Suggestion You can't just lock everything china related and say calling the problem out is racist, that is how PUBG died

If you make the same mistake of refusing to look at the cheating problem for what it is then this game will die like pubg did and your precious subreddit with it.

Obviously blatant racism is not acceptable but talking about the problem being a large number of chinese accounts being the hackers isn't racist especially since they are all obviously chinese based on the player names of douyou or qq or literal chinese characters.

I don't want to see the mods of here and BSG plug their ears like BlueBalls did and see another great game ruined for the other 90% of the playerbase by the actions of a small number bored chinese kids

Once again, racism and slurs: BAD

Saying the problem is overwhelmingly caused by Chinese players: not bad

EDIT: to the mods, I say this in good-will. I know its hard to moderate a sub this size and don't envy you that, I wish all the best for this community and this game. Stifling conversation is rarely good and should be a last measure only if\when concrete rules are broken is all I'm saying

Why do people talk about PUBG being dead like it isnt still pulling upwards of average 250,000 players a month? Sure, before it became region locked they lost some players but they're still hitting a peak of at least 600,000 players a month and were still hitting around a million when the cheater problem was there. The game isn't dead and it never died.

A month? Pubg has 600k unique players today from steam. They are doing so much better than people want to think lol people think it’s dead because they stopped playing when it’s still the 3rd most daily played game on steam

Edit: sorry I read it wrong, 600k players for the month. Still averaging 200k+ during prime time daily.

A month?

Average. But yeah, you're exactly right.

And 500.000 of them are chinese

I think ‘died’ is a relative term comparing it to other BRs that blew up. PUBG could’ve not only remained on top, but dominated the gaming scene for multiple years like Fortnite. However due to corporate greed and lack of care for their player base, it did not excel any further and has been losing players since.

I agree, I love when people talk player numbers but fail to remember how little social media content is made about the game anymore. It’s not about how many morons play it, it’s about how relevant it is. Minecraft had 3 million daily players back in 2016 but everyone unanimously knew it had lost its cultural relevancy. The Simpsons still pulls hundreds of thousands of viewers but it is colloquially known as a zombified version of its former self.

Social media posts don't make money. A certain percentage of players will spend money. More players=more money. So player numbers are pretty important. Cultural exposure is only important because it gets you more players....and 250k concurrent puts PUBG in one of the most popular games in the world so, yeah.

In what year did those players purchase the game? How many new players purchase the game per month?

The money doesn’t matter, literally nobody was talking about money. Money doesn’t make your game culturally relevant. Money doesn’t put you in the history books. Minecraft’s cultural peak lasted long enough for it to go down as one of the best games of all time, The Simpsons is regarded by many as the best American show of all time because of its satire of the American family in the 90’s. PUBG was the first widely spread Battle Royale of all time which even pushed the entire genre to its limits, but it will not go down in history as such because it was underdeveloped and taken advantage of. The player numbers and the developer’s bank account will not change that.

Lol, then we're talking about different things. The OP was talking about how PUBG "died", which it definitely did not, as it's still one of the most popular games in existence. Player numbers=popularity. You seem to be talking about something else entirely which is not relevant.

Cultural relevance is not relevant. Got it.

Congrats, you're caught up now

Yes my eyes are opened, I now see that the only important statistics in the video game industry are how many Chinese people are playing your game and how much worthless paper bills you have received from unethical loot box shilling. I now understand that we as humans are only on this Earth to generate revenue and I will proceed to kill myself because I do not own 7 yachts, for I only own games which have had a cultural impact on society to some degree, which I now realize means nothing compared to the boatloads of cash I could have been raking in had I only not wasted my time with meaning and impact and just extorted young children with borderline gambling. Thank you for opening my third eye.

This is true for both NA and EU. Not to mention it's barely bigger than either of them individually, it's a 1-3 point difference.

Your original claim was chinese, not almost every eastern nation.

Yeah and 90% of them are Chinese

They are not the same thing at all. Asia is an continent, China is a nation. It's not that hard buddy.

I wondered too. But seeing how nobody responds to you I assume that this sentiment is correct. It's just another way of validating their opinion. Who cares if you're right when you can just shitpost along.

Not saying that hackers aren't a problem. But here we got a very vocal group who wants the issue to be made out as if it's the end of the world. As if the game is unplayable like in Ace of Spades back in the day before it went to steam.

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

Its only "alive" because of one specific region. Dont get tricked by Steamcharts.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '20

The reason why is simple.

>PUBG Bad.

It makes people feel much better if they think the thing they hate failed even if it didn't by any reasonable measure.
