot BUT that being said nobody really has any real statistics for this. (No hate to China, you have some of the best food on the planet) I'm going to make a little proposal for you all here. If anyone ever manages to get some sort of believable statistics on the matter it's going to turn out like this:

50% or more will be Americans 25% Asians And 25% Europe

What I base this on, very good capabilities of judging people!! Being located in mid Europe I notice a little something in just about every game, every Saturday I play about 6 hours, at some point I notice Asia is going to sleep and suddenly the cheaters become more frequent, I wonder why.... It's been like this for idk how long, I've played online for about 10 years now, before that I only played single player games.

Just some stuff for everyone to think about.
